Tasker: Auto DND mode while driving (Like Pixel phones) - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

While I love my 7T, I still missing a feature from my Pixel 4 XL phone: The auto DND mode while driving. Is it possible somehow to use e.g. Tasker to auto enable DND while driving and then after a while stopped the car (e.g. 10 mins or so) disable DND mode again? Does such a profile already exists?
Thanks

I think create a profile that triggers the DND while your phone is connected with the car's BT and disable it after putting a Wait for 10 mins. If you are familiar with Tasker then you can create this profile very easily. If this is not you meant then please let me know.

Oh, then my suggestion won't work. But may I know in your Pixel phone how does it trigger the DND while driving? How does it know that you are driving?

It's a part of the DND on Pixels running Android 9 and above. Recently it's become a part of the Google Play Services. You just simply add it as a DND profile and then you can set the properties.
I guess it knows when you drive above 20 km/h and when you've stopped moving for about 7-10 minutes it disables the DND driving profile if it was already disabled.

A little like it works on iOS devices. Quite simple and genious, I kind of like it. Set and forget ?

I think it is a Pixel only feature and that is built into it. I couldn't find it in my phone. So I think there's no way to automatically turn it on at present. Lemme check if it can be done using Tasker or any plugin.
EDIT: Yes, just read that it is a Pixel only feature.

No clue. I don't see why the change was mandatory. I only know of this due to Android Police writing this up earlier today:

It's not a problem if it's an intended feature. The idea is that you don't have alerts, notifications, etc. going off in your ear, speakerphone, car stereo while on a phone call.

Aaaa ok.
clever google
When I initially experienced this feature I thought it was a neat idea. Then it started having problems turning off automatically. Now I find that 25% of the time it just doesn't turn off automatically and I miss notifications as a result. This issue persists though restarts, resets, and two devices so far. Using the 128gb Pixel. I have tried to adjust the DND rules so that I don't miss them. As a result of those changes I made, I can get phone calls but at least Google Voice messages through Hangouts still don't work until I manually turn it off. I don't remember the phone buzzing in my ear on any of the recent phones I have owned.... Even if this was an intended feature, the fact it can't be turned off is causing me to have pay an unusual amount of attention to my phone coming in and out of calls to make sure I'll continue to be reachable.

Phone goes into Do Not Disturb mode on its own

I'm having issues, my phone goes into "Do Not Disturb" mode on it's own. I think it has something to do with the Android wear connection to my watch. I've reset the watch and checked to make sure it isn't set to turn on that mode. But still at random times my phone goes quiet. Curious to hear if anyone has had the same issue or a cure. Thanks!
yes i have the same issue with pixel xl & Huawei watch 🤔

I have the same issue as well. It also happens on calls.
It's a new feature in 7.1.1
You have to disable the automatic rules that are created in settings. I just deleted all the premade ones in there and my issue went away.

I have an Android Wear watch and have the same problem. Are you saying the deleting the built-in Weekend, Weeknight, and Event rules fixed it for you?

I have done this too and my phone goes into DnD mode when I make or take phone calls. It becomes an issue when I get off the phone about 50% of the time it stays in DnD mode and I have to manually turn DnD mode off. Anyone found a work around for this yet?
I posted this to fix it. Its a hidden menu https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/how-to/how-to-off-disturb-section-using-volume-t3598695
Has anyone solved this? My Pixel XL keeps turning DND on when I've manually turned it off. I do not use a smart watch or any other accessory. And I have already deleted the single Automatic Rule which I programmed (my phone didn't come with any pre-installed rules). I'm a doctor and keep missing super-important phone calls because my phone isn't ringing. (It's sitting in a cradle on my desk, charging -- so I know I'm not accidentally hitting the volume down button.)
Thanks!

The only sure fire way, if you're sure it's not an app you installed or setting you set, is to factory reset including wiping system OR flashing stock via fastboot. I mean technically if you had the time and you didn't wanna do all that you could boot the phone into safe mode, then wait and see if it does the same thing. If it doesn't , you know it's an app you have installed.

DND Issue

Hey guys, so I have a issue with DND and playing audio on my m9 simultaneously. I can't seem to play music and not receive any notifications at the same time. I don't want my phone to vibrate i.e be engaged in silent mode and be able to play music at the same time. I've browsed through quite a bit on the Internet but to no avail. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out and sort this as soon as possible. If it helps, I'm on Android 7 Nougat :fingers-crossed:
Try turning DND ON. Don't use priority mode.

With this chipset? It works fine with my Chevy Malibu.

Its been a bit buggy when using the 'phone as a display for me. On a head unit it seems OK.
Works fine for me, every now and then it doesn't automatically close when I disconnect from my car (2011 Mazda 3, so using the phone as the display). 100% auto-start, 90% auto-close.
I've started using Android Auto on my phone when driving. I don't have a head unit that supports it - I'm just using the phone's screen. I haven't had problems with it except for occasionally when it won't shut down when I disconnect from the car as Seamonkey described above. But that is pretty rare.
I also found that sometimes the app would close normally, but the Do Not Disturb mode stayed on. This was extra frustrating because it usually took awhile before I noticed it. To be honest, when I first started using AA I didn't know that AA turned DND on automatically. What a dumb thing to require! I understand the idea behind it, but at least let me opt out of the setting! I ended up writing a tasker profile to turn DND off when the app is opened, and also turn DND off when the app is closed (just as a safety measure).

Setting Do Not Disturb time

I thought Samsung would already have this baked in coming from a Pixel phone but I used to be able to set Do not Disturb for say 1 hour if I was in meeting and only wanted notifications off during a set amount of time. It looks like it's all or nothing on the Note 10 though. Is there a way to address this that I am missing?

Interesting thought. I have the Galaxy Watch and on swipe down, when you tap do not disturb it asks you how long... but it doesn't appear to be on the phone itself. So in my case the watch must turn it back of at the specified duration. I wonder what happens if the phone loses the Bluetooth connection then to the watch? Implementation was only thought through half-way?

It looks like it's been added to Android 10 now since I installed it so all good.
