Hey guys a couple of days ago I asked for help on the Spanish official xiaomi forum but no one could help me so I'm asking you for help.
For the last one to two months Whatsapp calls have stopped vibrating when do not disturb (DND) mode is enabled even though I have my phone configured to let through any calls from anyone. It worked perfectly from Android Oreo till now but it recently stopped behaving as expected.
Regular phone calls work fine with DND enabled:
- If the phone is in ring mode, it rings and vibrates.:good:
- If the mobile is in vibrate mode, it only vibrates. :good:
- If the mobile is in silent mode, it does do not ring nor vibrate.:good:
WhatsApp calls used to work just like regular phone calls when DND is on, but now:
- If the mobile is in ring mode, it rings BUT DOES NOT VIBRATE.:crying:
- If the mobile is in vibrate mode, it DO NOT VIBRATE.:crying:
- If the mobile is silent, it does not ring nor vibrate.:good:
I have not changed any settings on DND for the behavior to change, it change by it's own.
I'm running stock Android Pie with latest January OTA security patch. No fancy commands or advanced things like you guys do on this forum.
Here are some attached screenshots of my settings: WhatsApp has vibration enabled for calls, phone is set to vibrate for incoming calls and DND is set up to let any calls through.

I contacted WhatsApp support and they replied that:
"The vibrations that you find within WhatsApp work differently based on what type of device you are using. For all devices, if your phone is set to vibration mode and your WhatsApp vibration settings are off, the phone setting will override the WhatsApp settings. In other words, your phone will still vibrate or vice versa.
Note that manufacturers may have their own unique vibration settings that may interfere with the WhatsApp notifications. We have no way to control this from our end.".
Given that Xiaomi had been ignoring my bug reports in the Feedback app, does someone have any ideas on who is right and how (if possible) can I fix it. I really use DND because it's a really great feature, I think calls are more urgent than messages.
Also, I tried it in a friend's Mi A2 lite too and I could replicate it on WhatsApp, telegram and signal voice calls.
If no help is possible, could someone replicate it just to be 100% that I'm not making it up?
Thank you
I have the same problem on Mi 9, noticed it yesterday. Went through all settings, nothing worked. If the phone is on silent, so, vibration only, it doesn't vibrate on incoming calls or video calls, although vibration is enabled via Whatsapp settings and phone settings. Works fine for regular calls, SMS messages and incoming Whatsapp messages.
It's driving me up the wall, please post if you find anything useful and I will do the same.

I updated via OTA to Android 10 and the issue persists, I'm going to report it (again) through the feedback app.
Estou eu e alguns amigos meus com o mesmo problema em nossos mi 8 lite. Tenho outro amigo com o mi 9 lite também com o mesmo problema. Alguém nos ajude por favor!!!!

I am in the same situation.
I have a Poco X3 NFC now (and I just installed a custom ROM - AICP ) and I'm getting frustrated trying to make certain options work under 'Do Not Disturb' [DND] mode, example:
In "DND", I want notifications (calls, SMS, WhatsApp, etc.) and incoming calls/SMSs to have Vibrations only but no Sound.

That's so simple as to put enable silent mode. Just press the volume key and then the bell (so that becomes a crossed bell). Also make sure that "vibrate for calls" and "vibrate in silent mode" is enabled under Sound and Vibration in settings, and that "ring vibration" and "notification vibration" is enabled under "Vibration & haptic strength".

Okay. So I've had my OnePlus 3 for about 6 months now. Recently, I think when I put Nougat on it, since that time, I've noticed low in call volumes, but recently it has gotten so bad that I am unable to hear the other person on the call even if there's background noise where I am, like a moderately loud TV or just any sort of noise
I'm looking for a way to increase the in-ear speaker volume if that is even possible or is there an application that let's me test the ear speaker thoroughly at various volumes?
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Is there any fix besides going to OnePlus?
Running FreedomOS 2.5 CE with google dialer
Edit: turns out if I press the phone harder against my ear, I can hear even less
I got the same exact problem and my OnePlus 3 is about the same age of yours and it as well happened all of a sudden, I tried the "mixer_paths.xml" and change the " ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value to 90 or 95 or even 100 and it didn't work for me.
If you found a solution to that issue or you found anything to try please reply.
here is a link to what i tried to do : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53896264&postcount=7
i have just got exactly the same problem today, i was in MIUI rom, flashed OB17 for three days, then restored my MIUI rom yesterday, my camera doesn't work but the sound is normal, this morning i have the earspeaker is so bad i can't here calls, then i clean flash Resurrection Remix and still not working...?
plz any help ???
FIX
[[FFIIXXEEDD]] IN CASE IF ANYONE STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM, for me it was phisicaal and i fixed it by SUCKING & INTAKING the ear piece grid from the outside with my mouth !!!!! now works very good.
I still got the problem. Will it be the firmware update that causing the problem?
For anyone with a Low In-Call voice handset volume problem. What this means is if you are on the phone with someone in a voice call with the phone up to your ear and not on speakerphone and you have a hard time hearing them, then you try to turn up the volume on the side of the phone but its already at max volume then try this.
OXYGEN-OS: TWRP-Low-InCall-Volume-Fix.zip >> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298967516
FREEDOM-OS: TWRP-FreedomOS-Low-InCall-Volume-Fix.zip >> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298967724
This is a TWRP flashable file that corrects the file 'mixer_paths_tasha.xml' which is completely missing the entries to boost the volume.
I had this problem and it corrected it on most Oxygen OS based Roms.. I am using 'FreedomOS-CE-op3t-nevax-2.11.2-signed.zip' and its working SO GOOD!

Mine turned out to be a physical issue. I tried flashing several ROMs and it was the same low headset volume. I sent it in for service and they replaced the earpiece speaker. The service took about a week after they agreed it was a hardware issue.
I think @driss.sadok is right about the earpiece getting clogged. The holes are so tiny it's easy for it to get clogged.

Any help??
Hi, here with the same problem. In my OnePlus 3 there was no exist the mixer_paths.xml or mixer_paths_tasha.xml, so I flash the TWRP-Low-InCall-Volume-Fix.zip and nothings happend. Then I change the values manualy and nothing.
On the other hand, the mixer_paths.xml is the real name or is mixer_paths_tasha.xml?
Any help?

Same problem here.. Mine was blocked too with dirt. Cleaned it with good old toothbrush and volume went back to normal.
Hi Guys,
I just moved on from my beloved S7 Edge to the S9 with Android Pie 9.0. Loving the phone absolutely except for this annoying issue with whatsapp notification settings.
Basically, when I put my phone into silent mode (Vibrate only) for calls and texts, and my whatsapp also starts vibrating for messages even though the in-app settings for vibration is set to off. The phone's settings are overriding whatsapp's notifcation settings for vibration.
Any idea????
same issue, reinstall dont solves...
Same problem here. Any solution?
I'm new to MIUI and 9SE is not my primary phone but I'm trying to get no sound but incoming phone calls.
I put it in Do not disturb (DND) mode from sound settings but all I have is Multimedia sound muted. Whatsapp and messaging apps are still ringing.
My target is muting all notifications when in DND not muting multimedia sound, as I want to have audio if playing a video or music.
Am I doing it wrong maybe? Or I don't get the MIUI DND mode.
I came here to post exactly this, i've already asked this question in this reddit thread and in this one without getting answers. I hope someone could reply here, for now i solved disabling notifications sound in sounds and ringtones.
Hello there.
What you will have to do in order to fix this but is to put these two options in Allow incoming calls from on DND:
1- Starred contacts only.
2- None.
This is the only way notifications will not sound anymore in DND mode.

But if I receive I call from a contact not on my list the phone will not ring? Can't do that... I'll try xiaomi.eu in these days and report back if the bug is present in that rom too.

Hello, it's the same thing even on xiaomi.eu! At this point I think it's designed this way, even though I talked with another guy and he told his MI 9SE works fine in DND mode.
This is so infuriating
Updated to MIUI 10.3.4.0 and the DND issue is not solved yet.
The fix I applied: turn off completely sound notification for whatsapp and hangouts messages.
This means that wa/hangouts messages now are not ringing even when DND is not enabled.

correct, indeed I should not call it a fix
2020 and still happening... Is there a way to push Xiaomi to fix it?
Ony my phone I got another problem, but I think it's related to yours: If I switch silent mode on and listen to music, no notification sound is played when e.g. a whatsapp message is received, BUT the music does get lower volume for about two seconds. As I am listening to music sometimes when working, I get distracted by getting aware of new messages without any notificatuon sound played. How can I fix this?
Same here on a Mi 10 Pro. DND is on but notifications still works.
I rooted my Poco f1 mainly because of this issue. I don't like getting notifications at night and Miui DND doesn't work. So I flashed Pixel Experience and use DND which works just fine.
I'm using xiaomi mi 10 pro global, I'm facing the same problem in dnd too. I cant allow phone call from anyone in dnd, whenever I enable "allow call from anyone" the dnd will allow ALL notification sound and vibrate.
Dunno what xiaomi is thinking, they probably thought this is the way it should work. Our problem is not a problem to them.
Me:"dnd got bug"
Xiaomi:"this is not a bug, this is how it should work"
Updated to global miui12 on mi 10 pro, the dnd "problem" still exist
To solve this issue I have developed this small app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryosoftware.silentnotifications

Thank you very much! This has been driving me mad for days and your app apparently works properly!
Hi,
I'm struggling for hours to fix this issue.
Please anybody help me.
TLDR
Sound stopped working all of the sudden on my OP5T.
No sound on speaker, earpiece, or headphones.
No sound during call at all.
Tried everything.
UPDATE: SOLVED on Nov 9, 2020
I can't believe it was this simply! I just reflashed my current ROM over itself and the issue is gone!
My conclusion is that it was probably a corrupted system file. So if you're experiencing similar issues, just go to Settings > System Update, and so a Local Update with your current ROM image file. Be aware that if you're rooted, you need to unroot and restore the stock recovery image before reflashing.
Issue
Calls: I can't hear or be heard in calls, and no sound is saved in native call recording audio files.
Music: I can't play music. When taping play, in any player, the time doesn't advance and no sound is heard.
Notifications: No sound of notifications, or ringtone, or any system sound. In Settings to select a sound, nothing is heard.
Other: Apps seem to struggle to play audio, with frozen or slowed progress bars, and no sound at all.
I know the basics
Alert Slider is in Ring mode.
Sound volume is maxed for Ring, Media and Alarm.
Do not disturb is disabled.
What works?
Enabling Accessibility > Mono audio makes music play though bottom speaker, but still no sound for notifications, system sounds or calls. Video files start playing with sound in any app, but Whatsapp audios still don't play. Wired headphones still doesn't have sound.
Bluetooth earphones can play music, and system sounds, but still no sound during calls.
Both mic are working normally, and I can record sound and monitor the volume levels in mcpro24fps video recording app.
The integrated mic in headphones also works and can be recorded, although no sound is played in the earphones.
System
OnePlus 5T 8GB - OOS 9.0.11
Root Magisk, only one module: OOS Native Call Recording Enabler. Disabling it made no difference.

I ran the Manual Audio test in OnePlus Diagnostic app and I just couldn't hear any sound from the earpiece.
Sound recorded was played through bottom speaker normally though.
Earpiece?
It may be a hardware issue in the earpiece, sure... But then:
Why not wired headphone audio at all?
Why not call sound on bluetooth headphones?
Why mic doesn't work during call, and I can't be heard?
That's so confusing, and sounds a lot like a software issue...
Lesser AudioSwitch app
Lesser AudioSwitch app has some debug reports, and they indicate that the earpiece is connected:
My bet...
...is that somehow the OS got stuck in a "in call" mode, and isn't allowing the earpiece to be used.
And any sound that's prohibited during a call can't to be played also. Even the sounds in a real call.
I wish I knew how to verify this.
What didn't work to fix it
Restart the phone, normal or safe mode (so no 3rd app culprit)
Wipe cache in Recovery
Clean app data and cache for: Phone, Phone Services, Call Management
Shutdown, remove SIM cards, start and shutdown, insert SIM cards, start
Lesser AudioSwitch app
Google Phone app
Enable Airplane mode
ViPER4Android FX magisk module
Smack the phone with a hammer, mentally
What I'll try only if nothing else works
Factory reset. Not optimistic, many say that it didn't solve similar issues.
Open the phone and see if the earpiece is somehow disconnected.
I live in Brazil, so official support isn't available and OnePlus 3rd party services are hard to find.
Online official support is a joke, never answered any issue I've opened. That's why I'm here and not there.
Final notes
I have this phone since March 2018, and everything was working perfectly.
The phone was safe and sound when the issue started.
I wasn't even listening to music or making a call.
The only different thing I remember doing was that I tried an app called Power Shade, and had to give it many important permissions (like phone permission). But I uninstalled it right after. And as soon as I noticed the issue, I reinstalled the app, removed all permissions, tried changing settings, but nothing seemed relevant, or acctualy made a difference. Also no Google results for sound issues with this app.
Thank you
I'm really lost, and running out of options. I'm thankful for any help, or even if you just read until here.
Thank you.
Do we have tuts for this?
Hello,
I have a problem with the "Do not disturb" function in Oxygenos 12. I used the Do not disturb function in Oxygenos 11 and had no problems. Now in Oxygenos 12, with the same settings (no exceptions for messages), I get notifications like WhatsApp, email, but with sound. In Oxygenos 11, the notifications were muted. What am I doing wrong?
Only solution to Activa your dnd is in digital wellbeing.
Turn on bed time mode and Activate dnd in it then your dnd will work fine. But you wont receive any notification in that time, notification will be received once your bed time is over or you pause the bed time mode.
