I am seriously considering this option due to the poor battery life and scratch issues. Anyone else on the same boat? Just curious to know what made you think about returning the device?

I am on the fence myself. The locked bootloader and an uncertain future regarding even a reliable root has me concerned. T-Mobile is slowly turning into the carrier I left (VZW) for them.
I believe I am going to be returning. I still have 9 days to be within my 14 day return period for Verizon. I am just overall not very impressed with the phone. I came from an iPhone 6s. The only things I have been enjoying more are the larger screen and the fact that it is ip68 resistant. I haven't been using the s-pen as much as I thought I would and the overall user experience for me just hasn't been as satisfying as I had hoped. I am also very, very unimpressed with battery life.
I think I'm going to return the the 6s and wait to see what Apple offers in a few weeks with the new iPhone. If not that, then I'll wait till early next year for another Samsung device possibly. Probably won't pre-order again either. Let others get their experience in and find out the faults of the phone before I go through ordering myself.

This is always the case regarding root and locked bootloaders concerning Samsung phones in recent years, my friend. I have been using this phone without a case and love the ergonomics of the phone. I use it mainly for business and an iPhone 6s Plus as my personal. The S-pen comes in handy with signing docs, smart select is useful, and note taking in general. I have not been happy with battery life compared to the Moto Z Force I put in the drawer for this. Overall I'll more than likely keep it because it suits my needs with business.
My screen has uneven backlighting and there is no other stock still for the phone. I will not keep a defective phone which is why I'm considering it, I am overall impressed with the device considering its features. It's a little slower than some other android phones I have used like the oneplus 3 and the nexus 6P. I think I would keep it otherwise.
SOT > 6h
No battery draining issues.
Phones are as snappy as it can be.
I suggest if you have lag issues, go to your friendly neighbourhood carrier outlet and have your device checked or exchanged.
I am using an international exynos FD model.

The battery life is bugging me a lot. Also, the stuttering is stupid for such an expensive phone. Lastly, it isn't enough for me to leave my iPhone. I know.. i know... the iPhone just worked. Thats it.
Anyone talking Iphone on this thread is looking for a reason to go back to that "limited" format. My device works perfect! The only battery issues i have is with my GearS2
Glass back? Broke in 16 hours. Idiotic and really, gorilla Glass? Dropped it maybe 2.25 ft. From sitting down and it shattered. Thought shattered anything was an iPhone issue. Have had nothing but Samsung since the first note. Never a case issue till 2 feet ago.
Stupid. Glass back? Who the **** cares about the back

Agreed this is the 1st note with good battery life. The device itself though is physically just too fragile. Samsung front, iPhone back. They testify it has gorilla glass in the back but .....

Literally just packed my Note 7 back into its box, and being returned later in the morning. Didn't even last me a full week unfortunately. I truly wanted to love this phone, I really did, but the amount of lag that this phone suffers from is just unacceptable for its high end price.
Having high hopes now for the LG V20, and the new Nexus...

Zero clue how you are getting that long of SOT. That is nuts. I decided not to return the phone anyway, but the best SOT I have seen so far is around 4 hours. Is there anything you have done specifically to increase your SOT. 9-9 hours is really a lot.

I will also hold up and now seriously thinking on keeping the S7 Edge which literally is the same phone... i too had hopes that diminished sadly. For years a fan of the Note's series..
I ve written an article about why the OnePlus 3 is the better phone to get here.. and why Samsung has let us down again.

Before any of you return your Note 7 for battery issues, please try the steps in the following link. I along with most others had these same issues with the S7E and now many of us get 2 days and 9 hours SOT with one charge.
Follow these steps and report back.

Thats a garbage post mate. A lot of users do even more than this. Even with 129 disabled apps / services I dont need, disabled GPS, all of the random sensors in settings, and SOO much more.. I should be getting more SOT than 6.5.

My house is pretty damn cold some times lol.
I watched a review on youtube of the note10 not the plus.. And the SOC was only 3 to 4 hours max which concerns me about the note 10 plus... I hope it's more then the note 9?
Using the Note10+ 9825 version. Lasts me as long as my previous phone which was S10+.
However, it still is learning my usage patterns. Results may vary in future (2 weeks).
Can't say battery here is bad, but it's not great either. Bear in mind I'm using a pretty raw version of the firmware.
I wouldn't worry about the snapdragon version. My buddy sent me this. They're getting about 8-10hrs with LTE and mixed usage.
Gonna share my usage details too (tmrw) so you would know what to expect from daily usage.
You have to give it time. I found with my S10 plus that my battery was horrible at first. I know this because I had to swap my phone, essentially, 5 times because of the LTE issue. Each swap the battery sucked for the first week or so then it evened out. Just be patient. [emoji16]

Could you compare Note10+ vs S10+ interm of temperature? Does it heat up too high @ heavy load?
If battery life are the same, temp same too, I think!

I used S10+ 9820. Note 10+ with 9825 heats noticeably less. The only heavy load for me was an hour of tes blades and it wasn't that hot. However, playing the same game on S10+ didn't cause much heat either.
But it's free to state that in daily usage Note10+ feels cooler than S10+.
Battery life seems pretty identical.

per the screenshot, this sucks. Its the same as My Note 9. I understand the screen is bigger by about 6.25% but I would expect better not just because the battery is bigger (7.5%) but because the cpu is smaller with 7nm vs 10, and better software. I'll cross longer battery life as a reason of just a few to upgrade.

Can't tell for your country. In Russia some people who preordered it will get it on Agust 16th. What I know for sure, most of the stores around the globe have them already in stock but selling or giving them out is strictly prohibited.
First Note 10+ video of battery life. ITS A BEAST!:

So, here's my battery result for Monday.
I'm using the 9825 version.
The device was removed from charging pod at 11:30~ p.m. yesterday, the screenshot was taken today at 8:15 p.m.
Resolution set - WQHD +, brightness outdoors - around 70%, indoors - 40%, the night mode wasn't applied throughout the whole day. AoD has been working since 7 a.m. up to the point of taking the screenshot.
Wi-Fi had been working from 11:30 p.m. until 8:50 a.m. LTE has been working for the whole day without disabling. Bluetooth and Poweramp - 1 hour 35 minutes. I used NFC for a couple of times to make a payment. Rest of the usage is messengers, browsing, social networks, etc.
The adaptive period (2 weeks) has not passed yet, the device discharged for 6% during the night. I didn’t do any hardcore configurations nor disabled any applications or services. Almost stock experience settings wise, however, I have around 500~ apps installed including system ones.

I worked inventory at Best buy for a few years and Everytime a new Samsung phone would launch we would receive them in batches around 2 to 3 weeks before the launch date. iPhones on the other hand wouldn't be received by us until a day or two before the release in massive deliveries. They most likely already have them if not they will be receiving them very soon they just can't sell them since they won't even appear in the POS system.

Reconfig Adguard to make it eat less battery. Just disable filter apps like Social, Messaging, Google Apps ... Think about the apps you don't need to filter it
Battery life is a combination of literally hundreds of factors. Comparing battery life is a meaningless process except in controlled situations.
One person can get great battery and another person a few feet away can get crap on the same model phone.
How much you use your phone (based on AI tuned optimizations), what apps you have on your phone, the brand of WiFi router you have, the color of your shirt, the brightness in the room, how cloudy of a day it is, how often you enter and exit a building, and on and on can make small impacts on your battery that add up to your total battery life. It is impossible to replicate or compare in the real world.
Hello I'm looking for upgrade from Samsung Note 3. I'm looking for phone with best camera and big screen for about 260$ used.
I can get Pixel 2Xl for like 900zł/1000pln its about 262,11 dolars is it worth it still ? My friend told me that i should get some more money and get k20 pro but i think Pixel 2 will take far more better photos? Or am i wrong ?
I really liked photos taken by Samsung S8 i can't get anything lower than that ;P
i got a second-hand pixel 2xl 128gb in previous month
no regret at all
u still get monthly update till next year which makes me excited at all
with modded pixel camera, u can get super res zoom, 1-minute astronography mode, only pixel phones can use those mods
If you like playing games go for the k20 pro as it has more processing power.
If you like a nice software experience (with still 1 year more of guaranteed updates), a camera that still fights face to face with the newest flagships, unlimited Google Photos storage until 2021... then get the Pixel.
Thanks ! Gonna hunt for cheap good shape pixel 64 Gb and stick with it for some time
I'm to old for mobile games i want mini dslr in my pocket

I intend to stay with my Pixel 2 xl for at least another year. the best smartphone I ever had. good battery, fantastic camera, and it's extremely fast.
I bought my P2XL off of Swappa in January. That's the only way I'll purchase phones from now on. Unless you get free or highly discounted from your carrier, you will lose so much curb value as soon as you take possession of it. Swappa stands behind their listings too.
I would rather go with a pixel 3axl. I guess it will get 2 years of update.
I'm still on my Oct 18 Pixel 2 XL and it's running so well that I skipped the 3 XL, might skip the 4 XL, and even seriously considering waiting for the pixel 5 XL next year. Yes, I think it's that good!
The camera takes seriously good pics. I've compared real life pics to the iPhone 11 (my daughter's) the Note 8 (friend at work) but have not compared it to the K20.
My battery life is still great, 5-6 hrs SOT with fairly heavy use which is what I was getting when it was new.
Seriously, the 2 XL is a beast of a phone and unless you got plenty of $$$ to burn, or yo must have the latest flagship device, I doubt you'll be disappointed with a bargain priced 2 XL.

Not sure exactly to what you are referring with the "stuck battery icon" at shut down, but I don't experience any anomalies like that on the latest Magisk (oct factory image)...
Not sure if this helps or not, but the only thin I get once in a great while is after a reboot, I loose touch capability on the display, but a long press power button cycle fixes it and it only happens once or twice a month, so not even on my "worry radar"
I'm currently interested in getting a phone strictly for Gcam since Pixel 3/3a and above have prices out of this Earth (Pixel 3a sells @500 EUR+), i'm not decided what to choose between Pixel 2XL and Mi 9 /Mi 9T. I know i'm asking this question on Pixel 2XL forum but I'd appreciate some objective opinions on what should i choose

I'm guessing you haven't let it get to 0% or not used magisk 19.x and it seems like that is indeed fixed on magisk 20.x
Where do you think this touch capability issue comes from? In other words what kernel and/or ROMs at you using? Obviously this can also be magisk modules and other things.

I have the Mi 9T, very happy with the decision.
However, I am on locked bootloader and completely stock with some debloating. I do have Gcam and unfortunately I really am the wrong person to answer this question.
What I can tell you as of NOW, is that the development support is not as good as it can be. It is by no means bad but because of broken kernel sources (to my knowledge) it has hindered it whilst the Pro models have more kernels, ROMs etc.
I am sure that this will greatly improve and match the Mi 9T/K20 Pro once android 10 with its kernel sources are out.
I do enjoy stock and locked though. Around 7 hour SOT 2 day battery life for me.

I'm running Nov factory image, latest 10 EX kernel, latest TWRP, and latest Magisk... the only thing that's not the latest is my 2XL
Honestly, I thing the weirdness with the touch not registering sometimes is either a software hangup (as it always clears on hard reboot) or a Android 10 vs TWRP thing as back in the day, TWRP had similar touch issues with 8x I think it was (albeit that was only when actually in TWRP recovery.
But like any other bug issue; if it barely affects my life, or is easy to get rid of, I'll gladly deal with it to not be stock and to have all the options root gives me (even if I've been waaaaay too lazy lately to do anything other than flash latest factory images)

Yup, already ordered a 6 Pro. I have the regular OP9 and it's been underwhelming.
No full update zips for international
Bad battery life
Poor RAM management
Poor mobile data signal/reception
No working VoWiFi (carrier won't support OP phones)
And this last one isn't a huge deal for me but the whole throttling stuff
I'm pretty sure the 6 Pro will alleviate all above issues I'm having with my OP9.
Ordered the Pixel 6pro and traded in my OnePlus8Pro.
I'm keeping my OnePlus9Pro!
Cheers

My OP9P overheats doing nothing. I haven't heard Google does too.
just sold my P9Pro and preordered the P6Pro.
i really wanted to love the OP9Pro. The hardware was amazing and the camera was much better than what the reviews suggested.
But the software experience was mediocre. OOS11 felt like a cheap chinese aosp rom, no special must have features except of the camera software. therefore it felt laggy, cause many apps were only running in 60 fps.
ColorOS was not as bad as what everybody said, but the camera was horrible.
i didn't trust oppo in delivering timely updates once the OP9pro isn't the latest and greatest anymore so i thought it wasn't worth the money and sold it.
I am waiting for October 25th and the tests and if the P6 Pro is as good as it seems to be I will resell my 9Pro.
OnePlus is lost.

If everything is good as what google says it is, then yes i will go back to pixel. They literally are the new flagship killer considering price and specs. Its gonna be a challenge for samsung to bring their stupid prices down too and apple.

Testing with multiple third-party PD chargers, the closest to Google's estimated charge time came from a 45W laptop charger, which surpassed 50% charge (enough for a day's use) after approximately 40 minutes, with a full charge still taking 2.25 hours total.
Google Pixel 6 Pro review: The dawn of a new era?
The Pixel 6 Pro offers up a familiar Android experience but dressed with a new look and running new hardware that reaches far beyond anything we've seen from a Pixel before

I was just interested to see who here plans on upgrading to the Pixel 7 / Pro come October? I'm on the fence but leaning towards sticking with my 6 Pro for another year. From what I've seen, spec-wise, I do not see it as a significant upgrade. And Android 13 is Android 13 on either phone. I tend to upgrade most years and am typically disappointed with the result (since my Pixel 4 XL, which I really did like). I mean, it's exciting to get a new phone but certainly not necessary unless you have a good reason (damage or whatever).
What say you all?
If the battery life, camera flaring issues and cellular connectivity is better, I might upgrade at the end of the year. I really like my 6 Pro, but its just those few things that been a bit of a pain. My OnePlus 8 Pro on Android 12 have had less issues overall compared to this phone, and being on 5G doesn't murder the battery life as much as it does on my 6 Pro.
I've read that Google's trade-in policies can be sketchy at times. I had thought about trading in the 6 Pro for the 7 Pro, but I've been on the fence with that.

Think I'll wait for the 8. The 7 sounds like a minor update so far, hardware wise. Some have speculated that the 8 may be produced on Samsung's 3nm Process, although others have said that it may not because it will be too expensive. I've got the 2XL, 4XL and 6 Pro, so just may stick with the 2 yr updates.
Yes, though I'm considering trying the next Samsung flagship for fun too
Come to think of it, excpet for the OG Pixel XL (I always use XL phones excpet for the Pixel 3, which I don't like) ), I have not liked the 3 and 5 series AT.ALL. *for obvious reasons) and still have my 2XL and 4XL as cherished backsups and am totally in love with my P6P.
So it looks like the odd-numbered series I don't like and the even I do, at least so far, so will probably not upgrade.

I love the superstition, haha.
I remember the days where upgrading your phone was a BIIIIIIG deal. This goes back to my days of having a Samsung Captivate. I mean, each new phone was a totally new experience. Now, not so much. I'd probably still be happy with my Pixel 4 XL. But I always trade my phones in to get a discount. At this point, though, I really see no reason to upgrade to the 7. Maybe when the prices drop later in the year or in 2023 it would make more sense but I am USUALLY The guy that buys the new Pixel on day 1. Definitely not this year.
Nope. Next phone is going to be either a Pixel Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 5, or the Pixel 8 Pro.
Nope. Same Modem I read. And No 50MP shots really left a terrible taste in my mouth. 12MP is 12MP I don't care if it's BINNED or not. My 3aXL took better pictures and that really burnt me.

Same here, I only got the even numbers Pixels.
Still using my 4 XL, I'm having a hard time parting with it
But I'm probably gonna use my 6 Pro very soon now that Android 13 has finally ironed out the bugs of 12.
I'm still slightly worried about the battery life and cell reception though.

I know the September update did address the battery life specifically, if that eases your mind at all.
My wife and I will likely either be waiting for the Pixel 8 Pro / XL / SuperMondo, or potentially until sometime after all security updates stop for the Pixel 6 Pro, so sometime late 2026 or early 2027.
Edit: We did similar for the Pixel 1/XL - didn't update until after it stopped receiving monthly updates.
I've been testing MVK that is under volted and it has cleaned up a lotttt of the heat this phone use to give me. And he's UV the modem as we speak. We playing with . Android 13 and MVK have honestly solved 96% of my problems I had with this Raven.

Yeah, I've found the heating issue to be problematic myself. In fact, I think it's led to quite a few unplanned reboots of my phone. It happens a lot ON the Pixel Stand, as a matter of fact.

That's why I don't like wireless charging. Nothing but heat. And where there's a magnetic field, there's an electrical current, and where there's a electrical current, there's a magnetic field. Understanding this physical principal teaches us that although it is "cool" visually, it's not "cool" physically. But yeah this phone has terrible thermals. Since google gave me the middle finger I am tempted to tear the phone apart and see if I can place A. Thermal paste, and B. Thermal pads in the phone in places to allow the phone to act more as a heat sink. But as of now my phone rarely goes above 120f anymore and the battery is consistently below 100f. It use to COOK on A12.1

Uh huh, I noticed that in the changelog. Well, let's hope so!

And what did you do to achieve this besides not using wireless charging? I couldn't quite understand what you meant in your earlier post.

I'm on a test Kernel of MVK that is under volted. Less heat.
What I need is; faster charging, an improved 4G/5G modem and better wifi connectivity.
What I want is; a much faster processor (not gonna happen), a flat screen (never gonna happen).
Unless they give me a sweet trade in price like Apple, what's the point for a slightly better camera, probably free pixel buds, and the same screen?
If you want all the 4G/5G bands across all carriers in the US, and the ability to root the device that you own and paid for , your stuck with this 2018 era Samsung processor, and low nit screen.
I would probably spring for a Pixel Fold, just to have something new.

I actually think I would as well.

I have the same opinion as you, probably going to wait for the 8.
