Hey, sorry I didn't explain better. I used to be able to swipe up and it would minimize the chat into the bubble but now I have to minimize it by either tapping on the bubble or swiping back untill I'm out

Very difficult to move icons on the home screen
Don't wait for the icons to "let go". Just long press and move Em. If you wait too long it will act like you let go.. Kinda hard to explain.

Noticed this. The only way i've found is to flick it away from the original position super fast and only then it lets me move it around and between homescreens.

This is due to nova launchers speed to be honest. The trick is to watch as soon as the icon begins to glow and then move it quickly. takes a little practice but its a learnable skill

That should be it.
Hahaha the little things that make a difference eh? It's easy to tell when we can move this on our phones because of the haptic feedback. I came to google the issue (thought perhaps my digitizer was defective, but it was okay everywhere else) glad to find this and the beta apk, cheers!
In nova settings there is an option to update which fixes all problems with nova. Just download and install apk for the win!!!
I am trying Nova.... I can't seem to get icons to show up "in the center" of the "icon area". I have screen set to 7 x 7 (I sure wish Nova had more rows), and when an app icon appears in it's space it is top justified, but widgets seem to be centered, so nothing lines up. I also like no margins, but the icon area also covers the dock, leading to problems. Does buying Pro fix this? Back to GO for me.
That you can now swipe away notifications from the lock screen without the screen lighting up all the way? I just noticed this haha. Now it's more like the Moto display. SWEET!

No because on the nexus 6 and even the Pixel, when you touch the notification on the lock screen the entire screen would light up full color. NOW the notification stays black and white while you swipe away.

I guess you're right, I never paid attention to whether it was in color or not, just glad that I could swipe away without unlocking.

Yeah it was a big thing for ex-moto users. We got used to it and swiping away notifcations in the dark wouldn't light up the entire screen causing the room to light up. PLUS the reasoning for staying black and white was that its' supposed to save battery by not having to fully enable the screen.

with the ambient display or whatever it is you can swipe away whatever notification without waking up your phone to show the entire lockscreen.

That wasn't the original behavior. I'm wondering exactly when it changed. The original ambient display behavior was that if you touched the notification on the lockscreen, the ENTIRE display would turn on including your wallpaper. It doesn't do that NOW but I'm just curious if anyone knows when the change was implemented.
Are you on O? Because you can no longer do this on O

Yes. I'm on O. you can only do it when the initial notification comes in. Once the initial notification disappears it goes to the small icons with no info. THAT part I do no like
it's always worked that way as long as you did nothing other than swipe the notification, at least it always did for me. it was only if it actually registered as a tap that the screen would light up or if you stopped mid swipe.
What I think is cool is that you can now swipe a calendar notification and pick a snooze option!

I have animations turned off but I don't have the issue you are having.
I am. Animations are on too. Doesn't seem as prevalent as on DP2 though. Still definitely happening.

Haven't noticed on dp3. Dp2 yes I remember it happening. Dp3 seems really good from my experience. But I always clean flash, even beta updates...I factory reset everytime.
Neither with me although animation's are all set to Off.
I got a screenshot of when it does it. When youswipe up the icon for the recent app page is missing. That's how I know when it will have this issue

Did you clean flash? Just for the sake of bugs running betas I always clean flash. I experience less bugs that way I have found.
I've never seen that occur. Stock Launcher right? Nova Launcher doesn't have the suggested apps below the cards which I only noticed several days ago.

Switched from Nova launcher to stock pixel and it never happens now
Yeah I'm waiting for Nova to get updated to support all the new stuff and I'll switch back. I'm really missing the swipe down on the homescreen to pull down the notification menu though. More convenient than the swipe down on the finger print scanner for me.

Yeah, it happened a few times a day using Nova it was enough that it bothered me.
One last thing, I wish I had found this out before I wiped my phone lol
Hasn't done it one time since beta 4 good job Google
Hi all. New on this phone, I've searched for this but could not find, so maybe someone here could help me. Is there a gesture to quickly turn off screen (had a gesture on my old nexus that was double tapping home button)?
Thanks in advance!
You could try 'Edge sense plus' (check the play store) to use the squeeze function to turn off the screen instead of launching the assistant. Personally I use nova launcher and swipe up to turn off the screen.
I'm sure there are other alternatives as well, but that's my 2 cents
I use the app called edge gestures on the play store. Works very well for me!

Is that the app that costs 1,77? Wich are the possible gestures for screen off?
Do you have the possibility to use the fingerprint sensor to turn screen off?
Thanks!
Yeah it does cost some money but I can't remember exactly how much. There is a native screen lock option for Android 9+ and I don't think there is any fingerprint gesture. It's primarily for the edges of your screen.

You could try turning on accessibility menu in the accessibility settings if you don't mind having a small icon to the right of the pill at the bottom of the screen. When you click it, there are several options given and lock screen is one. It's not a simple gesture swipe or a simple double tap but it may be an option.

Tried that, and it works, it appears a person button, and when you press it, it gives a lot of options, and the lock screen is one of them. I will keep using until a easier solution if found. I can not believe android will not include a gesture option for this by default.
I hate to have to press a button to lock the screen, they end up breaking/wearing so fast.
Thanks all for your responses, and other solutions are welcome. Cheers! :good:

Forgot to mention though that with it, when you open the camera app, you'll get this '5 second burst' label on the screen that some find annoying but I, for one, don't mind it.
Oh and when you're down and feeling blue, that small person icon seems to be ready to give a hug so just look at your phone. Hahaha

Yes now thinking it could be a accesibility info. I really do not like it. Will keep searching for other options... Don't mind to have a extra menu, but would preffer a native app and not a installed one. :good:

It's swiping/tapping from either the left, right, or bottom of the screen.
I use Wakeup touch Nexus, which, apart from letting you wake the screen using the proximity sensor, also allows you to turn off the screen by touching an icon on the desktop https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wolandsoft.wtn

This one can create a toggle in quick settings... (the padlock) its great!, you can use fingerprint to unlock, and all working fine (no root required).

Thanks, but looking for gestures apps or ways to lock the screen.
Check this widget out. It is invisible and adds double tap to lock functionality to any launcher.

Works without root in Android P or with root in Oreo and lower. In both cases, fingerprint unlocking works afterwards.

It works and adds functionality to accesibility. Nice contribution! Thanks! Although will be using this, i'm open to other possibilities. Loving this phone!
Anyone else seen this? Using the stock navigation gestures, swing up on the right to bring up recent applications. I only get one white screen, no recent apps showing.
Pixel 2 XL on Google Fi.
I just opened Reddit, XDA, Gmail and Spotify a second or to before the screenshot.
I use gestures as well and no issues here after the December update.
