Flashing white pixel near camera - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

I just got this phone a few days ago and I noticed sometimes when I unlock the phone there's a flashing circle of pixels near the camera.
Is this normal or did I get a defective device?
This only happens when I unlock the phone and not all the time. Maybe happens 3 out of 5 times. It still bothers me tho.
On the note 10 I saw there was the same flashing circle and they claim its the proximity sensor. If it is a proximity sensor, is there anyway to stop it from lighting up?
PS: I couldn't upload the video so I attached a screenshot from the video

I have the same on s20+5g exynos but only when I make call.

Proximity sensor as well??
I think so

This is the proximity sensor and it is active during phone calls and unlocking.

I noticed this on the first day I took delivery of my s20+.
Dont panic. It's just the proximity sensor.
You can test this by making a phone call, that place will start to blink. Cover it with a finger, you'll see the screen going blank.
I learned this from the note 10 community. It's present on the note 10 as well.

Its the proximity sensor. WHen on a call, pop your finger over it and watch your display turn off

I can see the hole for the front-facing camera in my TMOUSA TP2

Is everyone 100% sure that the TMO TP2 doesn't secretly have a front-facing camera? (just like how the HD2 secretly had extra RAM)
I can see the hole, exactly where it is supposed to be in the international version. I'm wondering if there is a camera behind it.. or just a hole...
I just realized that the hole was there after looking very very closely. Its to the right of the speaker that you hold your ear up to.
Just some food for thought
EDIT:
-Oh and its not the proximity sensor, that's on the left side of the front speaker
-And I put my phone on auto-adjust backlight and when I put my finger over it, the backlight doesn't change so I doubt that it is the light-sensor either
i know what ur ralking about i thought that it was for more sound, like a bass or something

ME TOO! lol
Make a phone call and then cover that hole with your finger and see if the screen turns off. My guess is it's the proximity sensor.

the proximity sensor on the tilt 2 and similar touch pro 2's is above the c in htc. if you tilt the light just right you can see it. the european touch pro 2 has the camera where my carrier logo is. im not sure what that is on the tmobile version but i dont think its the camera. or even the proximity sensor.
The front-facing camera on my UK TP2 is a lot further away from the centre of the phone than that.
That is not a camera. That's the light sensor used to auto-adjust the screen brightness.

Nope, its definitely not the proximity sensor... that's on the left of the front speaker.

When I adjust the lighting for only the spot where I think the camera is, my phone does not adjust its backlight...
So you could still be right, but right now I doubt its the light-sensor

Actually it does...try this: hold your thumb over that spot for about 5 seconds, then pull it away...within 2 seconds the screen will probably dim. I just did this test at my desk, under normal flourescent office lights, and that's what happened. I repeated it 3 times with the same results.

no thats not the light sensor. the light sensor is the speaker grill on the right. it looks like a notification led that never lights up. still not sure what that circle is but i have a feeling its nothing.

Proximity sensor brightness

Hello,
I know its normal for the proximity sensor to display a red light while using direct call or on a call. But I find my proximity sensor noticeable brighter then my sisters phone. Comparing the two, you can barley see any light coming form her sensor, unless your in a darkroom. I can see mine clearing in a well lit room. The Sensor works... I just don't know why mine is brighter then hers.
If anyone can provide me with an answer I would greatly appreciated it.
Also I don't know if this would matter but mine is the pebble blue and my sister has the marble white.
Thanks.
Anyone?
Your phone is possessed....take a hammer to it or send it to me
Seriously...I see the same thing with some of the guys at work...no biggie. As long as it works...no need to worry.

It's more of a curiosity. It doesn't make sense why mine would be brighter. Don't know if it's a defect or not. Want to make sure before my 14 day exchange period is up.

fingerprint sensor

Anyone one else having trouble work the biometric
Fingerprint sensor? Mine is slow to recognize my fingers.
My hands are clean, no lotion
Or oils.
I also think it's a bit slow relative to my last phone, Huawei Honor 8. That phone's fingerprint sensor was instantaneous so far as I could tell. The Pixel 2's is certainly not as fast despite what a few reports have said.
Seems pretty instantaneous to me. My only other experience with fingerprint sensors is on my wife's Pixel, and the 2 XL seems about the same speed. I certainly have no complaints; it's a lot faster than entering a PIN, or pattern which is where I've been.
My Pixel 2 XL fingerprint sensor is noticeably faster than the Pixel 1 XL, which was noticeably faster than the Nexus 6P.

That's odd because my Nexus 6P started having problems reading my right index finger but my Pixel 2 XL reads it fine.
I've heard that if you register the same finger twice it may recognize it faster?? I'm coming from a Z Force, which was pretty quick. I really miss hitting the fingerprint sensor to turn the screen off.
Must be some kind of fingerprint sensor lottery lol. Mine is way slower than my old OnePlus 3T. Yet still quick enough

Ultrasonic Sensor?

Kind of a random question but does anyone know if the Moto Display runs off an ultrasonic sensor? Considering there’s only one true proximity sensor I can’t imagine that powers the Moto Display like other moto models. Also if I’m in a well lit room and have the phone set on a counter or something I can hear a pulsing noise from the speaker until something gets close, then it shuts off and Moto Display comes up? Surely nobody has noticed that but I just randomly discovered it and was curious, CPU-Z just says it has a moto glace sensor

Fingerprint sensor

Everytime I see videos about the Note 10+ under screen fingerprint sensor, usually YouTube. They quickly go to the sensor, just briefly touch it and their phone unlocks. I have to press screen firmly, hold it there for about 1/2 or a full second, then it unlocks. What am I doing wrong
I see there same results
Hard to say, mine works super fast, but in fact I do not use any type of unlocking security! I never leave my phone unattended, and I have no sensitive content stored in it, so…
Mine works great even with Whitestone screen protector. What I do when registering, I use left thumb, then right. I do this until 1st print is registered and continue the same for 2and 3rd and 4th

I find it to be pretty poor compared to normal fingerprint sensors but does the job for the most part. It was definitely better before I installed a Whitestone screen protector, comparable to the optical unit on the ROG Phone 2.
I find a quick tap does sometimes work but most often I get a message to say press harder or something similar.
Coming from OnePlus 7 Pro..this FP sensor is just horrible...I can't even get it to unlock 50% of time
2 things: you can change the screen sensitivity and that may help register with less pressure or time spent pressing. Also, I would remove the troublesome registered print and register again. Make sure you aren't pressing super hard during registration, and get every angle and position of that finger possible.
Doing this, I've had no issues with using the reader.

I still struggle sometimes with the fingerprint sensor not being always dependable 'at will'. It's a great phone, but this problem is very frustrating to me, too much of a contrast to this phone's all other qualities.
Now in the Winter the problem gets worse, dry air=dry skin, at home I can use some hand moisturizer(it helps), but I don't think that's what the sensor designers hoped for to improve sensor's reliability.
I'm on it since S10 which I returned for the very same reason shortly after purchasing it about a year ago and replaced it with S10e, a phone that was perfect and free from my frustrations. Yet I swapped the S10e for N10+ just to have a bigger screen for reading my ebooks on it. Somehow I convinced myself that the sensor will have totally new hardware. Well, they did improve the software, the sensor in N10 is the same, more accurate in my opinion though, but it still lags behind expectations for a flagship, or rather, as I call it referring to its price: a battleship.
So, my new resolve now is to aim for S11(it all depends on Samsung's generosity with the N10 swap), not much”leaks” around about the S11 specs but I think they have a brand new and bigger, ultrasonic sensor in the works.

I removed my existing fingerprint registrations and did it as you suggested, 4 times slowly without to much pressure.
Now my fingerprint function is working flawlessly without any issues.
