It's not that I found it but it started to work again. The phone has been glitchy ever since I updated to android10. Seems I have a lemon.
Will try and contact Samsung for a replacement

It maybe worth trying to do a factory data reset if you haven't done it already. Getting a major update (or going from one OS to another) sometimes can have some issues that a factory data reset will almost always resolve.

Yes.
Personally I would also suggest setting everything backup without using (or restoring from) a backup. It can be a pain I know, but I don't make this suggestion lightly. I have had some occurences where after a FDR (and everything worked normally) a backup had a corrupted or problematic setting/file that just reintroduced the problem I was having.

So recently I applied the stock rooted 4.0.4 rom to my CDMA Nexus. After this, it would have this strange problem where occasionally the screen would just not respond to any touch. I would battery pull many times over before it would start working again. Tonight I finally got fed up and tried to apply the factory image (4.0.2) to it through Wug's root toolkit v1.3. When it completed the phone went into a serious bootloop, not getting past the google logo. What happened? Did I just make a very expensive paperweight?
Restore everything to an earlier time including the bootloader, recovery, radios, and rom through adb. You can also use a toolkit like the one found below to restore your phone to stock then redo everything:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
Yeah, I've tried that a few times and it's still stuck on the Google image and won't move forward. Just restarts and restarts.
Another evidence that 1 click methods leads to ppl doing stuff without any understanding
Thanks for your help, sir. I know I'm not the most knowledgeable but you don't have to rub it in. I'm already down a phone.

There really are tons of threads here telling you exactly what to do in a case like yours - you just have to use the search and take the time to read through them.
And no, it's not bricked as long as you can get into the recovery.

While I understand your anger, he does also make a valid point. 2 reasons why. If you didn't use a one click method maybe your phone would be working fine. 2nd by doing it the hard way hopefully you learned something and when you have a problem you know how or at least understand what is involved with fixing it.
Hope you get it fixed.

exactly, my intention was not to make you feel bad.
I was hoping this example would make ppl learn the proper way.
As if you did, you wouldnt be in this predicament.
You would also know that you haven't bricked your device, not freak out over it and just fix it.
Cold hard facts are generally blunt and I understand your frustration, I also appreciate that you didnt start a flame war.
Hope you've sorted it out and and learned something in the process.
Good luck.
Ok. I did manage to fix it by learning how to manually flash the stock image. Perhaps I did need the hard line!

Odin back to stock and then reflash your ROM. Backup your internal sdcard before, Odin to stock wipes it.

sorry i didn't see this sooner.... sometimes simply rebooting your phone will fix it... it is probably lost indefinitely now. shouldn't have odined the device with it not showing your IMEI, that was bad advice.

yeah there is, but you have to have a backup of your original IMEI... which i assume you do not have. there is a thread about this issue in the dev section, and toolkit to back up your IMEI
just out of pure curiosity, what recovery are you using?
Nope, I do not have a backup.
Just search in the development section for imei recovery and there is one to get it back even without a backup. Might be issues with you not actually getting 4g again but this way you can return it back to complete stock.

That's not true. Very experienced android flashers have lost theirs, it's a fluke within the recovery and flashing a rom or modem anything being flashed has been reported to make it being lost. Only thing is I think TRWP hasn't been reported to cause it being lost. Anywho... back it up.

Unless the s3s in diff batches are really different.
Has to be sloppy flashing. Jumping to jellybean without wiping data or using superwipe from the Hercules or something.
I've tried losing my imei.
I can't do it.
I had 3 s3s in my hand tonight. Posted with 2

Wife dropped her GS 3 and the screen is blacked out now. I can tell the phone is still working because she is receiving calls and SMS's. I want to sell it for parts, but I can't erase it through CWM because I can't see what i'm doing. Any way to erase it withut having to use the screen?
Was the phone rooted? USB Debugging on?
If you were rooted, you can probably just plug into the computer and access everything that way. The you'd just need to manually delete your stuff. And you could back it up as well.
Also, I believe this thread posted today can help you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43332836
Its centered more on backing up data, but you can wipe data using this method as well. Ill try to be more specific with help but it'll be a bit later due to time. The thread op there could help you out too I'm pretty sure. I'd ask there too in case he can do so before I can.

I'm running MOAR 7.01 on my phone and my wife's.
Is it possible to transfer my settings to her phone so they are the same?
Thanks, Randy
I'm by no means an expert but could u make a back up on ext sd. Then put that card in her phone and restore it with that backup? Hopefully an expert will chime in to confirm if it'll screw up. I wouldn't try it till then.

It's never really a good idea to restore settings, especially on a different phone.

I was thinking there is probably a file in there somewhere to make it easy. A regular backup would probably screw up the apps.

+1000 as metalfan78 pointed out, it is not a good idea. Can it be done ? Yes, most likely. Is it a good idea ? Definitely not. There are many things that can go wrong. If you want to have the same settings on both devices, the best advice I can give you is to do them each manually. Yes it will be more of a chore. But if you have an issue, it will be easier to track down.

Doesn't sound like he's really trolling but it appears that it should be fine. But of course if your wiping data, what do you have to lose? Worst case scenario you flash factory images.

If you are rooting your phone, and installing custom kernels, i sure hope you already know the answer to your "question"..If you dont, you might want to think twice before flashing stuff on your 1000 dollar phone.

I've been on these forums for a long time and I know more than well what I'm doing. This device has proven to be quite a bit different then previous devices. It was a simple question and if you knew the answer than you could have simply wrote "yes, everything should be fine." Instead, you decide to sarcastically say "why wouldn't it be?" The Q&A forum is here for a reason.
But on another note @Rydah805, thanks for your reply, it is much appreciated! ?
