phone is SM-N975U
Bought a phone from 3rd party (Technically "used") got it home, did first setup, noticed it was running a bit slow, so while trying to figure out why, i found that the 512gb storage is almost HALF FULL and all I've done so far is log into Google, and install Firefox and Hangouts.... later learned that the storage is slowing growing as the phone is on, and none of the user accessible storage has any files, so my suspicion is that there's an error log being SPAMMED.
So I decided that i'll just wipe it all and install factory stock everything...
So I downloaded Odin 3.13.1, and the latest U1 firmware from Frija (read that U1 is free of bloatware and is interchangeable to this phone)
Edit: also tried Odin 3.13.3-3b to see if it would get any kind of response, but nothing...
Odin won't see the phone no matter what USB drivers i install, reboot PC, uninstall, reboot, different drivers, reboot etc etc.
on the phone:
Having issues getting into "download mode", or any other mode that resembles other people's screenshots!
If I power off, hold volume UP while plugging in USB, I get the screenshot that let's you choose between recovery, Fastboot, or normal.
1. If I choose recovery, I get the "no command" screen shot below and the phone reboots normally from here after about 60 or 90 seconds (maybe less)
2. If I choose "fastboot" (only tried once) the phone says something like "loading Fastboot" or something like that below the choices, BUT IS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AT THIS SCREEN, it doesn't respond to ANYTHING, not even holding the power button in for 5 MINUTES will force a reboot! The only way to exit this is to let the phone run out of battery (which took all night!)
If I hold volume down and plug in USB from no power, I get something that's ALL in Korean (screenshot), but has a sizeable menu that I can move down through (but not up) and select if I want... I usually just hold the power button to power off again.
So i went back to the system that DOES boot (slowly eats storage space) and looked at the build number again (screenshot) and saw that it looks like it's a N975O build, not U or U1, so i'm thinking that someone tried to flash the wrong one, or was trying to root, etc. i just don't know.
So the question is this: how can i get it back to stock "download mode", stock android (either 9 or 10 i don't care at this point), and just get the phone back to normal?? I'm used to flashing Google Phones where you just flash the bootloader, radio, etc etc. but here i'm assuming that Odin does all of that.
In my Device Manager, under "Portable Devices" it shows as "SM-N975O" when the phone is booted to system, which is the wrong model for the phone (sticker on back says N975U)
Edit2: with phone booted into System, 'ADB devices' shows the serial number as 0123456789ABCDEF same as phone settings (see screenshot)
Looks like you got the Hong Kong firmware.

Make sure device is powered off. Plug cable into computer, HOLD volume up and down at same time you connect phone to cable, should get you to download.

ok first THANK YOU for your help!!
so volume up on the Chinese(?) does nothing, it seems that the power button chooses the current selection, and the top one seems to cause it to do a bunch of hardware checks (still not done actually)

i chose the first line on the Chinese menu that i can't read, and it is doing either Diagnostic hardware checks, or it's raw live data from some of the sensors... i don't know
ok so yes, bottom line was either reboot, or power off (went too fast to see)
Try the bottom to power off then try the download mode again

adb reboot recovery
Or

ok tried the vol+down and vol+up again, went back to the same menu (also if i JUST use Vol+down it goes to that menu also) will try adb commands after booting system
Edit: previously i've tried adb to recovery, it gave me the "dead android" screenshot above, so this time i tried the ADB reboot bootloader......
we're done testing for tonight because the phone is on the dreaded "=> FASTBOOT mode...." where not even the power button being held for 5 minutes can force the phone to reboot, and it's not responsive at all...... any fastboot commands in CMD are hung at "< waiting for device >"
so now i have to wait until the battery FULLY drains (all night) before i can try anything else.
tomorrow i'm going to take the phone to a "UBREAKIFIX' or whatever it's called that Samsung uses for official repairs, so hopefully they can either flash it proper, or just replace it.
I would have taken it to Samsung straight away, the handset is still very much in warranty so they should sort this out, instead of risking making it worse yourself. It looks like someone screwed this device up pretty good.
I noticed some other weird things from your photos, the phone doesn't look like a Note10+, the screen corner curves are way bigger than on my Note10+ and also it is still on a March 2019 build, I assume that would have been the initial release software.
In the 3rd photo it really looks like the screen is showing through the camera hole, have you tested the front camera? Kinda looks like the device is a fake.
@xeonight Infact looking at fake Note10+ makes me pretty certain this is a fake device, not an actual Note10+. RIP man.

Thank you for pointing this out to me, my rage is building as this phone was not for me, my dad saved up because his Nexus 6p has been heavily malfunctioning for at least a year now.
Right now it's all I can do not to track down the one who sold this to me, and I fully have the ability (my dad lives out of town, he found it online, asked me to pick it up for when he came to town, he doesn't have much money for this crap... )
Sorry for your loss, I miss my Nexus 6P, great phone just a bit outdated now.
I was curious about the camera also and the rounded screen
Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
@xeonight you should probably make sure any accounts you signed into on that thing are secure as who knows who wrote that firmware, it wasn't Samsung.
It even looks like the camera placement is wrong. Looks to low

To be honest, based on your screenshots of the menu and settings, it seems like you got a Note 10+ clone instead of a real Note 10+.
1. Note 10 shouldn't have a firmware that have March 2019 security patch.
2. Bezel to screen ratio is off.
3. Chinese recovery menu should not show up when you try to launch Download Mode.
Edit: oops, it looks like someone point this out earlier. Hope you get compensated for your loss.
As soon as he said something about the foreign language popping up I knew it was possibly a fake. MF got me on a Note 4 that did the exact same thing. If it's a fake I know exactly how he's feeling.
Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Well. 2 thing i picked up quickly is "Moly" is Mediatek modem and Recovery style is typically Chinese fake ones. I hope you do get a quick refund
My first thought after reading your post is you got a fake Note 10+. And yes others ppl confirmed. Too bad. For cellphones, when it real cheap, it's something wrong (or at least 5 years old phones)

I was flashing jackos s3 radio after the phone finished installing the update it will not start at all any fix for this previously it was stuck at htc screen did the task 29 and flashed the jackos rom will stay stuck at htc screen thanks
Is your device GSM or CDMA?
is gsm tried everything I could think of, I hope you have a suggestion the only thing that I found is the last resource is that riff jtag box ($150 plus shipping) but I don't have it, and I don't think is worth it for one phone.
Try...
Try flashing stock rom....i think hold volume down and press power button..go to bootload screen/ three color screen..
.then insert cable and flash stock rom
that is the biggest problem I don't get a bootloader screen or any screen any longer it seems like the the cellphone is dead, it tried holding the reset button with battery and without and it makes no difference, it just died after flashing the radio and I don't get a screen anymore I tried a different battery I have a separate charger, and it doesn't work either...
Not enough information to work with really, could you say more about the steps you took in this flash. There is a lot of help here on XDA but only IF enough is known. What you describe is not a common failure. Somethings been left out.
Just have to wonder if you were stock rom prior to the flash, were you unlocked, did the device operate properly before ANY flash was attempted ect....Not knowing were you started and the steps taken make it difficult, xda folks love fixing these things TELL US MORE !!!
PS I'm only here once or twice a month but really have gotten nothing less than the best help here when asked for with better information.
Let me see this telephone is not mine is from a friend that gave to me to fix it, the phone it was unlocked and on the bootloader screen it said security disabled I think something like that,
what it was wrong is that it was stuck on the htc white background
everytime you turn the phone on, I read some threads on how to repair this and found out how to get to the bootloader screen,
then I flashed, Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3_185HSPL it completed and then rebooted, I flashed then Jackos S3 JackFULL 1.4.0, it completed 100% but I got the same error, I read on some thread that you somebody fixed that error by using task 29 so I flashed task 29 and then I flashed the same rom, it was stuck on the same htc screen so I checked on the rom folder there was another file recommended radio Radio_Rhodium_4.49.25.91 I flashed that file to see if it fixed the problem, but after it finished the phone turn itself off and did not start again,
then I checked the battery it had charge,
I tried a different battery nothing,
if I remove the battery slowly I see the red low battery light on for an instant
so the phone is getting power,
I pressed the power button and down button nothing
just the power button nothing,
tried holding the reset button nothing,
it is in a brick state,
is there any hardware mod for this phone,
I fixed a samsung captivate with a tool you created using a micro usb head some resistor in order to put it in a state called download mode,
the only thing I found on how to revive this is this box http://www.gsmserver.com/shop/gsm/riff_box_jtag.php the problem I don't have the money for it...
is that enough information? and of course the rom I use it was a gsm rom
I wonder if a hard reset would snap it into doing something...remove the battery, wait a couple of minutes, put the battery back in.. hold the talk and end buttons down and press the power button...I'm really not sure as I have not experienced this, but...I don't think anything would be a waste of time at this point

oops...oh yeah...if the device does power on and you get a screen press the volume up next and see what if anything happens
that is right I have to try everything, but it didn't work but thanks anyway any suggestions I am still open to try everything...
I know you say the phone is GSM but...could you please tell us which, if any, carrier information the phone was designed for, and which rhodium version it is by looking at the sticker under the battery?
Ive been looking for a while into a solution for your symptoms and what Ive found thus far indicates a wrong radio was installed...CDMA radio to GSM device, or vice versa....there are people on this site who know everything, I am not one of them, but...it might be the case where you use MTTY...a low level type of command you can send to the phone via usb from your PC...I'm still looking...perhaps try looking too and cut the time in half lol...the low level commands can get to the device without it being in bootload screen...I think...as I said, I'm still looking for solutions

Hey guys, I'm new to XDA so please forgive the noob post, I'm just trying to get my phone working again. I broke the screen and now the bottom half of my phone is unresponsive (capacitive keys don't work). I'm rooted with TWRP installed, stock 4.1.2. Everything was fine until my friend thought it would be funny to put a lockscreen on my phone. I am unable to rotate my lockscreen to 270 degrees (how i've been managing to use my device with the help of gravity box on screen navigation keys) and am now permanently locked out of my decice. I can't input the correct pin that he told me (6735) or even incorrectly five times to reset via google account because the "ok" button is located on the part of the screen that I can't click. I thought that hopefully I had left USB debugging on so that I could send an ADB command to unlock my phone but it won't even recognize my device when it's plugged in, meaning I must have unchecked USB debugging. On top of that, my phone is in charge only mode, with the option to switch to USB mass storage stuck behind the lock screen. So my problem is that I want to go into twrp recovery, created a nandroid backup then factory reset my device. But of course, TWRP doesn't rotate either. I can click most of the buttons, including Backup, wipe, etc, but can't actually execute any action because the "swipe to ..." is located on the bottom of the screen - where I can't click. I was wondering if anyone could somehow flip the TWRP program upside down so that I could use it.
I just realized that I don't know how I would get the new version of recovery on my device anyway, because I can't even connect my phone to the computer for it to recognize as mass storage... any suggestions, help, advice, anything! would be very very appreciated. Thanks.
PS - This is MY phone, not stolen, not picked up anywhere, I know my google account info, I know the phone number, I know most everything about it so if you need some sort of verification that it's mine, let me know. I would just like to be able to use my phone again. Thanks

Could I just get a new digitizer, would that fix it?
Would be easier to get digitizer+LCD already put together. I screwed up a new screen on my evo because the LCD didn't get heated up enough to separate the glue. I do have the official service manual for the phone so if u want I can send u what it says to do to separate the LCD and digitizer if u don't want to pay the extra

I can't load anything through ADB because my phone won't connect to the computer - USB debugging is turned off. If I could use ADB I would just use an unlock command to remove the pin.
Thanks though.

That doesn't matter in fastboot. As long as you have the drivers for the o/s to read the device adb will pick it up. In windows 8 you have to install modified drivers for it to read it.
Today I was in my car sitting in a parking lot, had my phone propped on my steering wheel with the txt app open when the screen when blue then shut down. I tried to power it on but it wouldn't come on, I pulled the battery hit the power button, the LG logo came up for a few seconds then shut off and the only way to turn it on again would be to pull the battery. Holding the power and volume rocker button down will turn it on to recovery. The phone is rooted so when I go to factory reset i've had 2 times it loaded to TWERP recovery but then the blue screen would come up again and I can't do anything. Most of the time it will end up in a green screen with the TC Crash, Demigod crash screen. Plugging it into my computer does load it as a device but I'm not able to access the phones storage. Has anyone ran into this issue and first question, is there anyway to recover data? Second question, is this a hardware related issue? I'm about to try and flash it back to stock since I can't get into TWERP but i'll wait for a response before I do that.
I tried to boot to download mode, I hold the volume up rocker and then plug in a USB, it shows download mode icon for a quick second but the screen goes black. I tried the LG flash tool but it doesn't get past step 1. Any one have any ideas i'm fresh out. Only new thing to report is sometimes instead of the green TZ crash i'm getting an orange RMP crash screen but with the same options as the green screen.
Need to know know a little more before I can reach my decision on where to start.

Itsna kernal panick some people claim its from over heat others other issues if ure phonenshows up as qusb bulk or something like that then i believe u can the pin groung is to reset it to get it into bulk mode so from there u reflash all the primary gtp partitions then u can get to download mode to restore using stock tot. Let me no how it goes
I did the steps but it still booted to a RPM CRASH screen, I couldn't get into download mode. I'm trying to flash Cache, System, Userdata, and SB1 now.
So my power button hasnt been working for some time and i cant boot up. It wasn't that big of a problem for some time since i managed to double tap to wake and to put it on a charger and it would boot up after going over 5%. I've just installed a new ROM and it won't boot up its at 25%. Is there a way to boot it up somehow using a pc or something? I have usb debugging enabled and tried starting it up using adb but it doesn't recognize the phone.
When phone is turned off, hold volume up to go to download mode, then press volume down to abort it, he should reset and turn on then.
Or connect cable with volume - pressed to enter download mode.
If your power button is not working, try removing it, cleaning the dust, repairing it, if necressary, it will be easier to boot that way.
PS: If you try it, make a video, or photos, cause you need everything in its place.

In all seriousness though
I'm not sure if the power button is yourissue, you need to make your post a little clearer
My phone has a wearing button, so every time I press it it doesn't always work
You are saying your phone isn't recognized? Did it work before? Did this start happening recently?
I don't think your issue is power button related.
make sure USB debugging is turned on in developer options. That is necessary for adb to connect to device. Try that before the battery....your device should be listed when u type adb devices with USB debugging on. If not what does it list?
It sounds more like the battery. If the phone keeps looping and takes time to sit on charger to power up and battery percentages seem off......then you need to get a replacement battery. I suggest getting an extended battery, there are a lot of knockoff LG batteries online. I've bought one myself and yes its almost identical...but the ink is faded and the top plastic is slightly different. It just did the same thing you are describing
Powerbear, zerolemon are good. You get what u pay for.
Tip: heavier the battery the better quality it is. Your replacement battery should weigh same as the one you currently have if your going to get the LG one

A week ago when i pulled my phone out of my pocket, it was off, tried turning it on, didn't work. When connected to charger nothing happens, tried to go to bootloader/recocvery mode did not work.
After googling all this, i found about field test mode, that also is not working, tried.
Tried charging with stock charger, different charger, USB to laptop... nothing.
However, when phone is connected to laptop, windows 10 notification sound comes up but phone is not detected.
Seems like the soul has left the phone.
Please Help!!
Change out the battery. If that doesn’t work, it also sounds like the Motherboard went out.
Battery dead
The soul must be in sleep,is not dead but the battery is gone
R.I.P battery (we will miss you)
Change you battery dude
;( can't upload pic of problem "network error"
I'll got 4x HTC m9 from an ex HTC employee and he told me one of them had a problem and he wasn't sure really what the problem was but he told me the phone keeps rebooting, so I thought wellllll I flashed like every single galaxy from 1 to 10 and ofcourse i faced some times i did got it semi bricked but after moments of rage and eating excessive amounts of instant noodles I was always luckily able to fix it. Now this m9 says on the screen
Blackbox: Software status modified
Pink: locked
Orange: s-on
Pink : security warning
Got 4 choises
Reboot
Reboot to bootloader
Boot to recovery
Power down
Now all of these options don't work... even power down will reboot back to this screen and recovery option gives message that it's a development version.
Some people claim it's fixable by sending RUU? With Odin or boot.img other story's saying EMMc bricked.. since xda is the only place where I can actually get an answer from people knowing what they are talking about.. is it dead? If it's not I just put some more time in it.. at least the phone gets detected by my PC when my s6 edge had a eMMC brick it would show up as (no USB id for devicediscriptor...

Well,i am not a development or something like that but my idea is(not a good idea but anyway) it seems that you have to download a little lot of Rom's and if non of them works it is a refurbished item from Htc.co (this is my opinion)
For better answer(of course that have intelligent people than me)you better ask them privately

Unable to flash rom trough RUU always get message the battery is below 30% and that cannot be true.
