If you want to backup your stock m8 i suggest to unlock the bootloadet (if it isn't) and boot a custom recovery and make a nandroid backup !

Are you sure you download the correct AutoRec for LS980?
I uploaded the one I used on Google Drive, give it a try.
Same result ...same error

Go to SuperSu setting and disable Mount namespace separation. Double check you are rooted.
Thank u sooo much. Worked now. Running TWRP 2.8.
I tried the appropriate option in recovery, but I get the message "impossibile to mount SD card".
Any hint please?

this is the only way that is possible without a PC. If you followed these steps and it doesn't work, you're out of luck. Get a PC. A laptop from a friend or family will already suffice.

Update:
Fix can't find system in wipe page.
1. Use the private files in mi default file manager

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. Select the "make private files" from private files - I couldn't make a screenshot because of security.
3. Select dual storage.
4. After the step 3 the "down arrow" in left side of internal storage should appear now.
And that's all thank you.
