3 xl same Jan security patch but dec 'google play system update'

Thanks for info, I know pixel 3a and 3axl have it, i bet pixel 4 has it also, just need to wait I guess

Finally received playsystem update today, not sure if the play services beta triggered the update or not.
Let us know if you had to install play services beta first or if you just got the update without it.

System Updates Setting

I noticed today that there is a new option to check for update. It just appeared, but I didn't receive an update. Anyone else? Verizon Pixel XL NDE63P
Nope nothing here
That's interesting. Mine doesn't have the button to spam.
What is the most recent version? Mine is on NDE63L.

For Verizon variants P is the latest build number.
Weird mine is now showing that button too, didn't earlier on today when I checked.
I wonder how they changed that, without an update... UK Google store bought.

There was an update to Google Play services that brought it back. Check it out: http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/1...or-updates-button-on-nexus-and-pixel-devices/
Just installed the APK, restarted, and now I have it too.

Security updates

I've noticed that I no longer get the updated automatically and have to manually update the security update on my phone. No big deal, but on DP4 there's no page where they house the updates. So either the is no Aug security update or I'm stuck on July's. Anyone else have this problem? Would love to know it's not just me and my awful luck.

Lol well, that explains it. I'm a moron. I did see that the final update might be releasing next week though. So that's good

Pixel 2 XL Panda 64GB US version not getting Feb update

I don't know if everyone did receive the update yet or not. But I am still waiting..
Any feedback? is this normal?
I feel like owning a Samsung device at this moment with regards to timely updates.
Nothing here (Belgium, unlocked pixel 2 panda 64 gb from the UK) either so far...
Updating to play services beta didn’t help either.

Samsung and timely updates, what? I mean my last device from samsung was the S4, but timely updates wasn't really something they did. If they did any updates at all.
Same here Panda 64 Eastern US. I went ahead and unlocked and flashed to Feb last night. Impatience ?
For what it's worth I have a black pixel 2 xl and hadn't received the Feb update either, so I went ahead and unlocked and flashed the update myself

To be fair, I've been using a Galaxy S7 edge (Exynos model) for the last 2 years before getting my Pixel 2 XL, and Samsung has been pretty fast and reliable with security updates. Samsung isn't perfect but I think they're getting better, yet we tend to blame them when carriers are the culprit in reality. Most of the time, the updated Samsung firmware exists and is available but carriers take weeks, if not months, to push it.
I have the Verizon version of the 64GB Panda Pixel 2 XL and got the update 3 or 4 days ago. I'm enrolled in the beta program though so maybe that makes a difference.
Try that:
1. Turn airplane on
2. Clear data of google service framework
3. Turn airplane off and check the update in settings.
That was what I did to get the update.

No luck here with that workaround...
I am in the UK and my 2 XL never gets OTA until around 25th of the month, so I have to update using the OTA sideload. Other half's Pixel 2 doesn't get it until around the 25th as well.
US Pixel 2 XL here, still no update.
Pixel 2XL - Spain. No update.
if you feel you need it that badly, sideload the update.
Short of that, find the google play services beta and install that as it enables the update button to actually call for the update now.

My xl 2 was ordered from the UK, so that might explain the February update not coming through yet.
I use it in Belgium though and the January update only came a couple of days after the official release. Weird hickups in the Google update system?
This https://www.droid-life.com/2018/02/06/google-play-services-12209-pixel-2-xl-update/ worked for me:good:
Update: I was already on the google play service beta program but I sideloaded the apk for GPS v12.2.09.

Settings > Apps & Notifications > Hit three dots > Show system > Find Google service framework > Clear cache and data > do the same for Google play services > Reboot and then hit system update.
Don't forget to hit that thanks button when your update comes in :good:

Didn't Google say don't do that? Also if it's really important to have the update, then sideloading isn't hard

Does the July security update fix the slow to wake up issue introduced in June?

Still on May update, never upgraded to June because of this issue. Does the July update fix it?

BTW this wasn't an issue, it was intentional from Google.

Has anyone pulled the update by manually clicking "Check for Updates"? I have hit it multiple times throughout the day as recently as 15 minutes ago and still saying I'm up to date on June. Is this busted again?

I just looked around some more online and found others complaining of the same thing. Perhaps it's working for some but definitely not all. Just hit it again, still nothing.
Hate to hijack the thread, but this is as good a place as any to ask this really simple question of mine:
How do I update to the latest July patch if I'm still on stock May, but rooted with Magisk & Xposed enabled? I'm assuming I can just flash the full factory image zip with fastboot (disabling -w to avoid wipe) and just making sure to remove Magisk/Xposed before hand.

Yeah you can for sure do that when you flash the factory image it will remove magisk and xposed for u.

Thank you for the confirmation. I assumed it would do that, but I'll probably do it myself to make sure nothing goes wrong in the flashing process.
Still slow after July update.

I tried to report the issue to google chat support but those people are useless outside of processing RMAs. 2 different reps told me the update isn't out yet bc it's dated the 5th and had no idea hitting the check for updates button overrides the staged rollout. Ugh.. I reported the issue on the pixel community board so let's see if that gets any traction.

I side loaded it using ADB. For some reason, it takes several days for the update to get to me in June (when prior updates worked after running "check for update").
I think delay is still present in july build as confimred by some users, so i will stay with May Build till now(waiting for fix).
I am still waiting for the July updates....
still haven't recieved July security update OTA for my Pixel 2 XL.

Exactly the same here, thats so odd.. I wonder what is the cause of this, cuz some people got it pretty much instantly when Google released the update.

Help with google pixel 3a Xl (ROOT)

I had my phone rooted until the update for the Magisk App where my google store app and google play services stopped working. I am on the June 5 software currently and I am un-rooted(my futile attempt at fixing this). I am considering updating software and re-rooting. I was hoping someone would be able to offer some insight.
