Oneplus 7T goes automatically to vibrate mode - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

Hi,
my oneplus 7t phone keeps getting automatically to vibrate mode. I am then unable to set volume up for incoming call alarms from buttons or the UI settings.
Only thing that helps is the slider. Although it is already at the bottom it is still showing vibrate enabled. If I push it all up and then back down it releases the stuck.
But... What could be causing this muting to occur in the first place. It usually RANDOMLY occurs when I close the phone wallet or raise the phone for use...
Thanks for any help! (Oxygen 10.0.8)

It is possible to put your mobile in Vibrate if you press Volume Up and power key at same time. It may be the reason.
Or else it will be a bug if so check for system updates and update it. It will be resolved...:good:

Thanks for the answer. That up+power shortcut does not do anything. Down+power creates screenshot.
I have checked and there are no system updates available for Oxygen - it says system is up-to-date.
I had oneplus 5t previously and it did not have this issue. Actually I did not have any issues with it. It also had volume slider. Now with 7t I am disappointed.
Any more ideas to solve auto muting issue?
(When writing this response the Chrome jammed for a while. Scrolling is not working when freezed. That also happens randomly in big websites.)

This combo worked for me and it did force it into vibrate mode.

Still getting that annoying mute automatically. Any fix for this?

Where is the silent mode???

Hi
on HTC devices I was able to use the volume rocker to set the device to vibration and by pressing the volume down button again to mute my device completely.
This is not possible any more in ICS? I can only set the device to vibration. What about muting?
The thing I am wondering about is, that I can use the HTC widget to do that and sometimes my profile manager (setting profiles) also is able to enter silent mode. So sometimes I can see the crossed note icon in notification bar, but most often I only see the vibration icon.
What is that supposed to be?
Frank
The device goes from 7,6,5,4,3,2,1,SILENT,VIBRATE

If you hold volume down until it goes to vibrate mode, just press it up once and you will then have silent mode
No idea. But for me it works like a charm. volume rocker first all the way down - vibrate mode and once more and its silent mode (or vice versa, cant remember exactly). Same with the widget. Press it once, silent, two times, vibrate.
Not working for me... 3, 2, 1, vibrate. Volume down no more reaction. Volume up again, volume setting to 1.
But good to know that this should work. So maybe something is messing with the settings in background.
im not sure as i dont own the one x yet, but maybe it is like on the gnex with stock ICS that u need to go to the settings first and check the option: silent mode!
This is really weired.
Using the volume rocker to show the volume slider and then pressing the icon in front of the slider switches between the 3 modes as expected.
Using the volume rocker now, after playing with the settings, sometimes switches to silent mode but most of the time still only vibrant.
Sometimes I see a short silent mode icon in notification (just for the part of a second).
I have the HTC widget on home screen showing the mode. This often shows a different mode as the icon in the not.area.
So whats's wrong with my device???
I even uninstalled my profile manager for testing. No change...
Using the rocker it will go from loud to quiet then vibrate, now just press up on the rocker and it will go from vibrate to silent.
use the rocker then slide the thing down = sound off.
I attached 2 screenshots showing the illogical settings I get using the volume slider...
First image:
You can see the mute icon in not-area and the zero volume value in slider but the HTC widget shows vibrate
Second image:
Still muted but showing vibration profile here too
Why am I the only one having that problem???
OK, solved it. Resetted to factory default and restored step by step. Seems that the setting data storage was damaged. Skipped this on restore and everything is fine now!!!
I use the widget because I cannot get it to go into silent mode using the volume rockers (but then neither could my Xperia Arc on the stock ROM, so I guess that's normal)

This also solved my issue.

mute using volume buttons

Hey,
In most phones with ICS and above, when clicking the volume down button few times the sound is muted, but vibration is still on. Then, when you click one more time, the phone gets fully muted, with the vibration disabled.
For some reason, (my) note 2 doesnt behave that way.
I cannot disable the vibrations using just the volume keys, so I have to do this in the status bar menu, or in the power off menu.
Any ideas?
Hey,
Same problem here.. But with - G2.. Since i flashed JB Leak
Any ideas?

Its a Samsung "feature". I guess some talented dev could change this.
It's funny that it enables vibration this way, cause i have disabled it in settings ^^ Samsung must have some morons working there ^^ would be nice to get this fixed so i could mute my phone without touching screen..

[Q] Catch 22 - Desire got Wet not have 3 issues!

Hi guys.
So i managed to get my desire wet/damp and whilst it still works it has developed 3 issues:
1) The weirdest of all - the phone wont go into standby, as soon as you press the power button or let it timeout the screen goes off and they instantly turns back on to the lock screen. If i leave it, it will timeout again on lockscreen and come back on, it does this forever. I have done factory resets etc, all the same. Weird right
2) Volume keys do not work - think means i had issues getting into recovery. Finally found a widget to do it and then....
3) Trackpad does not work in recovery so i cannot re-flash or try any new rom to see if that fixed (1)
Proper catch 22
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

UPDATE
OK I HAVE AN UPDATE:
The plot thickens but i have managed to S-OFF my Desire and eventually install Clockworkmod Touch which obviously doesn't require me to use the trackpad button so I was able to use Recovery. I wiped the phone and tried reflashing the ROM i had been using (Insertcoin) but this made no difference, the phone still keeps waking up immediately that it goes to sleep (either with power button or by sleeping timeout).
So i decided to install a completely different ROM (CM10_VJ_4.1.2_v3.0) and this installed fine. Now the phone will go to sleep and stay asleep if I press the power button. Problem solved I thought!
Now when the phone is asleep 50% of the time, trying to wake it with the power button will cause it to reset immediately and goto the white HTC screen. When it restarted it sits on the unlock screen and keeps timing out, screen goes off, then immediately on again - weird. If i unlock and lock with power button it will behave. For some reason the Search key will wake the phone every time no issues. Only the power key to unlock causes it to reset. Phone is sleeping according to Battery info.
Any other suggestions for what I could try. Could this possibly be something hardware related now? If there a way i can log the key presses or reason it wakes/resets?
Any help really appreciated, the phone is pretty unusable with this reset issue now.
THanks

May be a hardware issue. But try installing a lighter ROM like dGB or MildWild and see if the issue persists.

Thanks mate. So i tried this and installed CM7 today and have discovered something. As i said above the volume down button doesn't work and the volume up only works with some persuasion. Once i installed CM7 the problem where I lock phone with power key and it instantly wakes up now persists (on the JB rom it at least stayed asleep but reset if power button was pressed again).
However whe i changed the display timeout to 15seconds i watched as it timed out and instantly woke then noticed the volume would increment down one notch each it woke up again. This leads me to think that rather then the volume down not working at all it is actually stuck down permanently and could be causing the issue here. Is there any way I can find out if this is the case and disable the volume keys through software or do i need to open up the phone and disconnect it?
Thanks for any help - i think we are getting there!

Flash a ROM which can be unlocked via trackpad and volume can be adjusted from the phone settings without touching volume keys and the power button on the top.
I recommend MildWild5.8 based on CM7. When I was on it, I totally forgot about volume and power keys because all the phone operations can be done without them.
Thanks thats a great suggestion. I actually worked out that the trackpad is being pressed down constantly too because on CM7 when i disable trackpad to wake the phone actually stays asleep.
Is there any way to disable both volume and trackpad buttons at the kernal/system level?

Volume stuck in mute

Hey guys really need your help. I've noticed that my volume is getting stuck in like a mute mode. It doesn't ring at all and the volume controls do not work. I primarily notice this especially after I have connected a bluetooth device to my phone. I tried doing a search and couldn't find any info on this. I did find the issue pertaining to older phones but their recommended "closing all apps" didn't fix the problem. The only way I can get my volume to function again is to power cycle my phone. Downside, is unless I'm constantly monitoring my phone, I don't always notice that it has happened and have missed several calls as a result.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
if you press the volume up or down and then press the speaker icon (that appears on top left) one or two times and then you can increase the volume and decrease as normal, it will solve the problem, i dont know how i got stuck with mute but this solved my problem at least

Black screen with time and weirdly large notification list.

My girlfriend was trying to turn my alarm off and somehow it got stuck on a screen I had never seen before, all black with white time at the top and a list of the notifications that was oversized, I could scroll through them but not interact with them or turn off the alarm and I could not reset the device by just holding the power button it would turn the flashlight on. I'm running lineage OS the latest build for the 10.
I eventually got it restarted after the alarm stopped by holding every button
Does anyone know what that was?
Extreme power saving mode ?
I am facing same problem. When I first switch to 14.1 Lineage OS ; It was doing it when a new OS update was available , to recover , I had to reboot using power off and volume down, back and home button would flash 15 times , phone would reboot, and all would work correctly. Right after reboot I would see the update suggestion LOS. Clear all and phone would behave ok until same pattern happen. I finally decided to update to latest nightly. Which was at the time 14.1-20170706-NIGHTLY-pme changed the update setting to manual. It still does the same random black screen , showing bold white clock , bold white weather banner , I can see text message notification but no swipe works in anyway shape or form. Simply need to reboot with Power and volume down. Seen details about similar problem on reddit about nexus4 doing similar behavior.
No , because there is no way out other than holding power and volume down to recover the phone. Sometimes it goes to normal restart , sometimes it goes to bootloader.
Have you just tried flashing a different ROM?
