Remarks, Questions and Answers
Known Major Issues
Audio quality during voice calls: Voice calls in handset mode are still too loud. Resolved with lineage-16.0-20200210-nightly-z3
FM Radio buggy: Slow scanning, FM radio is not always starting correctly. We are not working on that right now. Workaround: Let the phone do the initial scan for ~30 min or so, than you can use it.
WiFi issues (low (?) speed @ 5GHz, hotspot): This topic is related to a dirty workaround. We are aware of the issue (since years) but don't have a better solution atm.
Disk Encryption: Disk Encryption is working, however not with the default password (no password). Workaround: Set password first, then start disk encryption, not the other way round!
VOIP: Mic not working when on hands-free mode. Affected apps e.g. WhatsApp, Google Duo, Skype. Work-around:
Modify file /system/vendor/etc/audio_effects.xml according to this change (delete two lines).
You need write access to /system. I recommend using ADB during TWRP recovery mode to perform that. You need to mount /system beforehand in TWRP.
This disables the default Echo Compensation and Noise Suppression effects. With the current setup, they are not working anyways (NS/AEC is handled differently). This does not affect normal voice calls, as they are not used for voice-calls anyways.
Bluetooth Low Power may create wakelocks in certain scenarios. Not yet tested that myself, but seems to affect the whole shinano family since a long time already.
Thermal throttling of CPU cores: Due to a design issue of the thermal manager ("Thermanager") when used with older kernels like ours you have to expect that the frequency throttling of the CPU cores may fail, especially after(!) the device was getting hot and is recovering. This may lead to performance issues until reboot and other issues. Workaround: reboot device after heavy use. This issue seems to be present since years with our open source custom ROMs.
GNSS: GLONASS and BEIDOU not working correctly --> will be fixed with LOS17.1
You tell us (with logs please)...

Further hints
If you need Google Apps we recommend the "nano" package, however, I personally use the "stock" package which works as well.
If you need to install a lot of apps you may run out of internal DATA storage capacity, especially if you install one of the larger GAPPS packages. These apps are initially placed on the system partition and do not cost you DATA capacity. However, every update which comes over the Play Store then fills up your data partition. Using an SD card formated as "external" storage does not help you much (unless you use a tool like app2sd which is no more recommended) and isn't encrypted. Formating the SD card as "adoptable storage" comes with the drawback that some apps do not allow to be migrated to this storage, and unfortunately this is true for some streaming music/video apps which need to store a lot of data obviously (for offline use). The solution I am using is to partition a SD card as "mixed", which gives you the possibility to offload at least some apps to adoptable storage while you still have a classical external FAT32 partition where e.g. your streaming app can save its offline files:
Find a large (I tested a 400GB microSDXC card) and fast ("A1" or higher) Micro SD card.
Follow this guide to partition your SD card. Note: all data on the card will be lost.
Restart your phone.
When you are notified that a new storage card has been detected, use it as "external". (Your internal partition has been recognized at that point already and does not need interaction.)
Go to settings / Storage. Verify that you see three entries: 1. Your internal phone storage of 16GB. This includes your SYSTEM partition. 2. Your SD card with an SD card symbol. The size shown should be the full capacity of the card. If you click on it, your "external" partition is shown (misleading) as "System" and blocked. Click on migrate data to migrate all possible apps to your adoptable storage. 3. Your sd card partition formated as mobile storage (unencrypted!).
How to create logs:
Follow How To Logcat
If your device randomly reboots:
Go to Settings -> System -> Advanced -> Developer options -> Store logger data persistently on device. After the reboot occured: Pull the logs from /data/misc/logd/ (root required).
If your device crashes during boot and reboots to recovery:
Code:
adb pull /proc/last_kmsg
Please submit logs from clean systems without "Exposed" or similar modifications in place
Your feedback is wanted
Details on any WiFi issues - please state your country & used frequency channels (if possible). Please test and report if the situation gets better with the MAGISK module linked below.

You are welcome. LineageOS 17.1 is in a pretty good shape for z3/z3c. I have built an unofficial version for z3 with February security patch and uploaded it to https://osdn.net/projects/ephedraceae/storage/z3/lineage-17.1/
It should be in a similar state to 16.0 now. Selinux is enforcing and everything should be working so far.

Unfortunately no. I don't have experience with the dual SIM device yet, so I am unable to take care of that.
BUG?
Hey, I have had this bug for a long time now but here I'm presenting it to you guys for some assistance.
When I have used my phone for a while without restarting; I can't move the apps on home screen or in the app drawer meaning that I can't uninstall them from home/app drawer. I can confirm this is working for me on STOCK ROM (Marshmallow 6.1).
If I reboot or force stop the launcher it gets back to normal and works as nothing happened. I use the official TREBUCHET
The log was too big so that's why I compressed it using .ZIP

Correct, /sdcard/ and /storage/emulated/0/ don't link to /data/media/0/ atm, which causes Play Store to crash and other apps to be unable to save data. We're working on this, expect a fresh build soon.

This site says they sourced the info from another site. That another site has download links for Xperia Z and Z1 compact, nothing for Z1. Although the ibtimes.co.uk claims everything is working, the original (source) says except camera.
It looks and sounds like fake. In addition, you are exposing your bootloader unlocked device to something you have no idea about. What if that image modifies your bootloader? You won't be able to reverse the change at all...

External storage doesn't work yet; neither do nfc and the camera. Haven't tested gps yet. Unfortunately Google apps are pretty unstable because of the internal sd bug, which we are looking into atm.
EDIT: I have uploaded Alpha 3 which should fix RIL. Can anyone confirm this? I don´t have a spare SIM lying around atm.
Just awesome... Thank you so much!!!

What is Kali NetHunter? If you don't know what NetHunter is read this: https://www.kali.org/kali-linux-nethunter/
Q: Why don't I flash the original nethunter version by keeping my current kernel?
A: To get Nethunter fully work you need a kernel that supports its features, such as put a wireless adapter in monitor mode or perform a HID Keyboard attack
Special Patches included in this kernel:
mac80211 injection patch, to put wireless adapters in monitor mode; note that built-in wireless chipset doesn't support monitor mode and you have to use external wireless adapter (see supported wireless cards here)
HID patch, to perform HID keyboard attacks
CD-ROM patch, to emulate CD-ROMs in DriveDroid
Warning!!!:
This version is not tested by me (since I don't have a hono 5x ) but it's tested by another user that told me it works, so, if it doesn't blame him not me
Disclaimer:
Code:
I'm not responsable for bricked devices :( , dead phone chargers,

Required Downloads:
Download any CM based ROM
Download any custom recovery (like twrp)
Download my Nethunter "ROM" here: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=118871 All future updates will be in that folder
How to Install (CM/RR):
Note: When you flash my zips, don't check "zip signature verification" box in TWRP recovery
1) Install TWRP
2) Enter in TWRP recovery
3) Flash any CM based (like cm, rr, aicp...) ROM
4) Optional: flash Google Apps after flashed a cm based recovery
5) Flash NetHunter zip
7) Reboot
8) Open Nethunter app and go to menu<chroot manager<install chroot and download the full chroot, for devices which have more storage available, or minimal chroot, for devices which have less space available
9) Close NetHunter app and reopen it to complete the installation
10) Enjoy
Important: I called NetHunter "ROM", but it isn't a ROM, so, you don't have to wipe system partition.
Note: report only bugs related to NetHunter and not to cm based roms

Kali Linux on Honor 5X! This is amazing!
Downloaded and flashed on KIW-L22 - On Tipsy OS - AOSP and AOKP (CM Based) - Initial boot took a while longer than normal, got a boot loop first, but it came back up after cache/dalvik wipe
Kali chroot manager stuck in "Checking" even after 10 minutes though
Edit: Lost root on installing this and didn't notice it, and busybox too.....reinstalling SuperSU through TWRP is not bringing it back root access either, so cannot install busybox too......nethunter app returned an error for not getting root access and no busybox installation!
PS: In love with the boot animation!!

2. On AOKP (CM based) - Flash and wipe cache/dlavik, took a while longer but booted up normally, but I guess it will settle
Still trying to figure out how and what to use it for but just wanted to report back that the flashing process went well!!

Anyway i will upload the zip with full chroot once i finish my cm14 port for a5

I even tried the alfa rtl8187l chipset without any result,
The problem is the low current for the adapter from the phone,
The usb hub with an external power supply maybe solves the problem, but it is not practical for a displacement

VIDEO ENCODER/DECODER ISSUES: This results in green lines on videos/pictures taken using the Intel HW encoder/decoder and other playback issues dependent on video formats. See the list below:
[*] Snapchat: thin greeen line tends to appear on recorded videos for snapchat
Asus Pixelmaster Camera App: Super resolution mode does not work. Turning off "Optimizations" from settings clears up any green line issues.

You've utilized the search function of the forums. Nothing irritates me more than lazy people who do not search for an answer before asking or ask the same question over and over again.
If you are the only one having a problem. Boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, reflash the rom/gapps and nothing else. Boot up and see if the problem persists.
Make sure your post is relevant to this thread. "I'm having problems rooting/unlocking" is NOT relevant here.

DATA MIGRATION BUILDS
"THESE BUILDS WILL TAKE A LONG TIME (~30 mins) TO BOOT"
LineageOS has moved to private key signed builds. This is something that typically requires a full data wipe to transition too. To ease this burden for users who are not accustomed to that , the initial release builds are designed "MIGRATION" to help users who do not want to clean flash from an existing CM/Lineage build. Use the data migration builds as a one time "Flash this first, and then the officials" to migrate to private key signed builds. Follow the below instructions using the admiration builds to preserve app data if so desired, Otherwise feel free to clean flash directly to the weekly release builds
Official CM-13.0 -> CM14.1 Upgrade Guide
As seen with my previous unofficial CM-13.0 builds based on the MM Stock roms, An upgrade to the MM Firmware and bootloader is required going forward.
This guide is here to assist.
1) Download ROM and 7.1 GAPPS
2) Download my Firmware Update package for Z00A or Z008 . FASTBOOT AND ADB ARE REQUIRED!
3) Follow the included instructions to update Firmware and flash the new compatible TWRP. If for some reason the new TWRP is not flashed automatically flash it manually via fastboot. "fastboot flash recovery recoverimagename.img
4) Reboot to recovery and flash CM 14 and Gapps, reboot and enjoy. Data Wipe on upgrade is not required
CM 14.1 from Stock MM
1) Unlock Bootloader
2) Flash compatible TWRP
3) Perform desired backups
4) From recovery, factory reset & install ROM & 7.1 GAPPS
5) Enjoy!
CM 14.1 from CM13 Mm based beta builds
1) Reboot to TWRP( should already have good version)
2) Flash CM14.1 and 7.1 GAPPS
3) Reboot and enjoy!!
Reserve !

The builds are signed, its your twrp that's not signed with the same private key(and never will be) that keeps you from using that sig verification.

Is the battery life really horrible? Is it worse than the MM blobs CM 13? Anyways, thanks for continuing to develop this great ROM.

No, it's actually been much better recently. I cleaned up a couple of the issues that were causing inconsistent wakelock issues a week or so ago.

Can confirm, I noticed my battery get much better recently before realizing you had updated that. I still have an issue with losing fast/quick charge, but I haven't seen others mention this so it's likely an issue on my end.
New nightly rom is amazing.... Thanks a lot guys @jrior001

No you can't do it with twrp... You need adb(comp) and unrooting is not necessary... Uninstalling xposed is also not necessary... It won't work in nougat.. It'll just be there
Can i use SuperSU instead of the official root?
Wow , I know I've just done a clean install of the nightly ....but , is it just me or is this a lot faster , more fluent browsing the web pages than anything built in the past ? Or am I slightly delirious thru watching all that blue building up coff ?
Hats off to the new age lineage and the master dev
Just moved to the official branch. Migration tool worked perfectly, and SU optional package did its job as well.
The whole process was absolutely painless, so let's enjoy OTA updates from now on!
Welcome to MIUI sGSI For Galaxy J7 2017
TESTED ON J730X
Some information you should know..
This is a fully working MIUI sGSI with Android version 9.0
If you want to report a Bug, read the F.A.Q First Then provide a logCat OR LoggingKit.zip with detailed explanation
Read the instructions and the F.A.Q Before installing the rom or posting a reply.
I don't own any files here, except patch files.
So, we are here with sGSI. It's normally called "unstable" and "not for daily usage" so users are recommended to go for GSI. But GSI lacks features and has AOSP-like design that some users may be bored of that. And now we finally break that law. sGSI can now be used as daily drivers.
As the nature of these sGSI go, it was a non stop battle for almost 3 weeks straight to get it to this point where all features are working as expected. if you appreacite this work Hit the Thanks button
RULES OF POSTING : READ everything before commenting, And especially the instlal steps, the rom has been tested throughly for a long time, so if you have an critical issue like not booting or no sim, you missed the instructions, posts that are irrelevant to this project will be ignored(Constructive criticism is welcomed). If you do face a new bug however, dont just say "hey bug here" provide more information, and a LOGCAT, bug reports without logcats will most likely be ignored.

Good idea to read this F.A.Q While the rom is installing
Notes:
Q : Brightness bar not working / Camera doesn't work
A : You have flashed Spaget X instead of Spaget 3.0. Reinstall again
Q : Phone doesn't detect any SIM cards
A : Flash latest Cronos/KRAKEN kernel
Q : Everything on my screen is so small [J730 only]
A : Go to Settings > Developer settings > Set screen density to 411
Q : I got front camera stretch
A : Change resolution from 16:9 to 4:3
Q : Can I use front flashlight?
A : No, Samsung has their own libs, for now no apps can use front flashlight. Back flashlight still works
Q : How is battery Life ?
A : With some tests and some cycles, it will be better than stock due to optimzations
Q : the phone wont install any apps
A : Reboot
One more
does the rom have some type of error for daily use
VoLTE : Not work, need flash Magisk Module and using Phone App to VoLTE work
All work normal, just a Android Pie but like Android Q MIUI :good:
Great work
The first boot is so longer? I've waiting more than 10 minutes and don't boot. Or is bootloop?
And i've not found the MIUI-Patch.zip, only sGSI-Patch.zip
What android version is this? Can i flash the official magisk? There's no camera stretch bug? Like other gsi rom?

Nice
Updated FAQ and sGSI patch. I forgot to add an important fix in patch, so anyone using this MIUI, reflash the new patch right now :good:
I tried again, followed all the steps as requested. On the first boot, I restarted the phone after approximately 30 seconds. But I still bootloop. I'm using Project Spaget 3.0, but I can't find a topic in the forum. Could you send me your Project Spaget zip file?
My logcat is on attachments
nfc not working. I installed the fix on the twrp and it failed, I had to install the fix when I started the cell phone so that it did not give me an error and it appears as a module installed in magisk but it does not work

Ideed. I renounced Kraken kernel and they both worked well.
I don't have courage enough to try magisk, after a lot of attempts: latest version of magisk from github, the v17 magisk especially for havoc, even supersu... They all broke my OS.
And the TWRP backup didn't succeed to restore, either.
Another problem for which I didn't find a solution is the loudspeaker: I cannot use speaker for SIM 2 phone calls.
I tried replacing the SIM cards and a lot of settings, but no result: for SIM2 conversations, I cannot use loudspeaker.
Anyway, thank you thank you thank you for your helpful help.

Yes KRAKEN kernel breaks ROM on magisk flash, so you need to use Cronos kernel
Im trying to fix that broken loudspeaker bug.

not sure if this is a noob question but i'm kinda new around this...
regarding this Havoc-OS_2.9_J6-J5_J730_J701.zip
Is this your latest Havoc-OS version based on android 9.0 (pie) ?
I'm testing it on my J730
and it runs alright and fast enough, good job on that man!
but I'm experiencing a few not listed bugs:
-recorded videos seem to have wrong a time-lapse making them "corrupted" and impossible to view\share (even recording directly trough whatsapp)
-keypad freezes (specially on whatsaap when you toggle for character type) making it very annoying to keep a conversation. Switching to browser to use keypad and going back some times unfreezes the keypad thought.
-loudspeaker (call sim1 or multimedia) doesn't work, all audio goes trough the call speaker only
thanks!

going to test asap!
-shouldn't you change the name of the file for havoc 2.9.2 or something?
(I just did that on my downloaded files so I don't get confused around my tested and untested rom's folder)
-TWRP version could have any impact on my bugs?
for some reason I can't use "TWRP 3.5 or 3.4 j7popltespr" (it doesn't boot),
but "TWRP 3.2.3 twrpbuilder" seems to works fine
PS. SD card got corrupted during this process
but after flashing phone back to stock ROM the SD was working again with no data loss

That fixed the problem! Thanks!
It seems I was using a wrong TWRP....
Most of the bugs I mentioned before are gone\fixed (loudspeaker, whatsapp keypad, sdcard).
except the video recording with the "opencamera" app (recorded videos are unplayable with messed up time lapse),
I tried also "HD camera" app from playstore with same problem.
But if I record video directly through whatsapp videos are ok.
Everything else seems working fine thought, stable and fast !
are you planning to work\fix the "(HW Keys (Use NavBar instead)" bug?
I Will keep using this rom for now, great job @ichbinahmet !
