Hi guys, a little drama here, long story short, bought a Note 10+ for a friend that unfortunately didn't deserved so I took the phone back, obviously my friend refused to unlock the phone, I know how to factory reset the phone but I know it will ask for the Google account associate with it after the reset and I don't have it. Any way to solve this? Root it and custom rom maybe? but not sure if possible with the phone locked. Contact Samsung maybe? I got the phone in Amazon, unlocked and activate it in my T-mobile account, first time this happened to me, thank you very much.
Why don't you tell the police so that whoever you stole the phone from can get it back
There is no way around an FRP lock, this is a question that has been asked many times before and the answer is always the same. Even if there was a way around the FRP lock, XDA is not the place for discussion of it.
Who buys a "friend" a Note10+...
If you bought the device, you can take the receipt and go to a Samsung Service Center, they will require you to show proof of purchase, and they can remove the FRP lock for you.
XDA is not the place to ask for removing FRP since it can be used to get access to a stolen device.

I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S II T989 off of craigslist. It was described as Brand New, and came with box and all original accessories, etc. Still had screen protectors and everything on it, so i assumed i would have no problems. I am using AT&T and wanting to unlock it so that i wouldn't have to switch carriers. I paid a pretty reputable website 25$ for the unlock code, which i received and entered as directed.
I attempted to enter my SIM and i get an invalid SIM message. I called Samsung to figure it out and they had me send them the phone. They received it and inspected it to ensure nothing was wrong. They then tested the IMEI which came back as a black-listed phone, but would not disclose the reason.
So t-mobile will offer me no help what so ever, nor will samsung. I try calling the *#7465625# number to test if the phone is unlocked, but i get an error message stating "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly" and i have only one option which is force quit. I used the factory reset option a couple times to see if this helped at all, and got nothing.
I only have experience with iphones, so i really know nothing about the android OS. I've heard a lot about "rooting" and such for the unlock but it's like a whole different language for me. I think i could do it, but it's what i would need to do afterward that is really of concern to me. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. This phone has just been sitting in my drawer for the past month because i have absolutely no idea what to do. I only want legal advice, please dont ask me to do something illegal or thread will be closed, again.
** For The Mods. I wish to do NOTHING illegal with this phone. I only want it to work with a carrier, and Unlocking is not illegal.
If the phone is blacklisted, it won't be a usable phone. It won't connect to networks because the IMEI is bad.

T-Mobile blocked the IMEI for their network, and possibly their smaller networks. But that does not mean it can't be used on AT&T's network or any other GSM network. I see ton's of people on ebay selling black listed T989's that can be used on any GSM network, just not t-mobile's. I just need guidance on how it can be done, legally of course.

I am well aware of the problem. I am seeking the solution
Hi,
I would like to unlock my T989. Although I've bought it at full price from Walmart I've got an email from T-mobile saying that "The device was not purchased from a T-Mobile USA retail store or authorized T-Mobile retailer." and I've decided not to battle them for 3 months and just do it myself.
I'm a newbie and the following questions might be silly.
1) I understand there is a software by z3x that unlocks the phone. Do I need an extra hardware for it (what is the z3x-box)? If so, what kind?
2) If I root the phone, will it be immediately unlocked?
3) Is there a free method to unlock this phone (assuming I'll root it successfully)?
Thanks!

Option 3!
You can do it yourself, just follow the simple instructions :

You could always just take the simple way and tell Tmobile your taking a trip to mexico in 3 weeks (Cuz itll take 2 weeks at the max for the manufacturer to send the code to tmobile) and you want to use a prepaid service down there but dont want to buy a new phone. I just did this today, but act like you dont know much about sim unlocking to be on the safe side. The lady tried to get my to buy a new phone from tmobile down in mexico or just let my phone roam and get international charges and i told her "Well im trying to use the same phone with a prepaid service down in mexico so i wont have to have any additional charges when i come back, I herd something about most phones being locked so will i be able to use the prepaid sim on my current phone?" and after that she mentioned sending me an unlock code.. She tried to play me like i didnt know anything about sim unlocking by telling me my options were buying a new phone down there or letting the charges rack up. Then tried to cut the conversation off short this was in the online chat. But if you keep asking questions and explaining you dont want a new phone or to let them add charges theyll eventually tell you about unlocking your phone and ask for you imei and email then youll have to wait for 2 weeks.
Hope i helped a few people, I tried the method above and it didnt work for me. So i took the longer route that will forsure unlock your phone. :good:
Curiously enough, I'm currently abroad.
I don't have a t-mobile account. I don't even need one according to their website. It's just annoying. But I feel like I'm tilting at windmills.
"If you paid full retail price for a device, you qualify to have the SIM subsidy unlock code provided you meet the following requirements:
The device must have been purchased at a T-Mobile retail store or authorized T-Mobile retailer.
The device must be paid for completely. You must be able to fax the proof of purchase to T-Mobile."
In any case, as I didn't get an answer in the other thread, do you happen to know
1) How do I boot into recovery mode? and how do I choose to flash a radio? Do I need to install a specific recovery software? I would really appreciate if somoeone will able to post a detailed "unlocking for dummies" guide, starting from an unrooted phone. A medal of honor will be given if the guide will start from a stock, unrooted phone.
2) I understand the latest version of the radio is UVLI. Should I use it or use the one that comes with my phone? (I would like as few problems as possible)?

You have step by step details in the post mentioned by DupleX01.
- install recovery
- install radio SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio
- unlock the phone
- done
- you can change the radio again (look in the dev area for several radio packages that work with T989) - optional if the phone works well

Thank mr_guan for his post if it helped.
so, i am legally blind. I bought a samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition on the huge amount of recommendations that i received from many people. It was purchased through Amazon from a 3rd party seller business. After a few months the os starting getting crazy. Seller advised resetting to factory defaults. I did this . Now it is stuck on a screen asking for a samsung account. I dont have one. I contacted Samsung and they said that since it came from this 3rd person business seller through Amazon and since it appeared that it was a non-USA model (???) that there was nothing they could do unless i was able to get the serial number or IE number for it from the seller as it does have one printed on it where it should be. Verizon said "Huh so you dont have service with us....we cant help..call Samsung". The seller is no longer in business. Long story short i needed this to be able to read books and a lot of other stuff. It worked super great when it was working....now its a $350 paperweight!!!
Can anyone help me????? I am somewhat PC savvy and understand somethings about roots and the like, but i have beeen out of doing that stuff for several years. so details on how to's might be needed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and you would be doing a huge good deed by helping a handicapped pwerson get back the only real visual aid i have. Thanks ahead of time for any help given.
Sorry man, the Verizon model so far cant have its bootloader unlocked, so any hopes of finding a way to break the lock are gone, you got scammed, a locked device is most likely a lost/stolen device, Id contact the bank and tell them about the scam if I were you. Its probably too late now since this was in 2017
yeah I had this happen with a tablet from work. I had 2 smaller galaxy tabs returned from employees. one was locked down with an account that we have NO IDEA how the employee put in there. He left and we had literally no way to unlock the tablet. The worst part was the phone/tablet guy was just going to give them both to me because they were going in the trash. I tried everything to bypass the account, came here and it was confirmed, not happening. I kept the good one and then put the other aside for an extra screen.
hey guys, just bought a NOTE 10 PLUS from a friend dirt cheap since he cant unlock it. i tried to do the factory rest and now im stuck at the setup screen saying i need to varify myself. can you guys link me to the proper thread to download the firmware to flash with odin. theres so many varients that i need to ask for guidance. this is the N975U for the Sprint network. id like to just have it as a web browser if possible.
Simply return it to it's owner and they will be able to unlock it. Flash whatever you like, you won't be able to get around a frp lock.
The fact that 'the friend' is unable to unlock it makes it a bit suspicious...

Before you buy/accept any Android device make sure the seller/owner of the phone does a factory data reset before he/she sells/gives it to you.
Performing the FDR will disable the FRP lock (Google Anti-theft Measure). As stated previously if the previous person doesn't do the phone will ask for the previous Google Account login information for verification. Without that information you won't be able to use, flash or Factory Data Reset the phone.
There is 100% a way to unlock it as previously mentioned, return it to its owner. Buying stolen goods is not a good idea, that is what we can learn from this.
Wish I would have known this was locked this way. Dont think its stolen.. just found. Oh well..... learned the hard way.
I'm sure you do but the owner didn't buy it just so you could get a sweet deal on a Note 10 Plus. Stolen or lost, it could easily be returned to it's owner.

This is a found phone over the holiday shopping spree. That's what I was told at least. I've been out of the flashing world for years and was not aware about these new security system with Google. Bought the dang thing for 200$ thinking I was getting a awesome deal by just flashing it. looks like I lost money. So there's no way to unlock it? I was also forwarded that he couldn't unlock the thing. I thought I'd stay quiet and use is in since he doesn't even know what it is. Lol. I might have shot myself in the foot.

Am I understanding this correct? Your friend found the phone (he didn't buy it nor did he actually own the phone, he just happened to find it) that you bought?
If so then that is in fact a stolen phone. Regardless of what your friend said if someone happened to loose the phone it does not mean it belongs to the person who found it. If the friend didn't make a reasonable effort to find the owner of the phone then they have committed theft by finding.
The correct and legal thing to do when you found a lost phone is if you see any sort of carrier branding on the phone (Verizon, AT&T or etc) take it to the nearest store matching the carrier branding. Inform them that the phone was found on the ground. They will be able to locate the appropriate owner. If you can't locate any branding you should take it to your local police department in case someone called it in as lost. If the phone was found at a local store, give the phone to the store in case someone comes looking for the phone they lost.
And the answer is no. The FRP lock is an anti-theft measure. Surrender the phone to the applicable provider or local authorities so the owner can claim the lost device. Your friend should be able to give your money back if they are your friend.
You have received your answer here and also here
Return it to the authorities as your posts about this are inconsistent

I got an SM-g960, it belonged to mother in law, I know this is legit not a stolen phone. But now she is gone and father in law is trying to reset it to give to one of the kids. Mostly the relationship is one of those typical divorces, phones paid off, no sim card. originally purchased on their account.
I am 17 years of IT so not my first experience with OIDN or cracking a phone, just nothing recent. We have it factory reset and stuck at the FRP screen wanting a 4 digit code... I am currently searching and working on downloading the firmware for ODIN. Are there any new processes, procedures, and advice people can share?
