Is there anyone who knows a way to bypass the hotspot limit? This has been an issue of mine for months and will do anything for help, thanks.
PDANet+. I've been using it with Sprint for about a year and use about 2TB a month tethering.
Do you know how to set it up? I've been having too much trouble with it

I believe that's the unlocked firmware. No carrier bloatware and limits.

Okay so when I signed up my contract I was on a plan with unlimited Data. I'm never using more then 2 GB, I use the tethering so rarely and yesterday I turned it on because I needed to check something on one website and I got to T-Mobile Page saying that I have to update (wtf?) I already paid for my data, who are they to decide how and where I can use my data? They don't know what the heck they're doing.
I never had any issues like this before, I was tethering just fine and now they suddenly decided that I need to update my plan? Well hell no I'm not going to do it.
So let's pick this thing apart and figure out how to tether without going to their stupid - UPDATE ME page. Mofos what a lame thing they did, I'm so disappointed from T-Mobile right now. (Yea let's do it let's make a couple extra cashhhhhh, it wouldn't hurt rightt??)
I've read that it would work if I delete Tethering Manager or Tethering Provisions with Titanium Backup, I'm on official Stock ICS rooted / I deleted Tethering Provisions only because I don't have Tethering manager in my apps and still nothing - I'm still gething redirected.
I just want to mention that when I deleted Tethering provisions (I restarted the phone, the tethering worked for like 5 minutes and then stopped working again).
So anyone have any ideas how to stop them from screwing around with their clients?
You weren't aware the 2gb plan did not come with tethering? It's told to you when you choose the plan. 5gb and 10gb do, unlimited 4G does not, nor does 2gb.

Tmobile blocks tethering from their end. To tether you'll need to use chrome as tmobile cant tell the difference from the mobile chrome browser.
Ok it doesn't metter I wasn't aware ok? So how do we fix it?

This is the easiest way to make sure it works 100%... You can have tethering working with chrome browser, and most other tablets or phones. Tmobile can't tell the difference. Anything else is hit or miss...
Instead of using the stock tethering option download a separate application for tethering. Although some of them are still blocked I have heard that using the clock work mod tethering app will work. I guess mainly because it uses an app on your phone and a client app on the computer.
But there are several apps out that will get around t Mobile blocking tethering. Just looking up and trying out..
Also if you use AOKP . the built in tethering works fine it might also be the same in cM 10 or even 9. I know this because I use the brand new fully unlimited 4 G Plan and I need full to tether just fine to my laptop without any extra applications.

I use chrome all the time and I get the tmo website. the reason you see the page now is because old tmobile sim cards takes a while for them to realize that you are tethering. as the new sim doesnt. tmobile probably already figured you were tethering.
you can also flash a custom rom and then you can tether that way

I am on Jedi Mind Trick and tethering only works for me on chrome and my ps3 when using netflix or the youtube app... from what i've read tmobile is using user agent strings to block tethering... Meaning if you use IE then they know its a desktop and block it. They dont know the netflix im using is from the ps3... but again, thats what i read. I will try that fox wifi app i read about...

How much does it cost the new unlimited plan, because right now when I get redirected it asks me to add tethering for $14.99, does that mean that I have to pay my $10 bucks for internet + $14.99 for tether?

it doesnt state in the OP that you on the new unlimited plan. But either way, its Tmobiles network and they decide what to do with it. Without paying for tethering you will not be able to tether without issues from time to time. Try an app called foxfi, that might work...

Has anyone found any information on if the T-Mobile version will come with the built-in WiFi calling feature. I know it has been added to the HTC one, wondering if the gs4 would get the same feature.

Yeah but know they skipped it with the nexus 4 so I didn't want to assume, but idk if someone had heard word about something I hadn't.
The only reason the nexus 4 didn't have it was because it's supposed to be pure Google without carrier interference I believe. The s4 should have it as it's a tmobile phone, not a Google phone sold by tmobile (if that's a good way to put it)
Yes, it has wifi calling. even says so on the website.

WiFi calling works on any plan, if the phone has it. I dunno about mobile hotspot, I tried to turn it on and got a "you have to have this service on your plan" message. I think it's a separate thing you have to pay for, which is all the more reason to root&install an app from the play store that does it.

Thanks for the info. Mobile hotspot is more important to me but it might be moot since I'm ordering an att S4 to unlock and work with my tmobile sim. If it doesn't I'll return it and get the tmobile S4.

Let me just say this. I am an UNLOCKED phone user. Always have been. BUT here is where I got tired of the BS with data speeds and such. SO I took the plunge to a TMO branded device with the proper bands in it now.
I suggest doing the same for everyone who is NOT international frequently. It is just a waste. I want the 64gb version, but without the proper bands? Not willing to do that to myself AGAIN.
I just got a Galaxy Nexus. I had a Droid 2 global that I used Easy Tether Pro with. Now for some reason it does not work on my new phone. I had paid for the app so I want to keep using it. The PC I use it on is Windows 7. Any idea would be great.

You're on VZW. The FCC ruled they cannot charge you twice for data, tethering or not. Use the built in tethering option.

I tried clockwork mod tether to see if it would work and it does but I want to see if I can get easy tether to work cuz I would rather not have to pay $5 for an app with I already paid for easy tether.

Can anybody help me? or should I just pay for the Clockword Mod tether.
Has anyone gotten it to work? Mine should theoretically work because it's a part of my shared plan, but it doesn't.

I purchased FoxFi too but I'm not interested in using it. The stock tethering app is supposed to work for those with shared plans. It shouldn't just force close out.

Everytime I click on WiFi hotspot it force closes Settings. I sure hope it isn't my phone because I'm bootloader unlocked and we haven't seen S-Off for this thing yet.
Although I could just reflash stock rom or another rom. I'll call tech support first though.
Did you disable any apps in settings? One of them could've been crucial for tethering.

Good thing WiFi tether for root users works super fantasticly. Thanks to being unlocked and rooted. I still want stock to work though. I'll call up VZW.
