autoboot S9 on charge - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

Hello there !
I want to make a car installation with my galaxy S9, so I need it to shutdown at the same time of the car (solved with root and tasker) but despite of all my research an attemps, I can't figure out how to boot when usb charge on.
I tried lpm method, but no way, the lpm file comes back as new and as there is no fastboot, the so-called method don't work either.
As this phone will only stream music to my car with bubble upnp, I don't mind if I need another OS, but as I paid for rooting, if I could keep the actual one it would be nice.
Thanks for your help and take care !

[Q] 2012 Honda Civic USB doesn't work with Evo 4G

A friend of mine also tried plugging in his HTC G2 (with Cyanogenmod), which also did not work. And I've been looking for a solution all around the place, and it seems to be a problem with Android phones in general; however, I know it's possible to get it working somehow because not everyone has the issue.
Basically, no matter if I have the USB connected via charge only or mass storage, the car display flashes "UNSUPPORTED". I've tried it with and without USB debugging enabled. And with all those combinations, I've tried having a music application open/no music apps running.
I also tried a solution here, which also did not do anything different.
I've also seen a few responses saying to just use Bluetooth instead. My car does not have Bluetooth capabilities. Using an AUX cable is a possibility, though I'd rather have the USB working.
Thanks!
Seems like the system wants to recognize your phone, but USB mode takes a few seconds to enable and therefore the system just rejects it. Disk mode will DEFINITELY have to be activated at some point, but the question is when. Try these steps:
1. With the car on, turn on the radio but don't have it in USB mode yet. Use radio, aux, cd, whatever. This will likely power the USB port at least.
2. Plug in your phone, make sure to select disk/mass storage mode.
3. Wait like 10-15 seconds for it to settle in, THEN select USB mode.
If that doesn't work, try different combinations. Like start with the radio completely off or something. If you have more than one USB port, try a different one. Other than that... I'm stumped. I got it working in a rental Ford Fiesta, but I don't remember the exact method. But it was something like this.
Try the radio with a USB stick drive to see if the radio even works that way

Sorry thegregbradley, I tried it but it didn't work.
I tried doing a couple of different things similar to that too, and it didn't work either.
As far as using a regular USB drive with some music files on it, it works fine! My friend used her iPod and that worked fine too. I don't see why it has such a problem with Android though...
In doing some reading, I have discovered information that says you need to turn USB debugging OFF for this to work...
Info comes from this thread:
http://www.hondacivicforum.com/foru...nics-10/2012-usb-android-support-88695/page2/
If not that, then I wonder if it's a problem of file management on your SD card? Just as a test, try putting your songs directly in your root folder. Or at most, one folder deep. The Fiesta I rented had bluetooth functionality, so I ended up doing it that way, as it was faster and less problematic. But I definitely would rather just plug it in if it just worked that way.
Iv found that running a rooted rom with debugging off and in mounted mode works great in my car.... No other combo has worked for me
@pwncloud, did you ever get this to work with USB debugging off? Just curious
I have debugging off in my car too and no mods to my android, it's a G2 and I get the same error on my 2012 Civic LX.
To update, no I never got it to work. I've settled with an aux cable.

[Q] Auto start when connect to charger

Hi,
Ive googled about this matter and cant seem to find a solution for the galaxy tab s lte but for other samsung devices since s3 is possible.
Ive also tried the Auto Power On app (paid apps) both of them didnt work and requested a refund.
It seems that we have to modify the file /system/bin/playlpm or /system/bin/lpm or /system/bin/ipod for this to work.
Ive tried everything and still doesnt work on the galaxy tab s lte.
What i need is for the tablet to boot upon connected to charger when the state is off. Now all i can see is the battery icon stating its charging but never boot into android.
Anyone have any idea how to make this work for the galaxy tab s lte?
Cheers.
Well it begs the question as to why in the world would anyone want this?
I wouldn't want my tab on every time I charge it.
I think you would need a custom rom, don't the apps you can download/buy, need your device to be already running so they can shutdown or run an app or change a mode when they detect you plugging in or removing the charger.

Why would anyone need this? Let me answer you.
Some of us use our android tablets in cars ... There's app to make the tablet shutdown when u turn off the engine and the power is disconnected (tons of them).
But when u start the engine back and the power is re-connected, the tablet wont turn on. Right now the only solution i can do is to use tasker to airplane mode on the device when the display is off, and airplane mode off when the display turns back on. This saves power so that the tablet doesnt run out of juice overnight in the car.
So most of this has to do with in-car tablet systems that you want it to boot up as you start your engine. I can custom rom my tablet to run CM12 however even CM12 doesnt boot up, some settings needs to be changed and im not sure which part so i need some help on this.
Cheers.

Thanks in advance.

C'mon. You and I both know that this is a niche scenario, and normally it's a bad idea. If your running low enough on battery to run you device dead, you want it to charge a while before turning on. We've all been waiting on a dead phone to get a few percentage points charged so that way it doesn't die immediately upon startup.
I've been leaving my Tab S on a constant power supply in the car. This means I have to turn it on and off manually. I have been toying with using Tasker to turn the screen on/off based on connection with a BT device that would be powered by an switched power source.
The problem I get is warning messages about trying to charge the battery while it is too hot or too cold.

Why dont u try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.as.powerchecker it will close the android once ur power is disconnected from the car ...
As for turning it back on when u start. Still no solution ...
Any help guys? Last time asking ...
Using Tasker and Secure Settings, I can get the tablet to turn the screen on and off when the power is connected. If rooted, you could turn Airplane Mode on and off in Tasker also. But short of a change in the firmware, I have no idea how to power off and restart based on external power connection.
From what I remember, when CM12 was still buggy... when you connect a charger when it was powered off, it would show the battery icon and automatically reboot into recovery. Of course that was a bug, so I don't really know.

Same here, did you find an answer?
Same here but no solution found
Iam trying to set my tablet to auto start/boot when charger is connected in mini usb port. I didnot find lpm.sh in root\system\bin folder to modify. But i found ilm file with below script. Plz tell how to modify to make powered off tablet to boot when charger is connected.
Script to start "pm" on the device, which has a very rudimentary
# shell.
#
base=/system
export CLASSPATH=$base/framework/ime.jar
exec app_process $base/bin com.android.commands.ime.Ime "[email protected]"
You can instruct init to reboot the device whenever charger mode is detected. Create a new .rc file or edit any existing one:
# /system/etc/init/off_mode_charge.rc
on charger
setprop sys.powerctl reboot,leaving-off-mode-charging

Galaxy S3: Using My Phone As Car Media Player

Just the basics . . . recommendation requested
Ok, I'm looking to turn my not active Sprint S3 into a 'monitor only' (no carrier data needed) for an on vehicle dash project. I'd like to have feedback on best means to accomplish the following (based on desired priority):
- have the S3 boot when power is rec'd from the vehicle power (usb from vehicle accessory power)
- boot fast (instead of the 50+secs it takes to boot w/ standard Sprint/Sammy boot process)
- normal use of existing apps (currently on 4.4.x, but will bring to newer if need be)
- have tasker (or similar app) to run certain apps automatically after startup
- retain wifi and BT functions
- have the S3 turn-off after power is lost
- remove all the BS bloatware from when it was a full blown sammy/sprint device
So I have the setup now running as the screen for my OBDII info with the Torque (Pro) app. It works fine, but the turn-on/turn-off steps make it less than desirable. I've read where the capabilities exist, but haven't found a good simple source. I don't need radio, or the other things I've seen for in-vehicle 'screen' capabilities.
Assumptions, will require custom-ROM and additional app's. My question(s) are: 1) best simple ROM 2) apps that can make it 'mo betta' 3)links to solution for some1 who hasn't rooted Android before [I see the links for choosing root/how to root --- awesome info] if a specific ROM is perfect solution.
Thx in advance ~

I've settled on just turning on when I get in the truck . . . and just let it turn off when bat goes out. I do have CONDI starting the SAMMY starting the Torque APP (after turning on BT and WIFI --- sometimes I let it connect to my N6 via HOTSPOT) when USB power is recognized (on start via acc bus of truck), and when power not recognized to dim screen, turn off BT and WIFI in an effort to save battery power [reverses when power recognized]. As you can tell no solutions popped on this thread and I've got comfortable with setup.
My S3 is hardwired to the car's battery. I made a battery replacement pack that taps the OEM battery circuitry and filled it with epoxy, made an adapter to plug into a downstep power supply (from 12v to 4.9v), and the device is plugged in all the time.
I use the Car stereo's bluetooth to tether to it, I can download files/music from YoutubeRed and watch/listen while on the road. I could also preload the device's SD card with music, or even better, plug in a USB otg and plug in a USB hard disk if I needed to. But I so far use it for a dashcam (auto records on bluetooth) using AutoGuard (com.hovans.autoguard) dash cam
Been in multiple accidents, and it has protected me with the auto startup, and auto upload to youtube:
<can't show external links, too new>
Here is the battery I made:
<can't show external links, too new>
But the adapter to convert the car's 12v to the battery's 4.9 (so it thinks it's 100% and fully charged and not attempt to charge it if you want to plug in a charger as the event notification):
Buck Step-down LM2596 Power Converter Module DC 4.0~40 to 1.3-37V LED Voltmeter
You can search that on Ebay or Google for more on that.

Auto boot on power?

Hi!
I am planning to repurpose my Galaxy Nexus (Maguro) running CM13 as a media player/rear view camera viewer for my car.
I want to use a USB OTG camera, so I cannot use the micro USB port to charge the phone at the same time (or can I), so I tried ironing the power wires of the USB cable directly to he pins of the battery and it worked
I use a charger which provides power to the phone when the car engine is on, but the problem is that I need to turn on the phone manually every time...
Is there a way to make the phone boot automatically when it gets power?
I saw some threads for other phones which wanted to boot the phone when the charger was connected (not sure if that would be helpful for me but anyway). They achieved that by modifying a file called lpm in system/bin. However my phone doesn't have such file...
Thanks in advance for your help!
I found a file called pm and editted that one but nothing changed...
Help please!!!

MT8312 boot on charging up ?

Hello guys, this is my first post on this forum so i hope i don't post where i shouldnt.
So i was trying to integrate an android tablet onto my car so i can see everything that happens to my car real time with an OBD2 bluetooth diagnostic. The problem is im trying to integrate it so no buttons of the tablet are accesible. I got my hands on a cheap Vodafone Smart Tab 3G and i was searching ways to turn it on once it gets power. I managed (with the help of my dad, THANKS DAD !!!) to make a fake battery (a charger that connects back to the tablet and simulates a real battery). Now, all i have to do is make the tablet turn on once it gets power. On samsung devices if u hold down the power button it starts normally but on this device it just freezes at Powered by Android logo, so i dug up a little bit more and i managed to root it. I tryied then the ipod file modification. I tryied even to delete it and replace with the reboot file, still nothing. The charging animation dosnt show but it wont boot up either. Then i found out about bootloader oem on-charge 0 (or something like that, i cant remember, being searching for like 2 or 3 days) but the tablet dont support that either. Now im stuck with this. Tryied to find some custom roms to flash on my device but found nothing in particular.
So, any ideea how could i achieve this ?
