[ROM] *Unofficial* 4.2.2 CarbonDev Rom from source using gcc 4.7

Well after much internal thought I decided to release a CarbonDev rom with Houcha kernel I built from source.
I used Haze028's guide along with great help from chadouming for device/vendor/houcha kernel work.
I have tried upgrading the kernel using the releases in the houcha kernel thread, that works to keep up to date on kernel changes.
Its built and tweaked for Canadian E971-E973 so thats all I can confirm working.
Its very stock except I chose to use Novalauncher as this is my own launcher of choice.
I baked in AwesomeBeats (credits to pimp my rom) for some quality sound as using dspmanager wasn't working for me at all.
As far as I know, everything is working, I tested all main functions as best I can but I'm sure someone will find something that's not working.
If you do, let me know about it here and I'll try to fix it.

P.S If you're running CM10.1 or Houstonns AOKP/CM/PA, you can install this without KDZ'ing, just wipe data/factory reset/dalvik and install.
Otherwise you will likely have to KDZ to the first Freegee able kdz.

Some highlights I didn't mention:
Automatic Zip aligning
Using houcha built in opensourced mpdecision and thermald (binaries for these two are fully removed from filesystem).
<update> ONLY ICS modem working, modem files I had were both ICS. </update>
I setup a "tweaks" (look for "kerneltweaks" file in /system/etc/init.d) file for colour settings and for setting your own governor and io scheduler at boot (I don't like using the Performance Control gui for setting at boot, I use it just to monitor settings).
Colour settings are active but the governor and io are remmed out. The governor io scheduler settings that are remmed out are what I use.

For manual fix, put this file in /system/lib/soundfx (replacing existing file) to fix Hangout video call crash. V2 fixed rom uploaded.

Is there anything special to do when flashing? Is it necessary to kdz back to a particular version before? Right now I'm on OTA Telus JB (rooted and freegee'd of course !)

Good question and the answer is yes you shouldn't be on OTA jb as far as I know.
Should have the same requisites as CM10.1/AOKP which was (for Rogers) the D version KDZ.
So if you're running CM10.1 or Houstonns AOKP, you can install this straight up.

So anyone have any feedback for me!?

I am running it on an AT&T e970, and everything is working perfectly. Looking forward to a resync and update. There are some minor settings commits on carbons github that have been updated since you released. I have not run into any issues. Everything is working perfectly fine. Thanks for the great rom.

No rush man. Everything's working fine. There haven't been any major updates. I can wait and I'm sure others can too.

I'll update the first post when I have a new build.
Just like to hear from anyone else running this to see if there are any other problems that people have found!

Do it! I can almost guarantee you'll love this rom!
And then after you flash it, try it out for a couple days and report back!

Just clean wipe factory reset. You should be good to go

Sprint Testers for rom 4.3 aosp

I most likely won't continue support since i'm a canadian g2 person. but i'd like to kick it off for someone that wants to continue..

This has worked wonderfully for me,
i find that it wont connect to data untill i go into the dialer and enter *#*#DATA#*#* once
so far no bugs that i can tell.......:fingers-crossed:
will report after i take it for a spin.
and do you mind if i post a link for this rom in the Sprint LG G2 Dev section? or maybe have the Mods move it to the right section?
ill se if i can put a request for this thread to be moved, this is great work.
i'm not a dev but i can post a tutorial on how to get it working of the Sprint G2 if you would like

Im eager to try this out by the way does it have rotation issues after trying cm10.2 i have rotation issues

Issues found
Okay been running this for about a week now and this is what I found so far:
-MMS doesn't work, I receive notifications for them but never download
-Wifi and bluetooth are buggy, toggles from the Quick Settings menu tend to get stuck after 2-3 toggles and require a reboot to fix
-Dialer doesn't pick up touches sometimes
-NFC gets stuck in on position and causes massive wakelocks. I ended up disabling NFCService and Tag Service to stop the issues
-Mobile Networks Section has GSM settings in it
-Flash seems disabled in AOSP Camera app
-Rotation issues like other AOSP roms
Besides that though the ROM is surprisingly usable for being one of the few roms available for the Sprint G2, I would definitely like to see your build code since it looks 90% in working condition.

I flashed and it booted and stuck on carbon logo.
Am I missing the gapps file?

Yes but it should work without gapps go into the Verizon PA 4.3.1 and get those gapps. Did you wipe?

usually the culprit of not wiping. its a given that you need to wipe every time you switch roms especially from stock to custom rom.

Just wiped and successfully flashed this ROM... so far awesome!
Still missing a few things that i'm thinking the 4.3.1 Gapps file will fix.. So can anyone provide me the link to download that file??? pleeasse!!

Normally I get really ticked off with people saying to Google it, but seriously, it's freaking Gapps....It's literally the easiest thing to find in the entire Android development universe. I Googled 5 letters, and it was the very first thing that came up, or second(if you want goo.im directly).....

Thanks to those that helped me out... I have a new g2 and wanted to install the right file. I have no idea what a gapp file is, let alone what it does. Better be safe than sorry.
Anyhow, the link I provided worked for those that are in my boat.

Custom kitkat roms

Hello all.
I see there are already some custom kitkat roms based on the stock kitkat for optimus g f180.
Here is the very stock kitkat rom provided by paulicat on the andoid development. It is good and battery life is awesome, as stock usually is, but there arent a lot of features.

And here is sling rom 2.0 from lgviet, it has many features, such as guest mode, slide aside and cool lockscreen effects, inclunding the "ocean" effect from lg g flex. It homewer doesnt have knock code or knock on. It does have the knock off which is nice
Battery life is almost as good as stock kk.

Using the sling rom on my e975, haven't used it enough to give feedback on battery....
But heres some screenies
The first two hours I was using this rom, it felt very slow in animations, keyboard and such, but now that it has been running over the night and had a reboot aswell, its really snappy and responsive!

Yeah Sling v 2.0 is really smooth and battery life is much more longer than 4.1.2 everything work fine 3G ,2G ,WIFI ,WIFI Tether is good to go . I don't have any lagging in this ROM

So how do you guys Install the sling rom from lgviet? Do you flash a patch or something? And if you do, Which patch is it? Im asking because I couldnt get it to boot past the lg logo. I flashed only the rom in lgviet. I have an e975. Thanks for help

Heres how i flashed:

I'm using the first kitkat available here in the forum (4.4 rom.zip) and have a strage feature/problem.
When I receive a call is I Don't answer or reject in 10/15 seconds, the call is answered automatically...
Anyone with same "problem "? Any way to disable it?

I have your rom installed from 3 days now and for me all it's working. It's snappy, clean and fast. Private mode it's not working but it's not biggie for me. The battery life it's also good. Thanks one again for your hard work. I wish you a Happy New Year , my friend. !!!:good:

Im trying to decide which Note 4 to buy. Im in Canada and ill use Wind mobile...
I want to buy the note 4 that would give me the most options in terms of roms.
I had the note 3 tmobile and later the note 3 Canadian.
There were ar fewer options for with the canadian for a flashaholic.
So pls, which model would you go with?

I tried flashing via TWRP version 2.8 but it says it's corrupted.. I downloaded the file twice just to make sure and still the same... I even tested with CWM and I still can't as it says it's corrupted. Any ideas how to solve this?

Hello! I installed this custom Rom today. Thank you! However I noticed a lot of optional apps like facebook instagram etc still on it and can't be uninstalled. I was expecting all optional apps to be removed to make this as light as possible.
Also Wifi Does not work!
Am I mistaken. I am a custom rom noob .

The provided link is no longer valid - any chance of getting a repost or pointing me to another? Need to downgrade from 6 so that my phone actually works with my vehicle ... such a shame, but necessary. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

My note 4 doesn't wake from deep sleep. It also doesn't start if once battary emptied
I need 4.4.4 rom for Canadian note 4-N910W8, this link to download is removed. Can someone please help me to find this rom.

So i am coming to hate this phone's lack of mods and roms
are any of the international roms compatible with this device that anyone has found?

I'm finding out that u can flash the edge roms with the standard s6 kernels

What ROM you on right now? I would love to try out SACs Sprint S6 Edge ROM, but I'm scared to bc of not having a recovery and being able to do a nandroid haha.

We just need to wait it out. No other choice ?

Just do a full backup on flashfire should be fine

Just got my S6 from Sprint today I take it it is still in new development phases for ROMS??? Sorry I have been out of touch and on that I word crap for the last year........

I am running Sacs with the ktoonz kernel. No issues as of yet. Native hotspot...knox removed....good stuff...

Did you trip knox flashing the rom or kernel ?

Mine did, but that was my choice. Used TWRP and just flashed the "old school" way. But have seen reports of people flashing this ROM with flashfire with no Knox trip

Good to know. I hadn't gotten in this forum until today. I decided to purchase the S6 because I could get it at a steal, and now is a great time to sell my S5, but I was having buyers remorse because of the lack of development.
I can't complain because I'm lazy and don't want to learn to do it myself.

I haven't flashed this as yet, but reading the forum the issue appears for have been fixed with an updated kernel included in the current version.

You can fix fingerprint scanner and private mode in sac23s rom with XtreStoLites Aroma addon pack

Took The Plunge
Installed Sac's ROM through Flashfire and found myself wondering why I waited. Got everything set up as I wanted without any problems. Do remember to flash the Ktoonsez kernel after the ROM.
I don't care about Samsung Pay and I doubt that I ever will, so I installed TWRP right after. This felt so good, I see other ROMs in my future especially since sac23 says an update is coming soon. I feel like it is my phone again.

Using FlashFire (which I know that you have!):
Step 1: Choose Backup if you want. Then let that do its thing.
Step 2: After back, choose Wipe and accept defaults.
Step 3: Select the two zips, ROM and Kernel.
Step 4: Let her rip!
