Unlock bootloader or sim? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Hi,
I have a N975F from the company Orange, this company does not usually have updates up to date (I still expect Android 10).
My question is, what would be better, unlock the bootloader and install a rom, or release the phone to install an official firmware?
Thx!

If your main interest is getting an official update, then unlock the carrier

With unlocking carrier will not fix slow updates. You have to change CSC to BTU or something similar. Google it.

I have seen that some say that some say they have lost call-wifi and others who doing a backup with samsung switch, keep it. Why?

I am from Spain with the Orange company (N975F/DS), is there no way to know if I will have a problem with free firmware?
Debranded rom is the same as unlock carrier?

This would be the guide I need to follow?
I come from an XZ1 thanks for the help!!

Debrand not same as carrier unlock.
If I'm correct for Spain Sim Free variant firmware is PHE.

RCS messaging for U1 on T-Mobile?

I am running unlocked firmware on the T-Mobile network, which I prefer over T-Mobile firmware for many reasons. The only feature I feel as though I'm missing from the T-Mobile firmware is RCS messaging. Does anyone have insight on how that could be activated on the unlocked firmware?
Thanks in advance!
You need to be on the T-Mobile CSC, basically no way to do it without being on T-Mobile firmware.
Flash the newest TMO CSC and CP it should be under cloud and accounts in settings 'multi line settings'

If you do that, won't it return the T-Mobile boot and disable smart call, effectively restoring T-Mobile firmware? I believe that's the case, and if so, not worth it IMHO.
Thank you, though

Just flash the G955U1UEU1AQG2 Firmware and keep the Tmobile modem. You then have an unbranded phone with RCS and smart call. I got to keep my video calling, though from what I read, your mileage may vary on video calling.
the thread I followed Here
Unless I'm reading you wrong and you're not using a Tmo S8+.
What do you gain by flashing back Tmobile cp/CSC?

I did exactly what others are suggesting a few weeks ago...flashed the U1 XAA firmware and just the TMB CP file. While most everything worked, RCS did not, and in fact I couldn't send/receive MMSs from my girlfriend who also has a TMB U model. I had to flash the TMB CSC to get it all working again, which yes means you are then stuck with the T-Mobile splash screen and you no longer have the native scam blocking, and at the same time the T-Mobile Name ID app for scam blocking doesn't work, That being said, you can still use dialer codes to get T-Mobile's scam blocking to work. It's not the native Samsung s**t, but it works.
To enable Scam ID or Scam Block and check their statuses:
#ONI# (#664#) – Enable Scam ID
#ONB# (#662#) – Enable Scam Block
#OFB# (#632#) – Disable Scam Block
#STS# (#787#) – Check Scam Block enabled status
Thanks for that! Yes I tried the above too. No RCS unless on T-Mobile firmware (flashing CSC counts as the same!). Unlocked/unbranded firmware isn't worth giving up for RCS and video calling imo!
The rcs messaging was working for me with Samsung messages app, but I recently got a android wear watch and it wanted me to use android messages (Google's messaging app NOT Samsung's) and rcs doesn't work? I guess that's just part of it?
I can not long see the other person has read the message, or when they are typing while I'm using Google Android message app.

AT&T Branded Galaxy S9 SM-G960U - Can not enable WiFi Calling using T-Mobile Sim

Hello everyone,
Yes, I'm a noob here but online research, etc. tells me that XDA is the place for me. I am a IT tech, just not a programmer nor have I done a lot with flashing phones, etc.
based on some basic searching my issues seems to be common.
I am a T-Mobile user and I now have a new AT&T Branded Galaxy S9 SM-G960U. I paid a third party to provide me with a Samsung unlock code. I unlocked the phone last night, had T-Mobile update my account with my new Nano Sim, etc.
All is working except I can not enable WiFi Calling and of course there are some advanced text messaging features that I can not enable, i.e. sent receipts, etc. I tested the phone with a active AT&T sim and the features work fine.
Does anyone have a work around for getting WiFi calling and text features to work using the T-Mobile Sim?
Do I need to some how flash a T-Mobile ROM to the phone?
Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated
it will never work because is att brand. you needed to get international model.
I'm not so sure.......... I have the SM-960u1 and have flashed various AT&T FW to it at least 50 times and cannot get any IMS features to work. I get get the ATT bloatware, software, splash screen. But no VoLTE, WiFi Calling etc. I am tired of flashing. Back to Stock U1 for me.
AT&T is the same. They keep promising wifi calling for unlocked phones but I can't get it and neither can 2 others I know with unlocked phones.
This sounds normal. I have an AT&T branded Galaxy S6, which has wifi calling, but I'm using a MintMobile (T-Mobile) SIM. Wifi Calling is grayed out. There's probably some sort of check in the software that only enables the wifi calling if you are using an AT&T sim.
Yes, you have to flash the T-Mobile firmware with the latest modded Odin, or the unlocked U1 variant firmware (for which TMO's RCS messaging and video calling won't work-with U1 firmware, I mean). If you flash the TMO firmware, it's for all intents and purposes turning the phone into aTMO phone, with bootscreen, bloat and all.

You will need to flash to the U1 Firmware then Flash the T-Mobile firmware. AT&T's Wifi Calling is proprietary and thus their phones software won't work with other Carrier's Wifi Calling.

VoLTE not funcional with S9 Exynos

Hi there, greetings from Brazil. I just purchased a Samsung S9 SM-960F (XEF) from France, running Exynos. I am being able to use it here (Brazil) with 4G, both sim cards, however VoLTE calls are not active. I have it selected on networks settings and my sim card activates it on my wife's S10e. It seems that the issue is somehow related to the device. Is there any setting or procedure that needs to be done in order to activate it? I have already hard reseted the device and it is still not working.

voLTE is something that is carrier dependent and can sometimes need provisioning in the telephony switch. Could be as simple as that particular line not having it enabled on an account level. It could very easily be a firmware thing too. My carrier offers voLTE but i lost that option in my settings menu when i flashed the U1 firmware. I bet it would come back if i flashed an at&t firmware set tho even tho im using an at&t mvno
It is carrier dependent. I have a dual SIM Exynos S9 here in the US. I have a Mint SIM (T-Mobile MVNO) in one slot and VoLTE & Wi-Fi calling work just fine. The other SIM is a Cricket SIM (AT&T MVNO) and, of course, there is no VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling on that line. Cricket only supports those features in phones they sell and, of course, iPhones.
Yeap, I got the point that VoLTE is carrier dependent. The issue is that my Brazilian Carrier (VIVO) does support VoLTE in my region and I was able to confirm it by inserting my simcard in my wife´s smartphone (Samsung S10e). I have been reading some articles and threads about CSC and other stuff, like firmware flashing. As I told, my device is a S9 SM-G960, with XEF (France) firmware version installed on it.

if the S10e is allowing voLTE, then it has the firmware built in for voLTE which might be particular to the the S10's, but thats something for the S10 forums. Regarding the S9, it needs the carriers firmware in order to utilize the voLTE feature

S10+ unlocked version Snapdragon to Tmobile US version.

Sure, but you will have to reset your phone to load up the software with your Tmobile sim in it.
Is it possible? Yes. Do you need to? No.
Tmobile (unlike other carriers) doesn't differentiate features between U (carrier) and U1. So things like VOLTE, WiFi Calling, etc all work on U1. On ATT you lose wifi calling, "enhanced messaging" etc.
So unless there's some specific reason you wanted to run U versus U1, I'd stay with what you have. U1 has been updating faster for Jan and Feb patches as well.
Enhanced messages is not working for me. Video calling on the stock dialer is not available. This is with T-Mobile US.

SM-N975U1 Signal Issue

Hello everyone,
I bought Galaxy Note 10+ (SM-N975U1). I'm using it in Germany.
I found out recently that my Phone is US-Version with CSC Code XAA/XAA/VZW.
Is the CSC Code the cause for my bad signal?
Can someone confirm it?
I searched everywhere, how to change the CSC. But it looks like without Root or unlocked Bootlader it is not possible.
After my research my phone is not possible to be unlocked. (FYI it has Bootlader Version 7)
Is there something I can do or I missed it.
I would appreciate every help. Thank you

The CSC is set to unbranded based on what you're showing. Do you know which bands you are trying to pick up that are not working? The issue is even if CSC can be changed "which it can", it will only change to US carriers primarily.
Who's your carrier?

I have no data connection inside building.
Sometimes my phone can't be used for calls. It show "Only Emergency Call".
My wife has the same provider like me, she has full 4G reception or at least 2G.
