Is there a widget to switch between quadhd/60fps and 1080p/120hz? - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

It sure would be a really convenient widget to watch the occasional youtube video in the highest resolution possible and situations such as that.

You can use bixby routines but it doesn't support refresh rate changes. Only resolution.

Wallpapers with TouchFlo running

I cannot seem to find the answer to what i have a question on, i see so many cool wallpapers and i dont know how to get them to run on my HD whilst TF is active. Seems I can only get my today screen to reflect the photo i select if i turn OFF touch flo, no good. Support? Thanks
Set the wallpaper via the setting menu on TouchFlo3D rather than the settings for the Today screen.
yes, bt doing so yeilds a low quality picture. any idea how we can set a high resolution pic (800x480) as the background to actually use the screen's full potential?

it is possible but the only way of doing it is a complex hack which is rather time consuming and the results are not perfect. if you would like me to write up the instructions i will do so when i get back on my pc. (browsing on my phone atm) the hack involves inserting pngs into system files and hex edits.
I've created a theme with a high quality wallpaper which you can find here

[Q] Does anyone switch back and forth between Adaptive Display settings?

Hi:
Does anyone switch back and forth between adaptive display, amoled cinema, amoled photo or basic to save battery or for other reasons?
Thanks,
Tom
I leave it set to adaptive display, If you are into photography, basic mode has the least colour saturation.
I use the stock video player as it is supported by the adaptive display when third-party ones are not, I sometimes turn the adaptive display off in the video player, just press the icon at the top right of the screen as some video`s seem to look better.
I doubt there is any real difference in power usage, if there is it will be minimum.
I have been trying to work out how much extra power that software decoding use over hardware decoding in the stock video player, I watch most video`s at 640x360 resolution as i can fit more on my 64gb microsd, and software uses around 650ma a hour and hardware use around 550ma an hour with low brightness as i prefer to watch at night, also be aware higher resolution video`s use more battery power as the cpu and gpu has to work harder, more reason to use lower resolution video files.

why video apps do not utilize the entire screen?

Slingplayer, Xfinity, MX player etc...aside from Google Play movies, I have not found a video app that uses the full 6" screen. Slingplayer and Xfinity leave what looks to me to be over 1/4" of the screen on the right side blacked out. Is this universal or an issue with my phone? Is there a setting somewhere I haven't found to force full screen for video?
I am completely stock 8.1 at the moment...I don't think I should have to do something via adb like forcing immersive mode for something like being able to use my whole screen to watch video???
thanks for any and all input
I think this has to do with the apps themselves being updated to support the aspect ratio. As of now some apps support it and others dont, in time they will update.
It's likely because our screen is 1440 pixels x 2880 pixels (an 18:9 ratio). Most video conform to the regular 16:9 ratio. Because our screen is slightly wider than traditional, there are basically three options:
- Leave empty space as unused on the left/right side of the screen, which is default for most video apps that would otherwise be full screen. The video remains properly proportioned.
- Stretch the video to fill the screen. This would cause slight distortion on the video.
- Zoom the video to fill the screen. This causes you to lose a tiny bit on the top/bottom of the image, and might result in a tiny tiny bit of loss-of-clarity. But the video remains properly proportioned and unskewed. You can zoom in on YouTube videos with a pinch gesture to see this in action.
I'm sure that some more apps will likely adapt similarly to YouTube, but it may take some time.

About this app:
Refresh Rate Mods
Change default refresh rates

-Set supported mid refresh rates as the maximum refresh rate limit for battery savings (e.g. 96hz instead of 120Hz).
-Quick settings shortcut
-tasker plugin support.
Motion smoothness mode switcher(Normal, Adaptive or High)***
-Set you device motion smoothness mode to stationary refresh rates (high mode) for better smoothness if so desired on Samsung devices with native Adaptive motion smoothness with a little trade-off to the battery.
-Apply adaptive mod on device that don't natively support adaptive mode [premium]
-Tasker plugin support.
Per-app refresh rate settings:
Set different refresh rate settings for every app either adaptive or fixed(stationary) [premium].
Motion smoothness on power saving mode (not working to all devices with OneUI4.**+, test first). ***
-GMH will apply a workaround to bypass 60Hz limitation on Power Saving Mode (PSM) on supported Samsung smartphones.
-Automatically apply workaround when PSM is enabled [premium]
Note: Stopped working out-of-the-box on Note 20 Ultra updated to OneUI4.*. Extra steps alread required:Extra steps to bypass restriction on OneUI4.*/5.*. After selecting Adaptive or High in GMH while on power saving mode, do either: - Do a quick fake/mock video call to any number using the stock video call app(not google duo). Availability depends on network supportOR- Connect and disconnect to a wifi display or miracast receiver (e.g. smart tv, chromecast, windows laptops) using the Smart View function (Credits to @albiGib and @rblckmnjr84 for sharing the discovery)OR see Game booster methodScreen-off Mods:
Force to Lowest Hz: Force the lowest refresh rate on screen-off or Always-On Display(AOD). This overrides Samsung's strange stock behavior which sets the refresh rate to the highest on screen off (update: it is now at 60hz since OneUI3.0) to improve standby power consumption a bit.
-Tasker plugin support
Auto apply power saving mode during screen-off (after ~ 10 secs)***
Auto disable Autosync***
Quick-doze mod
-Quickly enter doze mode during screen-off that can not be interrupted by motion [premium].***
-Tasker plugin support
Auto SENSORS OFF (experimental non-root workaround)
-Device sensors will automatically turn off while screen is off until the device is unlocked to help minimize battery-draining motion-triggered wakelocks while device is not being used.
-Tasker plug-in support
- Supports up to OneUI4.1 only (api blocked in OneUI5)
Others
Battery protection mod (Experimental)
-Option to set maximum charge to 86%-95%(for OneUI4+)[premium]
Quick resolution switcher
-Easily switch to any supported resolutions using the included quick setting tile***
-Tasker plugin support
Caution!! Be careful on applying CQHD+ on Note20Ultra with OneUI4.* - it causes the UI to shrink after reboot or long sleep that causes difficulty on entering the lockscreen.
Customizable refresh rate monitor
-Use statusbar or overlay which you can place anywhere on screen.
-Tasker plugin support.
Net speed statusbar indicator
OneUI inspired UI. Dynamic theme and Icon. Manual language selection
Note: The premium license is on a per device basis (not per user).

Love having the fps toggle in the qs. Thanks for the update.
Dumb question tho; does this change anything when set to 120hz? Most thing's I'm reading are people setting it lower to save battery and all. Just curious.
Thanks for the app

Thanks for the app! Great design. I have noticed that 96hz drops more regularly to 60hz than 120hz seems to. Is this the expected behaviour of the two modes?

You will not be able to see it on full screen apps like most of the games.
The screen doesn't seem to fall below 60fps even when idling. Is that normal? I thought it is supposed to drop to around 10fps when idling. Can you, please, explain how the stock behavior is?
Edit: I read in other threads that the Adaptive Refresh of the Note 20 U almost never drops below 60fps, and sometimes very rarely drops to 48hz. So despite Samsung's claims, it seems that the screen does not, in fact, ever drop to ~10 under any circumstances. I think Samsung could push an update to improve this, and thereby improving battery life.

Themes / Apps / Mods [App]Galaxy Max Hz (Refresh Rate Mods, Screen-off Mods and More)

About this app:
Refresh Rate Control: Easily control the max refresh rate (Hz) of android devices with multiple refresh rates (e.g. note20 ultra, s20/S20+/S20Ultra, z fold 2, s21/s21+/s21Ultra, tab S7/S7+). This app can limit max refresh rate to 96hz (or any available refresh rate) on supported smartphones - you can save power with negligible difference on smoothness. Use either the in-app toggle or quick settings tile - ADB setup or Root NOT needed.
Switch to High: Option to use High(Fixed) motion smoothness mode on Samsung devices with native Adaptive motion smoothness***
Current Samsung smartphones natively supporting adaptive refresh rates:
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
Galaxy Z Fold 2
Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra
Refresh Rate Monitor: Observe how multiple refresh rates work on your device. Use either the in-app toggle or quick settings tile
Quick Resolution Switcher: Easily switch to any supported resolutions using the included quick setting tile***
Quick High/Adaptive on Power Saving Mode: Easily switch to high or adaptive motion smoothness mode (from Standard) even on power saving mode on supported Samsung smartphones.***
Force to Lowest Hz: Force lowest refresh rate on screen-off/AOD. This overrides Samsung's strange stock behavior which sets the refresh rate to the highest on screen off (update: it is now at 60hz since oneui3.0) - to improve standby power consumption a bit - ADB setup or Root NOT needed.
Auto apply power saving mode during screen-off***
Tasker plugin support: Automate GMH settings using Tasker plugin support. Supported actions/variables: Max Refresh Rate, Keep Motion Smoothness on PSM, Motion Smoothness Mode, Quick-doze Mod, Change Screen Resolution.
Ad-Free Exclusive Features:
Keep motion smoothness when power saving mode is enabled - either manually or by the system/adaptive power saving***
