I have the strangest of issues, it's not even a inconvenience really just strange, when I'm on Twitter & specifically share a link to another app such as WhatsApp then go to the Task Changer screen, the icon is replaced with a Xiaomi logo...
I don't have any Xiaomi apps, I'd deleted Twitter & reinstalled, I don't follow any Xiaomi accounts, Xiaomi icons aren't on my gallery, any ideas of how to fix this?
Wow! Lol, smh odd, and suspiciously strange, that for sure is NOT a glitch, it is something entirely different

I've installed package manager & went through near enough all of them to see if there's anything suspicious & even checked my Knox status just incase my phone was somehow tampered with, but all seems to be fine, very strange!

Today, for the second time, I received a notification (only showed up in the notification bar) that I have a "Gift Pending" and I "could be today's Christmas Winner"
When I click on the notification it brings me to a webpage with a broken URL
This seems incredibly fishy to me.. does anyone know what this is, if it's malware, and how to remove it?
did you installed any weird app? it might be an ads from those app.
Probably one of those apps that has those notification ads.. you'll have to find the app and uninstall it.

I haven't installed anything out of the ordinary.. "facebook photo sync" "syncmypix" and "ski report" are the only ones that could be considered "werid"
I just deleted my 2 most recently installed apps. Maybe this will fix the problem.
I think I freaked out because I've never seen an advertisement like that before. I wish Google didn't allow this!

So you want Google to not allow applications to give notifications?
Or maybe you really did win a xmas gift! you lucky dog you!

You cannot choose to allow or disallow certain notifications.. How the hell would you go about doing that. Simply stop using the app, and if enough people do so the developer will lose money and chose another ad-model.
If this is in the wrong thread then please move to correct one.
Has anyone else had issues with this... I'll call it problem, but by the way it behaves, it seems more like its a bug.
It has only been something I've seen on Marshmallow. Try to install an app, and its 50/50 whether or not you get "screen overlay detected"
Try to give an app permission, "screen overlay detected".
I should also point out that it isnt just restricted to HTC. My partners (now apparently ticking time bomb) s7 has also had the issue
You can disable as many screen overlays as you like, it still doesnt go away.
I've noticed now, too, that anytime a chat head from facebook messenger is on screen when I try to do something like install an app, it will spit out that problem until I close the chat head. Which was never an issue, ever, before.
Where has this thing come from and why is it even a problem for Android?
Those chat heads on the messenger as well as light filters, as e.g. CF.lumen, are always screen overlays. Those overlays could read out the whole screen, and thus as well what you're typing into banking apps or similar. Thus Google updated the privacy policy of their devices in Marshmallow, ending up in this specific error message. Sometimes it's enough to just turn the screen overlay of via settings > apps, regarding Apps like FB Messenger, CF.lumen, and the like, on other times and Apps you got to reboot the device after done so, or disable the overlay within the Apps settings as well, and seldomly you got to uninstall such an App to get the problem sorted for the time being. At least that's what I could find out searching the web.

It's so malicious apps don't replace the install button with something else (like an install button to install something else).
It's quite clever if you think about it.

In theory I would say it's clever. In practice, it doesn't distinguish between safe apps that are harmless and those that aren't.

How does the system know if an app is safe or not..?

Since Facebook messenger (and pretty much all my apps, most of which don't even have screen overlays but are in the list for it) was downloaded from Google play, I would imagine it isn't difficult to implement a system that flags it as safe.
If an app is installed via an apk, even if it is safe, I would understand more the need for concern. You never know, etc.

It would be difficult to implement a system like that. You never know which app is fake or real. Maybe it was a modified version of the app, you'll never know.
Either way, the feature is there and if you want to install an app just quickly turn off your overlay. Not exactly a big problem.

update to Oct patchset. I have some awesome news!!! The Oct patchset fixes the Ram mgmt issue on Pixel devices for good. Looks like it was a leak in System UI.
I have tried to reproduce my bug and I can start as many apps as I want and it does not lock up anymore. You can refer
https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/pixel/2019-10-01
for more details.
Edit: I could keep about 20 apps, including camera, firefox, whatsapp, slack, gmail, messages, photos, play store, amazon shopping and so on. They stay put on my Pixel3XL!! Awesome!
Wow. So it took Google just a year to fix this?

Better late than never right.
So how exactly should this feature behave? I've never understood.
It should stay in the Recents drawer and not reload the app when re-opening?
Link in the OP doesn't work. This one has a list of updates, though: https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/pixel/2019-10-01

Not a feature. If this is true (what the OP is stating), this is how the phone should have behaved on day one. But yes, the apps should remain open after "re-opening" them from your app drawer.

Fixed.
Yes... I also noticed opening camera app doesn't kill my background apps (like Spotify, Google play music, GPS tracking sw) as often like before... Let's see if this keeps....
Anything like that for pie? Like, a fix I mean...
Any magisk module to help with that? Or something?
I have a question can debloating ROM actually make drain higher on Xiaomi.eu.
I deleted apps like MiCloud, soter service, miuidaemon, mipay etc...
No, exactly the contrary
After debloat Xiaomi.eu, the phone became consumption less battery and of less ram too. and the temperature decreases a lot
this is my list of debloating

I found that removing soter and cloud disables certificate updates...but if that's ever needed you can just restore them.
Also...I uninstalled almost everything except cleaner I find it useful sometimes...otherwise all mi stuff is gone and lots of Google stuff also...
Removing partial collections can lead to increased drain. If two apps work together and one is missing, this could cause the other to run excessively trying to connect to the now missing other app.
The best solution is to make sure you disable all of the parts if you are going to disable the main app, such as all of the backend packages for Facebook.
Note: I don't have this phone, but saw the question in NEW POSTS and have seen this happen before.

But that would show up as system drain or the drain for the present part of app collection

Depends on what had the dependency. If it was a user app, it will show up as the app. If it was part of the framework or system, then it would show up as the system.
Pro tip! If you want 120 Hz everywhere, disable "Battery & Performance" with the Xiaomi Debloater Tool (Xiaomi ADB Fastboot Tools). That app is responsible for limiting the screen to 60 Hz in certain apps, like the Recents-Menu, YouTube, Google Photos etc...

There's a tool called "Xiaomi ADB Fastboot Tools" which can uninstall system apps, and some other features. I think you can uninstall all system apps listed in that program, because it hides the important system apps.
Hello, after latest update i get ControlPanel crashing. Anyone else? This is control panel that comes when you fold the phone on half and use bottom half for the controls on video
ps: Someone on reddit told me if i have 3d dynamic wallpaper. And this was the problem lol, i cant believe this
Any specific app? Cause I was just using it yesterday on MLB.tv with no issues.
Also, what model ZF3 are you using?

Control panel? What does that mean? There's an application or software on Samsung/Android devices called "control panel?”

I kept getting system UI errors in Dex. Did a fresh install, no issues. Started uninstalling the usual stuff through the adb app and after again issues. Did a fresh install again and decided to disable the system apps instead of uninstalling them and there were no issues. My thought is that my issue was related to what shown in the settings app as I usually uninstall digital wellbeing and tips and these options would be gone from the settings, now when they are disabled they still show but dont react when pressed.
Do you still have shortcuts of one of the apps you uninstalled/disabled in the control panel?
