[Q&A] Nokia 6.1 Issues after Android 10 - Solutions ? - Nokia 6.1 (2018) Questions & Answers

Hi,
I would like to create this thread to mention the problems and issues with the update of Android 10 for Nokia 6.1 and we can share some solution for those.

From experience, after doing an OS update, it would be best to make a backup and then a total restart

Buggs with Android 10 on Nokia 6.1 :
- Noise in Audio
- Sometimes UI laggs
- Google Camera work only one every device restart
- Random self restart
- Can't adjust Equalizer

I faced this issue too, waiting for correctif from Nokia

Hello, due to the refusal in this update (Android 10) I have decided not to update, I am still in Android 8 (Oreo), I am doing the right thing ?? ... this team sent it to me two months ago, it is new .. the battery lasts a long time, I do not feel lag or anything, which you advise, on the other hand what is the GCAM version for Oreo? and it is also possible to be able to update to AndroidPie (9) through some file, etc ...
greetings colleagues
JC

Edit: nothing

Same bug here: The black screen is still happening (any time I open or unlock my phone, it's screen is black, then my usual stuff shows up)
I also have the error, every time I start my Nokia 6.1 the data is automatically activated, what is this? HDM Nokia please as well as we trust to buy this device we need to solve all the inconveniences in Android10, it is worth mentioning: In Android9 Pie noooooooooooooooo this happened!

Is there a remedy for frequent restart after Android 10 update?

Since I updated to Android 10 OTA Update,my Nokia 6.1 is experiencing frequent restarts whenever I try to attend a call or play a video or audio.I posted my this problem in this forum. But nobody didn't help me. So I went to the Nokia Service Centre and requested them to downgrade the Firmware to Android 9.On examining the phone they informed me the battery has become weak. That is why the frequent restart occurs when try to attend a call or play video or audio. The weak battery is because of O T A Update to Android 10.Many such complaints have come to them. So I have to replace the battery now.Anyway I got a new battery and Firmware is got downgraded to Android 9 and they charged me RS.1300.What a horrible experience with Nokia and also with the Nokia 6.1 forum users!!!

Review on the New Lollipop Update to Moto 360

I got an update this morning and was very excited as soon as I booted up after downloading the new update file.
1. Nothing was pretty much interesting as far as lollipop for wear is concerned as compared to lollipop for Phones and Tablets. No vibrant colors, no extended settings, ,
2. Accessibility option has been included which I personally don't care of.
3. Battery Drain - More (To be frank - Worse) than the previous KitKat version. Almost drained 30% (might differ from one to other) with minimal use in 4 hours which would last 8-9 hours with KitKat.
This is the review of my Moto 360. I'd better stick to previous version if I were to suggest and would wait for some patches or stable fixes to the battery issues and some decent vibrancy to the watch. Please do provide your feedback on your Motos.
Thank You.
Do you run Lollipop on your Android device?
I think it'd also be beneficial if anyone posted their reviews with device model + OS version.
I haven't gotten my 360 update yet, but I'll post mine (phone is Lollipop 5.0.1) once I do.
I got my update yesterday. Running HTC M8 GPE on 5.0.1. Battery life hasn't been much different for me, but the voice recognition is terrible now. That was during my initial testing last night. I have upgraded to the latest google play services on apkmirror since then and have yet to test the voice recognition this morning. I'm at work and won't really have time to test it out without looking like a lunatic in my quiet office. until later. I'll report back hopefully.
I got the update here in the Philippines last morning.
The battery is terrible but after I uninstall Facer the battery is normal again.
The notifications is now manageable, I can use priority when I'm busy, show all when I'm not doing anything or none when asleep.
Sunlight mode and the theater mode is OK but not useful for me.
App priority is the best for me, especially when a specific application is being used frequently it makes me stopped using the wear app launcher (though this app is not working at the moment).

It is not necessary to have a mobile running Lolllipop OS. Because, I'm on 4.4.3 right now .
I'd suggest you to do the following steps
1. Settings---->Apps---->Moto Connect----->Clear Data and Cache
2. Uninstall your Android Wear App
3. Reset your Moto 360.
4. Install Android Wear Again
5. Pair both of the devices.
6. Check for Updates. Now you should be all set with a update notification.

Never said you needed Lollipop, but when reviewing it would be good to know what OS is on the device (and model) and such. Because you may have a variance in behavior, etc, between the OS' and integration of components. As AW5 and the Lollipop Tablet/Phone OS were designed to work together we may see differences in performance (.ie battery life like the user above mentioned) depending on the OS combination, installed components, etc, when compared to 4.4.X devices. Also, since companies have a tendency to bloat up software a bit knowing what phone / OS combination might help too if X users have problem and others don't on the same OS it could be a piece of software talking (.ie Facer was DESTROYING battery performance w/ their most recent update the other day due to changes made for AW5).
So if 10 users have 4.4.X devices and have one performance issue/etc, and 10 users have 5.0.X devices and do NOT have that issue... it helps us with useful information on thigns you may see, based on the users review, if you have a similar setup.
Also that didn't work for me. I tried it last night. Hence why I'm still waiting.
Are you using Facer? Have you switched to the Facer for Android 5 face on the watch yet?
see-> http://www.reddit.com/r/Facer/comments/2p2in2/battery_life_android_wear_5_duplicate_watchfaces/
When you receive Android Wear 5, please switch to the other Facer watchface. It should be called "Facer for Android Wear 5." Please note there was an issue with the names and an update is rolling out that fixes the names.[/qoute[

I got the update too. The biggest problem is that it stops notifying from time to time and requires a restart. Battery life seems as good as before.
I have the same problem with notification. It stops and I need to restart the watch.
Voice recognition is almost absolutely worthless now with new update. I try to send a text.. Doesnt recognize the "send command", let alone string it all together in one phrase "send text to (contact's name) hello." which is said as "send text to john hello period"
I have to now say each part of the command separately. "send text" to whom? "john" message? "Hello" and when I said period, before it would put a period, now it spells out period.
There really is not difference with this new update, except there were some bugs with facer/watch maker syncing.
Battery life is the same. Im running Lg g2 5.0 alpha build and battery seems fine.
Also, when i delete an email through Gmail on my watch, it vibrates confirming it was deleted. I dont like this very much, and wish it could be turned off. The new option "tilt to wake screen" seems to make the screen turn on very easily, just by rotating your wrist instead of lifting and rotating your arm. This is good and bad. Good it makes it easier to get the screen to come on without such a defined motion. Bad because I found it turning on when i didnt want to (typing, driving, doing daily tasks, etc). Which i would think will waste more battery.
How do i get my update i reset it like 4 times still nothing ?
How can you give an opinion on battery life when you've had the update less than a day. The download and install process alone take a large chunk of power then you have to take into account settle in time and you playing with it more than usual to see what's changed.
Updated last night, connected to my stock rooted Note 3 (4.4.4)
Using watchmaker
Battery last night was horrible.
left for work this morning at 6am and I am at 75% right now at 3pm. Been getting notifications all day long at least a 4 or more per hour.
I have not had a chance to test speech Recognition yet, besides "ok Google" a few times.
So far been very happy with update.
What are your settings? Tilt and ambient settings?

Anyone else struggling with consistent voice recognition?
Update has been perfect for me. Batter life is still amazing. Have about 60% left after 10 hours off charger getting at least 8 notifications an hour. Not including phones calls ( 3 and hour give or take).

Windows 10 Mobile TH2 on Lumia 1320

Does anyone uses the TH2 Build 10586 on a Lumia 1320? How do you compare it to 8.1?
If you like it more as 8.1, can you also capture a FieldMedic trace (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/field-medic/9wzdncrfjb82, https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/windows/hardware/dn757517(v=vs.85).aspx) of some activity (scrolling on start/All Apps, switching/resuming ad closing apps, using Edge to browse xda) and share it. I would like to compare it to the data from 8.1.
ok, I installed 10586.164 on my 1320 and it runs ok. I can't see why MS doesn't officially releases it.
It does an Okay-ish Job on my 1320. But after i installed Redstone using the guide here, it runs really great!
I'll update to Redstone if it is released as stable. What is your battery life?
About page lumia 1320
Someone please can you send me one of image lumia 1320 (with windows 10 mobile) about page. I'm having trouble updating. Sorry for my bad English.
When I did the update, I installed the Insider App and selected the Release Preview Ring and checked for Updates and got 10586.107 and next the 164. Which issue do you have?
.164 runs quite well on my 1320 (apart from the battery consumption which is still better than previous builds). Currently downloading .218 (lucky there is still the branch for 10586). Hopefully that brings more stability.
The apps on Windows Mobile 10 are much better than Windows Phone 8.1 (especially Office). The settings are far organized and the Start Menu definitely looks cleaner with the smaller borders.
It did freeze once a day for me, but i realized that some apps did that and not in general (like hitting back continuously on Share. It - which i have now un-installed). Also, after the upgrade it is advisable to do a hard reset (it has made the OS much more stable - I had rolled back thrice as it was freezing a lot more before i tried doing a hard reset).
I can finally use my device as a daily driver (on .164 .. will be checking how much .218 improves or breaks it )

Please tell if .218 brings better battery and if there are still freezing problems.
Updating to 218 was very slow. The 1320 had a hang at the nokia logo and I thought I bricked it, but after 1 hour the gears show up and the progressbar increases.
@EmanuelManole
When I get a freeze, the next boot Windows tells me to scan the SD card. Do you also use a SD card?

Yes, so you are still facing freezing problems even with .218...
with the .164 and now .218 I had one freeze (right after Windows reinstalled all apps after updating).

I think my SD card is the issue. I'll try to get a different one and see what happens when next Build arrives next month. You should also try a different SD card

Yes the freezing problem still exists (though i get it mostly 1-2 times a day if you hit back a lot of times to close apps). I guess it is related firmware for which there is not going to be any support.
Battery does seem about 10% better than .164 but not close to 8.1 (i should be able to get a better idea after a couple of days of use).
Overall, the resuming of apps seems to be a bit faster and the lags in EDGE seem to have been fixed.
The jitter when you change music on the lockscreen is there, but the fix for that is in the RedStone build since it needed some core OS fixes.
So to sum it, its not a huge improvement over .164 but hey any improvement is better than nothing. Unfortunately, Ive used W10M a little too much to go back to WP8.1. The UI is far better for both OS and its apps in W10M. Guess eventually will need to move to a new phone.

Ive tried multiple SD cards and without SD card too. Still with my usage it freezes about 1-2 times a day and needs reboot. During the update I need to remove the SD card when its at the moving gears and re-insert it when it reboots and the migration starts. This was the updates are smooth without hangs or delays or needing a forced reboot.
Also, from my personal experience, doing a hard reset after getting to .164 from 8.1 reduced the freezes considerably. Before the hard reset it was freezing every couple of hours or so. After the hard reset its down to 1 or 2 times a day (with the same apps installed as 8.1 and the same usage). I do miss the battery backup though.

Too bad...i think this was our only chance to have w10 mobile on 1320 without having any problems. Think it's time to put some money under the pillow and buy a new phone.

Upgrade to Nougat already? Hows it working for you?

For those who have upgraded already, how did the upgrade process go and how are you liking it so far?
This is a big upgrade and I'm nervous about pulling the trigger until this is vetted out a bit.
Chris
The process went well. I had to play with the display resolution and zoom to get things looking right. I had to re install my theme store theme to get it back. Other than that, it runs great. Only a few apps not compatible with n. But I have like 400 apps. So not bad! Oh yes, I did need a couple of reboots too.
Sweet! Well... having to go five steps back first was a PITA but when finished (and thank God for the Samsung Cloud Backup System - I had just done a backup three days before this project and it saved my arse!) Once I finished the AT&T OTA of QB2, I did a Restore from the Samsung Cloud and the phone looked EXACTLY like it had with Nougat PL4! Desktop, Apps, (most) settings... awesome!
Going good, process went smooth. I'd just say plug up and stay plugged during upgrade
Just did the upgrade. I have to say guys, this was BY FAR the smoothest stock upgrade I've ever experienced from Samsung. They did a nice job on this.
I'm just running into the issue of UI Lag. The update went smooth enough though. I will also say I am having issue with video playback in chrome if I flip to fullscreen then the ability to control the video is gone and i cant minimize it i have to hit the home key to get out of the video.
I just finished installing QB2. Everything works smoothly except one annoying bug. The Activity Zone app launch not in full screen. It's like 70% of the screen. I tried to change the display resolution but the same.
Anyone having the same issue?

Yes, it launch in full screen but the content of the app is not. Please see attached picture. Do you have the same?
It was full screen in marshmallow
That is quite strange, my Activity Zone is full screen, do you have your Zoom function under "Display" set to small?
Upgrade went smooth , i did it manually and not OTA , all working good with good battery life.
What i did is as follows :
1- Odin the PI2 as a base line
2- Then via recovery from the device I used "update from SD card" and upgraded to PK2
3- Then i did it again via recovery from the device I used "update from SD card" and upgraded to QB2
Download the needed files from the following thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-active/how-to/s7-active-sm-g891a-ota-updates-firmware-t3540866
I updated to the BQB2 build via OTA about a week after it became available. I'm generally pleased with it, but there are a few things here and there that make me think that perhaps I'm due for a factory reset and start over.
Battery life is slightly down for me, which doesn't match up with reports I'm hearing from others. It's not much lower, but it's noticeable.
UI seems to be slightly more 'laggy'. Reduced the animation scales in the dev options to compensate. Maybe because I was running 'Good Lock' when the update happened?
Seems like wifi connection is not 100% stable. I see the notification bar 'flicker' from time to time, and it keeps re-posting the notification about what network I'm connected to.
Seems to get warmer while charging wirelessly, to the point that it pauses the wireless charging. But, this is in a cradle in my car, with Waze running, and it's warmer than it had been for a few months so not really sure if the update is involved in this or not.
Probably one or two other smaller things that I'm not thinking of at the moment. Obviously they weren't showstoppers, since I can't recall right now.
I like that they included the mobile hotspot toggle again (finally!), but they still don't have a 'mobile data' one. System UI Tuner is still gone, although I've read some people think that's the case with Nougat in general, so not sure.
All that being said, it updated to the BQC2 build today. The wifi thing seems to be resolved, despite this being only a 'security update'. I'll let it shake out for a few days or so and see if I still think it's worthwhile to start all over.
Went smooth for me, took literally less then 2 minutes.
All my apps/settings are working flawlessly and I experienced no issues thus far.
I updated to Nougat since it was released and I can't say I'm happy. Battery looks slightly worse and at least 1 or 2 twice a week my phone slows down getting almost unresponsive. I have to restart it.
That never happened with Marshmallow. I'll try it for one more month and if not I will go back to Marshmallow. Is that still possible?
That is a good question. I know that with small version upgrades the phone keeps the original version stored for a full wipe, but on a big OS upgrade I am not sure. Hopefully someone will know. I want to say yes it can be done.
Im on QD4, loving Noguat at how quick it is. But, i hate how all the menus and settings are all bunched and i have use search to find basic things.
I actually am having some issues with my s7 active I installed the 7.0 update a few months back and never looked back because the 7.0 stock rooms great no issues except recently last week's my phone started rebooting on its own . I though no biggie cause it did every once in a while , but now it has greatly increased . What happen was it froze on Facebook messenger app when I was trying to reply to a message and would not unfreeze so I had too force restart it that is when the problems really begun. The moment I force restarted it and it rebooted and i got into hone screen i keep getting notifications that apps were crashing over and over and the phone decided to restart on its own and keep doing the same thing . So I was like wtf maybe it's a app or something so I decided to do a factory reset and clear cache and rebooted the phone looked like that fixed the problem for a whole 2 minutes then the crashing of apps and random restarts . I was tired so.i was like ok I just turned the phone off and notice that it was kinda warm and decided to go to bed and mess with it tomorrow . So when I woke up I booted the phone up and it was acting normal no crashing or anything no reboots but after 2 hours it randomly started rebooting and sometimes the apps crash bit currently the phone is working but i get random freezes and reboots all day . I have tried searching for a solution but no luck. Some people claim its a app but when I have no apps Installed and it still does it its not a app problem . Some people say it could be the mother board flus faulting out or bad battery can't send it in for repair cause I bought the phone off eBay. Is anyone else having these issues and know of a fix maybe thanks sorry for the long post.
Upgraded to BQB2 a week ago, I am very happy with everything, it's smoother, faster and manages RAM better (well I was Rooted on 6.0.1 so it was laggy) all my apps work perfectly and I've disabled many things with Package Disabler Pro, I've been testing running music, google maps chrome, whatsapp, messenger, face all at the same time, very smooth BUT I must say it does drain battery much faster than before.
Now my phone wont make it through the day, it even drains on standby, I've already flashed 7.0 twice and wiped cache, I'm still, thinking if I will keep this or go back to 6.
Yesterday alone, my battery went from 89% at 1:30am to 52% at 10:30am, only on standby. When I check Battery use my com.android.systemui is the one eating up most of it, I even set my resolution low to HD. If anybody has a solution, any help would surely be appreciated, I don't wanna go back to Marshmellow, but if I must......
Upgraded and everything was fine apparently, then I saw the huge battery drain, tried averything I found and decided to go back to marshmallow.

Redmi note 8 pro - android 10 bugs

Not at all stable to use as daily driver.
1 - No notifications after some times when the phone is ideal you have to open the app, like they are in deep sleep. gave all permissions like auto start, battery restriction none, no data restrictions.
2 - Bluetooth earphones gets disconnected randomly, usually when you lock unlock the device.
3 - Wifi speed degrade when you use Bluetooth and wifi at the same time.
4 - whatsapp video call are still lagging, connecting issue, other phones on the same network works fine.
5 - Battery backup degraded by at least 30%
6 - camera quality is noticeably degraded.
7 - fast charging not working with tbe official charger as well
and there are many more.
please post your work around for this bugs, it will be helpful as xiaomi is not going to launch any update sooner looking at ter track records.
I think you need to do a factory reset.
Battery is exactly the same for me as Android 9.
Camera quality is the same too.
Fast charging works for me with default charger.
Don't know about the rest.

Already did reset 3 times, thought my old google backup setting is the issue, even after setting up without restoring the backup this issues are there, specially the notification, Bluetooth and wifi issue.
I didn't noticed that many problems like you, only the battery performance lost, I went from 10 hours of screen on time, to around 6-7, factory reset from recovery didn't help, but that was enough reason for me to dare to unlock the bootloader, so I went back to MIUI 11.0.3 based on android 9, now I have my 10 hours of screen on time and I'm more than happy, the only feature I miss from android 10, was the wifi dynamic MAC address
So have you downgraded back to android 9
Can you please help me how to do so
Can't we download android 9 package from mi website and install as package in update settings?

1. Not happening here.
2. Also not happening.
3. This is normal if you use 2.4Ghz wifi + bluetooth, wifi always slow - READ WHY
4. This is Whatsapp issue, not phone specific. Try other such as Line or Duo. I only found lags on Whatsapp.
5, 6, 7. Not happening to me.
About battery, try flashing old one via Mi Flash > flash & clean all (don't lock back).

i am talking about Indian variant, various users have already raised this issues, also mi developers had confirm this notification issue and forwarded it to there developers.
2 - this was not there before day i switched to andorid 10 even after reseting 2 times i am facing this issue
3 - This wasnt the thing on android 9 that is the problem
4 - tried telegram duo, even the calls are not coming. forget about mesgs.
6 - this is also confirmed by many users
I'm in last version and Android 10 but don't have any of this problems in my phone! Performance is better than Android 9 and everything is fine! You must do a factory reset to fix this problems.
I am also on android 10 on the indian variant and I can confirm that the 1st issue which is about no notifications after some time is happening to me also. Although I don't know about the rest. About charging and battery backup, I think it is same as before.

I'm only facing the notification issue mentioned in the tread. Everything same, miui 11.0.2 android 10. All settings tested. Also tried pnf app. No use. Another symptom is when I open WhatsApp all the messages are delivered only then. Have allowed it to run in background, disabled power saving, all notification allowed, auto start permission given.
anyone noticing bluetooth mac is changed to 00:00:46:00:00:01?
maybe this causing the bluetooth disconnection issue?
I just noticed it on both of my RN8pro running Indonesian fw Android 10.
Mine upgraded yesterday throught OTA to MIUI 11.0.4(QGGIXM)/Andorid 10.
I came from the Andoird 9 and everything was good, but after the upgrade my GPS in Dual Space and Second Space can´t lock my postion.
Tried to hard reset 3 times and reflashed this ROM manualy and nohing. I still have the bootloader locked and can´t downgrade now.
I made some tests using app GPS test, in te upper screen is the "normal" app and in the bottom s the dual app that can´t lock the GPS, same thing happens in the second space.
After search a lot, people say that is better to downgrade, so anyone have this issue here or a solution for it?

I can confirm the wifi/BT bug, and it sucks!
How does Xiaomi get the feedback on this bugs? Is there still testing even though this is the "stable" version?

No, not yet. It is a pain and I will do it if it is really necessary, I'm not sure if that would work. Anyway I saw the link that someone posted earlier that this kind of interference is a common problem; I never new about it or noticed it. On my PC there is some slowing down also, but not as dramatic as on the RN8P.

So basically it is common problem for all phones or even all device's?
Is it worse on A10 that on A9?

It is very common (if you use 2.4GHz WiFi); you'd need beamforming to get over it. But not all devices are the same - it depends on device quality and antenna separation (for example, laptops with Intel/Killer wifi modules are much less affected by it, while Raspberry Pis are having serious trouble doing both at the same time).
Of course, this only applies in 2.4GHz. Switch to 5GHz, and you'll have no more problems.
When to do factory reset? After updating or before updating?

Going back to Android 9

After OTA update to Android 10,I am facing frequent Restarts. So I want to go back to Android 9.I have not unlocked the Bootloader nb and not rooted the phone. So how can I go back to Android 9 without rooting?
Since no response to my above request,I went to the Nokia Service Centre and requested them to downgrade the Firmware to Android 9.On examining the phone they informed me the battery has become weak. That is why the frequent restart occurs when try to attend a call or play video or audio. The weak battery is because of O T A Update to Android 10.Many such complaints have come to them. So I have to replace the battery now.Anyway I got a new battery and Firmware is got downgraded to Android 9 and they charged me RS.1300.What a horrible experience with Nokia!!!

Hey Buddy did changing of battery fixed your issue, I too have similar issue when the phone internal speaker is used for audio output the device reboots. If no audio play it runs well without any issue and also battery values are so inconsistent.
