Current security patch?

Hi,
New here and loving my 8 Pro
I was wondering what Android security patch do you guys/girls currently have? Mine (EU version) is 5th of April, anyone got a newer one?

The April security patch is still being deployed. My phone got it less than 2 weeks ago. I think that Google has a quarterly cycle so I don't think there is anything more recent than the April level (but I might be wrong)... in any case I don't expect Huawei to roll out another SW update yet while the current rollout isn't finished.

Actually Google releases patches update every month. OEMs are just lazy to give the monthly updates to users.

Uhmm no. Security patches have nothing to do with the UI. They are just "patches". Once Google uploads a new one, they can just patch the framework and necessary stuff, then roll it out with a small OTA.

i quite dont get it yet,
if it was that easy, why would brands take such a risk of getting a bad reputation for not providing security patches?

I don't know. That's the way they think. Look at the Nexus line. They always receive monthly updates because it's coming directly from Google.

Like I said, security patches are just patches. It has nothing to do with the flavor of Android.

not really true. recall reading an article that briefly explained the process, even security patch takes time for manufacturers to update -- need to go thru chipset manufacturer, and then to phone manufacturer and carriers... what i understand, not that much difference from the regular updates.
which is why Google is trying to make things easier in Nougat.

So, I'm guessing all 8 Pros are on april patch, at leastwe got it faster then the regular 8.

actually we are behind the regular h8.
but from what i see duk-al20 (alias the honor v9, not the 9) is already on june, if not even july ^^ (B180 i think)
only european variant left out ..

but , things are gonna change, biggest problem in android is reaching of the updates to devices, project treble:fingers-crossed:

Any region on newer security patch then 5th April? Even my 1 1/2 year old 120 euro Asus tablet has got this update, would think Honor would pay more attention to it's flagship phone.

The xiaomi mi a2 lite / mi a2 released in 2018 - and the AndroidOne phones will get Android update for tow years any know about Android 10? It's need to be released other Android one phones have the last Android one 10 update

Well... I don't think we gonna get it in December so maybe January. Meanwhile Huawei, Nokia, Samsung already started to roll out the Android 10 updates we have to wait. Seems like at xiaomi's miui is higher priority then Android one.

I would rather wait for them to test and fix bugs fully before releasing it. I don't want them to release it when it's not ready.. just wait

True mate ! Xiaomi ****ed the Android One project. Im totally disapointed ([email protected]!).

will they fffing fix the wifi/bluetooth problem finally with the Q update? I wouldn't be holding my breadth.....

Some people claim it's fixed in December update (hoping it also indicates that they are cleaning things up and fixing driver issues for Q update)

possibly it's a bit better but it's definitely not fixed.
wifi & bluetooth on - wifi speed is 1/3 of the speed with only wifi on

According to another nameless Xiaomi representative, we should be getting Android 10 together with the January update:

Employees in Xiaomi support suck a**. They don't know the slightest thing they're talking about. Last time I asked them when we were gonna get the Android 10 update they told me "very soon", "we're working on it" etc. All evasive responses. Some other dude asked Xiaomi support and they told him we'd get it two weeks after he asked which was about 1,5 months ago. So, don't trust Xiaomi support, they don't know what they're saying/doing. But I believe in January we'll get the update, a really crappy one. Just like how it was with Android Pie, full of bugs and missing features. LOL :laugh:

Or you know, support robots, canned messages that promises Android 10 etc., yet nothing happened, just to ignore lots of peoples' queries, but instead, meaningless blurbs by Xiaomeme. No surprises here.
Anyway, custom ROM scenes did better job at this than Xiaomeme. Glad I don't go wait with their 'bUg FiXeS aNd ImPrOvEmEnTs' updates.

I agree that the Custom ROMs are very stable right now, but I can't trust them. That's the reason I'm still using stock ROM with locked BL in 2019 haha. I wish Xiaomi cared more for their Android One devices, but it seems they only wanted hop on another trend real quick and they are technically not giving a sh*t at all. When I first bought this phone, I expected all Android One devices to run the same OS, but somehow Nokia Android One devices get better, faster and more polished updates. I wish I had gotten the Nokia 7.1 when I had the chance. Shame.

I've last June patch on Android 10
It's still buggy I'm wondering if xiaomi will bring this device in to a stable version or not
Otherwise I'll downgrade to pie
Any rumors on further updates?

Yes, you'll get another year of Google Security updates as due to Google Policy. Didn't you read the little pamphlet that came with your phone? 2 year software updates aka. 2 major android versions and 3 years of security updates.
This months was an extremely slow month for almost everything, even Windows update was late (they also have monthly security updates). Mi A2 launched it's July update 1 day ago, so we're most likely going to get that next week, but don't worry, it's not going to be August Update, it's still going to be July update... and that's just a speculation based on what happened until now. Same thing happened in April, march passed with no security update and bugfixes, and the "fixed" (or should I call it at list not bricking phones) version launched in early April (3-4 if I'm not wrong).
So yeah, don't worry, you'll get updates until next summer, just remember, it took them a lot of months to make 9 stable too, and I'm not saying that as an excuse for their update delivery, I'm just saying that this happened (not as worse) back in A9 era too.

Sorry to somewhat disappoint but I don't want to raise your hopes too much. There will be things that will be missing from this software like AptX, or like exFAT support and so on. Remember, the SD card issues that Pie had were only resolved when A10 came out... It won't be a perfect device at the end of it's life cycle but at least we can hope it'll work fine... They actually fixed some problems in the updates they gave us until now, but it's far from being a well polished system. All we can do is keep out hopes up, and hope that they took their time to actually fix the errors reported in the forums (xiaomi forum, where a mod says he reports user bugs himself).

Question Where is the March update?

First Monday of the month is typically when the updates hit, isn't it?

Also, it should be Feature Drop time. But no mention of it anywhere. Maybe just small update to come or there will be one next Monday?

They confirmed it's delayed again

Delayed, plus the "feature drop" consists of some mediocre Snapchat stuff, an oversized battery widget and a couple stickers. The Pixel 6 turns into a disappointment. Non-existent feature drops, massive bugs, delayed updates... not a good track record.

Bipolar chat in the forums.. 13 Dev 2 comes out Thursday. I would think it will be out by the 15th or so latest.

Google really is starting to disappoint me with this phone. Bugs in connectivity, late updates you name it ... Expensive phone too.
Put me off Google I must admit I am starting to regret buying this phone.

I'm starting to regret it too, but we don't have many other options. Chinese phones that I refuse to buy, or Samsung phones that throttle apps. Right now they are all bad.

Before use OnePlus 7pro and and was exactly same
When updating not on time.

There's no other phone worth considering. OnePlus is dead and Samsung has too much bloat and baggage.
I'm sticking with Pixels because at least I know my monthly updates will improve firmware, not just bump security patch level. And they will come every month. I don't worry too much about the delays, but it's a bad look.

Every day another reason to regret getting a 6 Pro. WTF was I thinking?

The update rolls out at different times per region doesn't it? That's something to take into account. There could be technical issues of some sort that's causing any sort of delay too.
Just have some patience yall it'll come soon enough

The pixel 6 Update is officially delayed by Google. They say later this month. Meaning it has nothing to do with a technical delay for a couple hours.

I would rather have a late update that's secure and stable than a bug fest with open back doors.

If 12L is delayed that means 13DP2 will not be available for p6 series as well.

Hi gang, long time, no chat! Amazing what happens when Google finally gets their act together with the P6Ps, isn't it?
The last I heard @ 9to5google.com is that it was late. Nothing beyond that, though. Thank you!

Well, Pixel updates were always released on Mondays. So maybe next Monday? Or even a Monday after that.

March Update postponed indefinitely

Google are getting so slow for updates and they barely have any phones lol, whilst Samsung have pushed out 2 massive updates by the time Google has pushed out 1, I also find it strange that pixels software are the bare minimum and have worse battery life

I don't think anyone really knows when it will be released. Interestingly, the A14 DP2 build that was released yesterday had the March security update in it.

I count 15 updates and one major version upgrade since the initial release of the P6P since October 2021

I've found that Google's updates have drastically improved battery life for my P6P, but it still doesn't compare to the battery life I used to have with my LG several years ago. And I think we all can remember how bad LG was, with releasing updates. I just thought that perhaps I missed some insider news for the delay, and you are so wonderful with these phones.

All pixel phones have march update ota by now, just not pixel 6
Google really starts to look like fools, when samsung starts to be faster with android updates than google, and delays

Would you rather a fast update or one riddled with phone killing bugs?it's not like they sat down one day and said "i know let's make users mad and not release an update".

Google are doing fine with slow updates with lots of bugs, just look at the pixel 6 and 7 update history, software/hardware bugs are all over the place.

7 Pro update went online today. I guess ours will come soon then.

My bad, if I switch the language of the webpage to German, the march updates are gone

Google said the March P6 fam update has been delayed til the 20th because they're adding 5G connectivity and having issues with India's configuration so to speak.
