S20 Ultra Exynos > 108MP in Pro mode / GCAM Support? - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hello, i got the Exynos variant and im overall happy except for Battery usage. But the Stock Camera App is horrible, its so restrictive. I come froma LG V40 where i could change everything before taking a photo, i could even perfectly adjust the display to my liking. The S20 Ultra lacks pretty much every customization that i liked. I guess ill switch to a custom rom as soon as one is available.
Now the main problem. I want to use the 108 MP Sensor but with adjusted Colors/Contrast and so on, it oversaturates like crazy. Why is 108 MP not unlocked in the Pro Mode? And is there a way to get GCAM working on the Exynos? Are there any 3rd party apps which let me use the 108 MP Sensor and adjust the settings?

Doesn`t the normal SD chipset work for everyone not on the exynos chip?
Holding my fingers crossed for a Exynos port of the Gcam for the Ultra. Even with the camera update it seriously smears the texture on photos and have had some horrible portrait photos as a result.
Most annoying part is that if you use the pro mode you get excellent results without any smeared skin tones but using the main camera set on auto without bixby scene detection and 12mp binned photos it sure looks like **** most of the time.
I think Samsung REALLY needs to improve a lot on the camera or it will be the biggest camera failure in the last 10 years....
So unless you mainly post to instagram and actually want to print pictures I suggest you use the 108mp setting and give it a quick sharpening in snapseed (or lightroom for some much needed defringing and sharpening)
So I´m holding out hope for a Gcam port for us stuck with the Exynos chipset that seems to produce slightly worse then the Snapdragon powered Ultra.
Other then that, I love the S20 Ultra and a worthy upgrade from my old S8+

The need for HDR in bright daylight is almost non exsistent.

What do you suggest?
if you can get snapdragon go for s20 if not just go for oppo xfinder x2 or mi 10 pro if camera is important for you, if you want the best camera go for p40 check dxomark.com for camera rankings although p40 have no google services but can be installed in less than 10 minutes
So for EU (Exynos) version of S20 Ultra there is no hope?

I use ZGCAM vers.917 on my EXYNOS S20 Ultra (XEF) :
-Night mode front and back
-PhotoBooth
-Photo Sphère (bugs sometimes)
-Slow Motion
-Zoom
-Video
-Google Lens
-Portrait (back and Front)
-Panorama
pictures looks better with stock in most of the cases (Night shoots) but with the correct settings i think GCAM will be much better than stock.
with the virus it's hard for me to spend a lot time outside to find the best set up but i think it's a good begining.
I can't share my pictures or setting for the moment( need 10 usefull posts before..)
let me know if you need more details
It is working!!
First app that has worked for me until now
Thank you very much
Do you know the best settings to use this cam on auto? Never worked with Gcam before

Actually, when I try night mode it shuts down the camera

Where to download working gcam for stock Redmi Note 8 Pro 128gb International

Hello. I have just ordered a Redmi Note 8 Pro - 128 GB
I am living in Turkey so i am guessing it is International
I want to use the phone with stock rom
So is that possible for me to install gcam? Or are there any app that makes the camera even better?
Looking for your answers thank you
t.me/rn8pro_gcam
Doesn't matter if it's international or the others. But yeah there is ongoing gcam porting for the note 8 pro
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...oogle-camera-rn8pro-edition-wyroczen-t3990731
This is the unpopular opinion, but truth be told, GCam for this phone as it is now is super sub par comparing to the stock camera app. There is MUCH more development to be done. You're better off sticking to the stock camera app unless you want to be a tester for wyroczen.
I also think that other than the fun of trying out Gcam, the stock cam is better, using night mode and/or HDR.
My understanding is that the Mediatek processor is the main barrier to having a good working build.

Hardware upgrade Mi 10T to Mi 10T pro

Hi Everyone
Considering that the only difference between the devices is the camera, I own a Mi 10t, and the stabilization is very bad. Do you think it is possible to do this hardware upgrade by buying the sensor of the mi10 t pro?

You would be better off selling your 10T and upgrading then.
You would run into a lot of issues because the 108mp sensor firstly won't fit the 10T and then there are multiple issues because of this, also the software,
There is no software for such a hybrid device
I went for the Pro version personally and it's great,no issues.
I've watched and compared some teardowns of Mi10T and Mi10TPro and the camera modules are 100% identical (the 64mp camera has some plastic around it to be the same size as the 108mp sensor). Also, they share the exact same software. A camera swap should be possible. Just replace the whole camera module + the camera lenses.

Hi, if you are still looking to do this, I have tried this with mixed results. The ois works, but the camera is capped at 64 mp. The software only allows you to select 64mp in pro mode. I am wondering if I can get my hands on the 10t pro app or firmware. Will keep you posted.
I saw a pro module for 10$, so no-brainer for me just for the ois. Hopefully someone will find what to change to get all 108mpx, firmware is the same for nonpro+pro, so there is only some switch inside?
I have fw 12.5.12. (global)
I did put pro camera module inside (easy just remove rear cover and few screws).
Photos in 64mpx mode are now 108mpx (picture 3).
When you take a picture you have white bar at the bottom (picture 2), it is only in preview of regular photo mode, video/night/64mpx are ok. Photo is saved fine, no white bar.
You can zoom-in in playback more than with 64mpx, it will tell you it is 108 and show a square of zoom section in bottom right.
On picture 4 is 64mpx at 600% on left, 64mpx at 100% in the middle, and 108mpx at 600% on the right, you can compare details.
OIS is not working in photo nor video, that was why I decided to do an upgrade, I am sad now.
It should work since the rom package is the same.... did you tried to clean flash rom? (were you using global or chine/xiaomi.eu?)
I am using global, now it offered update to 13.0.2.0, but no change, I will try to update to latest MIUI 13 22.4.6
so after clean upgrade to MIUI 13 22.4.13 everything is the same, line in camera app, ois not working

I had the same results, i had posted about it but not in detail. Any luck so far? I think there might be some hardware difference built in that is preventing ois to work, even if the rom is same and everything. but I might be wrong.

not a custom rom yet, no. I know little about roms. I could not find any stock rom exclusive to 10t pro either. I can try with a custom rom and update you. Any recommendation for custom rom?
Has anyone else tried? , I have both cameras and I want to install the 108 mp to the motherboard that has the 64 mp

How to fix laggy previews (buffer fix) in the Google Camera 8.1 in an Oppo a91?

I recently bought an Oppo A91 and is amazing. Its camera is good but I wanted to take pics at night. I installed several Google Camera ports but the best one overall is the MCG one:
BSG: MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1zfix
Download MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1zfix by BSG.
www.celsoazevedo.com
However, all picture camera modes (Night Sight, Portrait, and Camera) look laggy. The previewer is not smooth at all as you can see in the video.
View attachment 5302309
Furthermore, I tested several ports and each of them had the same issue. Oddly, it never happens when I'm using the other modes like video camera, panoramic, or 360. It strictly happens when I want to take a regular picture.
I have attempted multiple things. Some of them crashed the app, and I was forced to the cache to make it work again. Recently, I even read in a forum a similar case. The individual only disabled the Google Lens integration but in my case, it didn't work at all. In another case, I checked something about the "buffer fix":
. However, I didn't have anything similar and it's for an older version 6 something.
Currently, I'm running the Google Camera in ColorOS 7.2 (Android 10) without any modification.
As some final thoughts, generally speaking, the camera works well. You can take amazing pics but it looks laggy and feels odd. I just would like to know if it can be fixed. Thanks for your ideas.
I would be interested to know too....
Built wise not as good as the Mi A3, and has a P70 SOC, but has better screen
The Mediatek SOC is most likely the source of the lagg, since GCAM is built for Snapdragons
Apart from lagging preview, tap-to-focus doesn't work well too, compared to same models of Snapdragon SoC variants...
e.g. Realme GT Neo vs Realme GT

Good news.
I've experienced the same lagging problem too, but just tried Google Camera Go variant it seems the lagging is gone.
Thread 'Google Camera Go (unlocked)' https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/google-camera-go-unlocked.4298355/
Preview is not lagging, focus works correctly, and the Dark Mode is as good as expected.
I'm on Realme GT Neo with Dimensity 1200 SoC.

front camera not working.
There is none. Not even for the snapdragon version (which is the better edition imo and better supported by gcam) so the alternative edition (exynos) is out of luck as well.
For some reason this phone does not seem to be compatible with gcam and no one is working on it. Of course people are posting config files and claiming some versions work, but they don't.
It is not a working version if the main lens, or any lens is not usable, or if the viewfinder freezes after 2 seconds or if HDR doesn't work.
Of course it would work without HDR or image enhancing, but that would really ruin the point. The point of gcam Is that it's image optimization let's it make better photos than stock camera. If you disable image optimization because you cannot give it sensor hardware access then it is just a regular camera app, called gcam, nothing more.
