Whats not the like....very feature rich and smooth....
But if your really want to change Rom, the advance way is to look in development section....many to choose from RR , CM, Mokee. All MM rom, some even got Nougat.
But if you want an easy way. Just download a launcher.
i am waiting on a bootloader unlock request via sms then i will flash CM14.

First I want to say that MIUI is too basic and I dont consider it a real rom.. thats my personal opinion.
Now there are 2 problems with your answer though I do appreciate it. First, the roms you suggest have issues, especially the camera and video recording. Second a launcher wont remove 2 I hate in MIUI which are the notification bar and task switcher.
But, I read that the task switcher in CM 14.1 is like the one in the stock rom so I may install CM. And the notification bar in MIUI is the worst I've seen. I cant believe it exists when the one in the stock rom is llight years ahead in looks and functionality.
Is it possible to replace the notification in MIUI with the one found in the stock rom? If not, can an Xposed app can do the trick?

I have used aosp and cm all my life... I personally used sony stock launcher and samsung ones also....light year behind..? I don't believe so...it just different not useless. Miui also got something other launcher dont have like second space and dual apps...like others l, need to installed separately. Rr and cm for mm is stable..if you keep up to date with the current development, youll know. Only for naugat probably some issues...if rooted your device and unlock, miui got xmiui apps for xposed to setting up miui launcher. But if you do hate miui, then RR rom is the best for now.

Hi, in my opinion there`s no any rom more appropriate that the stock, let`s clarify that rom stock for Xiaomi is Miui developed to bring all the functionality to device, actual version of miui is so complete, previous v5, 6 they lacked many functions. maybe you must explore the themes from miui to change fonts, icons, notification bar, colors and others, really nice themes (first explore, if you didn`t), besides miui launcher you can replace for any other (Nova. BB Launcher, HTC Launcher) and you must uninstall just deleting with a file explorer or with a remover app after rooting. Anyway you have others roms (custom); for me the best in MM is Mokee and for Nougat is the last build from RR. Preferences may vary.

There is a theme called Android N in MIUI theme store to change the appearance of notification shade, status bar, quick serious toggle and recents apps. BTW Resurrection Remix by Ajsmsj78 is highly recommended. The camera and video recording is working perfectly. I use open camera.

Easy, why do you buy a xiaomi phone?
Buy a nexus or whatever phone with stock rom and you will not have problems in that sense.

It's as close to stock as you can come on any phone other than Nexus/Pixel phones.
A different launcher helps. Problem is few Roms other than MIUI work on helium. Only major problem is lack of NTFS and exfat support. Might be better if bootloader is unlocked and Xiaomi.eu MIUI version installed. Over all the phone is good. Better and larger screen than my Nexus 6. Other big problem is no to poor printer support when trying to print from the phone.
So I bought this device in order to switch ROMs like I did with my OPO, and then I discovered I won't get the high quality camera if I switch ROMs.
Problem is I get bored without flashing anything...
So I thought about flashing some OOS based nougat ROM but then I'll lose Xposed.
What did you do?
Did you stay on stock mm like I did?
Would love to hear suggestion and your opinion, maybe I'm missing something

I made the switch to nougat from having xposed framework , i had all the best mods and i thought I'd regret it moving to nougat but it's honestly not that bad for a start if you still want to block YouTube ads then you can install a patched version of adfree YouTube for nougat and for the visual UI mods there's substratum which is very decent there's also adaway for adfree browsing which again still works perfect on nougat and the doze mode has been improved alot but as always the choice is yours but I'm glad i switched and besides the Dev of the xposed is working on nougat in his spare time so we will get it eventually , i hope this helps your decision ...

Thanks! this is exactly why I asked this question, didn't know there are patched versions for nougat.
You convinced me to at least give it a try.
Your favorite OOS based ROM? Stock?
There's actually an adblocked and background playback-enabled YouTube app now. You can find it here. Alternatively, you could always give dual booting a try.
Xposed will come next year, forget about xposed on sdk25 this year.
Still on stock mm
Can't live without xposed
Cheers

Will report back, thanks everyone
Hello everyone,
It has been a while since I toyed with my Zuk Z2 and I totally missed the Oreo train.
I would like to update my custom ROM with the newest Resurrection Remix OS but some things are still quite unclear.
I saw a lot of talk around updating the baseband version to enable offline charging. And some users also recommend to flash a stock ZUI Oreo ROM before flashing any custom Oreo.
My question is : can I update only my baseband using (fastboot or TWRP) and then directly flash RR 6.0 using the standard full wipe ?
Does that make sense or do I have to take the extra step with the stock ROM ? If so : which version should I install ? 1.9 and then let the OTA do their job ? Will it lock my bootloader again ?
Finally, what step should I take to make this upgrade as easy as possible ?
I am sorry if those questions have been asked lots of time before but I can't figure a clear answer about all of this,
Cheers,

Since you are currently on AEX 4.6, I believe that the offline charging is not working. Even I am on 4.6 and I have tried few Oreo ROMs. I think if you are on 1.76 or 1.70 baseband, you are good to go, flash RR.
Question is do you really want offline charging to work? Personally I'm not going to go through all this hassle for just making the offline charging work. I have been using AEX 4.6 without offline charging for a long time and I don't care if my future ROM has it or not.
Yeah, you can flash baseband using fastboot or TWRP

Thank you for clearing my doubts.
I flashed RR, went smoothly, everything seems to work as planned except for the camera : I do not have the HDR option, and I think a lot of options are missing. Do you have any ideas about that?
As you said offline charging is still not working, and I do not really care neither.
EDIT: Alright, I installed "Arnova's Pixel2Mod v6" and I now have a working camera. Do not mind my question. I also noticed that you posted the link (on another thread) where I found the Camera mod, so thanks again for your help!

Using GCam? HDR option should be working, try the recommended one's from here: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
Slow motion is not working. If you have dark video issue, use OnePlus 5T Cam.
Thanks again for that link, seems like I edited my last post while you answered !
Here is a little feedback after ten days of usage :
My camera started acting up : usually when going through the camera's gallery the application will crash. I will try another Gcam.
I also noticed that my calls are not working. I can dial someone but when they pick up the call we cannot hear each-other. Does anyone have experienced this kind of situation ?
Everything else is working smoothly, better than under AEX 4.6, sadly with those two main problems I may have to try something else.

Hey guys, I wanted to ask some questions...
1. Should I go for android P? What are the main features that would make me switch to it?
2. Should I go for LineageOS or OxygenOS? Again, what are the differences? Which one is better for battery? How strict is OOS for Xposed?
3. I saw some not-official Xposed's, are they working?

What do you mean how 'strict' is OOS for Xposed?
I haven't really needed to use Xposed for awhile. It was just so I could use YT with no ads/background playback. Now I use YT vanced. A lot of other features previously only available with Xposed are now either built-in or available as a Magisk module.
Also I'm not even sure if Xposed framework has been released for Pie...
As far as which rom to use, if you get replies here theyll be mostly split. Some swear OOS is better, some like the extra features you can get from AOSP or other custom ROMs.
Ive been using AOSP Derpfest for awhile now. It's fast, stable, decent battery and has enough extras built-in. Haven't used Lineage since it was CynanogenMod so I can't comment on that.
Forcus on stable, you should use OOS Pie
If you need extra feature, I such guest use AOSP. I personal is DU fan alongtime.
But you can try Code Name Phoenix or Omni Treskmod
OOS pie if you want a daily driver. While there are a number of decent custom roms out for pie (several of which are generally considered superior to LOS), they all have their own quirks and issues. Either way, if xposed is a must, you can use magisk to install edxposed, an unofficial pie port of xposed which remains controversial.
Use like oos or aosip. Both very stable.
Stock Oreo.
OOS Pie 9.0.4 introduces a lot more lag and scrolling jitter than OOS Oreo.
If you don't mind that, use Pie.
Can't comment on custom ROMs, but you're risking stability, camera performance and reliability if you use custom ROMs.
I can second omni treskmod it is totally smooth unlike stock pie rom and the battery is good too.

No lag here, Pie runs perfect.
I can say MSM xtended and Blissrom are very very stable. Everything works. Battery is very good and performance is top. Of course OOS should be even stabler but I personally prefer some custom rom features.
Installing the magisk module for viper always gives me a bootloop
So what's the best way to get viper on android 10 roms?
I'm on havoc os
Worked fine on Pie roms for me

Ask the mod dev to port viper mod to 10.
Meanwhile look at the cross-dev forum, in a rom's thread (search yourself, I don't remember exactly which rom's thread) a workaround relating post-fs scripts is mentioned.
My memory is better then expected: https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...m-havoc-os-t3782811/post80772751#post80772751
