So far I have disabled Battery optimisation, clear cache and so on according to google search. Sometimes it has mail notifications but it no longer shows up. If you have solutions for Nokia 6.1, please share. Thanks

Has anyone else had sync issues with just gmail? Facebook, contacts, etc all work fine but email will not sync. I can read new emails and archive, delete, and mark emails as read/unread. But after awhile my unread count goes to 65 (what gmail actually has) when the number should be 10. And I can't send emails.
I tried the fix in post two, but that causes launcher pro to continually force close. I also searched and found a post with 8 or 10 steps. I followed that and it worked for a little bit, but was immediately back to normal. So it might not of even worked.
Both issues are really annoying and if someone could help I would be very appreciative!

Bump.
Anyone? No? So I'm alone here
Did you go into your: settings, accounts and sync, and make sure that background data and auto sync are checked? or the google apps is syncing as well? I had this problem on my Q9c and I had to go back and resync...
Thanks for the reply. The fix seems to be to go into Manage Applications and clear cache for gmail.
hmmm interesting. So, im guessing your up and running again?

Hi,
I've got an issue, not a massive one but it bugs me nonetheless.
Currently, when I tap the Phone button from the home screen it brings up a list which shows my recent call list, if I scroll down I get a long list of all my contacts. The thing I find annoying is that the long list includes all of my Facebook "friends" that have a telephone number listed.
What I would like is for this list to only contain my contacts (copied over from my SIM), and for the ones that are linked to a Facebook account, to have their status etc updated. I do not want my random Facebook "friends" to be in the list.
The most recent thing I've done to try and solve this issue is to go into the Facebook app on the phone and change the 'Sync Contacts' settings (Menu-> Settings) to 'Don't sync'. I then went into (phone) Settings-> Applications-> Manage Applications-> All (tab)-> Contacts storage-> Clear Data. I then copied my contacts back over from the SIM. (I've also tried the 'Sync with existing contacts' option as well)
All was well for a while, my contacts linked up again and I got facebook details for my contacts when calling them. However I noticed to my annoyance that my Phone list now contains my facebook contacts again!
I notice under Settings->Accounts and Sync I have two (removable) Facebook accounts, one is Facebook, the other is Facebook for HTC Sense. Does anyone know if it would help to remove either of these accounts?
Can anyone help me find a way to solve this issue (preferably without extra software or going through the People menu)?
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Grim.
I just fixed this myself.
I think it's something to do with how HTC Facebook interacts with official Facebook. If I turned of syncing on both (but left contact sync disabled in both) I'd still get contacts in Phone (and also in suggestions in sms app). If I removed both, then added Facebook official only I'd still get them.
In the end, opening up Facebook on my PC and going into privacy then apps and disabling Facebook for HTC Sense seemed to solve it to me. I could then use the official Facebook app without getting all these contacts I'd never use.
I didn't care about getting contact pictures and stuff so I never tried letting official Facebook sync with existing contacts only, but it might work properly.
Hope this helps, completely unscientific but it seemed to for me!

Hi JBrizz thanks for your reply.
I didn't think of logging into the facebook website to disable anything. I'll give that a try.
In the meantime I've fiddled about with the accounts in 'Accounts and Sync'. I've tried deleting both the Facebook and Facebook for HTC Sense accounts.
After deleting both I went into the Facebook app and signed in, which recreates the account in Accounts and Sync. I set the sync options in the app to not sync any contacts. I waited around for a while and no extra contacts (from Facebook) appeared in my Phone list.
I then went into the Facebook app and changed the sync settings to 'sync with existing contacts' - which I assumed should only sync the data for the people currently in my phone book? Anyway after a few minutes I checked an all of my Facebook friends were now in my Phone list AGAIN
I started from fresh again and tried a similar thing with the other Facebook for HTC Sense account - I had to recreate this in the Accounts and Sync settings screen.
Again after a few minutes all my Facebook friends where there on my Phone list
Maybe this functionality isn't available with this phone / app?
Anyone else have any ideas?
It is a google problem, not a HTC problem.
The HTC app is doing what it should be doing. If you go to the people app, click on your contact (far left) and then menu -> view you can see the facebook option is unchecked.
However the Phone dialer (google product) just syncs everything.
There is a issue no for this, 10618 @

Best thing to do is you guys reply and make this defect more and more noticeable.
I've posted on the google issue site, cheers for the link!
Hey guys,
Is anyone else experiencing Facebook status updates not automatically updating within the People app?
I'm displaying my Google Contacts but have linked the contacts with their FB profile within the app. It shows a status update they've made but doesnt update anymore to their latest status.
This seems to have only cropped up since I did a factory reset on the HOX.
I've gone through Accounts & Sync & manually sync'd but no change.
Trivial issue I know, but just wanted to know if anyone else experiencing the same?

Yes. I have the same setup as you it seems. Just done a hard reset due to other reasons and tried from the stock FB app and then via the latest FB app with no luck - some feeds/updates are not updating,
I'm experiencing a lot of frustration with FB and syncing. The sync works ok after some manual linking and I receive updated photo's for most of my contacts however, what I don't like is, if you have any of the two sync options selected when you create the FB sync account ('sync all' or sync with existing contacts') then ALL your facebook contacts appear in your phone list/dialler and messages drop down, regardless if you have FB shown as an active/viewable account under 'People' or not. The only way to get rid of this it seems is to delete the FB app or use a Android dialler (which has the ability to filter which accounts/contacts you can see) instead of the HTC dialler.
To me this isetup is frustrating and I cannot seem to find a simple workaround. Someone did mention on another forum to uninstall the FB app, clear the app data/cache then reinstall the app selecting 'don't sync' and then use a third party app to get the photos, such as SyncMyPix however this obviously won't sync the updates/feeds that some people like.
For the time being I am not going to be syncing FB contacts until I find a workaround.
You can buy HaxSync off the play store if you want to sync your Facebook account with your contacts

Appreciate you can get alternative 3rd party apps however this shouldn't be required. The Facebook/Google integration needs to be a lot sleeker so there isn't a need to download and use additional apps...
It used to be a lot sleeker but I think google & facebook had an argument over data rights and google just stopped syncing data with facebook.
Strange, I am not getting GMail notifications since I have my Pixel 2XL
Messages stops working after few minutes after the screen is off
1. I have tried to reinstall GMail + clean cache/data
2. tried to use Inbox app but same results
3. Other email apps (Edisson Email) works fine with push notifications
4. All other apps using push notifications works like a charm
any sugestions?
Please check whether sync option is enabled.
users & accounts > Automatically sync data > Enable
Checked, done - other Google items like contacts calendars etc are syncing properly
I've had this issue with Gmail for at least 8 years on every phone I've owned. It works when it wants to, that's about all I've learned in that time.
Interesting thing now that I'm using Tesla Unread: Whenever Gmail is not doing it's thing, I will see a badge for unread messages even though there is no notification. Open Gmail, and it shows unread messages in the inbox menu (but not in the box itself). A minute or so after opening the app, it will download the message and give a notification.
I no longer rely on Gmail, because of this. It's been going on for years and many people have had the same issue.
Hi there,
I'm a Galaxy S10+ user and I recently brought S20+
I realized that my Gmail Sync doesn't seem to be working in real-time (I sometimes get notifications after like 30 minutes and I'm not on battery saver mode)
I tried to remove Gmail and re-add it again.
Did you face something similar? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sorry, but no issues on this side

I have Microsoft Outlook installed for my work email and run gmail through outlook and no issues...
yes gmail is not sending notifications properly esp if the email is not seen as primary and is going into an auxiliar inbox - there's no fix either so you just have to either use a different app or manually check every now and again!
Same problem here. I excluded GMail from the battery optimization and sleepers list, hopefully it helps.
same here
Also can confirm that gmail is so late in notifiyng
My s8+ and this 20+ both had issues with Gmail notifications. I have multiple Gmail accounts and found that the only way I could get half way reliable notifications from Gmail was to only use it for 1 Gmail account and use a separate app for all my other Gmail accounts. Since we use GApps at my work, my work account was used exclusively for Gmail app. I now also use the Samsung feature to force the Gmail app to stay open in memory. With it always open in memory and on never sleep list, it does pretty well.
I'm also having this problem. I was getting notifications before, but haven't in a few days. Almost seems like it stopped working when I got the ATD1 update, but that could be a coincidence. If I open Gmail, it shows new messages, I'm just not getting notification for them. I've tried turning off battery optimizations for Gmail (though I did get them before with it turned on), and I've tried clearing out Gmail's cache.
EDIT: I've gone back and deleted the cache again, but this time I also deleted the data, the disabled/re-enabled the app (I tried this before, but not deleting data). After all that I had to set up Gmail again, and did a test and got a notification. We'll see if it stays fixed.
