I've had this phone for 6 months and not noticed this
Can someone tell me if this is normal. Some people are saying it's the camera and it's normal. My phone has a had a few drops, nothing that bad or enough to even dent the phone.
Is there a definitive answer on this?

Yes, it's normal and it is the camera, because it has OIS, am I right?

We only have EIS (electronic image stabilization). But I think too, it's the camera.
Edit: Though if it shouldn't move due to electronic stabilization, it shouldn't make sound either. My model (A505FN) is quiet for shake.

I have FN too and for shake it's quite, only when turining on/switching cameras or when I hardly bang the phone

Why is nobody talking about how slow the front camera is!? This is truly shocking.
Put your camera into front facing mode, wave it from side to side focused on your face and see that SHEER lag! The lag is so great that you can put the front facing camera on someone stood in front of you, and if you turn the phone around fast enough you can still see that subject on the viewfinder when you turn the screen back to facing you.
I don't know if this is due to the UltraPixel camera, or just shoddy camera software. Surely it shouldn't be like this!? Replicated on two O2UK locked models of the M9. Does anyone else have this? I'd say its about 1 and a half seconds out of sync.
Think there may be a problem on your phone. Mine is pretty snappy on the Ultrapixel. Unlocked UK Model.
I Have lag on mine but not that bad, On unbranded uk model
Turn off the make-up mode or whatever it is called. That makes the camera slow.

That's it, turn the Live Makeup mode off and the camera is fast as hell! Soon realized it couldn't be a hardware issue as Snapchat worked just fine. Cheers!

Hi guys.
I have a problem in recent days with my 10. I explain it with some examples.
When I'm working in other apps like Telegram, Viber, Instagram and ... I hear a sound from my phone. It's something like activity of camera lenz. If you want to hear it on your phone you can go to camera and switch between front and rear camera.
My question is why ? When I don't use the camera, why it's lenz should make this sound? Go for check in HTC phone repair?
Regards.

Hm do you mean that nearly inaudible little click when the front camera is activated? I couldnt hear it in a normal environment, had to go to a nearly silent room to hear the one little "click" noise at all.

Yep... I hear it when I'm in bed or when I'm working with computer and my phone is on the table. (@home)
I'm not sure that this sound is for front o rear camera!

I think it's front camera, I can hear it when I switch from selfie to front. But it's nearly inaudible on my device.
Yes, this is a normal sound. Going back to my first phone with a front facing camera (HTC Evo 4G *worst naming ever*). I was all in a tizzy back when live wallpapers became a thing. So of course, I had a 'see through' wall paper, which was just either your front or rear camera being used to 'show through' the phone. Looked cool for awhile, got old though.
Anyway.
Any time I unlocked my phone, I would feel/hear that clicking after awhile. Once you're aware that it makes that noise, you can never really tune it out unfortunately, on any device. You'll notice this on everything more than likely now, like I do. lol
TL/DR:
All devices with digital camera lenses make this barely audible 'clicking' noise. This is the camera simply doing it's thing. Don't stress!
Not all digital camera lenses. More specifically, ones with OIS tend to have audible sound as the lens is stabilized to prevent shaking.

Thank's man ...
I have this phone over 3 month, but why recent days this click sound appeared!?
I have a M7 too, never something heard from it.
I found that when I plug my 10 to the charger this occurred again.

Weird sound when hitting the back, specifically around the camera this sound is generated, someone else happens to this
Yes, the camera has optical image stabilisation (OIS). This allows camera to physically move. When you tap the phone you will hear the camera moving. This is normal.

No, this phone is only have EIS. OIS is too expensive to be implemented into this phone.
And yes, I also experience this weird noise when there's a bump on the top back cover. Don't know what cause this though
Perhaps the vibration motor? I have the same sound.

Oh ok. I saw a teardown video and the camera did move in it's socket when it was touched. So I still think it's the camera shaking that is making that noise.
All previous phones that i've owned had OIS, and they made the exact same faint 'tick' sound near the camera when phone was bumped.
But i guess it could also be the vibration motor, since it's close by the cameras.
It can't be OIS, can it? I don't notice any stabilization in photo mode and in video mode the stabilization feels like that of EIS
I know the back panel of our phone is "plastic", but recently I just realised there's a slight rattling on the top back area when I shake the phone – or rather hit the phone to my hand. There's no such rattling when I shake the bottom part, though. Is it a normal phenomenon in the phone? Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

it sounds even when resting on surfaces in my model a505g
The thread didn't explain anything. One person mentioned it might be because of OIS, but I think we all agree that the phone doesn't have OIS
The autofocus mechanism is a movable part. This sound is produced when this movable part hits the camera housing due to the clearance between them. This is profound in old low quality smartphones.
Very sad it exists in A50.

I have that sound even on my samsung note 5 and it was a flagship device. The sound is a bit different than the a50 but still there is sound.

It will usually be very mild in flagships.
My previous phone MiA1 had no such issue or may be it was too mild to be heard but my first smartphone Micromax canvas 2 had double the sound of A50.
Hold the phone up to your ear like your talking on it and shake it in the direction away from and back to your ear several times, you hear something like somethings loose? I had always brushed it off thinking it was the sliding lens cover of my case but had the case off and noticed it still made the rattling.
same here also
Yes, it's normal. The OIS of the camera make that noise. No worries...

Correct. And that's why camera modules die when they are mounted on a motorcycle or mountain bike ^^ They dont like too much vibrations.
