Android Auto on Phone vs Smartlock - Google Pixel XL Questions & Answers

Hi All,
SO, I like to use Android Auto directly on my phone as my car stereo doesn't support it. I've set Android Auto to start automatically when connected to the car's bluetooth. Smartlock is also set to unlock the device when it detects the car's bluetooth.
IT DOESN'T WORK. My screen still stays locked when Android Auto starts, and I have to manually unlock it just so I can see it.
I figure I'm either missing a setting or the software is working as designed (ie...buggy).
Thanks in advance.

bluetooth problems

i updated my touch to 6.1 now it wont find my motorola S9 headset what do i do
my s9 works fine on my touch and titan wm 6.1....make sure when u first power on your s9 the blue light stays solid...this means its in pairing mode, then open up connections manager, click settings, bluetooth, find new device and it should find it in a few seconds
It should work just fine, upgrading to WM6.1 doesn't change the way your bluetooth functions.
i've had trouble pairing my bluetooth as well. instead of going to bluetooth explorer, go to settings > connections > bluetooth > add new device (even if its in the list still click this). after it finds the headset go through all the settings then when your done tap and hold where it says S9 (or whatever your headset is called) then choose set as wireless stereo, then it will say your device wants to connect. if it says the passcode is invalid try again and it should work. while this way of pairing my headset can take around 5 min. or more, its the only way it seems to be working.
i am not sure if your phone is showing the same symptoms as mine or not, but if this is a common problem then i hope someone smarter than me can fix it, becaue the way i have to set it up is a real pain.

Phone locks after call vie bluetooth

Hello,
I have SE XPERIA ARC, with Android 2.3.4
Whenever I'm in the car connected to bluetooth, I disable screen auto-lock and screem timeout (with Tasker or Llama). The problem is that when I end a cal via bluetooth (actually, when the other party ends it), the phone locks up and I need to open it to continue use GPS or whatever is running there.
Anything can be done about it?
Thank you in advance.
I have the same issue, I am using Samsung galaxy S android 2.3.5 with route 66 gps app...it drives me crazy and is a serious safety issue while driving

simple way of disabling bluetooth auto connect to certain devices?

I have one bt speaker this phone seems to auto connect with. I would like to pair with it, but manually when needed.
So far I have had to set up macrodroid with autotools to make it happen..so after the device is disconnected autotools disables the media and phone profile. Then I can manually connect each time.
There really should be an option in android to do this

Click to collapse
You can set up a NFC Tag to turn on Bluetooth when you need it and turn it off manually when you want to but other than that I don't know.
yes, thats another option.
Looks like ill have to keep using my settings I used on my previous phone. Enable\disable bt with screen on, and enable bt when wireless charging is connected in the car holder.

Bluetooth can't auto connect with car audio

I'm on miui 13 and I have annoying issues, the device's bluetooth which unable to auto connect with car's head unit. The only way out is to unpair then pair them again. That being said, if bluetooth turned off, it can auto connect as long as car's engine still on. That did not happen to miui 12.5 which rapidly auto-connect. Anybody has any idea how to fix this?
BMW NBT?
I also have this problem. With iphone works properly.
I managed to get it fixed by putting the car audio in bluetooth connection mode, go to bluetooth app then toggle allow fullscreen app. In connect state it will disconnect then reconnect. In our case, it'll force connect to nearby previously connected device. That leaves another issue, which is media info won't update. So we kinda stuck with first song info or podcast title, then it won't refresh. Probably due to xiaomi policy to limit data transfer or simply unresolved bug. Luckily I have Samsung device which I use most of the time in this regard.
