HaHa, i think he need more info about S20 ultra. S10e is a budget flagship in samsung. Whereas S20 ultra is high-end upcoming smartphones. Based on the rumors, it has 108MP primary camera, larger battery, bigger display compared to S20+.

What?
Oookay, this thread is at about 150% pointless on my pointless threads scale.
No need for discussions like this on the forums.

This is kind of like going on a BMW owners forum and asking whether you should by a BMW or an Audi. Look through the threads on this forum and read up on the camera performance (there are lots of examples of photos taken with it on one thread) and general performance. You'll also see where this phone is at right now regarding rooting, bootloader unlocking, custom recovery and ROM development. Look elsewhere for opinions on the other phone. Compare prices and features and then decide which suits your needs and budget better - nobody on here can decide that for you.

Yea you are right, but I actually wanted to know that some people are stating that there is lag while playing games, some are saying phone is not fast charging and some are saying that low light photography is very bad, i just want some light on these issues

I haven't had any performance issues so far. My three complaints are:
1 The phone comes full of bloatware.
2 Unlocking the bootloader is a pain.
3 There aren't many custom roms available yet.
Otherwise I think it's a pretty solid phone. By the way I have the cheep version (Z00AD)

Question about upcoming A9

Do any xda folks know if the promised December update for HTC One A9
will make an unlocked A9 work in the Verizon network? Would like to buy for intro price
if it will work. Thanks.

Don't quote me on this but may be like the Nexus 5x I read about. If you already have a nano sim card activated on vzw network to toss in you should be fine.
It was officially announced or at least has appeared over most of the Android blog sites that Verizon will support the unlocked A9 with a software patch sometime in December.
Droid Life review of the A9 says that it has "abysmal battery life" but is a contender for the phone of the year.

Oh, PULEASE, let's not resurrect that "who designed what first" discussion here!
I have a test A9. Battery life is not "abysmal." Doze mode is quite impressive. Camera is excellent, including OIS. No, I don't want it to replace my own M9, but it's a solid device (and, as always, better than any iphone).

Why Snapdragon 855 variant is ONLY available within U.S

Once again us within the UK and the rest of the world are stuck with the subpar exynos variant.
We all know that the newer exynos version has been terrible in terms of power efficiency ever since the Galaxy S9. Adding further misery, Samsung provides only U.S. limited warranty, which is a joke for a company as big as Samsung.
Just ordered a Xiaomi Mi 9
u also get a 10h SoT with the exynos... and i can unlock it...

Subpar?
Dude they need to actually thorthle down Exynos power to match Snapdragon to be exact.
On S8 exyons is able to record longer with higher frame rate and higher resolution then snapdragon but they disable it so snapdragon could match up

This was true for the s8, but the OP is correct with S9/S10.
If Samsung truly dialed back newer exynos variants, they went too far because the snapdragon variant outperforms it by significant margin.
So if I bought the snapdragon variant in europe via eglobal, I won't be able to root it or am I wrong?

That's ridiculous. They are not doing that.
There's nothing subpar, they need Qualcomm because the USA is stuck in the stone age with their CDMA, Qualcomm is also impeding technological evolution by exploiting patent loopholes in countries with badly made law systems such as that, Qualcomm needs to die.
So far Snapdragons have vastly inferior battery life(have a look at the funny thread), 2/3 of the single core performance and 3 to 4 times higher memory delay, even the first iteration of ddr3 performs better.
But yeah have fun with your Chinese flagship I guess, let the fake Antutu scores keep you warm

I am kinda amazed that you don't know that since you are in the phone's now more than me. But anyway this is the quote from some of the sites that you can find with Google.
Although the camera sensors on last year’s Samsung flagships were capable pf it, it was only this year that Samsung switched on 4K/60p video recording. Because it is only with the Snapdragon 845 that Qualcomm finally supported that feature too. That said, last year’s Samsung Exynos 8895 were already capable of that high resolution, high frame rate recording. But to play fair with Snapdragon 835 variants, Samsung disabled the feature.

The Exynos 9820, like previous Exynos chips, has better video recording capabilities than the competing Snapdragon chip. The 9820, for example, can record 8K videos at 30 fps (frames per second) and 4K videos at 150 fps. The Snapdragon 855, meanwhile, seems to only support 4K recording at 60 fps like the Snapdragon 845, which means Samsung is unlikely to offer [email protected] fps or [email protected] fps in any market. The 855 does, however, get the ability to record HDR videos, something Samsung isn’t confirming or denying for the 9820 just yet.

It's probably a lot to do with cost.
Qualcomm have Samsung over a barrel. They basically have to use the Snapdragon for the US devices, for the CDMA chipsets for the US networks that still use CDMA. It was either that or use Exynos chipset with Qualcomm radios, which Qualcomm were going to charge a fortune for.
And the rest of the world (except a couple of Asian countries) get Exynos, probably because it's cheaper. And developed by Samsung, so they have complete control over it.
It is also available as SM-G9750/DS (China version sourced from Hong Kong)

Wow I'm kind of amazed you would do virtually zero research. Based on anantech scores the Samsung varient is behind in virtually every category and also trailing the 845 version in many categories.
And just so you know I've done nothing with phones for years. I did write a few apps but I've not had the time in a while so I'm very out of it loop. I just know that Qualcomm is not behind Samsung in chip making. They are also better optimized and more power efficient.

Then we agree that we disagree. I know potential of Exynos is more capable of Snapdragon in terms of camera department. They are similar of course I can't say one is better then the other. And to be honest for me few thousand points more on some bench doesn't mean a penny. It will load app 0.1 sec faster, do I need it? No. Would I like better camera like 4K 150fps well kinda yes but still to be honest kinda not worthy cuz I still record 1080p 60fps.
No bad feelings man, I wish you all the best just a little argumentative conversation ?

What's almost nonexistent is development other than twrp and root for said devices.

S20+ or OnePlus 8 pro?

I have pre-ordered S20+(Exynos), but did not get the phone because of lockdown.. as now OnePlus 8 pro lunched. Please suggest me what should I do? Cancel the s20+ pre-order & go for the OnePlus 8pro or go for S20+? My priority is camera performance..

S20+ absolutely no question. OnePlus has been putting mediocre cameras in their phones and will likely never change that. I bought into the bs that my OnePlus 6 had nearly flagship camera quality when I bought it, it sure did not. That's how OnePlus is. Solid build quality, decent hardware, tiny battery, and flagship prices now. They're not the worst phones by any means but just about every major manufacturer's flagships are better.
S20+:The phone heats up a lot, apps crash, battery life is not whats advertised. We currently do not purchase One Plus 8 Pro

You are right but I was disappointed with the S10 camera and am very disappointed with the S20+ I am actually thinking of selling my S20+ to get the OP8 Pro. The hardware in the samsung is probably better but I am just not having their software choices.
I'd buy the 8 Pro in a heartbeat. Using the S20+ and I'm disappointed with the camera.
Definitely no for S20 series exynos.
This time Samsung screwed up the s20 series with exynos cpu. We are facing one or the other problems with their cumulative updates.
So for they are not able to resolve battery life, phone overheating.
Now I believe samsung have taken for granted their fan base.
They are under assumption, the huge fan base will just buy whatever they throw at us & keep waiting with hopes that next update may resolve the issue.
Very frustrating to use s20. (was supposed to get ultra, but knowing the camera issue I skip to get base variant S20. to realize even this also have many issue).
Intermittently even on longer ph calls the phone exceed 40 deg & becomes hard to hold on to ears.
Forget about playing games or making video. Now aim forced to use the phone with 60hz and power save mode, under fear it may catch fire. Hahahah.
Really sometimes with 120hz it becomes hot pan. Quickly got to refrain from using the phone.
I really don’t understand what they have made this out off.
Been using samsung device from past 5 years.
We buy the brand on release dates with trust & faith. If this is how they show credibility.
Definitely next time got to think twice to jump in.
For sure the sales fig will make them to realize their mistakes.
Both are crazy good phones. As good as oneplus is and I loved their phones up til theb7 pro, they have some quirks I can't get past. Biggest is DEEP SLEEP. Sometimes I would wake up and phone would be unresponsive. Had to force reboot. Samsunf never has those problems. One ui 2.1 makes the software fast fluid and completely usable. Im happy with my s20 plus. It ended up being cheaper than the onepkusnhere in the US when buying with a student discount.
I think a lot depends on where you’re from, if like me uk then the oneplus 8 pro is a no brainer. I’m sure I would have kept my Samsung had it not had the exynos chip in it.
for me the decision was made when I popped to shops in car I put a YouTube video on literly 5 minutes and the phone was thermal throttling 120hz > 30hz bearing in mind its only spring in uk .. so, it can only get worse
If only the p40 pro had google :/

So the OnePlus 8 Pro camera is garbage because you have first-hand experience with it, right? Yeah ok.
I have a S20+ and I love it. However, if I needed a new phone now, I'd seriously consider the OPO 8 Pro or even the "regular" OPO 8. I haven't read reviews of the camera, but most people just need a camera to post to social media and share with friends, who will view the photos on another phone. Is the S20 / S20+ / Ultra worth the extra money? Probably not. However, Samsung is offering some great trade-in deals, which is why I traded in my Note 10. If Samsung hadn't offered me $700 towards the purchase of a S20+, I'd still be using my Note 10 and probably contemplating buying a OPO 8 right now.

I am about to eBay my S20+ for the same reasons. Love the form factor, hate the camera and Exynos shortcomings in the UK we even pay more for the inferior experience.
Have considered the P40 pro several times now, I'd mostly be totally ok with no google but it is the big exceptions like no Google Pay, banking apps and the inevitable constant faff to get other stuff working, such a shame, I'd order one immediately but for this. I have also considered more than once going back to a P30 pro, I'd still bank on the camera being better than the S20.
Re OnePlus at current prices I cannot see a reason to pick the standard 8 over the 7T Pro or even 7 Pro.
Op 7 Pro.

And it winds up costing the same if you trade in because One+ is going to offer $400 tops for the Note 10 unfortunately.

I'm OK with something that pops up as long as it doesn't mean the device has no IP rating.

Funny. Go look at the S20 forums and you will see it's not so great
maybe mi 10 pro ?
Easy. If you live in a country where you can only get the S20 Exynos variant? Go for OnePlus 8 Pro.
You live in a place where you can get the S20 Snapdragon? You ask yourself what you like best, a more stock Android experience or One UI? And then decide base on that.
Phones are pretty similar, comparing S20+ vs OnePlus 8 Pro. Both have 6.7" displays. Both 120hz. Both with great color reproduction, viewing angles and brightness. Memory and storage is great on both. Main camera is great on both, wide angle is mixed, telephoto is better on the S20+ but not by that much. Both have dual SIM but S20 has the option to one SIM and SDCard.
Phones are pretty similar on the spec sheet if buying the Snapdragon. Exynos is ****! I got one, overheats, battery don't last long enough and performance? Performance is AWFUL! Stutters here and there, and when it heats up? Phone caps at 60hz.

Wow it's dead here why?

I'm surprised there's literally no support or any questions posed for this phone.
I would have expected minimum traffic but literally my thread is the first thread.
If anyone is reading this out there reach out and perhaps you have answers for me?

There's a bit more going on the the Find X2 Pro forums - seems most have plumped for that variant at present. Plus neither have been mass-market released outside of Asia yet.
Any idea about its haptics motor feedback?
Comparable to pixels or iPhone
I took the plunge. Here in the UK, its £769 and it also comes with a £150 amazon voucher so this pushes it down to around £619,which is a no brainer. I'm loving it so far. I need more time to do a better review of my thoughts. It's fast though coming from a oneplus 8.
Bought mine today and said bye to my note4. Are pro roms compatible?
Got this in India at decent price similar to Oneplus 8 pro. Needless to say the phone is beast. I thought with [email protected], it'll suck the battery but believe me it is better than S20+ in terms of battery and performance.
Slightly dissappointed to see that there are not much post around for this device. I think moderators could have merged the threads of Pro and non-pro version.
