Tried to find answers for these, but struggled given the enormous replies on some thread with little help from search results.
1- I read that viper 10 magisk doesn't have the theme app or options, so how is it different from stock?
2- Can flash the magisk version directly? I'm rooted with MagiskSU.
3- Does it matter if a magisk rom is pre-rooted? Do I have to disable MagiskSU before flasing a rooted Magisk rom?
4- Why are Magisk roms small in size?
Cheers

1. I'm not aware of such issues. Search the Viper10 and/or LeeDroid threads for info on that. When I tried the Magisk version of Viper10, the theming worked fine.
2&3. The Magisk ROM isn't pre rooted. Once you install Magisk, which you've already done, you can install the Magisk ROM. The Magisk ROM relies on Magisk...so don't disable it.
4. You're not flashing a full ROM, the Magisk versions of the ROMs install the files needed for it to function as such. The base is what your phone has, rather than flashing the classic/full ROMs that include the base in the installer.

The magisk version of our rom is a magisk module, about 180MB in size.
You can disable that module anytime in the magisk manager app...so you are 100% stock again within seconds.
That is the whole purpose of the magisk rom, to not touch the orignal system, but stil offer all customizations the classic rom does as well.
To Point 1.) not sure where you read that...thats absolutely not true. It comes with all mods and customizations like the classic rom..
The rom is so small, because it just comes with the files that are modified by us and then gets "merged" with the stock rom you are running.
Viper10 has a LOT of options, from theming to tweaks. I've never used Leedroid myself so I don't know how good that one is for offering customization options, but Viper10 hasn't let me down. Viper itself is pretty similar to the stock ROM in terms of appearance though, but you can change that if you want (I'm personally enjoying some of the new overlays that can be enabled such as the side panel.)
Hello there,
I've checked out a few threads but can't find any pertaining to my exact situation.
So I'm on OB28, so Oreo OOS, tried a few proposed sound mods but none of them seem to work or else I'm doing something wrong.
Flashed a few compatible TWRP recoveries and rooted. Tried that ARISE mod but either the mods I'm interested in don't work or seem to give me FCs on reboot. Tried random dolby zips which don't do anything. I've even had a "factory data reset" message on startup with an automatic reboot to recovery.
Is there any decent audio mod that works on Oreo OOS (preferably Dolby)? If so, please show me how to get this done.
Thanks
There is no practical way to get Dolby Atmos working on Oreo as of now. Dolby Digital, however, can work. You can flash this mod by guitardedhero:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74880570&postcount=31701
Note that every other audio mod needs to be removed including any in Magisk for this to work. Viper can be flashed after this works but not a priori. SELinux permissive is necessary.

Hello,
is there any magisk or xposed module which mods the Oreo Quick Settings into Nougat quick settings? Is that even possible?
Or is there a Custom ROM on Oreo which has this? I loved the 'tap to expand' feature.
I mean the Oreo and also Android P Quick settings are a huge step back in my opinion.
Thank you in advance.
There is a custom ROM that does this but I don't remember which one it was.
One of the Lineage based 8.1 ROM's.
I just remember someone complaining about it in one of the custom ROM threads and the dev said that's the way the like it.
Actually, it might have been one of the G+ ROM's that you don't find on XDA.
Like Screwd.

Download and install the xposed installer first and download zip through it.
- Install Magisk
- Go to Download section, search for xposed
- Install the xPosed installer for Magisk given in the text link
- Install the suitable framework
works and does not get kicked out by ROM updates.
Xposed doesn't work on miui 10 for our device. It gives bootloop.
I believe SELinux has to be _permissive_

I have seen you referring this microG many times with much admiration. The only microG I know is a small app required to sign in YouTube vanced and the older og YouTube. But of course you are talking about something much more complex. So what is that much useful that microG and fake gapps offer? I predict that it might need a lengthy answer so a summary would be good enough too.

Raptorddd, it is not possible using xPosed modules or framework on MIUI based ROMs. I was merely answering the general question if it can be installed on the Redmi Note 5. That question did not ask for MIUI.
To make that clear once again to all other users:
- MIUI uses a special framework that does not allow working with usual xPosed framwork
- Oreo AOSP and LIneage based ROMs do install and work with xPosed.
I have never used Gapps on my Redmi Note 5. I have microG on all my Oreo ROMs based on AOSP and Lineage. The easiest are Havoc and Aosip, these happen to be the two best ones at this time (for me). I have packed the Google Sync adapters and all microG modules in two zip files that I can flash from TWRP. That way the somewhat tedious installation of microG is vastly simplyfied when changing ROM. Nanodroid in the thread includes items I don't want.

well lets say its a lite version of google play services.. means more battery and also i can feel more responsive and snappier once you remove it. the only thing i log in is my google account for playstore.. microg replaces playservices.. that has like 300 services and and maybe 20 are on. while microg has like 7 or so.. on and less then 20 services..
i just want longer battery and more performance.. with microG that guy said on link that he added the signature to miui 10. i have not tried it yet.. easy way is magisk module or in nougat roms that are deodexed... oreo is odexed so cant patch it.. they are working on a patch that woks on oreo.. also 9.0 pie has problems i assumed rom is deodexed.
Gapps is a major contributor to battery consumption, most of the services are calling home functions that ensure Google gets also the last bit of where you go and what you do. Google Play services ensures this still happening in particular when there are non-Google apps running. Over the years it has been developed from an acceptable application framework to ensure location, notification and app service functions to a heavy prying tool. It is important for Google, which that is why it's force updated.
Google is making app developers disabling apps functioning, if no Google apps are installed, even though the app would work perfectly fine without.
That is where microG comes in. It is a not always a 100% replacement, some apps such as Google maps work only partially with microG, though there are alternatives for almost everything. https://shadow53.com/android/no-gapps/setup-guide/microg/
Tried to flash Xposed today only via Magisk 17.1v
Ended up in bootloop for MIUI 10 Developer ROM.
P.S.- Reflash the same zip via Recovery to uninstall and get out of boot loop
Some are claiming Xposed v90-beta3 is working with MIUI 10 but i've tried and it just results in a bootloop or booting to TWRP.
Has anyone on here had any success with xposed and MIUI 10?
Doesn't work, I tried and it too ended up in bootloop.

I was reading through a lot of that thread and it looks like it's still based for pie and there was a section in there saying that you have to change your build prop setting to SDK level 28 if you are on oxygen 10 and Android 10 you'll be SDK 29 so I was getting force closes and I took a big risk when do the build prop edited my SDK level 228 and went straight into a bootloop. So I had to actually do a factory reset. I then restore from twrp, but I screwed up and restored everything what I should have just done a system and data restore only because then I did a soft brick and had to use the MSM tool and start all over again at Android 9! Lol.. so I know guitardedhero was making special media files for audio library they were . so extensions... I'm going to keep digging because on Android 10 I've got ice sound working which is an Asus driver and I can even change the four configurations as well as the 11 different sound profiles fall through terminal emulator. I also have a flashable DTS 2.0

Yeah that what im concerned about to change the builprop SDK to 28 instead of that i change a code on the zip so it bypass the SDK check to able it flash on SDK 29....it was a test but apparently i didn't has any problem about a Bluetooth or anything! And there is couple people successful flash it as well but imma caught up with lastest zip and lemme see if i could mod it to work on OOS 10!and yep by default it only support Android pie only! So imma try troubleshooting as much as possible before releasing it!
Updated to latest Dolby Atmos 0.727 zip and it attached on the first page... I'll leave 0.64 zip there just in case anyone need it! And once 727 zip it work without any problem on 10.3.0 for me at least (testing on AAC,LDAC even aptx HD) but let me know

I would like to personally apologise to you for posting information that caused much frustration and inconvenience for you.
That was irresponsible of me to state workarounds to circumvent a restriction I implemented without knowing the risks that could be involved and not just taking out the restriction myself.
Thank you for sharing your experience. If I had not seen it just now, I would have still assumed such an action you took to be harmless.
I did remove this restriction many versions ago after learning that many were having success on Android 10 and the latest zip a couple hours ago seems to provide a much higher success rating and the support for existing audio mods and their effects seems to now be in place if you ever get an itch to try again without needing to do any hacky, ill-advised stuff like what I said last week.

My Bluetooth stops working after flashing. Reflash of OOS was necessary to get it back.
