Double tap to wake not working - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The title says it all.
I bought a white, secondhand V500 and the owner gave me another one, black, with broken screen, for parts.
Seeing what an excellent piece of hardware this tablet is, I ordered and replaced the broken screen. Both tablets came with stock KitKat from LG and both were updated to final RR-Nougat 7.1.2 for V500.
Here's the problem: on stock Kitkat, double-tap to wake worked on both tablets. Inside TWRP it also works on both. However, in RR-N and also in crDroid-O tapping doesn't work on the black tablet. The feature is enabled in Settings, obviously.
I'm out of ideas, any help would be greatly appreciated!

[Q] G3 Nook App Issue

Proud new owner (7/26) of Verizon G3 AND LG G Pad 8.3. Could not pass up the $99.00 offer given with my phone update along with a couple of more sweeteners re the 8.3. So far I like it and it will probably replace my NooK HD+ running Android 4.2.2 in place of the BN software.
MY Question and/or problem:
When using the Nook App on the 8.3, all is well and the bar at the bottom of the page contains both your location slider and, just below it, the "Home, Contents, Search, Text, Brightness, and Details" bar. Everything functioning normally.
However, with my G3 and the same App, all I have at the bottom of the page is the location slider. If the other bar is there it is below the screen level and totally inaccessible. I have even switched the three soft keys at the bottom so that they appear only for the first few seconds after I open the book and then disappear until I do an upswipe to restore them. Still "no joy"!
My main need for this is accessing the "text" button so I can change the text size, spacing, and margins which I cannot currently do.
Any idea as to why this is happening and/or what the fix or workaround may be?
Thanks in advance.
PS: For the first time since I had my original Nook Color and Samsung Galaxy Nexus, I don't feel compelled to root or totally convert either of these two new units. Having completely (and successfully) converted all three (including the HD+) over the last few years to full Android status, I am a bit surprised at this turn of events.
PPS: Just got off the phone with BN tech support and the issue has been kicked upstairs to higher tier. I am supposed to hear back in 24-72 hours.
Could this be some type of 4.4 conflict showing up on the G3 only as everything I have used with 4.2 does not exhibit this issue?
Major Update:
On Friday August 1, Verizon issued an "OTA" to 4.4.2 for the LG G Pad 8.3.
I successfully d/l and installed it. Upon rebooting, I immediately opened the Nook App and it continued to function normally as it had under 4.2.2 with all settings accessible.
So now the G3 and G Pad 8.3 (both Verizon) have the same Android OS (4.4.2) and only the G3 still continues to exhibit no settings access (icon at top of page and bar at bottom both still missing) for the Nook App.Otherwise it (the app) works as it should. No other apps on the G3 (including Kindle) exhibit this or any other issue.
Any ideas, thoughts, and/or possible solutions?
Took both units to Verizon and BN today and "they" are stumped!
Have sent the updated info to BN/Nook tech support and am awaiting a reply,
I have same problem with my AT&T LG G3...
So it does appear to be a Android 4.4 issue or perhaps something to do with LG's skin of 4.4. It's a shame really because I much prefer Nook's reader to Kindle's but I will be purchasing my books through them until Nook fixes this. Let us know if you hear of a solution...

[Q] Touch screen malfunctioning?

Hello guys,
My G3's touch screen has been acting up for a week now and I am seeking help to pin point if it is a hardware issue or a software issue that can be fixed.
Whilst typing (have used different keyboards) I cannot seem to press the letter 'k' and the letter 'r' or any keys directly above or below those keys. I wondered what the problem was and started swiping my screen to see if I can flow through the UI of the phone smoothly. Suffice to say that it didn't which then prompted me to turn on the "Show touch" & "Show touch data" within the developer settings of the phone.
After turning on those two options, I could clearly see that the screen does not recognise any input on two parts of the screen. This can be seen in the screenshots I have posted.. As it shows when swiping on the screen it skips an entire column of the screen on both left and right sides of the screen .
I was hoping someone could shed some light in this issue since I have been trying to troubleshoot this problem with no avail for the past week. If this is hardware related then what would be the best course of action?
Additional Info:
* Have tried different firmware and roms
* Have tried other keyboards like google keyboard and swiftkey
* Have tried to clear cache and factory reset
* Have taken it to phone repair store and they said they would have to replace the LCD.. Thought I'd post here before I go that route.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You're gonna have to replace the digitizer. Unfortunately I had the same issue with my nexus 4. That's why I have the g3 now.

Thank you for your reply.
Was hoping I would not have to go through that route but it seems inevitable .
Is the G3's digitizer and LCD stuck together? If so it'll be a costly replacement :crying:
That I do not know. I know the frustration though. It might be a big charge

Tab S 8.1 Wi-Fi Screen Not Responding

I've recently flashed IronRom onto my tablet. It's been in the closet for a year. Only been in use for less than a month. Today, I was listening to music on the tablet. It was steady in a specific position. I had to skip one track and so I unlocked the tab using my fingerprint and went onto tap the next button. But to my surprise, it did not respond. In fact, it completely stopped responding to any touch instructions. I thought it might have been a rom related problem but then I checked TWRP rec and the problem was present there too. Really weird, cause the tab hadn't even moved an inch from the location it was working perfectly before. So how could this be a loosened wire? Any help, guys (other than sending it for repair)?

Hardware issue or just a bug with ZUI?

I just tried turning on the 'Show surface update' option under 'Developer Options'. The screen flashes randomly even if I just keep the screen on without touching or doing anything with the phone.
I have a Xperia T2 Ultra, and if I try the same thing, the screen will only flash if I touch the screen, it doesn't flash the screen randomly like the ZUK Z2 does.
Is it happening to everyone on Stock Nougat ROM or just me? I am mainly concerned with the touch sensitivity of the phone, cause sometimes I feel, I'm missing out some screen swipes.
Any advice or suggestions?
I don't think the 'Show surface updates' setting is actually intended to show when the screen is touched. I believe it is used to indicate when the content of the screen changes; for example it might flicker if one of the icons in your statusbar changes like mobile/Wi-Fi signal strength or the clock. I guess the option you're actually thinking about is the one which says 'Show taps' under the Input heading, which displays a spot on the screen when the display panel is touched. (I don't know whether this is available in ZUI since i'm running AEX 4.5)

Thank you for the reply. Whatever you said makes complete sense. But the issue is, I have got few Android phones running kitkat, lollipop and marshmallow, these devices only shows surface update on statusbar area if I don't touch the screen. In Z2's case it flashes the complete screen randomly and frequently, I tried leaving it in settings, a picture opened in full screen etc, but same result.
I don't mind if it's a bug with the ROM, I can flash a custom ROM. But if it's caused by a hardware issue, mostly related to touch, then I'm planning to send the device back for repair or replacement. Just going to be 1 week since I bought this device.
Any suggestions?

I don't think there's anything to be worried about. I actually upgraded to a new phone today, and so flashed the Indian version of ZUI (2.5.104 ST) back onto my ZUK Z2 in preparation for selling it on Gumtree. (Which is the British equivalent of Craigslist, for those in the US) I had chance to test what you were talking about and sure enough, the same thing happens on mine; where the entire screen will occasionally flicker even with an image displayed in fullscreen, so that the statusbar icons are hidden. So unless you are noticing any actual problems whilst using the device, I don't believe there's anything to be concerned about at this stage.

Thanks a lot for checking it out for me, really do appreciate it. Was getting increasingly worried about this issue. You are a lifesaver. Thank you again :highfive:

LG V20 US9910h

Hopefully somebody here can help me solve this problem I have, so here it is, I bought my LG V20 about a year and a half ago from Verizon as a VS995. Since then I did the Dirty Santa exploit to unlock the bootloader and root the device. I then tried out a couple of kernels. After I got all set up, about a month later my microphones used for making calls went out on me, this means that if I want to make phone calls I would either have to wear headphones or use speaker mode. Both of the aforementioned options yielded poor quality however, in addition to this my camera will not launch forward facing. When I switch the mode it hangs black for a second and then simply goes right back to rear facing but as a wide angle. I recently flashed a kdz in an attempt to get it back to stock firmware and non root which puts my software Version on US99610n , my Build number is NRD90M, my kernel version is 3.18.31 and Android version is 7.0. Now my power button / fingerprint scanner will not work. I have checked my settings and the fingerprint registration is gone as an option so I'm thinking this is a result of this firmware not supporting the scanner/power button combo. I am hoping to flash the VS995 back somehow but I do not know how as their is an incompatibility error for this while using LGUP/Uppercut. I'm thinking I might be able to spoof my config info to display my phone info as vs995 that way it will let me regardless but I'm not sure where these files are or how many I would have to change. Any ideas on how to accomplish going back to vs995? Please let me know if more information is needed, thanks.
*UPDATE* fingerprint scanner/power button is working again.
