I bought a Samsung S9 from a friend, it doesn't get software update. It has been stuck on the old version of Feb/March last year so I decided to update/flash it using Odin. When I checked phone details it shows SM-G960F so I downloaded firmware for my country based on that. I tried to upload the firmware using odin, it failed the first time and wont come on. I tried again, it got stuck on system.img. Its been like that. I noticed that when the phone is in download mode, it shows SM-G960N instead of SM-G960F (Does this have any effect on the firmware not running? Did I download the wrong firmware, should I download based on SM-G960N, mind its characters appear in probably Vietnamese/Chinese i am not sure which). Now I am stuck and dont know how to get the phone back on. Please please someone help me get my phone back on. Any suggestion that will help, will be appreciated.

You've probably figured it out by now, but it's because your phone is a G960N that was probably rooted and/or is running a custom ROM made for the G960F. The language is Korean and flashing a G960N firmware should fix your problem, although, since Odin failed, chances are no changes were made and pressing the power+vol_down should reboot your phone into the old software. I'm in a similar situation now so if you had dug deeper and had found any way to actually transform it into a G960F (should be possible right? I mean, they have the same hardware right??), please let me know thanks!

Hi,
I recently got a SM-T210 from a friend to repair. The description given was that their kids factory reset the unit and won't boot anymore. First the tablet had the death sleep issue which is a easy fix. But after that the tablet simply continues to show the "Samsung GALAXY TAB3" boot screen and never finishes booting.
As I'm known with Odin I simply downloaded the original firmware from sammobile for this tablet and took the firmware version for the Netherlands as that's where I live. There are 2 4.4.2 versions available and downloaded them both. When using Odin 3.09 and higher I simply cannot install the firmware, but on Odin 3.07 it can. Although it installs the tablet still fails to boot properly and hangs at the tab logo as described earlier.
With Odin 3.09 or higher I'm not even able to install the firmware as it says that there is no PIT file and NAND flash write fails. I've found 2 PIT files for this tablet on the forums and even with the use of these PIT files it still errors with the same issue and installation seems impossible with these versions of Odin.
I've also tried installing TWRP recovery but that won't boot either. When booting the tablet with volume key up it shows the Andriod icon with the spinnng "intestines" and alot of red error messages show not able to find /system and /data. My guess is that this is pretty bad, but that is what I want to fix with the stock firmwares and/or the PIT files (LT02.pit and T210(R).pit).
I'm currently out of ideas to revive this tablet and almost start thinking that it's completely dead, but before throwing it in the garbage bin I'm wondering if anybody here is able to help me further with this issue.
If you think you miss critical information, let me know so I can supply it!
Any help is greatly appreciated and thanked for!

Thanks, I've tried it with Kies but it won't even recognize the tablet. When I put it in Download mode and connect it to my computer the Kies welcome screen keeps switching every 2 seconds to the connecting screen, back to the welcome screen and keeps on going like that.
Any ideas left?

Except for correct drivers etc etc not really, no.
I am facing same problem.
My Tab 3 (Sm-T210) has gone too.
Now I can't restore it.
I have downloaded Stock ROM from sammobile.org,
but I can't extract this properly.
It always says that "files are corrupted".
I am also going to be hopeless as like as you.
hi, i just sold this phone and they want it back to stock. It had cyanogenmod on it, but i cant remember which one probably cm11. so i went to odin 3.09 and get a UK (BTU) rom from samsung-updates.com. the phone was stuck at the boot logo. okay. so i had another rom and i was try to use odin3.10.6 with no luck. at this point i tried to Re-Partition the phone because i thought CM using a diferent file system. it is now stuck at the samsung galaxy logo. and odin3 gives an error if i try to flash these 2 roms again. (i downloading other ones but it is free slow speed and 1 at a time)
I get 'Secure Check Fail: aboot' so i think the baseband version is not good. if i get a non uk version is it still be the same and english language? or will it have another network's boot logo or anything?
i still can get to the download mode, i just need to know as long as that works this can be saved. if not then i wont waste my time.
i managed to install latest twrp and then flash lineage os. i had some error messages, but the rom boots up and seems like it is working fine. how can i find out which stock rom i need to get it boot up after odin3 flashed?
so after that i flashed a stock rom with odin, but then i had no wifi. i need a good stock rom for Uk model.
edit: okay i flashed another one and now it is all up and running, probably the modem version wasn't match. so thanks for the help! (for myself )
Maybe it will help for someone in the future, i hope. greetings from the past!
Can't flash unbranded Oreo ROM and "e: failed to find /misc partition" message after
Hi guys, here's the deal.
I've bought this phone from an Argentina company called Claro, it has all typical bloatware from the carrier, apps, logo boot, ringtones, etc. So I've decided to flash my brand new Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 (SM-A520M) with the unbranded OREO ROM version from SamMobile, with the 4 files through Odin. Well, the thing's that I didn't know that because of the new security patchs (and for what I know), the OEM unlocked option was disabled it was impossible to flash. I mean Odin recognized it but the steps didn't even appear like always did. I've investigated a bit and I saw that OEM was disabled and because of that, I'll have to wait a week or so to unlock the feature. I've read that setting the date a week back I was able to activate it. And so I did, and it worked, so I thought... I've plugged the phone with Odin in Download Mode and I was determined to finally flash the new ROM. Long story short, it got stuck on SET PARTITION, which I think is the first message that pop-ups on Odin when flashing. So, I waited and waited but nothing happened, I saw that the whole process got stuck. The only thing I remember to read was NAND START WRITTING and nothing else.
After several minutes with no response I've unplugged my phone, and I press the power button. I saw the Samsung logo on loop, I almost died. I've read some forums about the issue but nothing certain, I guess this problem is kinda new. My concern was that when I went to Recovery Mode I saw the message below the options "e:/ failed to find misc/partition" that's when I really thought that it was a real problem and probably my phone was bricked forever. Luckily I made the factory reset and then it booted again. The phone is working great but, I'm very concerned about that message that appears on Recovery Mode, there's something wrong with that partition and for what I read and know about it there could be something missing from my phone that could be essential.
Thoughts? What can I do? I also downloaded Samsung Smart Switch to try to recover the firmware and install it to begin again but the option won't appear. My phone is detected, but I can't use the Emergency Recover with the original Firmware on Smart Switch. One more detail, the phone was bought from a company and it has the logo, ringtones and app from that company. Reason why there's no Oreo update yet with the company, so I have to wait but I really want the unbranded Oreo ROM.
What can I do? I really want Oreo unbranded but I don't know how to procced without screwing my phone. Thanks for reading, this is my first post in the forum.
Which Odin version have you used?
Ok i tell you u have to do to recover your phone and get oreo ?
1-u have to use new version of odin V13.3.1 (with LZ4 support )

No man, if it were that easy I wouldn't post anything. There's something that won't allow me to do it. It seems that because my phone is in "Pre-Normal" status on downlaod mode there's no chance to flash until it changes to "Normal," and for what I've read I have to wait one week. My question has to do with if is something serious the message "e: failed to find /misc partition" in download mode. What do I have to do from now on? Please read the whole post so you can understand my query. Thank you for your reply and intention to help. :good:
I have simmilar message, but i am not even rooted. "Failed to clear BCB message : failed to find misc partition."
There is nothing to worry about.
Hi! I have a big problem with my A5 2017. Today my phone pop-up the Oreo update, so I was decided to install it (finally!). First of all, I want to appoint that I have bought this phone from the carrier Claro in Argentina. Everything was fine, it downloaded the 1.56 GB of the OTA update but the problem was during installation. It got stuck at 32%, it failed. It rebooted and then an error message pop up to confirm to send to Samsung. I pressed yes and I gave it another shot and again stuck at 32%. Since I wanted to have Oreo so bad, I opened Smart Switch to update it with my laptop and the USB cable. Here's where all the drama began, Smart Switch recognized my phone and the new update, I pressed yes and I waited for the download. Everything was fine, I though that I was going to have Oreo on my phone. It began installing the update and all of the sudden it got sutck at 92% and again an error appear on screen. I pressed ok and this time there was another message saying that I have to use Emergency recovery option from Smart Swicht, I thought there wouldn't be a problem but when I procceded I had to past a code to recover my phone which I did but then it took 4 hours to download the emergency firmware to recover the previous firmware. When everything was set to installation the progress bar got stuck again at 90% this time. Now, I don't know what to do, I have this permanent message on screen "An error occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software." I can't turn off my phone, I can only use the download mode. So my question is what Software do I have to flash in order to recover my phone? I'm downloading the Oreo update (which gave me problems before) but honestly, this is the first time that happens something like that. Do I have to flash Nougat like I had? I'll trip knox I guess but right now I can only think off flashing the lastest firmware through Odin. What would you recommend me to do? Thanks in advance!

You can get out of download mode by holding volume down and power button until screen goes black. If it was me, I would download the latest oreo firmware for your model and flash it in Odin. If that didn't work I would huck it across the floor. JK

Yes, I did it. I've managed to download the lastest firmware, oddly the one that won't install via OTA or Smart Switch. I was wondering if I can flash an unbranded version from my country the next time, I couldn't do it the last time with Nougat. How can I do it if my phone is from a company? Thanks for your answer!
I hope this post help if someone has the same issue after updating an erroneous firmware from Samsung servers via OTA or Smart Switch. My company is Claro from Argentina. My solution was to download the latest firmware from sammobile's site and flash it though Odin. This phone with Oreo is amazing! Cheers.

It should work to flash unbranded firmware, but I am not sure what would happen with your CSC. Personally, I would stick with the right one. But if you you want to change CSC to unbranded, there is a tutorial somewhere on XDA.
Hello!
Few days ago i found my Samsung Tab 3, and decided to charge it and biit it up.
It got stuck on Samsung logo when i booted it.
So i did a factory reset using the recovery mode.
After i did that the device booted up. with lots of errors.
I was on the setup screen for my device and these errors appeard and said like core has stopped working and every like preinstalled app on my samsung device aswell (NAME has stopped working). So i was not able to fullfill the setup of my device.
I read about it online and a firmware upgrade could fix the problem ( Like the easiest way i read )
So i did some googling and downloaded Odin and a firmware. Followed a guide and did everything right. BUT the process faild like 8min into the flash.
And now my device is stuck on "download mode" but with the error "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
I cant get the phone to turn off, nor get into recovery mode or anything else. I tried flash again but no luck.
I also tried another firmware i found. still same problem.
How do i fix this and how can i use my samsung tab 3 again.
WHen i bought it years ago i never really used it. So it's in "new shape" and has never really been used. And now i wanna give it to my little sister for some kids games to play at Xmas.
I hope we can solve this problem.
Thanks in advance

That depends on various things, such as the Android version, kernel and change ID. Than also the Odin version you've used and/or the settings during the attempt of flashing. I found that using the wrong Odin version on a particular Android version, that may prevent the flash of being successfull. B.t.w, did you format both user and cache partition while trying to reset to factory default?

Yeah, I've found out what Odin version to use that worked for others. I've downloaded lots of different firmwares and such and tried. ALL fails.
When i did a factory reset i also cleared cash and user.
Now i cant even turn off the damn thing. If i charge it up and start, it just goes directly to the screen where it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue" and if i try to turn it off, it just reboots and goes back. And i cant even return to factory reset page.
I think that my Micro-USB cable might not work for this, or is that a thing? Do i need a good cable from PC to Phone for this? Or does any cable work?
I just want this tab to work. been trying for weeks.
Thanks for your reply. I hope we can sort this out.

It is quite easy to turn the device off, for that to happen you have to press and hold the on/off button. You'll see that the device will shutdown and try to reboot and then finally shuts down again and stay off, then release the on/off button.
Are you sure trying to flash the correct firmware with correct changes, etc??
Please share with us the device and Android version, as well as the stock ROM version with changes you're trying to flash.
Put (copy and paste) the output of Odin below.
Another way to get the firmware flashed is by using Heimdall, but for that to happen you first need to rename the extension of the stock ROM (remove .md5 and leave .tar) and than extract all seperate pieces that are contained within the stock ROM.
All those extracted pieces from the stock ROM you have to upload seperately onto Heimdall and try to flash them to your tablet, one by one.
Heimdall you'll find 'here' or use FWUL instead which has Heimdall pre installed, download is to be found 'here' and install it on a USB medium a stick, to put FWUL onto USB, use Balena-Etcher and the download is to be found 'here'.
Micro USB cable does work, but if you're unsure, try another one and make sure using the correct drivers too.
Using Odin, make sure the tablet is recognised and 'connected' in Odin, also make sure 'repartitioning' is unchecked.
If you've used the wrong Odin version, flashing will fail!

You're welcome.
Hi, complete novice here, does anyone know where I can get a working Firmware for my Tab 3 v7 (SM-210)?
I have searched through various forum articles here, and tried to install with several builds but none will install. The only one that gets anywhere near is the JASBR build by gr8nole. It appears to install, but on restart, the TAB just sits on the "Samsung Tab3" start screen.
I read that I may need to flash the firmware 4.4.4 (Kit Kat), but can't find it!
The unit is not totally bricked (yet), as I can run TWRP 2.8, with which I created a backup of the original build, but when I try to restore the backup, it fails at just over 31%.
Can anyone help please?
