Dear all,
I have my Z1C on the latest FW with Dual Recovery and root (SuperSU) but locked bootloader. Now, some apps will not run when they detect root. Can I "unroot" the phone in a convenient way and "re-root" when needed? Without using King Root and while keeping all my data etc.?
Cheers,
Ben
If you are willing to use Xposed, you can use a module called "RootCloak" which is used for hidding root from such apps which don't work unless your phone is not rooted.

Thanks. So Xposed works with Dual Recovery/locked bootloader?
I was hoping I could just uninstall SuperSU and re-flash it in TWRP to re-gain root.

I think it works with Dual Recovery, I'm not entirely sure though, same for Lock/Unlock BL but it should not impact how it works.
Also there is an option in several app for Root to disable it (Completely but you can re-enable it very easily)

There is in the version of SuperSU I am using, but it doesn't seem to work for the banking app I tried. Root cloak reportedly works for it, but I was unsure if Xposed would work with my config and did not want to risk a boot loop or similar.

It should work independently of your recovery so no worries. You can still download the zip to uninstall in case of something gone wrong or do a Nandroid backup to be sure

I guess I'll try this WE.
I tried it. In SuperSU settings I chose permanent unroot, rebooted, and voilĂ : The banking app worked. Then I flashed the latest SuperSU in TWRP, and root was back. Neat!
I'd like to enable camera2 api, but I need to keep Android Pay working. I thought of installing TWRP and flashing modified build.prop through it without rooting, but I'm not sure if unlocking bootloader won't be enough to trip safety net. Anyone tried this?
Your best move would be to unlock the bootloader (this can fail safetynet), then install magisk for root which you can then use to pass safetynet as it will hide root etc.
Then using root from magisk you will be able to use a root explorer to enable hal3 or alternatively you may use a magisk module to enable it.
I'm using a custom ROM and magisk and am able to use android pay
Does anyone know if you lose the play store and Twitter with magisk 17.2? I know it doesn't hide root.

I'm not sure about Twitter because I don't use it. I have magisk 17.2 installed and play store is working fine. Magisk 17.2 will also hide root. I'm not sure about an unlocked bootloader though but there are several Kernels out there that will do that. My setup is Magisk and Flash Kernel with everything else stock. Magisk hides root from Android auto, Directv Now, Android Pay, my banking app and the play store also shows my device as certified.
Both playstore and twitter work for me on Oreo 8.1 and magisk 17.2
Does anyone know if Pokemon go can detect root with magisk? I've updated it and it still won't allow me to log in even though magisk hide is on and Xposed module was disabled

IIRC. Use Magisk hide + hide Magisk manager and delete the Magisk manager folder should work, If not I'm sure their is a thread dedicated to this. in the Magisk section
What's magisk hide +? Thanks for the suggestion man I'll try that
I have installed Magisk and this game always disconnect when jump out of the bus because Root. Is there any app to temporarily disable Root?
EDIT:
It's working now. Unroot in TWRP Recovery. When i need Root i just flash Magisk.

You can use hide magisk manager option. You can google how to use it.
