Am I the only one experiencing this problem? I know for a fact that my carrier voicemail inbox is empty since all my voicemail is transferred to Google Voice so why am I still receiving voicemail notifications. I also tried a factory reset but that didn't help either.

I had this problem with my first TMO "4G" phone, and a new SIM card fixed it. They are free from company stores.
Will T-Mo replace my SIM card free of charge if I explain my problem to them?
Okay, I found a way to remove the voicemail notification.

how did you delete the notification?
If you're using Google Voice for voicemail playback, then that needs to be deactivated first from Google's website. Then select your carrier to receive voicemails and leave yourself a voice message and delete it. After you hang up the voicemail icon should disappear.

thanks...makes sense...thought about leaving myself a message and trying that...wondered if there was a different way...thanks.
Hey guys I have been missing calls lately and my phone doesn't give me any notification I have a voicemail. Since it doesn't tell me I have a missed call can someone point me to an app that would notify me with new voicemails. Thanks

Try going into the voicemail settings. See if there's anything there to help you
Try YouMail service. It's free and will give you iPhone's Visual Voicemail like interface. I love it.
Shell out a few bucks and get the BetterYouMail app from Play Store after registering and setting up with the official Youmail app. Just like the name suggests, Better You Mail is "Better" than the actual Youmail app.
HTH,
vG
google voice is visual voicemail ,its free and even emails you a text transcript of the voicemail message (great for seeing it in office where you cant listen to it)
I can only find the pay visual voicemail app. Sprint had an app where the voicemail would be sent to your phone and you could listen to the sound file without calling your voicemail. Does AT&T not have anything like that?
Before anyone says it, I don't want to use Google Voice since I want that to be a separate phone number.

Try Visual Voicemail Plus. It even works with aosp.aokp, cm9, cm10, etc.
I ise att's visual voicemail app...not the att messages app. Do a search for it here on xda. Make sure you are provisioned for visual voicemail.
That's the link I posted.

Doh!!!!
I have used this AT&T Visual Voicemail App since the Original Note.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.att.mobile.android.vvm
Before opening it for the first time you need to call Customer Service and have them completely reset your voicemail.
Once they reset your voicemail open your AT&T VVM App and go through the steps.
It works for me every time.
Good luck
Sorry guys. When I said free, I meant completely free. No app cost, no monthly cost (don't want to pay for visual voicemail).
To those that suggested Google Voice, did you even read my original post? I want to keep my Google number separate from my regular number. Am I missing something here as to why people suggested it despite my OP?
Anyway like I was saying, Sprint provided a free voicemail app that would allow you to listen to your voicemails without calling it up. It would send the voicemail to the app whenever you got one.

Did you take a gander at visual voicemail Plus? I never had to pay one cent for it.

Did you read MY post? I linked you an official At&t app that does exactly what you're asking. All you need to do is call At&t to have visual voicemail provisioned and it's free.

Sorry again. When you guys told me about that app, I saw the 3.99 price in the Google Play description and didn't realize that was for an upgrade. I didn't even have to call AT&T to provision. Just started working.
Thanks for the help.

You don't need to use your Google Voice number to have use google voice vvm. I've been using google voice vvm like this for 2 years now like this.
Everytime I try to set gv as my default voicemail it keeps giving an error though...anyone else having this problem?

I use AT&T Messages. It threads sms, mms, and transcribed voice mail. Works great for me.

I got the same error. If you just change your voicemail number to your GV number it will work. Also go to google voice on the web and follow the instructions to deactivate and reactivate your phone.

I've tried searching online and the settings on my phone with no luck.
I prefer to use Visual Voicemail in favor of the standard voicemail however I get 2 notifications for every voicemail (one for visual voicemail and another for the standard voicemail)
Is they a way to turn off the notifications from the standard voicemail?
Thanks for any help

if you cant find it in the VVM settings you can go to application manager, find VVM and uncheck "display notifications"
Same here. I use the visual vm app also and don't want the regular vm notification to show just the visual vm notification. I can't seem to find an option anywhere for that

Anyone know if it's possible to get voicemail (from Google voice) in the dailer or phone app for a non-verizon phone, right now I'm with At&t

Visual voicemail shows in the Voice app with the ability to play on earpiece or speaker.

Use this version of Google Voice 0.4.7.10 or below and it should work. The newer 5.0+ Google Voice got rid of visual voicemail in the phone app. After that go to Google Voice in the Play Store and uncheck auto-update so it won't update with the rest of the apps.
