Sorry if this has been posted but is it possible to switch to a custom ROM when running Android 10 (v11.0.4.0)?
If you have adb installed on your pc you only need these 2 for twrp, there might be a newer versions but they work fine for me.

So should I just use MiFlash to boot each image file individually? Then I assume once TWRP is in I can flash as usual?

Never used MIflash so I don't know how that works. I thought it's only to install stock rom, but I might be wrong. Use ADB to install custom ROMs
With the img file you can boot to twrp with ADB command. Then after installing a custom rom use the zip file to flash it .
I am unable to find any adaptable guide anywhere. Tried using XiaomiTools v2 and was unable to flash because my device (even though has a Mi account created) cannot be linked to my device, I have no where to link it on AndroidOne Global version on Android 10. No clue how you guys are doing this. I've flashed phones since Blackberry models here on XDA and this is the only device instructions are halfed.

find dee_stroy twrp img one. use adb (platfom-tool), then turn off your device and make it go to bootloader state (fastboot). on platform-tool open cmd. (just type on folder path cmd) then type fastboot boot (the name twrp).img and you are set to go. if you wanted to install twrp permanently, after u boot twrp via bootloader, copy the twrp zip to your device and install it. the procedure is all; the same for every rom tho. nothing has changed

This has been documented elsewhere...
The short version is
1) fastboot boot twrp.img
2) adb push twrp-installer.zip /sdcard
3) use TWRP to install the zip
If you also want Magisk you have to install that again. Flash from TWRP or follow the usual process.

If u have used fastboot rom yes recovery gets replaced
just follow these steps
If u r windows 8 or 10 u dont need to install any drivers . Windows downloads it automatically but if u r on 7 u have to install the drivers.
And follow these steps (ignore if u know these already)
0)Make sure your pc have adb drivers .If u r on w7 then download them (just google them fior redmi 1s)
1)Download mfastboot files from here and extract them into a folder
2)Download twrp-2.8.7.0-armani image from here and move it to the folder of extracted mfastboot
3)Now hold shift and right click on mouse and click on open command window here
4)Now get your phone to fastboot mode
5)use this command mfastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.7.0-armani.img and press enter
6)Tada recovery installed
How to remove twrp and put stock recovery
Hi guys, can you please help me with this problem?
Yesterday i went for CM 12.1 but didn't like it at all, I installed it via twrp...
So now i flashed asus rom 2.20.40.59, but i want to put OTA and i can't do it with TWRP.How can i put stock recovery and remove twrp? I tried several methods, but none of them worked for me...
Thanks in advance!
I couldnt put stock recovery either.
Please take a look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/asus-zenfone-2-flashing-recovery-mode-t3096596
the method of flashing stock recovery is the same as flashing the twrp.
Here's a link to the stock recovery collection from the same thread:

You can flash any recovery without PC by using [ROOT] Rashr - Flash Tool.
Search at play store.

I also noticed in the bootloader screen that the product_name is Z008, but I have Z00A with 4Gb ram..
Any solution?
edit: do you know if are there other link for recovery stock files?

Thats so strange about ur phone model!!
I've got zenfone ze550ml, model is z008, 2 GB ram . for recovery I downloaded this one: http://www.mediafire.com/folder/setyy42t2cymy#ma3w61exgyy06

When u get an error screen while trying to go to recovery mode (probablu u saw a dead android bot with an error) press and hold power button, then (while holding power button) quickly press Vol up and release and then also release power button..
hope this helps. i had the same error screen

Asus stock would have been good without the bloat wares.
I tried to flash stock rom in my asus zenfone 2, but it said that, "the package is for Z008 but this is Z00A" but my phone is ZE550ML (Z008). I dun know why I can't get back to stock rom using twrp. I also tried to side load "update.zip" from ADB sideload using stock recovery but it also shows error. this time it says "This package is older than the Build"

Yes, from/in recovery. And better use shortest command (e.g. "adb sideload d:\adb\update.zip") or you'll get an error.

Your bootloader will be untouched, recovery will be updated (if you flash newer zip) or untouched (for same version).

I read that twrp support "adb sideload".
1.entry in twrp
2.select advanced
3.select adb sideload
4.lunch the command line:
- adb devices (for device is recognized)
if this is correct lunch the command line:
- adb sideload name_Zip_Rom.zip
I have not tried it yet...when I will install a new update will try it.

Hello,
I had the official firmware rooted and the bootloader unlocked and I tried to install those two rom (actually I did not understand what was the difference between both).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/development/rom-resurrection-remix-m-t3399960
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...-resurrection-remix-n-v5-8-0-oneplus-t3507292
After that, I was not able to uncrypt my phone from TWRP (read only, schema not recognised), so I uncrypted it with the toolkit (and totally wiped it).
Now I'm able to put zip files on my phone from my PC, to install rom and GAPPS, but when I reboot after that, it only boots on TWRP (or fastboot) but not on the rom I installed.
Please, could somebody help me? I'm not able to use my phone . Sorry for my English!

Hi again @a1291762
I already downloaded and flashed the official daisy twrp but that didn't do it, 3.3.0 it was.
On the official twrp.me website there is only Dees_troy version (true I didn't try 3.3.1 - will do so tonight) - no offain version.
Just wondering, I think I saw some command in some posts to allow flashing on the Mi A2 lite - would that be required here (although not stated in the guide I referenced)?
[EDIT] found this:
I am seeing the ‘System has been destroyed’ message after installing TWRP on Mi A2 Lite (daisy)?
Then download the ‘aboot.img’ from V9.6.4.0 (Download Link), boot your Mi A2 to Fastboot Mode and flash it using the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash aboot_a aboot_9.6.4.img
fastboot flash aboot_b aboot_9.6.4.img
According to the explanation given by XDA Senior Member mac12m99, the newer bootloader (aboot.img) version checks for stock recovery, even when the bootloader is unlocked. To overcome this, you can flash an older bootloader version (Especifically from V9.6.4.0) to fix this issue.

10.0.9.0 broke all the old twrps. Only 3.3.1 works now.
The official TWRP maintainer for daisy is dees troy.
Offain does the lineage ROM for daisy. I don't know how people get links to his TWRP. Search?
That guide looks ancient. TWRP and Magisk install guides can be found in this forum... I wrote a combined one (since having both complicates OTA) but if you're doing a custom ROM... It will depend.
Many custom ROMs want an encryption Disabler fix because they can't handle the encryption (which is on even if you don't have a password).
I've seen lots of surprise by people at the processes required for this phone. It was certainly different to what I've done before, but my last phone was pre-magisk and pre-A/B partitioning so I figured that's just how things are on newer phones.

Here is the link for twrp 3.3.3-1 offain version ,but it is in .img format.Dont install it via fastboot or TWRP .You can boot it via this command:
fasboot boot twrp-daisy-3.3.1-0-offain.img ,install everything you want, and you'll be ok ,if you don't need permanent twrp recovery!
If you want permanent installation - I am using Android All in One tool from another XDA thread and that's what i do:
Reboot in Fastboot mode, then connect the device to PC open the all-in-one tool on your windows computer ,then click on the "Recovery Flasher and Device Rooter" button(after you see that the device is recognised in the program) ,you need to choose which version- set it to MANUAL. From there navigate to the recovery files(dees_troy and offain) in the first row navigate to the recovery image (offain) ,on the second row navigate to the recovery zip (dees_troy).Then hit the Flash button. The phone will boot in 3.3.3-1 offain twrp ,and automatically will install the dees_troy version and when everything is installed, the phone will reboot after the flash again in recovery. All the time i have 100% success with this all in one tool. When you are ready with the installation of twrp ,flash magisk and reboot to system.

Your choice , but I always prefer to have permanent twrp with custom ROMs . You know what's best for you.

@a1291762
I got this message after formatting the data and wiping system, trying to install LO:
Code:
"Device unable to boot. Error - mdtp image is corrupted"
I am now stuck on fastboot!
From the post https://forum.xda-developers.com/nov...7#post80993947
I understand I have to flash BOOT/RECOVERY/SYSTEM imgs to restore your device;
the commands are
Boot:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
System:
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
but the question is where can I get the
boot.img
recovery.img
system.img
for the xiaomi Mi A2 Lite (daisy); bearing in mind the phone is on a 2 partition system?
Thanks a lot in advance

There is no recovery image because this is an A/B partitioned phone.
The mdtp issue seems to be a real issue for some people.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/help/device-unable-to-boot-error-mdtp-image-t3926962
The advice I gave there is all I can give here. Try to fastboot/MiFlash a stock ROM.
If you don't have a stock image, they're listed here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/fastboot-xiaomi-mi-a2-fastboot-images-t3824871
Note that the newest image is 10.0.13.0 (14, 15, 16 did not get full releases, just OTAs).
These threads suggest it's possible to flash a stock ROM to fix a corrupt mdtp partition...

Thanks @a1291762.
I
Code:
fastboot flash mdtp_a mdtp.img
fastboot flash mdtp_b mdtp.img
as instructed by @SubwayChamp in the link you posted
but the phone boots straight back to fastboot after
Code:
fastboot reboot
so I believe I need to flash a stock rom
I'm on Debian; I am wondering wether I can use
Can XiaoMiTool V2 unbrick my device?
to unbrick my phone or just
fastboot flash the daisy_global_images_V10.0.13.0.PDLMIXM_20190813.0000.00_9.0_5d0d486f04.tgz rom?
Please confirm the commands are:
Code:
fastboot -w
fastboot update </path/to/your/Rom.zip>
and it will work with a .tgz format or do I need to extract it and then zip it?
Thanks for your help

Mdtp flashes returned your device to an state where partitions are readable again otherwise you won´t enter not even to recovery.
You don´t have to try to flash recovery (nor stock or custom), only reboot to a custom recovery like TWRP, the process to do it is well explained there, I also faced an mdtp issue and I didn´t need to flash the whole rom, just booted to TWRP and from there I did what I wanted, but if you yet want to do it.......
First of all I´m not familiar with Debian coming to modding smartphones, just I use it within other distros for other purposes.
The tool that you linked is not useful for us, this tool works mainly to fool recovery to accept modded scripts as original/signed and our device although it has a recovery image doesn´t have a dedicated partition and it simply is not available for the normal user, it´s mean that this tool uses MiRecovery present on all the devices running Miui out of the box but not for the others running Android One.
If you can access to a Windows machine this is the tool that I frequently use: https://xiaomifirmware.com/downloads/miflashpro/ but if you only can access to a PC with Debian probably this tool works for you https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tool-miflash-linux-t3708847

You can't throw a .tgz or .zip at fastboot?!
If you're going to flash a stock ROM, extract it and run a flash_XXX script. It will use your fastboot to flash every partition. Variants preserve data or relock bootloader.
if fastboot fails (data transfer failure (too many links))
-> use a different USB port which is not a charging port.
-> try a different USB cable

Same issue. So how would we go about flashing properly?
Search for recovery.img and boot.img in stock rom and flash in fastboot mode.

Did you select close avb 2.0 in twrp and factory reset?

We would need further details on which device (region) which MIUI version (number, android, region) you were on when you attempted to install Magisk. Of course we assume here you had unlocked your bootloader first, otherwise any attempt to flash anything will result in bootloop.
Many have successfully rooted on Android 9 regardless of MIUI version.
Complication often comes with Chineses devices from what I read, Global not so much so if you are on Global device consider yourself lucky
Easiest root is probably to flash LR team TWRP If you can still access fastboot mode (voloume - + power) version 09.24 or 11.04 if you are on Android 9 or version 12.10 if you are on Android 10. Note that you probably have more chances of success being on Android 9.
And use the root feature from WITHIN that TWRP to install root on your device.
You have a complete guide of the steps to reproduce here:
Guide
I have tested on Android 9, EEA device, EEA rom MIUI 11.0.2.0 and it works without an issue if you follow the guide provided above.
If you still want to manually flash Magisk from any other recovery, make sure to use version 19.04 which seems to have the higher odds of success (update afterward from Manager).
Also as mentioned by @wang1chung do not forget to close avb 2.0.
Myself I also had RM Force encrypt option used (just in case) even if not mentionned in the thread.
But unlike what was suggested in those threads I did not wipe data.
That said since I do not want to have TWRP to stick for now, I actually want it to automatically be replaced by stock recovery all went fine for me, and Magisk is there.
And when I need TWRP for something I just flash it again and do my stuff.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!
Same problem here. Luckly fastboot was still working (vol down + power after Redmi logo gets off). Then, I've downloaded stock ROM, and tryied manually execute fastboot commands, without success. Then, I've found a .bat file inside the root folder of the stock ROM .tar.gz archive, then executed the .bat file. Phone is working back. So, whats the catch about install Magisk? Any tips?

Personally I used the hassle-free method pressing the button to root directly from within the LR-TWRP (09.24, or 11.04 on Android 9 MIUI), swiped, then pressed that other provided button to close AVB 2.0, swiped and it worked on first attempt.
Of course TWRP got replaced on first reboot by system recovery, but I dont care as I do not want it to stick on my device. I just flash it again when I need it.
Magisk stayed, updated it from Manager (well manager updated first to that new ugly theme.... yurk!), then Magisk updated, no problem.
Note that I am on EU Phone running EEA MIUI 11.0.2.0. You might get a different outcome with other devices/roms.
Side note, LR-TWRP 09.24 installs Magisk 19.04 which has been reported numerous time to work on most Android 9 MIUI regional versions. LR-TWRP 11.04 howevers installs Magisk 20.0 fyi.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
regarding the thread title, i had the same problem. right when i was about to retart everything all over from 0, i was glad i was able to just go into twrp and just unroot. rebooted and it started as if nothing hsppended. now i jjust gotta find which module made me bootloop.
try this n give us the result
