Hi Have s9 G960F in service provide SW ver TEL/TEL/TEL - i beleive austalian telestra,
not getting any OTA updates - currently in Israel
tried google and search on forum, not found something 100% clear
Question 1 : is there any way without flashing new FW via odin to get OTA updates? (vpn, australian sim, fake location and etc...)
Question 2: if answer to question 1 is no, where to get stock Israel FW for G960F , and what is the best option for backup and restore
Thanks!
What is your current SW? According to sammobile the latest build is the BRJ6 (https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s9/SM-G960F/TEL/download/G960FXXS2BRJ6/246171/) if this one matches your current SW then there's no way you can get another udpate until, I assume Telestra is an Australian carrier, they release it...

In theory yes, but if you don't and they release a newer SW, you can just flash it iva Odin, don't it won't trip a thing nor void your warranty

My best option ALWAYS is Smartswitch, either for backup or SW update, if there's a new SW, Smartswitch downloads and installs it right away
seems telstra rolled out pie update
nothing in the phone, last update june2018
any last ideas before uing odin? maybe get australian sim card?
csc g960foxm1brf7 linked to australian telstra - not really should what to install as well

First, the csc is wrong, the link you posted is for Israel, not Australia, and second, once you downloaded the file, unzip it: once it's done you'll have 5 files(as you can see in the picture): AP, BL, CP AND 2 CSC home_ (that one won't erase a thing) and the csc (this one will format your phone)

Hi Guilds,
I just flashed T mobile firmware on S8 plus which was originally unlocked version. Found couple of glitches and I hope someone might had this issue before and can give some insight.
* After flashing full T mobile firmware and full reset from recovery I can see TMB/TMB/XAA. I am not sure why? Is there anyway to make
TMB/TMB/TMB ?
* I can not see VoLTE toggle in phone setting anymore . Anyone else?
Thanks in advance.

I just did the same. I can't see the VoLTE toggle anymore, but according to IMS Settings, it is turned on and activated. There's a thread here on how to verify it.
But where are you seeing TMB/TMB/XAA? I know those are the CSCs, but what app are you using to see them?

Look for the right files, use this formula and you'll be able to change CSC Code to your preferred carrier. For your case you'll change it to TMB from XAA which will change it to fully TMB/TMB/TMB.

Read all from the first step, It is more than just flashing CSC file. The link has steps on how to convert to a carrier of your choice, yours is Unlocked which is XAA, if i got you right you're trying to convert it to fully T-Mobile (TMB) so you can have all TMO's features.
It sounds difficult but if you find the right files, then read and understand what to do it is as easy as 1 2 4.
I've tried this and you CAN'T change the last code. It's stored in the efs file, and it only signifies what the original firmware was. It has no effect on features or updates when you change carrier firmware. To change it, you'd have to root the device.

I flashed....using prince's Odin.....
1. XAA (all 4 files)
2. Booted, setup, then took the June 1st update.
3. Get into download mode again
4. Flashed TMO user data to get video calling and flashed TMO CP to get RCS messaging
(You can do it separately or together)
And I ended up with the screenshot attached.
You won't see the option for Volte but it's on by default. You won't be able to turn it off.

Your device was originally the US Unlocked version?
I'm calling BS. I've tried every method for switching carrier and flashing the carrier firmware. You CAN NOT change the last CSC code to TMB. If you started with a US unlocked version, it will always read XAA. Everything I've read states you need root to change the last characters to XAA, as they are stored in the EFS file and cannot be changed.

No. I bought TMO S8+ from my local TMO store. I flash the unlock firmware to remove all the bloat. But I wanted the RCs and I wanted the native video calling. So after nearly two weeks (night and day) a flashing different combinations, I finally got everything to work, I have all T-Mobile features working.

Ok, that explains it. Then yes, your last CSC code will be TMB no matter what you flash. If you switch to VZW, it would read VZW/VZW/TMB. You probably didn't notice it with the unlocked firmware, because the unlocked firmware actually doesn't show any CSC in the About Screen.

You're absolutely right. U Firmware doesn't show it. I just reflashed the XAA firmware. I didn't really care for video calling or RCS. But I do care about better battery management which the XAA does better than the TMO firmware.

I don't understand the question
So on my T-Mobile s8+ it shows TMB/XAA/TMB, how can I get it back to TMB/TMB/TMB?
So I discovered that when I put my metro sim card in my S8+ the CSC turns from TMB/TMB/TMB to TMB/XAA/TMB, how can I get it to stay all T-Mobile, this is what is causing me to not be able to use Wi-Fi calling etc.
Im wanting to de-Cricket my S9
Its a G960U, so i assume that all i would really need to do is flash the U1 firmware, correct?
and if that is correct, it will give me a Sammy splash screen and boot animation too, yes? Perhaps some sophomoric questions, but im just making sure.

Yep that's right, it will remove all the carrier crap (I assume splash, definitely boot), just remember about the bootloader/baseband versions that cannot be downgraded so if you flash to version 4 you can only flash v4 or above after that
You will also receive updates direct from Samsung instead of the carrier

damnit. thats just my luck too :/ thank you for affirming my understanding of how this works. I came to the S9 recently but i do recall the odin flash process for the t-mobile S2's that required the individual files to be placed in Odin before flashing, so this is all old hat as far as the process goes. Any idea on how long it might be before the U1 firmwares are going to be available for V5?

Only Samsung knows, but a lot of firmwares are now on v5 so if I had to guess I'd say the next update probably will bump it up to v5, they said the security updates included in the June update required it to be updated
When it receives the next update is anyone's guess though
And yes, all 4 parts of the firmware to be flashed together in the corresponding ODIN sections, HOME_CSC will not reset the phone, CSC will reset it, use one or the other in the CSC section

Ever since I updated my phone my signal is bad. Constantly dropping from LTE to 4G. Is it possible to flash the older modem?
Appreciate other suggestions to improve signal
Would love to be able to do this too. I completely messed up my entire modem somehow (+1 for stupidity) - only getting 'No Network' now, flashed the latest version of the software using Odin, no Knox issues on bootup etc. Took it back to the shop and got it back this morning saying 'Unauthorised rework' carried out - out of warrany, get a new phone
The modem is in the CSC file if I remember correclty, even though I reflashed that successfully, still no luck.
So I'm happy to try anything, not like I've got anything to lose!

could somebody please tell me the software version I should use for the International A70 SM-A705MN. which is working great on T mobile in Florida. want to root, and try out some customs Thank You.
Hi all,
Just want to make sure I am doing this correctly and ask a few questions on the way. I have ordered an unlocked Note 10+ direct from Samsung because I really wanted Aura Blue (plus totally bonkers pre-BF discounts). My understanding is that, as I use T-Mobile, the radios are not going to be optimized for T-Mobile's network, leading to crappier call quality, and some features will not work.
1. Is this correct?
If so, my understanding is that I can use Odin to flash the T-Mobile firmware without rooting or unlocking the bootloader, and this will allow the phone to work as though I purchased it from T-Mobile. Assuming that I have this right so far, I need to download and install Odin, download the most recent T-Mobile firmware from here: https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/firmware/SM-N975U/TMB/
and install according to the instructions on the page for "5 Files" (https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g...e/SM-N975U/TMB/download/N975USQS2ASJ8/299552/).
2. So far so good? Do I have this right so far?
3. Sometimes my wifi gets wonky and file downloads get corrupted. Is there a way to ensure the integrity of the file before I install it onto my phone?
4. I understand that there will be a lot of Samsung and T-Mobile Bloatware. To remove this, I just follow these instructions via ADB, is that right?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...msung-galaxy-note-10-note-10-debloat-t3964027
or these: https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/disable-bloatware-for-free-your-galaxy-note-10-10-0207598/
5. Anything I'm missing?
Thanks in advance for the help. I haven't used these programs since my Galaxy S3 so I'm quite rusty.
The directions look pretty accurate, but there's a few other things you will need to do.
Don't use the home_csc when flashing the Tmobile firmware to the device. Also you will want to place the userdata file into the correct spot on the odin flashing tool. The userdata contains all the carrier specific stuff.
Do a factory data reset before you flash the Tmobile firmware (to remove the FRP lock). After flashing the Tmobile firmware be sure to do another factory data reset to ensure things (OTA, etc) work properly.
As for the download you could try using samfirm and having it check the CRC32. Checking the CRC will double check the file integrity. I don't have samfirm anymore on my PC because I upgraded to the Note 10+, but someone else may have a link to a download (or you can google search it to locate it.. Which is what I did to obtain the app before).
As for the bloat I just uninstalled what apps I could that I didn't need, and for the others I used an app from Google Play Store to disable them. I do suggest that you try disabling apps first and not trying to remove them. If you remove the wrong app you will undoubtedly encounter issues/problems.

Okay, so use CSC_*** rather than HOME_CSC? Will Odin tell me about how to place the userdata into the correct spot?

Will I still need to do the factory data reset if I basically take it out of the box, make sure it works, and then flash it? Can't hurt, I guess, I just want to be clear about my timeframe on installation.

As for the bloat I just uninstalled what apps I could that I didn't need, and for the others I used an app from Google Play Store to disable them. I do suggest that you try disabling apps first and not trying to remove them. If you remove the wrong app you will undoubtedly encounter issues/problems.

Gotcha. Do you recall which app you used? I guess I could just hide them in a launcher app, too, but I am particularly miffed about the fact that Facebook apparently comes pre-installed and can't be uninstalled on the unlocked N10+ (though I do not have one in my hands and obviously can't confirm myself as a result).
Thanks!

Okay, so use CSC_*** rather than HOME_CSC? Will Odin tell me about how to place the userdata into the correct spot?

Yes use the CSC_*** and not the HOME_CSC when flashing.
For the userdata you should see it when you look at the Odin interface. Essentially as you place the 5 individual parts into each appropriate spot in Odin, you should see the 6th spot labled userdata.

Will I still need to do the factory data reset if I basically take it out of the box, make sure it works, and then flash it? Can't hurt, I guess, I just want to be clear about my timeframe on installation.

If you just take it out of the box, turn it on and do not add a Google Account to it then you can just skip the factory data reset.
If you just take it out of the box, turn it on and add a google account to it then you will want to factory data reset it before flashing it with the carrier firmware.

I use CCSWE App Manager for disabling apps I don't want to use. It's a paid app, but it doesn't cost that much if I recall correctly (think a few bucks... It's been a while since I bought it).

If by "self explanatory" you mean the firmware file with the word USERDATA as part of it's name goes into the the spot on odin labled "USERDATA"... Then yes

@scottusa2008 Can you clarify this for me? In SM-N975U1 and SM-975U both have T mobile(TMB).
1. Can you explain why are we flash use file from U version instead of U1?
2. Do I download the latest version of the file?
3. If I want to flash back to original for return or warranty which file do I need?
I need to confirm these information so I purchase the phone tommorow

My responses in this thread pertained to the OP asking about flashing U firmware onto his/her U1 model phone. Even if "both" have it (and I used both) I only got the full functionality available from the carrier when I flashed the carrier firmware.
Otherwise I got generic one size fits all functionality with the U1 firmware... Which was fairly decent, but the U firmware was a better performer for Tmobile IMHO.
But flash what you want and see what changes. If you did research onto the subject then you should be aware of the bootloader version (explained further below).

Not sure why this is still a problem to understand? It's been answered before and even on different threads/forums if you search for knowledge. Or go ahead and try it to find out... Either way here's how I understand it (and from past experience).
Unless things have drastically changed (which I have not heard have or seen) firmware for the U1 model is unbranded firmware. It's has a carrier bloat free experience, configured to obtain updates through samsung with a generic one size fits all carrier compatibility pending on what sim card is installed. Once installed the phone configures itself based on what sim card settings are present and (from poking around on my last rooted phone and from what I can remember) some configuration scripts on the phone (enabling/disabling bands and etc). This is why some features won't work and some will, but again it depends on the carrier and what the carrier requires.
Unlike the U1 firmware the U firmware is carrier specific and contains customizations/tweaks for said carrier by that carrier. The firmware also will contain changes made by the carrier and any carrier specific apps.

If your going to flash firmware then you flash either the U1 firmware or the U firmware. You shouldn't mix and match firmware parts.. Just pay attention to the bootloader version of the firmware. You can only flash firmware that has a bootloader version equal too or greater then that of what is currently on the phone.

Only if the bootloader is equal to or greater then what is currently on the phone then yes.

Sorry I could not get back sooner but had to work to pay the bills. As a side note you can find all of your answers on the internet. None of this is special access private information, it's been covered quite extensively.
Tried everything. Searched through the webs for past couple of days. Everything failed.
Majority of articles are from times of Ancient Rome. None work and are outdated.
Reflashed stock with nand erase and pit file. Checked and failed.
Tried root related solutions? Checked and failed.
Searched modem file. Failed.
Downgrade to prev version? No longer plausible. Due to BIT.
I flashed and reflashed with odin numerious of times. Nothing. Useless. Absolutely useless.
did u solve it?
Did you guys find anything? I think I'm gonna go check at a repair shop for someone with the z3x box and hope for the best.

Nope, he said no matter what rom he flashed it was always unknown IMEI.
However I found something interesting, turns out my IMEI and baseband numbers are intact when I check them from recovery. Maybe downgrading this phone should fix that, although I'm not sure if it is possible.

no, its not possible because of the bit.... can you try using an old modem to see if it solves the problem?

its the CP file in odin
try flashing one from may or august.. don't try november or newer
You need to download an older firmware (older than november, never try that ****ty november update!) of your country's a32 and use just the cp file

I'll get an older firmware from sammobile and get back to you if anything different happens. Just as a note, someone here on XDA said they were able to downgrade when using a Magisk altered ROM.
Edit: I found something similar on another samsung phone here on XDA: thread here.

Could you flash it with a magisk modified rom?
@Mighty_Rearranger maybe you could try flashing an android 12 gsi? https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...sing-odin-without-twrp-phh-lineageos.4114435/ I don't have the phone with me right now so I can't test it

OK I tried doing that and now phone is bootlooping with secure check fail md1img error, that's the anti-downgrade thing complaining. No luck down the downgrade hallway.
I think the only option is to wait for a possible solution from the Magisk people or check if a future update somehow fixes the problem.

how do you check them from recovery? I was able to see them once after a botched flashing, entering download mode, there was a "show barcode" option or something like that.
I have read in an older thread in this forum, some guy solved it by downgrading, but to a version which is impossible to downgrade to for us, because our phones already came with the AUJ4 firm, and acannot go back.
