I am using Google Calendar and don't want to use the pre-installed LG Calendar app.
It's not possible to uninstall it nor disable it from Android settings.
I tried to stop the app and remove all its permissions but somehow they get automatically restored, making me receive double notifications for the same event, one from the Google app and one from the LG app.
The only way I could think of to avoid this issue is to disable all my calendars in the "Calendars to display" settings of the LG app.
The app is still running (and consuming CPU and battery) but at least I don't get the double notifications anymore.
Does anyone have a better idea on how to completely remove/disable the LG Calendar app?

I'm not sure what version of the G7 you have but the T-Mobile US version uses the Google Calendar as the default.

Verizon variant uses the LG calander. Can't say I'd rather use Google's calander (but then again, I don't use it much either).
Edit: You can't disable it, FYI.

Oh that is weird, don't know why they would make carrier versions have different stock apps.

I can only assume TMobile requested it. You also have Google messages as the stock SMS, right? Verizon version is LG's SMS app.

No, we have LG messages which I prefer because it has advanced messaging built in.

I found an app of the LG calendar to try it out, and I like it better than the Google calendar lol. Good thing we can disable it too.

I really rely on Facebook contacts sync as it has pretty much all the numbers i need. I know there are apps like Friendcaster and Haxsync but those do not sync the numbers with the profiles. My GNex is running stock 4.1 right now and it is rooted I believe, since i rooted it myself last night (i think i did it right). Is there something that will allow me to Facebook Sync my contacts and still keep the standard OS without noticing anything changed. Or i guess in other words, how can i quickly enable it so that it can sync and then delete whatever i put to enable it to do that so that I am back at square one just this time with all my contacts I would backup and put on my computer. Using a standard GSM Gnex on the latest Jellybean update, I hope I was descriptive as possible. Also I am a noob so please don't go too crazy on me, I've never actually done any of this stuff but i just want my contacts so i can use the stock until im comfortable doing more of this
HaxSync from the play store. Even import birthdates to calendar.

Download Friendcaster from the app store, just run it side by side with the official FB app. I did that for my fiance, even though friendcaster is more robust.
She loves it now though because she can finally get realtime push notifications from facebook

I don't think you guys are understanding what I am saying lol, I understand these apps give you the contacts. This is what I want yes, but what they lack is adding the contacts WITH the phone NUMBERS. I want the the phone numbers. I am trying to get the phone numbers of with the contacts lol am i clear yet :crying:
Exactly. I want numbers too. I have like 5 people synced to my Google account. The rest are on Facebook. Friend caster only syncs them to my "people" app. If I go to the phone app the numbers aren't there. When I open the menu and select "choose contacts to display" I select friend caster and it says 0 contacts. Looking for contacts phone numbers not just names and HD photos...

Custom ROMs usually have Facebook sync working fine, you could also search how to modify a stock google image to allow facebook sync, if I'm not mistaken you'll need root and busybox, you will need to edit a text file and run a script that will update a database in your phone... Unfortunately I don't have this information handy, so, you'll need to search for it if you want to modify stock rom (remember, you need root), or, you can always use custom roms that do not have this limitation.

I've flashed about 2 ROMs now that claimed to allow the facebook sync and they haven't worked lol can anyone direct me to one that actually does work and they know first hand? I'm going to look into that busybox editting text file business now in the meantime.
Lol Hino, what ROMs have that actually working? JB ROMs at least. I've tried just about all of them and I didn't have numbers from Facebook on any one of them.

Do you think you could link me to the ROMs that actually have the Facebook sync working properly, or link me to a thread that walks me through how to use busybox to bypass this stuff. I've honestly tried everything and searched since you posted this and nothing I can find works.
I don't think there is any that works the way you want, sorry. Is a fb issue. If that is a must have for you, maybe you will have to try another phone.... a shame

You tried to export them? There must be a way once you do get the contacts synced to save them into the phone and not just under the synced profile that way you can export them. I tried to export them off my other phone running gingerbread and put them onto my Gnex but it was a no-go the file i extracted had 0 bytes for some reason it just didn't want to export the contacts at all.. Was hoping it was still possible but I suppose its not
This is from Facebook site. Only option I found for you, would be to export them and add them to Gmail.

I guess there is no way to bypass this at all. I checked that out and the extension is deleted and with more research apparently this used to work until facebook updated their coding so it doesn't work anymore.
Anyone know how to use the native messaging app through google voice? I know there is an option within the app but it uses different phone numbers for the incoming so when you respond it will know you its going to.
What I am looking for is something that will full integrate, using my contacts phone numbers when they message me. Also when i start a thread from within the messaging app i want it to go through google voice. I found this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mdrtools.apps.gvintegration&hl=en
But is that the only way to make it happen? Thanks!

If you're rooted, I've found that this app works perfectly for me on the Nexus:

Disclaimer: I've got the paid version. This is the free one and I don't know what the difference is haha.

I just loaded the free one, cant tell the difference between the paid and the free. This app got a lot of bad reviews so i was skeptical... seems to be working ok. How is your battery life with it?
Also I am on an unlimited plan as well, i just want to start giving out my GV number and not my regular number anymore... Time for a change
I haven't had any trouble with battery life. There was an older version of the app that sucked down battery, but since it's been updated I haven't noticed any appreciable decrease.
The free version is apparently a trial version.

Wasn't in the Verizon version I purchased yesterday either, but once I downloaded it the ability to get updates in Blinkfeed was there. Not sure whether that ability existed before I downloaded/installed it because I hadn't tried.

It wasn't in my Verizon M8, either. Question for you...after downloading it, the app works great, the widget updates "live". However, while I see the Fitbit under Blinkfeed's Services and Apps, after checking the box, I get no Fitbit stats in Blinkfeed.
I manually pull down to refresh and there is NO CONTENT.
Any thoughts and/or suggestions?

If you tap on any of the "squares" in the Blinkfeed for Fitbit it will take you directly to the application for your stats. I know that's not actually showing the stats in Blinkfeed, though.

Therein lies the problem. Even though I only have Calendar and Fitbit checked, the only things that show up under both the "Highlights" Blinkfeed and the "Fitbit" Blinkfeed are calendar events.
Ergo, there is nothing to even click on to get over to the Fitbit application...only square(s) for calendar events (which, when clicked, take me to the Calendar app as it's supposed to do)
Hello,
Every once in a while I get the Yelp! sponsored ad on the lock screen. I've tried turning it off from the Settings of the Blinkfeed (as I saw it supposedly worked with previous HTCs) but it doesn't on the 10. Anyone know the answer to my question?
Thanks,
Marius
I've never once had ads on my lockscreen. You must have some bad app that's sending you ads via notifications.

Not sure if you have it but es file explorer will cause ads on the lock screen with its own quick charge screen. Haven't had any since I uninstalled it.
I already turned off 'interest based ads' from Settings>Personalize>Manage Ads. By the way, I use the Google Now Launcher, so the Manage Ads option only shows when I have Sense Home selected as the default launcher. I'm still getting yelp ads in the lock screen.

That app recently had an update that had some lock screen bs included. Had a battery icon on it and all.
There's another app I had a couple months back that did the same thing too. If you have sense apps ads disabled , it's likely an app that turned spammy.

Its definitely not from the stock software. My wife had the same thing happen last week on her note. It took a while but found out it was PIP software for taking selfies. Here is a great article that should help get rid of them. http://www.slashgear.com/android-ads-on-your-lockscreen-and-how-to-destroy-them-05438921/. It lists some common sources for these ads:
• Amber Weather Widget
• ES App Locker
• GO apps (of note: GO Weather, GO SMS, GO Keyboard, Next Browser)
• Kingo Root
• KittyPlay Wallpapers, Ringtones
• TouchPal apps (TouchPal makes multiple keyboard apps)
• Xender (file transfer app)
• Zero Team apps (of note: Z Camera)
The yelp and restaurant ads are because you enabled personalization in sense home. It's tracking your location and usually offering restaurants nearby.

check on blinkfeed settings>manage adds>turn off internet based ads. thought i read somewhere that caused lock screen ads too.
I figured it out, no thanks to Verizon IT. It's a google ad. Go to your chrome browser. Click on the three dots, Settings, Site Settings, Cookies, uncheck "allow third-party cookies" box. BOOM!
I just started getting the exact same kind of ads! Cannot find any information on the Internet about how to eliminate them.
Some flashlight apps throw ads like that, have you got a flashlight app?

Hey, I was wondering if it would be possible to replace Samsungs built-in phone app with Google's phone app.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-phone-v14-0-175904292-bubble-t3708218
Also if rooted you can install the Google phone framework to install it from the play store. This will also allow the spam filter to work correctly... Which it doesn't with that link previously posted.
Awesome! I'm sick of how slow the Samsung dialer is....hopefully this is better.
