Digigasin ripped me off!!!

I have to complain about this site selling add space to Digigasin. This guy operates out of his apartment. I know because I found it. He took my money through PayPal and never did deliver the order. It has been past 45 days so PayPal won't do anything about it. They told me to go to the police. Digigasin will not reply to my emails and the phone number is just an answering machine. Don't buy anything from Digigasin, you'll be sorry.
I repeat, this site should not let him advertise here!
This site is not selling ads space to Digigasin, it has Google Adsense on it, and Digigasin has payed google to advertise. The ads are placed based on keywords found on the page you're looking and on local information (if you're from switzerland you get more swiss ad's).

I figured it was something like that. I guess I'm just venting...he took 189. Swiss francs from me. It is the first time I've been ripped off on the Internet and it doesn't feel good. I just wanted to warn others about this guy. His business is not professional at all, I know because I went there...nobody home either.
im a webmaster that uses google adsense and you can request specific ads not to be displayed, perhaps xda-devs could do that?
Well I am in Switzerland and the only add that I see at the moment is from Digigasin, change section, same add, go to wiki, same add.
So can't miss him. Looks like Google does not have many customers over here.

I wrote a letter to toppreise.ch where he advertises as well. It has been an eye opening experience. I did my research and still got ripped off. I'm going back to my old criteria, never let a an outstanding order go over the credit card/PayPal dispute period. My Platinum card would have snatched that money back if I hadn't waited so long. My excuse is the holiday season...live and learn.

Yes, why can't you stop this guy. This is really a matter of fraud. One of the reasons that I took a chance on him is because I saw his adds here.
Hello,
I am the webmaster of Digigasin and I must tell you I am highly shocked about what Matterhorn said. I am no crook ! I sometimes forget to reply to mails, that's true, and sometimes deliveries take time ! But one again, I am no crook !!
Whatever the problem is about (and I really don't know what it is about...), this customer will be refunded. My reputation is of value. I've just written an email to this member to have an explanation....

Besides, when a customer buys something with Paypal, he can write to Paypal and the money is immediately taken off my account, therefore the customer is refunded!
So what Matterhorn says is untrue. He certainly bought something in my Shop and the delivery period was certainly long. It is true that it's hard to reach me by phone and maybe I did not see one of his emails..but if he wrote more than one, I don't see how I could not have seen them and give a prompt reply !

Digigasin,
You don't run a business by "forgetting" to answer emails. I placed the order on November 14, 2006, yes that is a long time. I'll reply to you privately as I already have 5 times between Nov. 24, 2006 and Jan 11, 2007. Maybe this time you will respond.

No, you are wrong, what Matterhorn says is completely true. I sent you 5 emails and a voice mail trying to clear this order up and you didn't respond (I have all the records). I called PayPal to find out what to do and they said that because you strung the whole thing out for more than 45 days, that I would have to go to the police in Lausanne since it was past their time period for recourse. That is the honest to god truth.
Don't call me a liar Mr. You are the one that has not done the proper thing in this whole transaction. You took my money when I placed the order and that is the last I heard from you. Now I am taking this affair offline to a private discussion with you, unless you continue to refuse to respond to my emails.
So if you want to preserve any reputation, let's take this matter to private correspondence, or better yet, just refund my CHF189. and I'd be able to say so here and other forums that you did the right thing.
As I promised, I am confirming resolution of this issue. Digigasin has refunded the funds from my order plus some extra compensation. Thank you for the refund.
Still, I think this guy is not doing a good job. Wonder what happen to your $$ if you were not to make noises here.

I was actually half way through the thread when i realise this post is from 2006/2007, but i had already read most of it, so, i had to read the rest to see how it ended........... totaly as expected.

Yea, but re-runs are good too, cause you never know how they will end this time. LOL.
Actually, I feel really stupid, cause I read the whole thread and didn't even notice the dates till I read your post. What a day!

PayPal, Open-Source, Donations - "Donate to me"

I'm starting this thread because a couple of months ago PayPal erroneously suspended my PayPal account and have refused to reactivate it. This account received donations to help support and cover the cost of the free open-source software I develop and distribute. In particular Heimdall, the open-source cross platform firmware flashing suite for the Galaxy S series of phones and tablets.
Anyway PayPal suspended my account because I was receiving donations. As a result they wanted me to provide evidence that I'm a registered non-profit organisation, which I'm obviously not and have never indicated otherwise. I attempted to make this clear to them but they seem hell-bent on not actually paying attention to the information I provide them with. PayPal's staff are insistent that unless you're registered as a non-profit organisation you cannot take donations, despite the fact this is not indicated anywhere in their terms of service. According to this logic every single one of the "Donate to me" links on the XDA developers website is invalid. Unless you just so happen to be a non-profit organisation. Otherwise, PayPal may just randomly decide to shutdown whatever PayPal account you have linked to your "Donate to me" button, blocking access to any funds that may presently be stored in the account.
What is particularly frustrating is that PayPal have tried to pull this on a number of open-source developers in the past. Most notably Stefan Kueng of TortoiseSVN fame. Stefan went through this exact same debacle last year and in the end PayPal admitted fault and restored his account and his ability to take donations. I've already pointed this out to PayPal however the staff that respond to me seem to be somewhat delirious and see what they want to read, leading to pointless canned responses.
As this has the potential to affect a large portion of the XDA community, and open-source as a whole, I'm posting this here in hope that some of you will chose to voice your concerns, frustration or anger towards PayPal. I'd like as many of you as possible to send PayPal an e-mail about this.
I'm unsure which e-mail address you should use for your particular locality, however I know that in Australia you'll want to send your e-mail to [email protected]. If you're outside of Australia and would like to complain to PayPal Australia anyway, as they're the ones who suspended my account, then feel free.
Please feel free to discuss this or post your e-mails here for everyone else to see. Hopefully PayPal comes to their senses!
This is what worries me about paypal. They seem to be so trigger happy about kidnapping your funds. There should be some oversight to these ****ers if they're going to act that way.
Thanks for sharing this, honestly it's the first time I really hear about this. I will pass this to administration and other mods.
Cheers,
Off topic (sorry): Mr. Clown, god that avatar and gif is freaking me out!

Google checkout is a bit harder to use - you need to prove you are a registered charity before you can get the donate a non-fixed amount features...
Without it, you are stuck with "selling" products at varying amounts IIRC
I thought I'd let you all know I finally managed to get PayPal to restore my account. They didn't really admit fault or explain why my account was suspended, or even anything official about why they were allowing me to restore my account.
In the end I got onto the executive escalations office and they just responded with an e-mail indicating that they had changed the information I must submit. I had to provide photo ID, proof of residence and a questionnaire indicating that I'm not affiliated with any political parties. A few days later my account was restored.

Good to hear... Interesting that they don't want you affiliated with any political party (the donations criteria for them are very strict and could be a nightmare if PP allowed it).

Fairly isolated yes. I know of 2 people it's happened to. One of them took paypal successfully to court over the issue and had them "pwned" by a judge, but this was the UK...
how i can help you i live in panama, and there have alot of people developing good rom and if i donate i want to donate to the people who have develop them
last month some xda members helped me unlock my captivate so i donated to the developers (helroz and clshortfuse) and people who answered questions for me (mainly trusselo). paypal locked my account twice. yesterday i was enjoying my unlocked phone here in china so i remembered how much those guys helped and i tried to donate a small amount to just say "thanks again" and paypal froze my account again. 10 donations to date and 3 paypal account freezes. it is really frustrating when you want to say thanks with a donation but instead the person you are trying to donate to gets annoying emails from paypal. can i fix this problem? 30% of all my donations are getting flagged by paypal. paypal sucks.

Paypal is a hideous and messed up system... I don't really know if you can fix it. They work very strangely
I heard MuscleNerd (iphone jailbreaker) and his team had problem with paypal... I don't know if they managed to have their account re-enabled.
However, happy to hear your account is not blocked any more!
Paypal said they lock my account because im in china. I had already called them last month and told them i would i be in china and they said no problem. At least i got it working again. they have locked my account 30% of the time i have tried to use paypal.

Most people write the app first, then allow people to 'donate' by paying for said app. You can check out the App Monetization Forums. Closing this thread...

[BOUNTY] For Supercurio to fix SGH-T989 Screen Issues + more!!

Donations is completed and supercurio has successfully received the phone and he is currently working on the kernel drivers for the fixes so stay tuned and make sure to fallow his twitter account for more updates. Thanks to everyone that donated and supported the thread. I'm pretty sure supercurio is also thankfull to you guys.
Use this thread to discuss about the fix and also to chit chat about anything related the screen problems on our SGH-T989.
i think you missed the point
Supercurio said Samsung should send him one, not us
he didn't ask us to pitch in for a device
he asked us to contact Samsung and have Samsung send him a device.
found it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19142874&postcount=220

Note: I received a donation but when I tell "I don't have a device" the goal is not really to ask you to pay for it − especially since I have no idea if I'll get results eventually.
I firmly believe it's manufacturer's role to fix it. And the manufacturer here is Sam.. err no; it doesn't really works like that in the US. Manufacturer is T-Mobile.

I didn't not know about this sorry. I guess there is nothing wrong with the community to pitch in for a device....Samsung might not send him one. This is a heck of great community so I'm pretty sure we can all get him the device faster than Samsung.

How do we go about asking Samsung to do this? I can't just say "hey give supercurio a T989" they wouldn't even know who I'm talking about.
Someone wants to organize this?
i vote for Surfacet to lead this, since he started this topic
The thing is I never done a thread like this before. This is my first thread ever on xda. This thread got sticked? I thought it got removed or something lol.
Lets see supercurio's response. I cant send him a message since he got it disabled
-Algamer
Contacting Samsung was kinda your idea...My idea was to make it a bounty and donate to him for the cause
Social media is a great medium.
Spam Samsung John and Carla anyone? Let's do it.
I'd be willing to donate. Just look how fast the other devs got their bounties, I bet we could get him one in two weeks or less.
Swyped from my iPhone eater

Quick note: Galaxy S II audio hardware is not Voodoo Sound capable.
I work only on Super AMOLED plus, awaiting better quality audio chip in the future generations of devices (Voodoo Sound is still in development for supported devices)
Allgamer: if people want to raise funds to send me a device why not. It will always be soon enough to cancel the process if Tmo/Samsung does, and will also demonstrate users determination.
Feel free to contact Samsung reps but please avoid spamming them, it would be severely counter-productive.
As long as you are okay with that, then by all means lets turn this topic into an official [BOUNTY] for Mr. curio
WHERE DO WE DONATE?
The link in Sir Curio's signature is for donating to his Voodoo project, do we need another link for T989 screen issue only, for easier financial consolidation?
There should be another donation link but not sure if super has it or not. I'm waiting for him to give us the link to where to donate so I can put it on the OP.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
As written in the bounty guidelines, I would suggest counting first and then, later, sending the donations.
Its easier than refunding everyone if its canceled for some reason
As I cannot buy this device in France, it would be pretty nice to choose a trusty well known peer who would receive the donations, buy the phone and post it (shipping costs about $35, something like that) in my direction.
I'm listening.
I own Gigahertz Computers in Warner Robins, GA. IV never done any business in the marketplace here but I have an associate with a tmo sgs2 for $400 that is new (opened and played with but spotless and is in the box with receipt where he paid full retail from a walk-in tmo store 2 weeks ago. I have a PayPal account and would be more than happy to take on the responsibility of taking the donations and getting SC the device. I have an eBay account with 44 recent transactions (mostly phones) that is spotless everybody can checkout. Mountdenizen is the screen name. My business is a Mac / mobile device service and support shop and the eBay transactions have been done because of it. Allgamer, I'm not real sure how this all works but IV seen the thread for awhile now and have seen people talking about starting a pot for the device... just thought we may need to take the bull by the horns here. I in no way feel special or entitled to do this, just willing. I'm listening as well. My email is [email protected] and that's also my PayPal account. I'm on here on and off all day (kind of Android obsessed here) so you can contact me anytime. I do think we need to keep everything public and in the forums to keep all parties involved as transparent as possible. Off to bed, ill check back in the A.M.

SOPA/PIPA put on hold

Hi
I made a video of XDA Portal when it was in the black out. This video shows constant refreshes, updating the number count on the petition.
The rate went from about 22.7 to 30 signatures per second.

Me too, I watched it from the beginning.
Kudos to the moderators for taking a stand against SOPA and PIPA.
Very nice!!
A little less than 5 hours to get 50,000 "signatures", great work.
Lets hope this makes a difference.
Here's the letter I sent to my senators and representatives, written from the POV of my son. Anyone can feel free to adapt it to their own needs and send it to their representatives. I just wanted to do more than attach my name to a pre-made message which which could easily be dismiss after receiving countless identical messages...

Called my Rep and my Senators
I may not have signed the petition, but I called my House Representative and both of my Senators to let them how I feel about SOPA & PIPA.
I called rather than sent an email because talking to them lets them know we DON'T want these pieces of garbage passed. It's harder to ignore a phone call than an email.
This was the best idea to promote awareness
AWESOME JOB XDA!!!
I wish more web sites would have handled it the same way!!
I am proud to be a member of this Forum.
Thank You!!
Out of an initial 39 who were supporting the act, four have seen the light so far and have gone against it.
Seeing the blackout of 10,000+ websites the rest will surely oppose SOPA as well.

I absolutely hope you're right.
don't get me wrong, i'm not a pro "stupid law against internet"
but was this really necessary ?
a lot of visitor are from outside the USA
so even if we sign (i did it) the petition, the lawmans from the US will only think : what does this stupid french guy bother us..
also, even if politics get petitions from the internet... as long as people don't move on the real life, it will only be hopeless...
in france we had also some stupid laws, a lot of people said : we'll go to Paris and say our disagreement with us
finaly, there were only a few people in Paris, so they vote the ugly law ....
briging down XDA to say : we are against it and we'll only come back after 50k people signed the petition, is imo not very usefull
and by doing so you also force people to sign (were is the free will ?)
imagine the poor guy wo did a wrong manipulation on his device and he comes on xda to find help... he will comite suicide
a notice would have been beter, because the usefull informations are accessible
and you know politics are dumbasses... if they saw some actions like XDA they will say : 10 people does some action on internet to force other to sign it.. so the petition will be even more worthless into their eyes
i'm never against signing petitions, even against US laws, but here i found this a little too much
and don't forget, a lot of people from other countries come here, they have not the same mind as you...
some will say : yeah they are right i will sign it and refer this petition
other will say : what the **** ? i'm not interested in this **** put it back
and other will say : yeah but was it really needed to go that far?
The thing is that the future of XDA and numerous other websites which operate from the USA are at stake.
Logging on to XDA and finding the petition page (which you had been notified about prior to the black out) is better than logging on and finding that the website has been taken down because of a stupid copyright.
XDA folk can not just let it happen. Everyone needs to do their part. This way was the most effective, and I don't think that 4.5 hours of downtime effected development significantly, but it did show us the way (notice I am not using 'force') to fighting the SOPA petition.
It was your choice. If you wanted to see XDA back, you signed the petition. If you wanted the internet to stay the same you signed the petition.
A French person signing shows that SOPA is disliked worldwide, and the effects it will have (if implemented) on the world, and not just the USA.
+1 to that! Everyone should do there part, the domino effect of those two laws would be devastating! Well done all who signed!
sent from my android powered, cyanogenmod filled wrecking machine! using xda app.
That was awesome. It's amazing how quickly this site got that many people involved. Thanks to all the admins, mods, devs, and users who spread the word.
I wish i could be a part of the blackout signature....
I really wished to be a part of the signatures...but I am not a us citizen I am a Bangladeshi.....but i was eagerly checking the status every other time i could...really i am proud of you all for make this happened...cheers to xda developers and all the supporters..proud to be with XDA family..
To all American* viewers of this page, I would highly recommend CALLING your Congress critters and letting them know WHY you don't want this crap.

If you truly want this to be your flagship phone that turns the companys smartphone sales around, you better unlock the bootloader.
Ive already seen hundreds of people turn down this awesome phone because of the locked bootloader. you are severly limiting your audiance. I think this decision is a very bad one.
No on is interested in you guys limiting what we can or cant do with our property and or waiting for you to roll out updates. especially when we could just do it ourself.
From what i can tell, you have nothing to gain by having a locked bootloader. the only thing it does is make us wait for updates, ie newer versions of android software. which might i remind you is has been out for sometime. why should we have to wait for yall to make it an update?
Unlocking the bootloader also would relive some of the mass emails im sure you get about "when the next update is comming out"
Please, Please concider this. it would truly make the optimus g a great phone
I doubt that LG cares about a small, handful of people that want to unlock the phone. But don't worry, the bootloader will be unlocked *very* soon thanks to the devs
I think the first step would be making sure your email at least sounds professional...all those typos notwithstanding (which look awful btw), the email comes off as a rant from an angry, uneducated customer.
They won't budge if their complaint emails all sound like yours, no offense.

@squshy - none taken....yeah...i probably should have spell checked it, lol
despite how my email or others may sound, they really only have two choices. either unlock the bootloader or get their software hacked.
either is fine with me.

Not sure on that one. on one hand asking nicely may help .....or get totally disregarded. on the other hand if they get a bunch of angry customers asking to unlock it, they probably will.
Ive seen things like this go one way or the other very easily.
However as mentioned, the devs will have this worked out soon enough
