bootloader.
how can you unlock bootloader on this smartphone? (HTC One M9 Verizon Wireless, himawl).
(!bootloader unlock function has been removed from Verizon firmware, Nougat 7.0.)
firstly, YOU NEED TO S-OFF YOUR DEVICE.
install custom recovery (TWRP) via download mode in fastboot mode. ( The official image of recovery is suitable, it is universal.)
download : bootloader reset tool v3.zip
!androidfilehost!......./?fid=24349802275799262
just paste this after the site domain
/?fid=24349802275799262
(sorry, thanks to xda, newbie link restriction).
paste this file on nand memory or sd card.
flash this file (bootloader reset tool v3.zip) using TWRP, AROMA - select two options : unlock bootloader and disable write protection.
that's all, enjoy.

Hi dudes
Recently I unlocked my DHD with HTCDev method and flashed JellyTime ROM.
Now, I want to perform a sim-unlock but I don't know if i have to reinstall my stock rom...
Is there an easy way to achieve it?
This is my system configuration:
HBOT-2.00.0029
RADIO -26.14.04.28_M
carrier: Vodafone ES
Thx in advance
U will need to make a goldcard to sim unlock ur phone or debrand it. Use the advance ace hack kit (AAHK) from ATTN to sim unlock ur phone make sure u read the effron manual provided with it. Search for ACE think tank in the development section I m sure it will help.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda premium
Finally I called to my carrier to obtain the sim unlock key. It's not necessary to go back stock rom.. I tested with another carrier sim and ask me to enter the unlock key.
Thx for your answer.

If you get the unlock code there is no need to use any tool. Bootloader does not need to be relocked as it has nothing to do. You will only need a sim from a different company in order to get the network prompt.

Sir, i've no idea how to install all that stuff like AAHK2, i'm good at downloading so i did download that rooted custom rom and PD98IMG-1 because HTCdev unlock says it needed to be PD98IMG-1 so i download it too. now what to do?
i placed custom rooted file which was mention to put into root of sd card,i did that then ran HBOOT it showed me parcing [PD98IMG.zip] and goes it automatically don't know what to do next!?
Then i placed PD98IMG-1 file into subfolder of PD98IMG and run that aahk2.cmd but it still says no such file found. did format sd card twice. things that one sd card is from kingston and another one unnamed,in both it showed me PROBLEM PROBLEM PROBLEM!
1) either memory card not mounted
2) you sure charge cable is in chargemode? or data sync mode? check it?
such type of error i found. i gave up literally......can you find a solution for me?
Thanks a lot in advance.

the AAHK2 script will make your phone to process downgrade first then re run a second script for full s-off..and before you do it all that..you must have a branded sd card that already mentioned in the thread..
step :
1. if you had sense rom then you must set disable of Fast boot first from settings> power
2. you must enable USB Debugging on your phone under settings>development>usb debugging (check it)
3. you must installing latest HTC driver..you find it here..
4. you must install SDK or ADT to support adb & fastboot command..you can download from here..
5. if SDK or ADT already setup..you can connect your phone (just charge mode)..then open cmd from your pc..then change source directory to Platforms tools directory..sample if you place the SDK or ADT folder under "C:\" drive..then the command might be "cd C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20131030\sdk\platform-tools"
6. test adb connected.. type "adb devices", if adb success detected your phone then there will be prompt with serial number of your phone at list of attached device
7. if adb success detected your phone..then you can continued to type "adb reboot bootloader" that will bring your phone rebooted into bootloader..
8. in your phone bootloader you must choice FASTBOOT..then type in "fastboot get-var all" this will show your info about the CIDnum of your phone..(check it In the line "INFOcidnum ......." , copy that to notepad before closing a cmd..
9. find the right RUU required by AAHK that matching with your CIDnum for downgrade process..you can find it here..and place it in PD98IMG sub folder from AAHK2 folder
10. disable your antivirus..then running AAHK2 script as administrator..then follow instruction for downgrade process first..then continued running the second time AAHK2 script for full s-off process..
11. flashing RUU that already rooted and modified by Phiber2000 to fix gps..
12. DONE
note : if you had prompt "PROBLEM PROBLEM PROBLEM" while running AAHK2 script..then might be problem under USB debugging on your phone..try disconnect usb then disabled it first and enabled it again..then try connecting again with your pc
hope this can help..sorry for my bad grammar

Of course. Just flash recovery using command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and u are ready to flash rom. The example of recovery.img is cwm recovery which u can download it from their website. As you are s-on, u need to flash boot.img contained in the zip files of the rom that u flashed everytime u flash a new rom. The command is fastboot flash boot boot.img. When u are writing the command, make sure ur device is connected in fastboot mode.

Are you have unlock code if you have iust run the command fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
If you don't have the code just go to htcdev.com and fallow the procedure to unlock your bootloader again with new code from there

Are you trying to flash the boot image or the recovery image?
Flash boot.img (or whatever the name of the file is):
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Flash recovery.img (or whatever the name of the file is):
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
The thing is, you need to have an unlocked bootloader to do this. If you don't have root access, and you can't unlock your bootloader via HTC Dev, then I don't know if there's any other way to get it done. (Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks!)
I'm trying to BOOT on TWRP without flash it, for just root the ROM
Nobody can help me ?

If you don't want to flash TWRP or another recovery and keep your stock one, do this:
Download the latest recovery of your choice.
Place the *.img file into your fastboot folder or anywhere you can find it easily; rename it if possible with a simple name, for this example, recovery.img
Put your phone into fastboot mode and connected to your PC.
Open the windows command into your fastboot folder and make sure your devices is recognized by typing "fastboot devices" without quotations.
Once you make sure your phone is connected, type the following: fastboot boot recovery.img
Your device will restart into the TWRP recovery, then install the SuperSu file previously placed into your SDcard or internal memory.
Restart into system and that's all, you'll keep your stock recovery

Thanks but this work only if HTC bootloader is Unlocked; so i Wiped my data to unlock my devices... I just don't understand the benefit of S-Off -> htc bootloader have to be unlocked at all
S-OFF means you can flash older RUU/firmware packages - helpful if the latest RUU isn't available. It also allows you to move from one variation of M8 to another, e.g. Developer Edition to unbranded EU
You can remain locked by flashing a ZIP with just the custom recovery in it via RUU mode - I do this and it works well for the odd time I want to try a custom ROM

In addition to the benefits mentioned above (and somewhat related), s-off allows access to partitions that are protected with s-on, including radio, hboot, and others. s-off isn't required for root, installing custom recovery or custom ROMs ; but is required for a number of other things.
I find S-OFF working for me only for adaway and now the Battery monitor widget, and also Cerberus App.
Adaway is not working because it can't overwrite the system partition, neither the workarounds worked for me; Cerberus keep crashing anytime i perform a change on the app and Battery monitor widget doesn't install the system app for the same reason: Can't write the partition.
At this point, at least with the M8, i realize there is no joy by just rooting, you need S-OFF or your phone will be the same as unrooted.

Sorry dude, but i'm kinda confused now. Which Write protection Mod is out there? can you please link me to it?
And about custom ROM, i'll prefer to give to the Stock firmware a chance before start messing around with ROM's, once i get tire of it i'll change.
Question here is, would S-OFF grant me access to the system partition in order to install apps like the ones i've mentioned above? (Still interested on that Write protection Mod if exist)

When you mentioned "workarounds" I thought you were referring to the kernel mod to disable system write protection (and that it didn't work for you). But I guess you were referring to some Adaway workaround (that I am not aware of)?
Here is the kernel mod to disable system write protection (s-off is not required for this): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701816
The OP stopped updating it, so no kernel mod for Lollipop in the top post. But if you read near the end of the responses, he says you can get the kernel module from a custom ROM (and a couple LP kernel modules are posted by other users).

Yes, i was referring to the AdWay workaround which consist on make a symbolic link (Doesn't work at all).
I'll keep away from the Kernels mods for a while as well. I hope S-OFF can give me solutions for that.
I'm S-off, BL-unlocked, and rooted - and I did each in that order. As such, I can pretty much do whatever I please on my phone. (Even if ES File Explorer doesn't believe me and pops up warnings, presumably without trying and failing...) However, when I upgraded to Lollisense, I opted to do an RUU update, since I am always rooted and didn't want to risk it.
I didn't modify the stock software in any way afterwards, beyond rooting the install, and I can assure you that AdAway works fine on my phone. It was one of my first installs. All I can take away from that is that stock firmware disables certain write protections when it sees that the device is S-off.

Unlocking the bootloader allows access to 4 partitions. S-Off gives access to all 47 partitions.

I believe the system write protection is already disabled by default on stock Developer's Edition (and the only stock ROM to have this feature).

Missing AdbWinApi.dll
Hi
Thanks for the rooting guide for the HTC Desire 530. I'm a little stuck when trying to unlock the boot loader.
when I try to run the fastboot.exe it tells me i'm missing the AdbWinApi.dll file. My Java. SDK and HTC sync manager are all installed and up to date. Is there any way of getting the dll file required or am I doing something wrong?
Thank you in advance

OEM unlock is not even in Developer mode in 6.0.1. HTCdev wouldn't even get you the token without it enabled. Sunshine don't work for Desire 530 as well. How you get it to working?

jpoblocki77 it not hard to root, but every model phone have a different method, even same manufacturer phone can be different, let alone different AndroidOS version. HTC is usually very good in letting you root their phone. But carrier blocked the process as well, like the Desire 530 for Verizon. They omitted the OEM unlock setting for you to not use HTCdev bootloader unlocked method, thus can allow rooting on your phone. HTC change fastboot bootloader to their download mode when power off and then hit power with volume down.

Yesterday friend gave me his m8 with S-OFF but boot-loader locked. Want to flash TWRP but the commands failed. I heard that twrp can't be flashed with locked boot loader. So can I unlock it again using htc dev or it will cause problem? Or any other idea.
Phone is not running any OS stuck in boot loop.
'Thanks.
EDIT: OK SOLVED. Re-unlocked with htc dev and everything is fine. Twrp installed.

AFAIK you should be able to flash twrp with s-off&locked bootloader-only fails for s-on&locked bootloader
however you can just download a proper firmware package ( unsigned ) for your device variant
remove all the content except android-info.txt
then rename the twrp.img to recovery and zip both android-info and the recovery.img
rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip and flash it in hboot
( put the zip in sd card formatted as fat32 then reboot to bootloader-hboot then it will ask you to update confirm it and you are done )
lock&unlock bootloader method but required root

also htc dev method should work fine but no need to unlock it imo

I see you've solved your issue. FYI, it's correct you cannot flash custom recovery (unsigned recovery image) with locked bootloader; and s-off does not bypass that restriction.
