I have an original note 10.1 and i'm wondering if any of you have upgraded and if you think it was worth it.
The s/w looks quite different, maybe a question of personal taste.
I think the best part will be the resolution increase but i'm not sure if you notice it that much.
thx

I upgraded and imo it isn't worth it. The resolution is nice but it is best displayed on paper, when I put them side by side i don't notice a night/day difference. The software is much better on the original (see how many people are complaining about the new snote) and root is better on the first as well. Battery life is better on the original.
If I hadn't promised my old one to my nephew I wouldn't have kept the new one.

Thanks for your helpful comments, you mention some relevant points, i guess i'll be keeping my note for now.
I upgraded and I think the higher res display is well worth it.
They're very different devices. The size, display, and additional features are worth it to me. I like the new multiview, Pen Window, and S Note but not everybody does. I also went from a N2 to a N3 which made the transition a lot easier. The N10.1-14 is a lot closer to the N3 in design and features than the N2 was to the N10.1-12. Going from the N3 to the N10.1-12 was driving me crazy and S Note is no longer compatible with the 2012 version so sharing S Notes requires a N3/N10.1-14 combination. I'm very happy with the upgrade although some things take some getting used to. Like the h/w buttons and phone UI on a tablet. Some people deal with change better than others.

I could not agree more. I picked up my tablet yesterday and can say the following things I have noticed:
1. The screen is better, but it honestly has not blown me away.
2. Camera is way better.
3. The device doesn't work as well with a mouse and keyboard. Not only does it constantly disconnect, the lack of soft keys causes a problem when trying to use my mouse to go to "home" screen, also, previously bumping the mouse against the edge of the screen resulted in panning of the currently displayed homescreen panel to the adjacent side.
4. S-Note is a boss, way better
5. Battery life doesn't seem quite as good.
6. Device boots faster and is faster but not terribly noticeable once booted.
7. Widgets aren't as good in my opinion. (I'm thinking digital clock and alarm)
8. The device looks way nicer.
I went to Best Buy today and saw the new Note 10.1 in display. It looked nice and my wife ask me if I want to upgrade my Note 10.1 2012. Didn't play much with it but the screen was a bit better. The multitasking looks good too but not sure if it's worth the expense right now. I love my old Note and it's my primary tablet/computer. Maybe I should upgrade just because I know my tablet will start falling in performance and battery.
We're in the same boat, really don't know if I should upgrade. I'll do more research.

This is so odd. I've had a OG G-Tab 10.1, N10.1-12, and now a N10.1-14. Using the same keyboards and mice the N10.1-14 is hands down the best of the three for what you've described. "Best" defined as always auto-connecting when I turn on BT, staying connected while I'm using them, no errant key strokes or mouse positioning, mouse buttons controlling Android functions (EG: right click=back, center key=home, long center key=task manager), and playing nice with other BT devices that also might be connected. It's the first Android device I've owned that I feel comfortable bringing with me as my only "Office" connectivity option. I have a Latin American SM-P601 and don't know if that makes the difference but it's incredibly strange that some folks commend something you're highlighting as a problem.
I started this thread discussing this subject before I even knew some people were having BT peripheral problems.

I don't know if @ChrisNee1988 is from the U.S. but if he is and using a U.S. N10.1-14 on the same s/w you are that points to something most likely s/w related on your particular device that's causing the issue(s). If @ChrisNee1988 is using a non-U.S. N10.1-14 and has no issues with the same KB you're using that points to a problem with Samsung's U.S. ROMs. It would be interesting if someone would hard reset their device and try the KB and mouse before loading any third party apps to see if it makes a difference. If it does, people can start to compare notes to figure out which third party app(s) are borking BT connectivity.

Here's something to try. BT and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi share the same wireless band and sometimes the same antenna(s). See if you're still have disconnect issues with Wi-Fi off and/or connecting to 5GHz instead of 2.4GHz. Just trying to think of things that could be different between international and U.S. N10.1-14 versions.
Okay this was tested with zero apps loaded and at each US firmware update.

Actually that's referring to my 2012 note 10.1. The 2014 model is stock.
If you are content with the low resolution, it's not a huge upgrade. I actually wish the new Note had more bezel and tapered edges, so the smaller size doesn't impress me much. For me though I could never stand the low res after owning 720p phones. I can't believe people can say it's not night and day between 1280x800 and 2560x1600. It's a HUGE difference, 4x as sharp. My wife upgraded from the old Note because her S4 spoiled her eyes and she just couldn't stand the low res anymore. She could have gotten an iPad Air like all the sheep and saved $50 but nope. I trained her well so she hates Apple as much as I, lol.
Also worth noting that a lot of games render at 1280x800 still, like Real Racing 3 and Asphalt 8, so if you're a big time gamer you might consider that as well.

Getting mine tomorrow... and am glad that games still render at 1280x800... Asphalt8 in max is sometimes slow on my old 10.1 and in 2500x1600 it would be to much for the new Note 2014

The upgrade from the old 10.1 to the new 10.1 is huge for me. The old 10.1 made my eye balls bleed when reading for more then a few minutes.. the resolution is huge when it comes to text. The new 10.1 is pleasure to read books on..
The rest is about the same. True, the new s note is pretty bad.. but i use lecturenotes exclusively anyway.. much better note taking app.

Coming from the previous Note 10.1 the weak point for me was the resolution... Im so glad they decided to leave 720p behind.
The fit and finish are much better to me as well and i love this tablet and cannot see getting another, unless the 2015 is better!

It was the much improved screen resolution that persuaded me to upgrade from the gen 1 Note 10.1, the screen on the 2014 is leagues ahead. When I bought the original note I never envisaged using it for much reading, but thanks to Taptu, Pocket, EZpdf and Moon Reader, I used it far more than I expected for reading. The 2014 has a whole more grown-up feel to it (this is probably also helped because I've bought a black one this time around!). the original note was a very good tablet, the 2014 is a fantastic tablet.
I did have a small amount of lag when I first got the 2014, but this has gone by reducing the animation settings. Yes it's a great upgrade to the original Note 10.1 IMHO, but of course this may depend if your expectations differ.
After tweaking (aka stopping Samsungs 10 million programs from running in the background constantly) this tablet has been perfect. I understand them doing it for the popular "experience" but you know us on this website aren't your average users..so I don't need the dog and pony show lol. Which why lag is gone and battery lasts longer.
I've had about 8 tablets in my life, this has been the best, and not just because it's the newest. It has everything I need. High res, long battery, runs everything, built quality (my 3rd samsung tablet and they finally got build down), great size and weight....sd card.
Honestly I don't care about the pen I'm just a tablet fan.

I'm pretty sure the international variant will but what about the AT&T Qualcomm variant? I hear many great things about Wolfson and it would be icing on the cake if the AT&T version finally had it. Did a lot of google searching with no results, or I just suck at researching...
I believe the Snapdragon versions utilize the DAC on the qualcomm SOC. GSMArena did a review though, claims very good audio. A little trouble with crosstalk, but here's to hoping an app or a tweak will resolve that issue.

What a shame :/ I mean music still sounds great on my S4 thanks to Poweramp but it would've been nice for that little extra boost. Oh well, I usually listen to music when I run and I am really not gonna be running with a phone this big in my hand. Can't say how many times my otterbox saved my S4. I'll just stick my S4 for workout music and leave the Note in the car for peace of mind.
This is why I can never use an Android phone for my music. No matter how good the tests fair, they never measure up when it comes to the only test that matters to me. My ears. That's why I purchased a refurbished iPod 5.5 gen a couple of months ago. Qualcomm's dacs aren't terrible, but they're not great either.
Also, Cirrus Logic bought out Wolfson in August, so the Wolfson of old may no longer exist.
I picked up an external usb dac(Dragonfly 1.2) a few months ago, awesome purchase and works with my current phone over OTG. Hopefully it works with my incoming Note 4.
I'm a bit disappointed with the lack of a Wolfson DAC as well, which means a lack of tuning the DAC itself.
I may go with the external DAC option provided it works on the Note 4.
After playing with the EQ and Adapt sound, the quality is noticeably better then my S4, I'm quite satisfied this time, but still want Wolfson.
Did you get your phone and did the dac work?

As of right now, I'd suggest the Huawei watch. Though, if I were you, I'd wait. A whole bunch of new Android wear watches are probably about to be released. Android wear 2.0 is about to come out with a whole bunch of new features, and a bunch of new watches should follow to support these new features.

I'm quite happy with my Sony Smartwatch 3:
- cheap (you can easily find it for ~100€ on Amazon
- I can easily get a full solid day off the battery
i'm using a samsung gear s3 frontier along with my OP3T. notification works well. i can answer calls but I cannot text on the watch (not that I want to). spotify controller works well, and I can read flipboard articles on the watch to pass time.
Huawei watch is pretty good, tho mic and voice commands seems to be worse than on the other watches. Maybe because mic is located underside of the watch, where the band connects. I have been using Android wear 2.0 beta for some time already, and really liking it, much smoother than old version. But Google is propably gonna announce new watches soon, Android wear 2.0 stable is coming in next month. If you find a really good deal for Huawei watch or others, then maybe buy now, but otherwise I would wait and see the new ones which are coming.
No love for the Asus Zenwatch 3 in here?

I've been using a Sony Smartwatch 3 ever since it was launched and wouldn't change it for anything else. I tried a Huawei Watch for a couple of days and it wasn't as comfortable. Furthermore, I use it as a GPS running watch and it pairs with any BT Smart HRM without any issue. Nice to go for a long run without a phone when you have GPS, MP3-player and HRM on your wrist.
I would recommend the Samsung Gear S3 ,or even the Gear S2 ,the software is superior to Android wear in my opinion .

I'm planning on getting a gear s3 frontier with my 3T. How is the compability? Any significant limitations compared to pairing it with a Samsung phone?
Anyone miss a call notification once and a while?
Ill notice Ill get a missed call on my watch and it never vibrated
Using Gear S3 Frontier and the only thing i might miss is google assistant unless sammy updates the gear s3 with their own rumoured assistant Bixby.
The rotating bezel, the battery life, and the simple OS are major wins.
and with samsung pay about to launch in India its a major win because of MST.
What's going to be the best watch for Pixel thinking about going with the Galaxy watch but I don't know how well they woul work together
The Galaxy watch works best with a Samsung phone user especially if they are actually using Samsung software. It's got great multiple day battery life, doesn't look cheap.
Ticwatch Pro has it's secondary display so it can go into it's super low power mode. It does very little in that mode and I didn't find it of any use but if your itinerary includes setting off on a 10 day camping trip with 20% watch battery remaining having forgot to charge it's the only smart watch that will still be lit up after that ten days. It does have legitimate all of a long day power though which with Android is really the best you can hope for unless you get the Galaxy watch. Overall this watch is my preferred watch over the 2 I've mentioned so far and the next one.
Fossil sport gives you the latest but still old Wear OS processor. It doesn't help in any way I could discern with performance or battery life. Comes in two sizes but only the bezel gets bigger, screen remains the same. I liked this one but nothing much about it stands out.
So those are the ones I've tried recently. I'd go Ticwatch Pro if choosing among them. The Galaxy is the best hardware hands down but you have a very limited app selection and it works best with Samsung phones which I don't have right now. I don't have much bad to say about the Fossil but don't have much good to say about it either. It lacks the Ticwatch party trick and in my use had slightly worse battery life.

Best watch is the Samsung Galaxy! It will work perfect! I have one.
I am thinking about getting 3a XL. I do love my Nexus 6, but 3a, might be faster.
As much as I prefer wear OS over tizen, I will say that my Galaxy S3 classic works pretty well. The battery life is decent, having Samsung pay is nice without bogging down my phone software, and app support has gotten better. If it weren't for the abysmal battery life and decent selections for decent wear OS devices, I would be on one in a heartbeat. I had the ZTE quartz from T-Mobile, which was actually a pretty great watch for the price, but we all know what happened with ZTE and software updates are non-existent sadly, and it seems 3rd party development has halted entirely.
Tizen is really the only decent software offering right now, considering the hardware it runs on. Hopefully, Google can convince oems to make more decent wear OS devices, but I'm not holding my breath for it, sadly.
Galaxy watch has better battery life over s3. Over anything and is the most water proof.
I got lucky. Almost bought an S3. SO glad I didn't!
Been using my huawei smartwatch2 with 3axl. No issues yet and all notifications seem to be working fine

I will most likely get one very soon. It's in my cart. Still no TWRP. Unicorn ROM is available. Can be rooted. The thing that scares me is the bad reviews on the screen. Dimmer than a regular Pixel and not very good image quality some say.
Android Q beta available for all Pixel devices.
Nasty bug in Q for Samsung Galaxy watch plugin though.

twrp is being worked on and should be released unofficially soon(look in the twrp thread)
the screen is fine tbh and honestly until twrp is out im sticking to rooted stock as its the easiest to deal with, i personally dont have any issues with the screen, its plenty bright outside in direct sunlight and the thing is color calibrated from the factory also image quality meaning pictures? if so then it's literally the same camera module as the pixel 3/xl just without that image processor so snapchat can't use hdr+ enhanced but the google camera can still so its really a non issue
just go to a tmobile store or verizon store or best buy and check the phone out(assuming you are in the states) before buying it yourself, frankly im getting tired of seeing notches and pin holes in displays so i mainly got the 3a xl just because it didnt have those and the fact that its a google phone(so i know its gonna be a decent buy regardless)

I think the Note 20 S-pen will work with the Note 10, but probably you won't have latency reduction. I assume that the latency reduction is achieved by changes in both the S-pen and the digitizer in the screen.
To know for sure: Just go to a phone store with your Note 10+ and try the Note 20 Ultra S-pen from a demo model....
Just because the Note 10/10+ S Pen works on the Note 20/20 Ultra, does not mean the Note 20/20 Ultra S Pen will work on the Note 10/10+. You can try it for $40.00 though. Let us know if it works.

Because Samsung says so: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00080319/
"Note: The Note8 S Pen can be used with the Note9 or Note10, but it will not include the Remote Control features. Available screens and settings may vary based on wireless provider or software version. Although the Note20 5G and Note20 Ultra 5G's S Pen is identical to the Note10’s pen, it is not compatible with the Note10. Only the handwriting function will work."
The latency reduction is with the N20, using the N20 pen with the N10 even if it works will not reduce latency time.
For the price Sammy should have done on the 10+ too.
Lame.

No Sammy not buying a very expensive flagship phone (that you deliberately choose to skimp on) every year from you.
Get your sh.. together or maybe it will be an Asus next year.

Yeah... package blocked them. Enable galaxy store only when I need it as it sucks resources in the background as well.
Samsung music, blocked; Poweramp.
The lower latency is hardware on the phone. The spens should be intercompatible. Note 10's pen on N20 Ultra should also work the lower latency. But the other wah around won't give you better latency on N10+.
