I can view conversation threads with people in my Contact list, but what if I want to review an SMS message I've sent to someone who isn't in my Contacts? Or if I've forgotten who I sent a message to? There doesn't seem to be a 'Sent Messages' folder to browse?
See the "Text Messaging" icon in your tray (near the bottom), if I click on mine it shows all my texts.

Sorry, don't know what you mean. What app are you using?
I have no tray and no text messaging icon.
I am just using the native 'Text Messaging' App - It only shows INCOMING SMS messages.

In my native text messaging app, incoming texts are displayed in yellow bubbles, but outgoing ones are in grey bubbles in the same chat window. If the contact is not in my contacts list, then just the number appears instead of the name.
Hope that helps.

Yes, If I select an INCOMING text, then the conversation thread opens and I see the grey and yellow bubbles you have described, but that only works if I can find an INCOMING text from that particular contact.
When I open the Text Messaging App, I can only see a list of RECEIVED messages (no SENT MESSAGES), so I can't select a SENT MESSAGE. There is no option to view SENT messages.
Or put it another way, I can't see SENT messages to anyone who hasn't replied.
Try sending a new text message to a non-contact (someone who has never sent you a message). Then search for the message you have just sent? You can't find it.
Go to your apps drawer and click on "Messaging" app. From there select "Text Messages". This will open all the conversations you have had. I have several in there from people who are not in my contacts due to craigslist sales and wrong number texts.
Edit: Nevermind, I think I misunderstood you. I don't know any numbers to text that are not in my contacts that haven't already texted me so I can't check what you are saying.

Yes I can.
Top entry in the list of conversations in the text messaging app.
Also, for other contacts, I see a snippet of the most recent message in the conversation, not the most recent received message - so if I was the last person to say something, it shows the start of the message I sent.
No idea what's wrong with your handset to be honest...

OK you are right, sorry for the confusion.
It's just that there is no distinction between RECEIVED messages and SENT messages in this view (They are the same colour, font, background).
I guess I am used to my WM6 device where I had seperate folders (views) for Inbox and Sent.
What I'm asking is - is there any way I can view ALL and ONLY my SENT text messages? without seeing RECEIVED?

Not with the stock messaging app.
Maybe if you were to use a third-party app like Handcent but that's really just a guess on my part as I've never used it myself...
from market - go sms pro . free right now , it has inbox, sent, outbox and all that
This feels like such a noob question but I'm at a loss. I know group messaging has been baked into the latest release but it doesn't seem to be working right.
I have the group messaging option turned on in my settings and I can send a group text just fine. But when I receive a group message it looks like a normal text message. I can't see who the other recipients are and so I can't respond to anyone but the person who sent that text.
I've noticed the same thing on several different S3 phones running 4.3 so I feel like either I am doing something wrong or "group messaging" doesn't work the way I expect it to. Are we only able to send group texts but not receive them? What gives?
Thanks.
Anyone??

I have the Verizon version of the S3, so I'm not sure if they behave the same. I went into my messing app, hit the menu to get settings and have the option for "Group Conversations" "Send messages as group conversations by default" checked...mine works just fine. When I get a group text, I have an option to switch it from MMS to SMS and have it be an individual text.
When I am in a group text message, whenever I send a reply it sends my reply to the group then sends me my same exact text back to me in the same same thread. It gets really annoying. Also I would like to have all the replies from anyone in the group text to go into one thread not individual threads, but that is not extremely important. What do I need to check off or on in the mms text message settings to stop sending myself text messages? Thank you. And how do I change my signature now, its been awhile since i've tried lol.
I tried hitting the 'Sym' button on the keyboard for the Emojis menu but it doesnt pop up for facebook. Anyone know how to access the emojis for Samsung Note 4 to use on facebook?
Press and hold the microphone button next to the sym button, then click the smiley face and they're in there..
Are you guys able t see emojis when they are sent from you in text messsages and if you send them can the recipient see them? Im having that problem and it is very frustrating because my friends with S5s can send and receive them with no issue. Thanks.

first time I sent a txt my on my note 4 with emoji in it, a popup came up and said something to the effect of "if you send this text message then the recipient wont be able to see emoji, if you want the recipient to see emoji send this message as __________ instead.."
I cant remember what the keyword was though (the __ blank)
of course there was a "don't show this message again" checkbox, but if you clicked "ok" then it would send and wouldn't necessarly show the emoji in recipients txt msg, however if I clicked the other button, it wasn't called "cancel", I forget, then it would change the send mode for text messages and send emoji's so the recipient could see them..
im sorry I so vague on all the specifics, but perhaps you are sending in the wrong 'mode'? maybe someone else with some more knowledge can chime in.
I am the PR for my motorcycle group and I need to send out individual messages to my members (around 70 at a time). Currently I am using "Group Texting" from the play store and this has worked prefecture on my note 4 and note 7. This app allows me to toe up a text message (some times it is longer than 160 characters) and select the individuals I want to get the text and when I press the send button it uses my native texting app (this case it is messenger) and sends out individual text messages. While it is sending out these messages I start to get a message "Sending SMS Messages, SMS Messenger is sending a large number of SMS messages. Do you want this app to continue sending messages?" I have the choice of "Allow" of "Deny". I have press "Allow" multiple times thinking these messages are going out. When I go to the Messenger app I see some that went and a ton that show "message not sent, resend" in red.
Now I could blame the "Group Texting" app but when I go into the messages that have not sent and tap resend I get about 10 done then start getting the same message again "...large number messages. ...", so I think it is an android setting somewhere. I raged this issue and found the same issue was on the nexus phone also. Their fix was to root the phone, I really don't want to do that as of yet. If this can not be fixed I may have to trade this phone off and go back to a samsung.
Any ideas?
In the Google Messenger settings one of the options for group messages is to send as single SMS messages or group MMS messages. Toggle the setting to SMS and compose your text with desired members, no need for a second app. Settings > Advanced > Group Messaging.

Has something changed on group texting? I thought this feature was the old group texting where it limits to you only 10 recipients at a time. I am wanting to end up with individual threads for all text messages I send out. So I could end up with 70 threads when I send out a group message.

I guess I've never tried to do more than 10 so I am not sure if that is possible or not. I generally keep my setting to MMS (group text) instead of SMS (mass text), but have toggled it once in a while if I want to send the same thing to several people but don't want a group text going.
Unbelievable - I to am also in a motorcycle club and send out sms notifications to apx 120 members - I am unabllke to now since i bought my google pixel xl - I have exactly the same problem - I have rung telstra and Google and they say it is the others problem ? it is driving me mad - help ?

Hello,
This is a built-in Android security feature. It limits how much messages can be sent within a certain amount of time.
In order to remove the limit, changes need to be done in:
/system/framework/telephony-common.jar
Upload a copy of your "telephony-common.jar" if you want and I'll try looking into it...
Cheers...

Hello,
Like you guyz someone in the N6P forum had a similar issue and managed to modify their telephony-common.jar to send more SMS within a certain amount of time...
Unfortunately, you need Root and a file explorer to extract the archive here: /system/framework/telephony-common.jar
So i decompiled it and here are the two values that are used to set limits:
Code:
const-string/jumbo v1, "sms_outgoing_check_max_count"
.line 263
const/16 v2, 0x1e
Code:
const-string/jumbo v1, "sms_outgoing_check_interval_ms"
.line 267
const v2, 0xea60
Both values can be set to whatever numbers in hexadecimal you want...
If you want to test, just send me your telephony-common.jar. I guess this archive should be the same no matter what ROM you're on, but not 100% sure...
Cheers...

I have seen something like this in other posts and googling this issue. Rooting my phone may be my last resort to get my SMS to work correctly. I am just pissed Google will not admit it is their operating system that is doing and not the app or the wireless provider.
Thanks for the find. I may go ahead and root my phone.
Basically, I'm using a very convenient service which is called Atomic SMS Sender. It works perfectly and does it's job quickly :good:
