Today I finally wanted to update a Sony XA2 installation that had been running LineageOS 15.1 for quite a while to 17.1. But of course I wanted to make a backup first. Then I realized that to back up the SMS database I needed root, so I tried to sideload addonsu 15.1. For some reason that failed, and I tried to boot into TWRP to try sideload from there. But now the device only boots TWRP.
Does this mean that the LineageOS installation is gone now? Or is there some way that I can get access to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db on the Lineage installation?

Hey there,
I've installed TWRP 3.2.1.0 and LineageOS offical 14.1 ROM (Android 7.1.2) after xmas. I have made a upgrade to nightly build at 5. jan. 18.
Today I want to load the 12.2.18 update. System download the updatefile and want to reboot to TWRP.
But TWRP show me only the splash-screen and crash - and its start over. no update possible.
System has running fine until today, so how can I go back to normal LineageOS boot?
Please help, iI didnt find useful tips before.
UPDATE: I found the problem. I format the external sd card as internal memory. when i remove the sdcard while booting TWRP start successful. maybe a hint for a dev who's reading here.....

Hello
i would like try Lineageos, I went from BenzoRom To lineage-15.1-20181114-nightly-marlin-signed
I follow this link
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-pixel-xl-lineageos-15-1/
but when a reboot twrp 3.2.3-1 ( marlin in the slot A ) it say
" NO os installed ! ..... "
Where am i wrong?
Lele
Ps I can see lineage recovery mode
Which benzo room did you come from?
If you came from a 9.0 rom you may have to flash factory 8.1 before going to lineage 15.1.
Download lineage 16, wipe system/cache/data, install lineage 16 and twrp, reboot to recovery, install gapps, reboot, profit
It says that, doesn't mean it's true. Happens to me as well.
Sorry I did not get the notification!!!
Thank i will try
Leel
I am having a very similar problem with my Google Pixel (model G-2PW4100, not XL). After spending many hours attempting to install LineageOS 15.1 (LOS) and executing just about every possible permutation of installation steps, I am at a loss for why it is failing. I get the "No OS installed", yet sometimes when I reboot after installing the LOS zip file via TWRP I am able to boot to the LOS 15.1 recovery; however, a subsequent reboot always takes me back to the bootloader menu.
I am using the following files:
(Google OTA stock 8.1.0 (OPM4.171019.021.P1, Jul 2018)): sailfish-ota-opm4.171019.021.p1-9fe2c539.zip
(LOS-zip): lineage-15.1-20181229-nightly-sailfish-signed.zip
(TWRP-img): twrp-3.2.3-1-sailfish.img
I start by booting to the bootloader menu (POWER+VOLUME DOWN from OFF). With the phone connected to USB, on the host machine I execute
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-1-sailfish.img
which boots into TWRP recovery. There I use
Code:
adb push sailfish-ota-opm4.171019.021.p1-9fe2c539.zip /sdcard/
to push the stock Google image, and then I use TWRP's install from zip file. It successfully reboots to the stock Android and I can go through the phone setup and everything works fine. Next, I power off the phone and then boot to the bootloader menu. I repeat the fastboot command above to load TWRP recovery. In TWRP, I use adb push to push the LOS zip file. I follow the LOS wiki "sailfish" installation instructions precisely from that point, but I am never able to boot into a working LOS system. It either loads the custom LOS 15.1 recovery one time, after which it reboots to the bootloader, or it just reboots to the bootloader. I have tried repeating these steps in an attempt to install the same software on both slots A and B in case that is an issue, but it does not make any difference.
Can someone help me figure out what I am doing wrong?
Installation of LineageOS 18.1These are my experiences installing LineageOS on my OnePlus 7T. I come from a Oneplus 3T LineageOS 18.1.
Installation worked smoothly after I found the correct files to download: I used TWRP 3.6 hotdog (not hotdogv2), latest LineageOS build, copy-partitions-20210323_1922.zip, OpenGApps pico.
I was a bit surprised that after I installed LineageOS und rebooted into recovery to flash the GApps, I got into LineageOS recovery instead of TWRP (I guess because it's been installed on A/B partitions).
Restore of my apps and dataMost trouble made the Backup/Restore from my old phone. I made a local backup using SeedVault (Build-in in LineageOS). The final backup was only ~1,5GB in size. To copy the folder to the new phone I had to go through the setup process skipping all other methods to restore the data. Then I copied the files using "adb pull -a /sdcard/.SeedVaultAndroidBackup/ ." on the old phone and "adb push .SeedVaultAndroidBackup/ /sdcard/.SeedVaultAndroidBackup" on the new phone. Then I searched for a method to start the restore process and found this: "Go to your dialer app and type *#*#7378673#*#* or use the vanity number *#*#RESTORE#*#* by typing the letters in your dialer". I was surprised how well all went. Most app data was restored (some not, like sensitive banking app data), but no images or other files which was best considering the size of my data. I copied these files afterwards.
Problem with Google calendar syncUnfortunately, I recognised a few days later that the google calendar sync did not work any more. Using "adb logcat" to find the reason, I got this:
Code:
W GooglePlayServicesUtil: com.google.android.syncadapters.calendar requires the Google Play Store, but it is missing.
E GooglePlayServicesUtil: GooglePlayServices not available due to error 9
So this came as a surprise. I don't know what to make of that. I should have Google's method to transfer the data I suppose. That worked with my wife's phone even from an older android version.
I suspected
1) that it might be a problem with the google play certification and tried to register my phone with google as described here: https://www.lineageos.org/Google-Play-Certification/, but that changed nothing.
2) a problem with the SeedVault data restore.
Any idea what might be the problem and whether a factory reset would fix the problem?
I am also experiencing this problem on my Oneplus 9 running LineageOS 18.1. Last successful sync was on the fifth of march. I think this is a problem introduced in the LineageOS version I flashed on the sixth of march but I am not sure.
I could replicate the problem with a second device. Replication steps: Clean install of LineageOS (older version, so that you can make an update later) with Open GApps. Login to google account during the setup. Activate calendar sync. Update to new version of LOS => calendar sync stops to work.
I did the same with MindTheGApps and it works. So it was my mistake to install the wrong version of the GApps (on the installation page of LineageOS, MindTheGApps is recommended).
Side note: How to make a clean install: Reboot into recovery, do a factory reset, adb sideload LineageOS, reboot into recovery again without booting into the OS and adb sideload the GApps package.
How to switch from Open GApps to MindTheGApps: Do a clean install. I tried to do an installation without a factory reset but that did not fix the problem.
Disclaimer: I'm an end user with IT background. I'm in the process of migrating to LOS on OP7T.
(Support file from HIRU --> https://androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=305216) installed and now stuck up completely, seems improper installation. play store app not installed, tried thru apk installer, crashed. due to some other missing files, no app working even tried thru apk file installer.
