Update SM-R805W to anything newer than 4.0.0.0 - Samsung Galaxy Watch

I have a 46mm LTE R805W (Canada) version and it's still on 4.0.0.0 which seems to be the launch version. I've tried putting both Speakout and Rogers sim cards into my phone and see if software update finds anything, but it doesn't appear to. I've seen others using Canadian models get updates to 4.0.0.7 and wondering how I can do it.
On a side note, when I do the CSC change, it only shows XAC, so it looks like my firmware doesn't have multi CSC. Anyone know where to get R805W firmwares so I could manually flash them?
Thanks

Hey, sorry, didn't see your reply.
AP: R805WVLU1ARH3
CP: R805WVLU1ARH3
CSC: R805WOYV1ARH3
No eSim activated. I plan to use it as a BT model. I got it at a good price used, and I didn't know so much hassle with LTE versions for updating (must go through carrier, etc).
Thanks!

I know 3 ways to update...
A
FOTA aka over the air
Phone AND Watch is paired AND with this funny Samsung App...
Funny Samsung app download to Phone... tranfer to Watch... update
B
FOTA aka over the air
Watch is Standalone NOT paired with Phone...
In Settings extra menu to update
C
Leaked Firmware packages
With Tools like
Code:
netOdin over WiFi
or for repair with USB cable
Code:
Odin
--------------------------------------------
I have NO LTE device...
So I was wondering about Threads where users asks how to update... they not receive Update not with method A nor B...
This remembers me on my old Phone... GT-I9300 aka S3...
I remember I was forced to insert SIM card... otherwise FOTA App not worked...
Maybe Samsung made something similar "amazing" to LTE devices...
LTE devices have own IMEI like Phone...
LTE devices have "SIM" aka eSIM...
All I can say... latest Firmware is leaked...

Strange that it hasnt auto updated. I have the 805W as well and it updated before i hooked it up to the network. SL3 is the latest. You may have to flash via wifiOdin. Its straight forward if you can find the firmware files. LTE in canada will only work on Bell and Telus btw.

I ordered a 0.99 CAD Bell sim card to see if that's enough to trigger the update. If not, my brother can come next week with his work Bell phone and I'll pull the sim card from there and reset the phone and do an update.
I didn't realize these LTE watches are basically the same as carrier branded smartphones where the carrier completely controls the firmware rollout. If you're not on the network (Bell/Telus), you can't update at all. I'm on the OG firmware, older than a lot of those leaked firmwares.

Guys, I just googled the lastest firmware, and the first link actually lets you download it for free because it's not marked exclusive/feature:
https://support.halabtech.com/index.php?a=downloads&b=folder&id=41306
They actually host it on a google drive link. I can pm it to you or you guys can create your own account, but could you help me tell if a firmware is legit or not? Don't want to brick.
Inside the archive is the 4 files:
CP_R805WVLU1BSL3_CL1315275_QB14570749_SIGNED.TAR.ZIP

https://android.stackexchange.com/q...msung-4-filesrepairing-firmware-and-single-fi
From here, it seems that Odin should be able to flash the 4 files separately fine as well? Only diff seems to be that single file won't wipe data, but the 4 file repair will.
***
https://samsungfirmware.net/how-to-flash-samsung-firmware-using-odin/
From here, it seems that both combination and 4 can be used.
I haven't opened up odin wifi version to see if it's the same as the regular odin, but if it has the normal BL/AP/CP/CSC boxes, then that should be fine. As long as the firmware matches the model.
***
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=search&s=r805w
There is a combination file for an older one on AndroidFileHost, but it's kinda random sitting there, so I didn't want to touch it.

I was able to download... after few times of unzip... the final result looks like this:
Code:
BL_R805WVLU1BSL3_usr.tar.[B]md5[/B]
AP_R805WVLU1BSL3_usr.tar[B].md5[/B]
CP_R805WVLU1BSL3_CL1315275_QB14570749_SIGNED.tar.[B]md5[/B]
CSC_OYV_R805WOYV1BSL3_usr.tar.[B]md5[/B]
netOdin is doing selfcheck, if MD5 Hashes of tar.md5 files are correct...
I was too lazy to do this.
For me these files looks correct for SM-R805W (XAC) to flash to latest BSL3 Firmware.

Any files with the .md5 means they are clean/legit? Samsung hashes the files and Odin will check the md5 to ensure the files are not tampered with? That sounds good... if Odin accepts, then the files should be good.

Newbie need help linking S9 to current country

Hi Have s9 G960F in service provide SW ver TEL/TEL/TEL - i beleive austalian telestra,
not getting any OTA updates - currently in Israel
tried google and search on forum, not found something 100% clear
Question 1 : is there any way without flashing new FW via odin to get OTA updates? (vpn, australian sim, fake location and etc...)
Question 2: if answer to question 1 is no, where to get stock Israel FW for G960F , and what is the best option for backup and restore
Thanks!
What is your current SW? According to sammobile the latest build is the BRJ6 (https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s9/SM-G960F/TEL/download/G960FXXS2BRJ6/246171/) if this one matches your current SW then there's no way you can get another udpate until, I assume Telestra is an Australian carrier, they release it...

My best option ALWAYS is Smartswitch, either for backup or SW update, if there's a new SW, Smartswitch downloads and installs it right away
seems telstra rolled out pie update
nothing in the phone, last update june2018

First, the csc is wrong, the link you posted is for Israel, not Australia, and second, once you downloaded the file, unzip it: once it's done you'll have 5 files(as you can see in the picture): AP, BL, CP AND 2 CSC home_ (that one won't erase a thing) and the csc (this one will format your phone)

If it's not on Sammobile yet it'll not be on Samsungs servers yet either, they are s**t hot at getting their links up as soon as it is available, plus the last update for the G960U1 was back in April, and seems to have been monthly up until then, then suddenly nothing for some reason

@OP - If the phone is requesting you to restart once you insert the SIM, that sounds as if you are flashing the wrong CSC (Region) for your SIM, SIM determines which CSC the phone receives so long as it is included in the Multi_CSC you have flashed and will prompt a restart to change CSC
ie: OXM contains XEU and DBT and dozens of others, if I insert a UK SIM it will default to XEU or BTU, if I insert a German SIM it will revert to DBT
Leave your SIM in when you flash, and flash a region your SIM is from, (maybe) some CSC restriction issue not supporting the SIMs/carriers bands (Total guess)

Yea they should work fine, only places I can see it causing an issue is where there are tight restrictions/regulations, like for example the CSC determines which features your phone can and cannot use, Call Recording is a good example, you can enable it by modifying those restrictions or flashing a CSC from a region it is allowed, the phone/firmware is completely capable it is just disabled

Yep that's right, it will remove all the carrier crap (I assume splash, definitely boot), just remember about the bootloader/baseband versions that cannot be downgraded so if you flash to version 4 you can only flash v4 or above after that
You will also receive updates direct from Samsung instead of the carrier

damnit. thats just my luck too :/ thank you for affirming my understanding of how this works. I came to the S9 recently but i do recall the odin flash process for the t-mobile S2's that required the individual files to be placed in Odin before flashing, so this is all old hat as far as the process goes. Any idea on how long it might be before the U1 firmwares are going to be available for V5?

Only Samsung knows, but a lot of firmwares are now on v5 so if I had to guess I'd say the next update probably will bump it up to v5, they said the security updates included in the June update required it to be updated
When it receives the next update is anyone's guess though
And yes, all 4 parts of the firmware to be flashed together in the corresponding ODIN sections, HOME_CSC will not reset the phone, CSC will reset it, use one or the other in the CSC section

Samsung Galaxy s9 Demo Security Error

Hello! This is my first post on any forum ever, so please be gentle.
Recently I dumpster dove behind a U.S. Cellular that had just gone out of business and I found this neat Samsung Galaxy S9 Live Demo phone. It was originally flashed with an SM-G960XU Firmware, but I wanted to de-demo mode it, so I thought I would flash an SM-G960U firmware on it instead.
This failed miserably and I now have the following error: "Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software...". A picture of the error, as well as the other information I have been able to glean from the locked phone is attached.
Unfortunately, I knew nothing about androids before attempting to flash the phone, so I have no other data about the phone other than what is in the pictures.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much,
Oronto
Meh... you have a parts queen, less the mobo.
Demo unit should be missing the baseband chip hardware inside, so even if you could flash the stock firmware you would be limited to using it with wifi.
Apart from that, what happens if you try to flash again with odin? i would try flashing the precedent firmware G960XU

Hi effry,
Thank you for your response. I would love to reflash it with its original firmware but I can’t find it anywhere on the internet! I did not realize I was supposed to back up the firmware before flashing it which was quite the mistake. Do you happen to know where I might be able to find this firmware?
Thank you very much,
Oronto
Start from here and check the exact phone model with the IMEI, it is printed on the bottom of the back of the phone (use a strong light, it's a small and light text)
Check Samsung IMEI information in SamFw.com
You can check Samsung IMEI information like Model, Region. And you can choose the exact firmware
samfw.com
After that you can use the same site to search for the correct firmware , donwload it and flash it with Odin

Hi Blackhawk,
Thanks for the response. What do you mean by a parts queen? Do you mean I should sell it for parts on eBay?
Thanks,
Oronto

A hangar queen is the actual terminology. An aircraft used for donor parts to keep others flying.
The display, frame, battery, C port pcb, cam module should be good. The mobo is useless for use as a phone except as noted with wifi.
So if you have another phone of the same model... you now have an Android queen

Hi effry,
Thank you again! I input the model’s serial number into the website you linked and it returned that the firmware is SM-G960XZKUXAR. Unfortunately, that website doesn’t have the firmware that it tells me the phone is supposed to have. I checked elsewhere on the internet but I can’t seem to find it. Is there an obscure website you know of that might have it?
Alternatively, do you think it is possible that I could flash it with another equivalent firmware? If so, what might you suggest?
Thank you very much,
Oronto

Hi blackhawk,
Thank you for your insight into which parts seem useful for scrapping. It is looking like I might have to do that. Unfortunately, I do not have an equivalent model, so I will have to sell it for parts if it comes down to that.
Thanks again,
Oronto

By looking online it seems that flashing the firmware with odin should fix the issue. Maybe you did something wrong in the process? i would try another odin flash using this firmware

Hello again effry,
I tried your firmwares and bad things have happened. It got to where the download was almost finished and then it displayed this error. Unfortunately Smart Switch Emergency Software Recovery does not register it as connected.
I believe I am boned. Thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Oronto

You could just replace the motherboard from Ebay for around 50 bucks (USD). Make sure it's a regular unlocked version (both FRP and network), any carrier will do since you can cross flash any firmware of your choice (no need for the demo anymore). Just a heads up, demo units sometimes are missing some of the LTE antenna cables/connectors, which would prevent the good replacement main board from working on cellular.

Hi billa,
Thanks for the advice. I’ll look into it, but I might end up just selling it for parts.
Thanks,

Tried to flash G988W firmware onto my G988U1 phone. SIM card not recognized

I live in Canada. I purchased an S20 Ultra off a seller on Canadian best buy (open box). I assumed it'd be a Canadian variant, but it was an unlocked US version (U1 firmware). OK whatever, but it meant my Samsung Pay doesn't work, along with a few other calling features.
I downloaded the patched Odin, downloaded the G988W firmware (with XAC CSC) with Frija, added the appropriate files to Odin (used Home CSC), and flashed it. The flashing itself went fine, but when I went to re-insert my SIM...nothing. It didn't even error out and say "No SIM Detected", I just had no coverage, and in SIM manager, both slots were empty.
Freaked out, and eventually flashed back to G988U1/XAA and thank Christ it works now. But my question is...why?
I dug though this forum before doing it to try and anticipate any issues. Followed the instructions to the letter, nowhere said this would be an issue. Couldn't even find any relevant support questions for this issue on this model. Not sure if it's a new development, but I absolutely don't want to risk messing my phone up further if I reattempt.
Bonus question: My CSC info is: XAA/XAA,XAA/SPR. Does that mean that it was originally a Sprint model phone, someone's flashed the firmware to an unbranded version, then sold it off as New (Open Box)?
You can't just flash a firmware from a different phone. The hardware is different, so the way to communicate with it is different. You're lucky it even booted, I wouldn't have expected that even. You're simply stuck with the original firmware and CSC list. Or, maybe you could try with custom ROMS but I wouldn't be so sure about it. Either way, you'll have to use a ROM/firmware that is built for your phone (G988U1).

Huh I thought the actual hardware between U1 and W was the same? They're both Snapdragons. Besides I've seen other posts of people doing the same (tbh, they were going from W to U1, but still)

Oh but you CAN.
U, U1, and W have all been cross-flashable ever since Samsung first introduced universal hardware, starting with the S8

Probably. Very common for online sellers to do.
The key probably lies in what the CSC shows as after flashing W firmware. If it stays as XAA, changing the CSC manually to a Canadian one could possibly make it work

I thought so too, lol
Any thoughts on why my flash caused the SIM issue? Did I maybe just install the wrong version? I don't think I did, I used Frija
Some further research led me to the subject of accidentally mucking up the modem firmware which I might have done

I Just did exactly the same and got a tmobile variant but want the W preferably the samsung factory rom not a carrier one. Which guide did you follow? I found this for the 21 Ultra and expect the steps to be similar https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-samsung-unlocked-bloatfree-firmware.4224423/
What calling features don't work in Canada? I have a W variant, live in Canada, and want an U1 to get esim working. I am also looking for a guide to follow to flash my phone.

Samsung Pay doesn't work - that's a big one for me, it's a pain in the **** losing that. Will only accept US ZIP codes when setting up.
Caller ID doesn't work
That extra info you get when texting (like seen/read stuff) doesn't work in the native Samsung text app, you have to use google messages (yeah, no)
I'm sure there's other stuff but those are the main ones
