N976B - 420-rom INCOMING!! - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi all
I have been working hard this week learning the ropes on various tools to bring together a ROM for us N976B users - i may down the line add support for others only of this turns out to be any good at all :laugh::laugh:
420rom_0.1 is now going to be uploaded if anyone wants to test.
Please bear in mind that things will be added as and when my learning and time permits (being a dad of two kids and having adhd myself means things get a lil gnarly) but i will aim to support this ROM as regularly as possible.
I started this week not knowing much about the cooking side if things but i learn quick lol. @dr.ketan - you are the best - thanks so much for showing me the ropes!
People - please let me know here if you want to test before i make a thread up! i will send a link via pm when uploaded (i'm on a sh###y asdl line though so bear with me)
initial changelog
Nemesis kernel included (thanks @geiti94)
Rooted with Magisk
Zipaligned framework apps
removed DM_Verity
removed Force_encrypt
removed knox
debloated basic crap
It is a rooted stock experience as of now however As said above i will be adding more as and when i learn - to come......
Aroma installer
CSC Tweaks
Support for more CSCs - this is based on XEU firmware so will work with associated CSCs only on this rom version
Any (simple to start with) suggestions welcome!

It's the little things. I had to reflash stock and reroot a couple hours ago, so this could've saved me a decent amount of time. Could've just flashed it right over the stock problems I was having.

Sold my note 3 and decided to try out the G3, using the Tmobile variant here in Canada and working great! All bands supported with LTE. Definitely need to get used to this phone as in my eyes I'm seeing quite the lag and hoping maybe this stock rooted will help. Thank you
What's the easiest way to reboot into recovery using Stock Rom? Anyone...... Also what's the difference between this rom and the backup that I made when I first rooted?

You did some good work on that rom for the S4, it was definitely one of the better stock roms imo. I hope putting a rom together for the G3 goes smoothly.

SkyHigh kernel support for S6EdgePlus Sprint ?

You may have heard of my SkyHigh kernels for N920* and G928* & G928T Exynos7420 variants. Are there any users here that would like to contribute to your cause?
I do not have your variant, I have a N920C, so not all things are tested and need decent user (constructive) feedback for some things.
Let me know if you wish such a full featured Synapse kernel. As I have already cut back on my support to other variant, this offer won't stand very long. .
By showing support, I will require the boot.img extracted from G928PVPS2AOK3.
Also, what is your directory?
Code:
/sys/devices/battery.5[COLOR="Red"]2[/COLOR]/_____
/sys/devices/battery.5[COLOR="Red"]3[/COLOR]/_____
/sys/devices/battery.5[COLOR="Red"]4[/COLOR]/_____
I will also judge reaction to this post, so if there are only a handful, I won't bother.
Cheers,
UITA
Would love any support for our almost abandoned device. I do not have OK3 on my phone. I'm on OI6. Let me know if you would like boot.img from my version.

this is not an odin file. it is a rom flashable in twrp. if you want complete stock rom odin the tar.md5 file. it is exactly the same with exception to what i have mentioned in OP. again this rom is not for the everyday user. it can be used for that if you wish. but in all truthfulness it is meant to be used by rom developers. it is nothing more then a base to start from in creating a custom rom of your own to keep for yourself or share with the community.
Dude your a beast we appreciate everything you do for us on this phone, xda would be an even better place if more people like you were on each device on XDA.

Yesterday I flashed stock EPG2. One thing I noticed: Bluetooth was an option for tethering! Yay.
Then I went through a round of debloating -- probably too aggressively, as I started experiencing major lag and reboots. So today I wiped partitions and then flashed this devbase. The devbase actually sounds attractive: very close to stock except already rooted and no KNOX.
But there's no Bluetooth in the options for tethering now, just USB. Any thoughts as to why?
@OvrDriVE, please consider releasing the same (rooted/deodexed/stock/knox free) for the 915T -- build PG2:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/84528/N915TUVS2DPG2_N915TTMB2DPG2_TMB/
I can upload the stock image to androidfilehost if it will help.

I know this is a dev base, but whatever you removed or tweaked is great. All I had to do was remove the two stuff and some stray Sammy stuff I never use. It is more snappy than stock and doesn't lag on texting and such like it was. Thanks.
Hi guys, i installed stock pg2 in my phone, but in languages have only 7 languages, somebody know how i can install more languages? I try morelocale2, and other to try portuguese brazil, but, translate partial only... Thanks!
what's the difference between dev base vs regular? As a normal user could I use this?

Whats this?!? A Canadian developer for us canucks?! Welcome man! This is exciting and it looks awesome! Nice to see it themed. Whoever at samsung thought the aqua or whatever colour in the notification shade looked good on stock TW should be fired
Just got through reading and checking the pics, can't wait to get home and try this out! Looks and sounds like exactly what I am looking for but can't decide stock or ultimate lol. Likely Ultimate though to play around with that and go from there.
Thanks for putting this up! So happy to see a Canadian Note 4 rom!

if you flash the kernel and check kernel version in system settings it will still say taimen. I will change this in the next release. It´s purely cosmetic.

Are you going to add a flashable zip method in the near future? TWRP beta 1 is able to flash zips now, so I'm just wondering if you will be updating to zips.

hey guys and girls,
little update for the kernel
Changelog:
- upstreamed to 4.4.102
- built touchscreen and battery drivers in the kernel instead of a module
- for other little changes see my github
use the instructions in the op please
Download: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620769022
or following the link in the op to the correction version
Have fun, enjoy the kernel and your phone.
Donations are not mandatory but very welcome.

It still says "taimen" in the kernel signature, I assume this is fine?
Thanks for the kernel!

@Freak07 glad to see you here! I'll be getting my Pixel 2 in a day or two
Will you be bringing EAS1.4 to the P2?

Can anybody give some real-life review? Is it sensibly better than the stock?

I get great standby time on this kernel, and it feels super snappy

But the stock ROM is also quite battery friendly and smooth…

Everyone's phone usage is different, so YMMV, that being said I only drained 2% standby overnight (8 hours) using this kernel, where on stock I would typically drain 4-5%. I also feel like apps load a little bit faster thanks to the slight OC. Slight but noticable IMO. Once again, YMMV.

I don’t know, but I think not. The kernel is built on the sources for 8.0.
you can always flash the kernel via fastboot and just restore the stock boot.img via fastboot from the dev preview zip in case it isn’t booting. And report back
