Bit of a crosspost, hope you all don't mind...
I'm trying to upgrade to the newest version of a ROM but i'm getting a little stuck. Everytime I try enter fastbootd I just have a Waiting for Device message on my laptop. ADB and bootloader/normal fastboot both work fine and I can send commands in those modes but I need fastbootd to do the upgrade.
Do i need upgraded drivers to be able to connect using fastbootd at all?
I downloaded my OnePlus USB driver from the following website:
https://www.getdroidtips.com/download-oneplus-usb-drivers/
OnePlus_USB_Drivers_Setup.exe
Installed it on my computer (using windows 10)
after powering down my phone, I entered normal fastboot (power + vol up + vol down; let go of just power after vibration)
from fastboot mode, I entered the following command on cmd
fastboot reboot fastboot
...output...
fastboot reboot fastboot
Rebooting into fastboot OKAY [ 0.000s]
< waiting for any device >
Finished. Total time: 8.398s
I guess this is where it hangs for you. Perhaps updated USB driver may help.
After "Finished. Total Time..." Phone reboots into FastbootD. OnePlus Logo in white in the middle, below are 3 language options (2 in Chinese, one in English). This is FastbootD
to make sure everything is working properly... the following to test
fastboot getvar all
I'm sure you know all this, just making sure...

Ahhh, interesting. That select language screen is what I used to see when I entered fastbootd but now I see like a cut down version of the stock recovery screen with the same details as the normal fastboot screen that says fastbootd at the top. I can't take a pic to show you as this is my only device...does that make sense?
I think so. What you're describing is what I was expecting to see because that's what I saw in a couple of articles. Something like what is seen in the picture of this article:
https://www.the***********.com/psa-...de-option-possibly-a-dedicated-fastboot-mode/
Is this what you see?
As it turns out, for the OnePlus 7T the screen that I described is fastbootD which is confusing as there is nothing to indicate that it is in fastbootD mode. However I read a post in this OnePlus 7T forum describing what I described for you as the fastbootD screen.
Are you not using a OnePlus 7T? This may explain why you're seeing something different.
I have problem that when in fastbootd (Chinese/English screen) I can't send commands with fastboot. Only normal bootloader allows sending fastboot commands, even though I've installed OnePlus_USB_Drivers_Setup.exe ... Any ideas?
for "fastboot waiting for devices" problem check solution here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...owing-up-in-fastboot-mode-windows-10.4194491/

I ran into this issue today. When stuck on the page in fastbootd where you see language selection, Go to your PC device manager, selected the INXXXX with a yellow triangle and manually set the driver. After that is done, the script will auto continue and all will be well.

These files are from Motorola's Development site and I take no liability with anything that happens with your device if something goes wrong.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FLASH THIS FILE ON ANYTHING BUT THE VERIZON WIRELESS MOTOROLA XOOM Z600 (3G MODEL) OR YOU WILL HAVE A SHINEY PAPER WEIGHT!!!!

You're going to need to have the Android SDK installed. You can download it here:
ANDROID SDK - DOWNLOAD
XOOM Firmware Downloads:
[3G|MZ600-HRI66]
[4G|MZ602-HLK75D]
Unzip the files in MZ600_HRI66.zip and move or copy them to the /platform-tools folder in your SDK folder.
Connect your Xoom to your computer. Type:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Wait for it to reboot into the bootloader.
Type the following commands, waiting for each to finish before continuing:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot erase cache
You've now successfully flashed your Xoom back to stock. Now it's time to relock the device. Type
Code:
fastboot oem lock
wait for the menu
then press the volume-down button.
Then press the volume up button.
It'll take a minute or so, then reboot. You're now completely back to stock and ready for the update.
So if you are on Three . One you can use this to revert back to out of the box freshness?

So the HRI66 is the latest version on the Motorola site? I really need to get a grasp of their version numbers.
EDIT:
Never mind looks like HRI66 is the latest version Thanks anyway.
i was thinking that with the change to the bootloader in the 3.1 update we couldn't use previous versions img's. But I am glad we can return to stock and get this 4G update!
I'm following all those steps directly. Once I type in adb reboot bootloader, it says starting Fastboot protocol support. Once I try to type any other command it says not recognized in adb. Any ideas?

Did you extract all of the files in the ZIP into the 'tools' folder? The same one that adb is in.
Could someone help me,

This is what I was afraid of..... try searching the error you are getting. Not many options on how to fix.
i am curious about the LNX 0x0004 error. I know it comes from trying to relock with non-factory img's but what exactly does that mean? I am curious what actually causes the device to soft brick.
Finally I made it, .
I can enter to bootloader by fastboot method, flash the stock image, then relock my device.
Kinda having the same issue as dchurch... "adb reboot bootloader" reboots Xoom to the "M" logo with "Starting Fastboot protocol support," but I can't continue with nay further commands. My computer no longer recognizes the presence of my Xoom and my Xoom doesn't progress past this screen. I can boot it normally with no problem. I've extracted all of the necessary files into my platform tools folder with adb.. any input?

You can try manually going into fastboot as well... there are two ways to do this:
No matter what, power off the Xoom. Then, 1) Power on the Xoom and as soon as you see it turn on (within a second or two of the power on), press the Volume Down button, which kicks it into Fastboot. 2) If you miss the 1st couple of seconds and press Volume Down after 3-5 seconds, it will say "Android Recovery." You can then press Volume Down until you get to Fastboot, then press Volume Up.
My guess is that you have a different issue, something to do with your Fastboot image. Not sure if booting the Xoom into the OS and connecting with USB Debugging on will work or not to flash the files, perhaps maybe just the boot.img?
I also believe that when the Xoom says "Starting Fastboot protocol support", it is in fastboot mode and you can send the fastboot commands to the Xoom. If your PC does not show the Xoom as a device in your PC's Device manager, then you will probably need to load new/correct drivers onto your PC.
Did you make sure that adb recognized your device? Adb devices in the camaned prompt
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
Stock watch, never turned on debugging. Have tried to do the steps in Skin1980 post (return to stock... load boot, recovery and system (got the error on System). Tried the ADB steps (but noob on ADB with no luck). Am I toast? Attached are screen shot showing fastboot recognizes devices. Also here is device screenshot. Any help would be appreciated... Love this watch but for now it's a paperweight.
Also when I try and write .img files (boot, recovery, system) I get the FAILED (remote: device locked).. I am in fast boot screen on watch.
Can u see the device if it is connected n u enter 'adb devices' in the command prompt?
If not then have to confirm does your driver install correctly.
The device must be connected to PC before you can do anything to it. My understanding.
In fastboot screen on your watch doesnt mean it is connected to PC.
You have to unlock bootloader to be able to use fastboot flash.
While in bootloader, use "fastboot oem unlock" command.
Note, that this automatically wipes all user data on the watch.
What is the error you are getting on System?
A lot of people are reporting errors but in reality they are not.
Can you screenshot the error like you did the fastboot command?
Any progress so far???
It has been a while; have you succeeded to recover the Huawei watch pass the Google animation?
I have read no thread who has solved the problem. Any feedback is appriciated.
Update: After so many days I managed to flash... My watch is working again; still no news from Huawei!!!
For newbies like I am, you have to know is you don't need to enable anything before you are stuck to google logos.
I just downloaded "adb-setup-1.4.3" and "Minimal ADB and Fastboot". Whenever the windows didn't recognize the watch I ran adb-setup which at the end asks for installing drivers and when I disconnect and connect the device, it worked.
After getting connected check if the watch is getting fastboot command by c:\fastboot devices. If you can see any letters and fastboot at the right you're ok to go.
You need to c:\Fastboot Oem Unlock which unlocks the watch and you're out of warranty. Just accept it.
Then follow the steps of skin1980 (thanks it was really great)) http://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-watch/general/guide-return-to-stock-huawei-watch-t3219596
If you need "twrp" not written; just "swipe right" and follow the instructions of skin1980.
Boot Stuck Problem is over.
The watch is getting the updates right now but I guess I'll learn more and get to stock by the experts' help...
Thanks to you all...
hi
i managed to get mine working as well ! (Thanks to abhanli, pkt_lnt and skin180)
make sure you are in fastboot menu on your watch (holding the power button till switches off and the pressing again after vibrates)
most important thing next is to press shift and right click anywhere in the adb folder on your computer, and then run command prompt from there, otherwise adb will not load up and you will think that you have just run a dodgy script !
unlock your bootloader (typing "Fastboot Oem Unlock" in the command prompt in adb folder)
then you can use steps of skin180 (link above)
OR
https://developer.android.com/wear/preview/downloads.html
scroll down to huawei watch and choose second download option (non preview image for after testing) (thanks pkt_lnt)
extract into your adb folder (located in c:\)
then using the command prompt in adb folder, navigate to that extracted folder (using dos commands)
then if you are on windows, type "flash-all.bat"
hey presto - will work !
when it reboots, you may think "darn it still has spinning dots !" but if you wait about 5-10 mins it progresses past that stage and comes up with welcome screen !
My watch is working again !
HUAWEI customer services are a pile of POO. Their repair centre in UK is waste of time. They never answer the phone and never reply to messages.
If the Huawei watch wasnt so beautiful, i'd never bother with them !
Good luck and thanks all.

my device came with unlocked bootloader, so I tried to flash twrp but every time i type "fastboot flash recovery C:\adb\twrp-3.2.1-3-whyred.img" and hit enter, the device seems to disconnect from pc and there is "press any key to reboot" in fastboot on my phone.
How can I solve this issue?`
Phone gets detected by adb/fastboot tool so its not a driver problem. I tried different cables and usb ports aswell.
Firmware is latest global stable.

Well if you already had adb in your pc, rename the twrp file to recovery, you don't have to move the twrp from download folder, open download folder press shift and right click then select open cmd here, on cmd type "adb device" to see if your device connected, then after that type this "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" press enter than after that type "fastboot boot recovery.img" TEAMWIN logo should appear on your device and then you can unplug your device. Hope this useful
i am trying to flash twrp there is no folder called adb i have installed the 15 second adb and all so i have got this minimal adb flashboot and i tried with that and got this ---- FAILED (remote: Flashing is not allowed in Lock State). i have granted all usb and oem unlocking. please help with this
Phone shows unlocked during the boot?
I had the same Problem, after a Factory Reset works for me.
I am on Miglobe-Rom Miui10 8.6.28.
Minimal ADB is enough.
Or use this from Attachment.
Unpack with Win.zip and copy Twrp in this Folder.
Conect the Phone with your Pc ,boot into Bootloader and click "cmd-here.exe"
Use this Command
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.1-3-whyred.img
@Nazukii - Quick question - any chance you could try running GameBench on your device, and see if our background service dies when the device is disconnected from the PC? I don't have a Note 5 Pro to test, and I've got some user complaints. Any assistance would be awesome!

If you have made sure that you have all the drivers installed and still have not solved, you need to use an Intel-based PC / notebook and use a usb 2.0.

What you are trying to do? Just switch from Chinese to Global? or your device is bricked now?
What did happen after that you flashed the Chinese recovery ROM?
What modes do you have available?
Did you unlock bootloader previously?

Fastboot flashing commands won't work if you have bootloader locked.
Did you unlock bootloader previously and probably get locked again?
Did you enable all the proper options on Developer section, i.e. USB debugging and check if device is recogniced on adb commands?
What do you get with "fastboot getvar all"?

I think you are not properly booted to the proper state while you're trying certain commands. Just to be clear; adb works while your device is power on and fastboot commands will work only while your device is in fastboot mode not while on adb mode. A way to be sure that you are doing properly is enabling USB debugging first but while connected device with PC, a prompt will appear from device screen and then tap on "always allow", then you have to type "adb devices" and follow step by step, if device is recognized you can go to the next step with "adb reboot bootloader" then in fastboot you have to see the bunny otherwise is not properly in fastboot mode, then you can follow with "fastboot devices" and so on, keep in mind that any command will work until device is properly recognized.

Just trying to determine what your words exactly mean when you say "after in fastboot mode it doesn't boot in adb mode." ... without entering in more technical insights adb works when device is on, no sense to boot to fastboot to try to boot to adb after that (?)
If you can boot to fastboot what you have to try firstly is unlock bootloader or be sure that is already unlocked using
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
if your device is or get unlocked then you can try to flash or just boot to a custom recovery but if you can't determine until now if your device is really unlocked then you couldn't go further.
The hardware method to enter to fastboot is from a device off; pressing both pwr and vol down buttons but if the bunny is not displayed probably you didn't really get fastboot mode.

TWRP can't bypass encryption, when you have no access to read data (0mb) then you have to format it, to avoid that is always recommended use OrangeFox, just for future reference, if you understand that you can flash OrangeFox through TWRP for better experience.
Also you can use this tool to help you to automate some stuff https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools
I restarted my phone after being prompted to by a recent update. For a while the phone was stuck in a loop of booting to the android screen followed by the magenta tmobile screen before starting the process again over the course of 5 min.
Now the phone only boots into the recovery mode menu(?). The black screen with the oneplus logo that prompts you to pick a language before giving you the options of "view boot reason", "wipe data and cache", "advanced", and "exit" on the next screen.
View boot reason just says init_user0 failed.
I have wiped the cache and restarted, still boots into the recovery menu regardless.
I can boot into fastboot, but I do not have the bootloader unlocked. With the bootloader locked that means I cannot boot twrp recovery image from what I understand? And then unlocking the bootloader wipes the data.
I have managed to boot into EDL mode as well and the phone will show up as connected in the MSMDownload tool.
ADB does not work as far as I know since my phone no longer boots into android. (It displays the qualcomm snapdragon logo briefly before showing the aforementioned recovery menu).
Is there anything I can do recover my data given the above information? I have reached out to oneplus support as well and they said they'd get a more specialized person to reply to my case in 6-7 hours. Thanks for any help.

Correct.
Also from what I understand, you cannot 'pull' files from internal storage from Fastboot mode, contrary to ADB mode (unless I am wrong).
Maybe you could try switching 'Active Slots' in Fastboot mode? With a little luck the other slot may still be bootable. It is not clear if this command will be permitted with stock ROM. You can do a little research but the fastboot commands should be:
fastboot getvar current-slot
fastboot set_active a (or b depending)
fastboot reboot

Thanks for the info. I gave that a shot after and unfortunately it said Slot change is not allowed in lock state. Oneplus support did get back to me and said I'd have to send the phone in for repair. They said the device data is likely lost though so I'm not sure if it's worth sending it in vs just wiping and all that myself.
