I'm just not seeing what you report, either in the video or on my own phone, sorry.
I kind of see a jump. It looks like multitouch is acting up. Do you have anything on the screen (or touching it in any way, such as a case or protector). If there is no physical input to the screen maybe a factory reset? It could be defective.
turn on "Show Taps" in developer mode to check for ghost touches,
Return it

Hi all. I've been busy playing with my new toy now for a few weeks and love it.
One thing I have seen happen on a few occasions, but cannot find any details of, is when I am using the browser and flicking the page up gently as I am reading, it takes off at super speed on it's own and scrolls right to the bottom as if on auto pilot!!
Is this an actual "feature"?
I have tried to reproduce it, but I just cannot find how
Then when I am least expecting it, I give the screen a gentle flick, and away it goes again!!
Haha, yeah... it happens when you are scrolling in a direction and suddenly stop keeping the screen touched down on. Let it go and whoosh! You have to quickly press+hold the screen and move it a little in the opposite direction to make that stop or it continues. Can be very annoying at times, but very helpful to me at times too. It's that repeatable for me that it almost sounds like an intentional feature. IDK though.

Hi..
when i want to open my contacts.. it just blank n i need to wait like 5sec or more to complete load of my contacts.. any 1 have this problem or just me??... or this problem is because i got too many contacts?? but its ok for my Htc One X... (i sync with Facebook)... and can some 1 tell me hw the smart stay really work ><"... i cant get it right ><"... (orady tick at smart stay setting).. sorry for my bad english ><"... Thx... *Not Rooted*
same problem with my phone also, somebody help plz.........
><".. any 1? ><"
Once Your screen on time is over..eg:30 seconds. ...You will get an eye symbol on the status bar indicating sensor time to check your eyes when smart stay is on... If you are watching the screen. .It keeps the screen on. . If you are watching else where. ..screen goes to sleep

thx... any idea about the lag?
i dont think you will have lag while in regular use...you might have the lag when you check contacts immediately open waking your phone from deep sleep..this is due to the 4 cores getting revved up from deep sleep, takes 1- 1.5 sec..
try this , play a graphic intensive game and then open contacts- does it still lag?
Lot of times i have faced the issue of touch not happen at some points and also sometimes the buttons even dont show up.
1. when i open amazon.in in my chrome...after turning the night mode on...whenever i scrollup the window...the screen of phone flickers...i tried to take screenshot bt they were clear...
At some time...i felt that the screen will fuseoff...it was so bad experience...and no bug report found at all for future improvements.
2. Major flaw...when i played games...all worked fantastic bt somehow the phone does not understand the coding of the game(hitman absolution)
Whenever i try to switch the weapon in armoury, the arrow to switch between weapons appears for about half second and vanishes...at the end i am unable to switch the weapons...stuck at default weapon...
A huge dissatisfaction that u have every specs to play around and i dont know wt is stopping me from enjoying the things.
Lot of websites dont load properly like on other mobiles...
3. I am huge fan of hayday game...but when i start playing...after 5-10 minutes....the game shuts of accidently and homescreen appears...and the thing happens everytime ...even after multiple reboots and full battery.
Not even the app not responding box shows...just everything shuts...very bad experience....and dont know the solutions of such things...
The slow motion feature in the camera records at 120fps...quite fast for slomo and 960 fps which makes video look laggy...ther must be some solution to record 540fps also.
And the customization..crap..there is no theme engine...if u wanna change something...in dreams or in other rom.
There is not even the default gallary application by lenovo...no android M logo shows up on multiple tap in settings about model/base, just sick of the things....better switch the rom.
So I've gotten Redmi Note 8t half a month ago or so.. and about the time I updated to MIUI 11 I've started experiencing this weird bug.. Any app or screen or page or icons from the home screen or buttons from apps that remain turned on for some time (literally anything longer than 15 seconds) kind of stay "etched" on my screen for some time (relatively equivalent to the time the relevant app/screen/page was turned on).
I have no idea why this is happening so any help would be massively appreciated. A photo of the problem attached.
Ps this bug appears on every darker screen, not just on home screen.

the images don't seem to be loading for me, but looking at your description it appears to be a burn-in problem.
I'd suggest you bring it to a service center to have it checked.

Thanks for your reply. Try opening them by clicking on the link and then tapping on "view full image" - it's the only way they'll load I've no idea why, today the whole xda website behaved very unresponsive for me, maybe they didn't upload properly.
Anyway I've just now googled "burn-in" (yep I'd never heard about this before) and from whar I've seen it seems pretty similar to my problem.
Although, in my case, the icons/buttons/keyboard letters that "etch" themselves into the screen after being used for some time do disappear after some time (usually dependant on the time those apps/icons/letters were shown/used on the main screen.
PS The thing is new, I've no idea how this could have happened.

I had this issue with a Moto G5, apparently it is not permanent, wich is nice, because when its permanent like in the case of amoled displays, the only real solucion is to replace the display. In this case to minimize it I downloaded a blue screen filter app and lowered the screen brightness to around 70 or less, btw this usually happens when you are watching bright stuff or when the phone is hot, also try to use dark mode whenever you can.
FOUND A SOLUTION
After tampering with many a setting, I found out that setting the colour temperature of the display in the stock settings of the phone to cool renders the burn-in almost completely invisible.

nice to see your problem has been solved!
some LCDs have screen retention when displaying certain colour temperatures.
also, seems like your attached photos are working again
Been using the phone for the last 12 hours and I noticed something towards the end of my use last night.
The screen seemed to become unresponsive. And when it would work it would start to make its own input when scrolling and opening any app or link my finger would drag over while scrolling.
Changed refresh rates, changed resolutions, even seen if the blue light filter was the issue. Nothing.
Almost seems like the screen drops frames when scrolling, like it gets caught on something.
New development. Fingerprint sensor doesn't respond at all and inputting a pattern is damn near impossible. Going to try removing the screen protector to see if that could also be the issue
Did a factory reset
Issue seems to be where the finger print scanner is
It's almost like a dead or unresponsive zone.
Sounds like a factory defect, better have it replaced if resetting didn't worked.
Small video showing when scrolling over the fingerprint reader, the screen almost loses input
Defect.
Samsung has been little help lol. They want me to send it in for repair instead of an exchange. They also said to just order a whole new one and return the one I have now except the black 128 is sold out

Sounds like Samsung support LOL...sorry you're having issues
Did you remove the factory installed screen protector? Maybe it's the cause of the issue
Return that pal, that doesn't sound good at all.

one of the first things i did to trouble shoot. still having the issue. sometimes the screen completely loses all touch registration and it doesnt even know im trying to swipe or push on things. just realized it did this also after tmobiles new software update.
im still waiting here to hear back from samsung on how they are going to fix this issue
The same thing happens to me. Pulling down the notification shade seems to be the only thing that still works. It seems to goose the phone and it starts working again.
Test using the *#0*# diagnostic menu and use the Touch test.
