I am curious what experiences other Pixel XL owners have had with regard to device replacement from Google. Are they still replacing insurance claims with a new (refurbished) Pixel XL, or have they started replacing it with a newer model device?
I came into possession of my current Pixel XL because I broke my three year old Nexus 6P and got the Pixel as the replacement.
Thanks for any insights!

I purchased my phone maybe 3-4 weeks ago and I'm now just having a dead pixel in the top left corner, almost pin sized. I'm in Canada and we didn't have the Nexus Protection at launch. My question is what is my best course of action? Just recently they have now instituted the plan upon purchase.
I bought 5x from Canadian Google store also and found a dead pixel too. I called them and they are sending me replacement 5x no problem.
Does anyone know if Best buy or Verizon corporate stores will have the Pixel XL on display before lunch day. I preorder mine but hate not having the chance to have a feel for it before it arrive. Im most worry about the size it been bigger than my Note 7 ( wich im going to return ASAP ONCE Pixel XL arrive!!??)Thanks!!
Best Buy might have it on release day. Any Verizon store will surely have it on display
okay so Bestbuy has pixel XL black 32gb in stock, can pickup same day whatever. get them to hopefully price match google or verizon as it makes sense?... anywho, what i want to know is can i unlock my verizon bestbuy pixel and adb flash it to googles standard stock rom their pixel comes with and will it receive updates, unlocked, and adb flashed to 100% stock? and will there be any difference between my phone and googles minus the fact I picked it up at BestBuy, and also for any form of warranty support, would I contact google? I know back in the 6P days if you bought it at bestbuy youd have to contact hauwei as google didnt support it at that point.. it had to be bought from them...
or should i suck it up, wait for the XL on googles website......
Similar situation here. Both Bestbuy and Verizon store has the Pixel XL in-stock, but Google Play currently shows XL out of stock. I saw other forums that try and persuade people to not buy from Verizon because their boot loader is encrypted and can't be unlocked. I don't think this is true, but I would like to verify. It's just a pain to have to do all of this work to get Android stock installed. I just want an unlocked Pixel and go on my way.
PS: It's weird that the XL version is out of stock, all colors (silver, black, blue) and memory (32gb and 128gb) are all sold out on Google Play. I see people upcharging these devices on Ebay and Amazon for twice as much as what you would pay on Google Play. Ridiculous. I can wait.
I walked into best buy and walked out with a 32 gig two weeks ago. The guy selling it to me was pissed because he was still waiting on his. Fair warning though, best buy doesn't carry the 128 gig

As of today you can still unlock the best buy and Verizon bootloader's with depixel8
So, if i buy pixel xl from ebay and there are problems, would Google be able to help me out for warranty purposes?

I don't believe so unless you have the original receipt and act as the original buyer.

Hey,
I would like to get some advices before I purchase a Pixel XL
what would be a better choice if I am not willing to buy a brand new Pixel XL
a used one from swappa (mint condition)
a refurbished phone from ebay (it was refurbished by a company approved by the manufacturer), with only 30-days seller warranty..
the price is almost the same for both phones.
the only thing that would worry me with the refurbished is if the screen was the reason for the refurb, then maybe they did not install an Original replacement ? could this happen?
what would you advice me to do?
Not sure if there are panels by other manufacturers, I think they are all literally the same. So if a screen was replaced, it was replaced by the same quality part that was in to begin with.
Personally, I'd go swappa, I use swappa constantly and I think there is a 60 day return thing with them (can't remember)
I bought mine from Swappa and it was such an easy buying experience.
I would just go through eBay either way you're going to be good.
There was a sale previously from Google Store.

I think before or after Pixel 2 released, there would be another round of sale, if you are not in hurry to purchase.

Get Swappa you could find a good deal a lot of times the sellers throw in accessories. but I would tell you if you could wait for a few months you should for Pixel 2.
I have sold on SWAPPA and have not had any issues. I have not bought anything as of yet. I do like EBay as well and have sold and bought from there.
Just look at the persons feedback. I would try SWAPPA before Ebay.
Get one on swappa that's mint and not a refurbished one
