Congratulation!
Good tutorial Bro even like that I won't unlock this phone because it's risky... Waiting for my Mi 9T Pro.
Great guide but It's too risky to do all this on this damn phone. I will better wait 3-4 months than brick this stupid device.
I don't think so! It's risky if you make exactly (step by step) what i guide. But if you worry about brick you device, don't make anything!
just to be sure, there is no anti-rollback issue on beta android 10 rom, right?
I hope, MIUI 11, Android 10 for global rom will be released soon! Now, i am pleased with Chinese rom. It has not any bug!

There are no new things in rom Chinese Miui 11 android 10.
No app drawer or voice over wifi (vowifi) ? If so I'll wait and keep using POCO Launcher.
Is this for global Roma or Chinese only?
In the recovery what you share,couldn't find this option:
Advanced - Close AVB2.0 - 2 marks - swipe.
- Advanced - Disable Replace TWRP - swipe.

If your phone is rooted you can enable volte and vowifi by editing build.prop with the following app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.build.prop.editor
Just paste the following code in the build.prop
persist.dbg.ims_volte_enable=1
persist.dbg.volte_avail_ovr=1
persist.dbg.vt_avail_ovr=1
persist.dbg.wfc_avail_ovr=1
persist.radio.rat_on=combine
persist.radio.data_ltd_sys_ind=1
persist.radio.data_con_rprt=1
persist.radio.calls.on.ims=1
Reboot and presto
Awesome. I get not coverage at work so vowifi would be pretty great. volte is already enabled.
I am currently waiting for my bootloader to be unlocked, I plan on rooting (most likely through LR TWRP) but keep the stock ROM.

Assuming you are probably on EU Rom with Eu phone, just wanted to let you know rooting with the LR TWRP 09.24 or 11.04 versions goes completely flawless on Android 9 MIUI. Just do not forget to close AVB 2.0 before restart.
Then update installed magisk version through manager, updating manager first, then magisk. Done.
I did it myself a few times on EEA MIUI 11.0.2.0 on EEA device, no issue.
How more days to wait?
Good luck!
Regards.
Looks like I'm on 11.0.3. MIUI Global 11.0.3 (PGGEUXM) with Android version 9 PPR1.180610.011. From what I've heard it should work just as well, it's only Android 10 that's causing issues. Will have to recheck before doing anything of course.
Chinese rom is good (stable rom). You can install gapps easily. But Chinese rom has got only English (and Chinese of course).

you can use xiaomi tool kit (search on google) to flash any custom recovery. then flash a good rom (currently miui 10 is best for me.) flash magisk if you want root stuffs or go with flashing lazy flasher after miui rom. reboot, done!

I have downloaded miui 10 global fastboot rom. What is orange fox? I already unlocked bootloader..
Hi @ridersam
Need some advices from you. I am interested in installing Custom Rom on my Redmi 5 Plus. The one I am referring to is Android P Vince (already got hold of the step by step instructions). My concerns :-
1. Waiting to unlock my bootloader in the next few days (Redmi 5 Plus) with root too and to install Red Wolf Recovery (fastboot to install the standard twrp). The default is OrangeFox-R6-Beta-vince.zip recovery
2. From standard twrp to flash Red Wolf Recovery instead of OrangeFox recovery. Can I do that?
3. Going to install Android P Vince custom rom in Redmi 5 Plus (serial of steps instruction from the devs). Done and reboot as my daily driver.
4. Can this Red Wolf Recovery be used like normal twrp recovery for other custom rom or backup and/or restore not only Redmi 5 Plus?
5. Through fastboot I can also install Red Wolf Recovery, right! Do I have to rename the file like recover.img rather the actual name RedWolf-Unofficial-vince-2.img? Another method to install recovery.
Thank you
I have a question
Does the aosp ROMs, pixel experience and such are using the open sources of Vince that Xiaomi released months ago?

[ASK] [MIUI 10] Install unknown sources apk
I've installed MIUI 10 via updater app today, following a factory reset from MIUI 9.6.4. I didn't use fastboot method bcs I'm just lazy lol.
Today i tried installing Sony Music App apk which I had on my previous MIUI.
After finished installing, the screen says "App not installed"
Any idea how to work around this? The install permission setting of unknown sources is confusing as you need to allow each app you would like to open apk from. And no, this is not because screen filter app which restricts you from pressing the install button, I don't use such app and i get to press the install button.
Then i tried enabling it from all my file explorer app, even manually enabling the PackageInstaller system app to install from unknown sources. The problem persisted so i try downloading other apk from another mirror site, and nothing is working.
I'm currently on the 8.8 update of MIUI 10.
Help appreciated.
I have tried a gsi roms in the xiaomi mi mix 3 and the battery works well, the fluidity is good, what I fell short of was with the root that when I installed magisk it gave me bootloop, if any of you have tried Please comment, I would like to see that the postp rom official release for the mi mix 3 this rom has a good design and performance.

What was the flashing procedure?
It looks like you have to use Magisk v21 to have Android 11 support. It's been released just some days ago - maybe that's the issue?
By the way, I very much would like to test the Android 11 GSI on my Mi Mix 3 5G as well!

try this variant:

3) Reboot to TWRP again

how is the battery life on gsi? if you've used other roms like arrows or xiaomi.eu, how does the battery life compare? also is android auto supported? thanks

I'm experiencing several issues with phhusson's GSI image on the Mi Mix 3:
- When selecting a ringtone or notification sounds, it stays silent. (edit: Go to Phh Treble Settings -> Qualcomm features -> "Use alternate audio policy")
- The cell reception seems to be very fluctuent. I can only get 3G, not LTE. (edit: after manually selecting the preferred network type in the settings, it's much better)
- NFC is not working well
- Can't get Magisk installed for now
- The device is named "Unknown Phh-Treble vanilla" Will easily be fixed after Magisk is installed
- GBoard crashes whenever I try to change the settings
I am currently using Mi 11X (aliothin) running on Pixel Experience. The rom is pretty smooth, but is still a bit buggy at places and lacks stock features like the camera, dolby, memc etc. Recently, Xiaomi has been rolling out the 12.5 enhanced edition globally for alioth devices, which supposedly should be very smooth, with great battery life. Can you comment on this based on your experience?
Can you give me a link to that enhanced edition? I have been using Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM with Root, its ok. I would prefer Vanilla Android, but I need some Stock features, like MIUI Dolby Atmos and the camera-app

You can only flash with TWRP or recovery stock. "Mi flash" flashes only fastboot roms and 12.5.3. global is not yet available in fastboot.
But I don't know if the flash of a beta works well.
If you do, let us know how it went.
Good flash ...

I don't like the answers you've got... It should be possible to flash via miui directly . That's the best way if possible as you will avoid all the potential bugs and slowdowns from the buggy twrps we have....
Open settings , about phone , open updates and tap on the center of the screen on the picture above where it says 12.5 lots of times just like how you open developer options - you have to click like 5-10 times idk....
Afterwards it will say additional options unlocked , click on top right menu , click on choose update package and point it towards the miui download.
It should work...

Tried it now and unless ur on global rom it automatically fails the check , on poco f3 even if u are on global rom it biches about closed beta and doesn't instal... mi11 should be able to install based on yt...
Nebrassy twrp gives error 7 but vasi twrp gives no error and installs without issues - flash reboot to bootloader , boot twrp by cmd and wipe data. Only after all this boot system.
I'll try to install official way asap but for now it looks like it's doing alright.
Performance mode is there - so to answer original question YES. It's more than worth to install enhanced edition. For me it's a must
edit: Might also work regardless of recovery being twrp as it installs while phone is booted up , upon reboot it should replace twrp w stock recovery but idk if there will be any ilent bugs from doing it like that... I prefer flashing clean rom first then flashing anything else afterwards

I imagined that with the traditional method it would not work due to verification, because after this post I read that the beta is intended for those who are part of the beta test program with their account.
I also figured that the stock flash would overwrite the twrp.
I am glad that the rollout of the enhanced version has begun, thanks for your valuable information regarding twrp.
My f3 has less than 48 hours to unlock the bootloader and I can't wait to try new roms. If the fastboot version is released in these two days I try to flash with miflash.

Hybrid ROMs: The End of Recovery/Fastboot ROMs
During this Chinese New Year holidays break from building ROMs, we could put some time into research and have developed a new format for our ROMs. We are proud to announce the Hybrid ROMs. Why "Hybrid"? Well, because those ROMs are both Recovery ROMs and Fastboot ROMs, all in the same package...
xiaomi.eu
it can be flashed via fastboot or recovery.

I am currently running Xiaomi Eu version 13.0.9 stable with twrp 3.6.2_12-pocof3_v6.3_a12.
I have issues with this build and I noticed lots of reports with latest Xiaomi EU updates having many bugs so don't really want to update.
Can I switch without data loss to official Miui? (my bank is annoying dont want to go through hassle of phoning them to re setup)
thanks in advance

Only if you flash the same version or higher.
I just ran the latest weekly and it works like a charm , your twrp should be 3.7 skkkk and you can install miui 14 recovery global through twrp but I would suggest a format and not a dirty flash since your going from a china rom to a global have funnnn!
There are 2 TWRP(SKK):
1/twrp-3.7.0_12-v7.2_A12-alioth
2/twrp-3.7.0_12-v7.2_A13-alioth
His system is currently in A12, he can continue with version 3.6.2 12 or update it to 3.7.A12 and flash an A13 recovery rom.
Or use Miflash *** and lock the bootloader, which will avoid rooting + magisk to have the playstore certified.
***Erases your data and only if not K40.

I believe that you will loose your data unless if the same ROM with similar version number is installed.
Xiaomi eu ROM does not have any deep problem. I'm on one of the latest DEV releases for sometime.
It is rooted by magisk 25.2 and recovery is TWRP skkk v. 3.7
Here are links to posts for recovery and ROM (official, not eu).

Like you want.
Won't re-lock and you will need to install TWRP A13 after flash.
I'd reckon you try a fresh install on Xiaomi.EU's latest rom first before flashing to the Global version.
Most bugs and glitches are fixed with a fresh install of Xiaomi.EU.
By fresh install I mean use XiaoMiFlash (Fastboot) to the latest official China stable rom (14.0.5.0), then wipe all via TWRP and then Fastboot flash the latest Xiaomi.EU rom (14.0.5.0).
For me; Global rom is too bloat, has too many features missing and less smooth versus Xiaomi.EU's rom.

Not much use since for a first installation you must format the data with the Twrp or use the first install.bat script included in the folder extracted from the zip.
Right, my bad. Clean install is the way to go though, Devs at Xiaomi.EU always recommended this to me versus dirty flash.
I clean flash with every major update, except from 12 to 12.5 (no Android change) with Xiaomi.EU's roms.

Yep, for the change of Miui or Android version, it is preferable to do a clean flash or mandatory in the event of a downgrade (weekly to stable).
