Do we have a list of apps that are safe to remove from our note 2's that won't affect day to day functionality? I'm new to the device and it had v about 3 times as many system .apks as my sgsII had lol.

You can remove anything that has, to do with AT&T. Navigator, AT&T hot spot etc.
Not sure if your rooted or not. But if you are, and your going into the phone system deleting stuff. Just make sure not to delete anything that has to do with Google!
Another thing you can do without rooting. Is you can disable any app you choose to. And it will not show up in the app drawer!

I would hope on Sprint phone, there isn't anything with AT&T on it, LOL
I don't think there is a list. As the above eluded to, if you're rooted, which I assume is the case, make a backup of everything with Titanium Backup. So if you delete something you shouldn't have, you can restore without having to do a Nandroid restore; I would confirm your Nandroid backup actually works too. You may not realize till later that you delete something you shouldn't have. I've Google Play bork all of sudden days later when I tried going into it, and after removing several other items.
I haven't had issues with:
Gmail
Goolge Plus
Samsung Media Hub
Kies
Yahoo News
Yahoo Finance
VPN Client (this is waste since Android has it build in)
Voicemail
Trim
Google Talk
Sprint Zone
SNS (has a facebook icon, but don't know what it does)
Samsung Apps
Popup Browser
MyFiles
MusicFX
Music Player
Music Hub
HTML Viewer
Game Hub
Favorite Contacts
Dropbox
Allshare
any and all wallpapers
You can remove Youtube too. You'll just need to use a web browser install to access it.
Some of the apps I removed were because I use a different app to do the same function such as K9 email, Google Music and ES File Explorer. I usually remove Downloads, but keep the download manager. I believe downloads is just a shortcurt to the download directory, which can be accessed easily with the file explorer app.
I'm just usually weary of the TB listing that start with "com.". I think those are more system applications.
Beyond that, it's trial and error.
If you're unsure about something, but want to test it, you can always try freezing it in Titanium Backup as well. It'll still be there, but the will inaccessible for use on the phone till unfrozen.
Mod moved me to the sprint forum from at&t haha. Thanks for the help ive been slowly debloating this phone.

I have an A5 (2017) and I ended up removing a bunch of Samsung and other apps that came with the phone using the adb uninstall command (the disable command kept throwing errors at me for some reason).
I want to know if it's still okay for me to update via official Samsung OTA when the Android Oreo update rolls out to me. Will my phone not having certain stock apps screw up the OTA's install? I still haven't received it. I'm in Canada on build A520WVLS2BRA2 of Nougat.
Thanks.
My understanding is that it will affect the OTA if you uninstalled them system wide. But if you just uninstalled them for user 0, as explained in a post here in XDA, then you should be fine. By the way, which apps did you uninstall? Have you noticed any issues so far? I want to get rid of a bunch of Samsung's crapware, but I don't really want to be restoring to factory defaults.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, everything uninstalled for user 0. I don't think you can uninstall past user 0 via ADB on an unrooted system. I uninstalled stuff like:
Word, Skype, Samsung Connect, S Voice, S Health, Quick connect, Quick access, PowerPoint, Photos, OneDrive, Android Messages, KnoxBBCProvider, Knox Shortcuts, Health Services, Google Movies, Music, the Google app itself, French Language Pack, FB, Excel, Duo, Container Agent2, Briefing, and Amazon
You can uninstall even more, just be careful. I used an S8 debloat guide. No issues so far. Though these apps will probably come back with the OTA.

Thanks for the info. What about apps like Samsung Email, Samsung Calendar, Samsung Browser, Samsung Experience Launcher, Samsung Notes? Do you know if those are safe to uninstall? I basically want to get rid of those Samsung apps that can't be disabled in the A5 (2017).

You should always adb uninstall apps you don't need after a factory reset, and before you start adding your info and files to the phone. That way you can catch any errors early and avoid having to factory reset again.
Anyway, check out S8 debloat guides. The S8 pretty much has the same apps.
I am using Google Calendar and don't want to use the pre-installed LG Calendar app.
It's not possible to uninstall it nor disable it from Android settings.
I tried to stop the app and remove all its permissions but somehow they get automatically restored, making me receive double notifications for the same event, one from the Google app and one from the LG app.
The only way I could think of to avoid this issue is to disable all my calendars in the "Calendars to display" settings of the LG app.
The app is still running (and consuming CPU and battery) but at least I don't get the double notifications anymore.
Does anyone have a better idea on how to completely remove/disable the LG Calendar app?

I'm not sure what version of the G7 you have but the T-Mobile US version uses the Google Calendar as the default.

Verizon variant uses the LG calander. Can't say I'd rather use Google's calander (but then again, I don't use it much either).
Edit: You can't disable it, FYI.

Oh that is weird, don't know why they would make carrier versions have different stock apps.

I can only assume TMobile requested it. You also have Google messages as the stock SMS, right? Verizon version is LG's SMS app.

No, we have LG messages which I prefer because it has advanced messaging built in.

I found an app of the LG calendar to try it out, and I like it better than the Google calendar lol. Good thing we can disable it too.

Hey, I was wondering if it would be possible to replace Samsungs built-in phone app with Google's phone app.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-phone-v14-0-175904292-bubble-t3708218
Also if rooted you can install the Google phone framework to install it from the play store. This will also allow the spam filter to work correctly... Which it doesn't with that link previously posted.
Awesome! I'm sick of how slow the Samsung dialer is....hopefully this is better.

Yeah same, I also replaced the contacts and messages with googles own. I uninstalled samsungs stock phone messages and contacts apps with ADB commands.
Hi Everyone,
I've been searching the site and online for an answer, but no luck.
I have the Galaxy S20+, but this is really a question that pertains to all Galaxy phones. A lot of the Samsung phone's native apps (Camera, Gallery, etc.) will have a "N" icon in Settings, telling you there is a new update for the app that you can install. For this, you have to go through the Galaxy Store. I have disabled access to the store and most other Samsung apps I don't use (Bixby, etc.) because I don't want to sign up for anything Samsung and don't want to create an account with them since I already have my Google account attached to the phone.
Now, going to the Google Play store from the the Camera or Gallery apps, it shows that I have them installed and even allows me to open the app from their store. But unlike other apps that I actually downloaded from Google Play, it won't give me the option to update from Google. It just lets me open the app.
So my question in short is can I, or how can I, update these Samsung apps through the Google Play Store instead of the Galaxy Store? If they show up in the Google Play Store, there must be a way since they are linked.
Side note, I can't uninstall most apps (especially the Camera and Gallery apps) and them re-download them from Google Play, in case anyone was curious.
Any direction or help will be much appreciated. Thanks!
I did an update to the Samsung Members app in the Play Store just the other day after originally installing it via the Galaxy Store (S20U).
I know some of the Samsung apps appear on the Galaxy Store before they reach the Play Store and for apps I've checked I have both Uninstall and Open buttons in both stores. Don't see why it wouldn't be possible for certain apps.

Interesting. I just checked and I don't have the Samsung Members app installed to compare. But like you said as well, it should be possible.
Hopefully someone here knows how?
Just use samsung app store..

You can download new versions of your apps from apkmirror
Where does samsung messages get updated? I don't see it in the play store or galaxy store.

Right now i think it can be updated only from the APKMirror page .... https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&s=Samsung+messages

Short answer: Yes and no.
As you discovered, some Samsung apps are available in the Google Play Store. Those can be updated via the Play Store. The other Samsung apps must be updated via Samsung Galaxy Store or sideloaded (the best source is Samsung apk mirror).
Having a Samsung account doesn't force you to use their apps. I have a Samsung account, but I disabled all of their apps except for Calculator, Galaxy Wearable, Good Lock, My Files, and One Hand Operation+, and having a Samsung account doesn't affect my battery or usage habits whatsoever.

Thanks everyone.
Sublimaze, I think this is the most helpful answer. Thanks. I have a couple of follow-up questions from your response:
- I know a little about sideloading, but I'm not fully versed. But say I download the Samsung Camera and Gallery apps from Apkmirror, how do I install them if my Galaxy S20+ device doesn't let me uninstall Camera and Gallery? In the settings, I can't even disable them (it's greyed out). Maybe these two app examples are exceptions and I can't do anything about it? I will say many (if not all) of the Samsung apps I see on my device do not give me the option to disable or uninstall
- When you sideload an app, how do you receive updates or update the app in the future? Is it a one-and-done situation, or will I be able to do updates on Google Play moving forward? Or, will I be stuck and never be able to do updates, with the only way being is to just keep installing newer versions when they come out on Apkmirror?
- And finally, is Apkmirror reliable?
And thanks for clarifying the bit on the Samsung accounts.

That makes sense. I think what I'm just going to have to do is just tough it out and use the Samsung Store to updates the ones I can only do through there, then revoke permissions to the Samsung Store app after I'm done. Seems like the safest way to go.
Thanks.
