Hi guys,
I have been using Uni for almost a year. The most annoying thing about Uni is I always miss a call whenever someone calls me. The reason is, the uni only starts ringing after 4-5 seconds (sometimes more) after the caller dialed my number. By the time I want to accept the call, the caller has already hung up.
I have tried to search through the forums but couldnt find any posts regarding this issue. (Maybe I never look hard enough). So I post it here since there are so many senior Uni user here and someone might give some ideas how to resolve it.
Thanks in advance.
Hello all, I am new the the forum !
I have the same problem on my qtek 9000. On top of that is the volume of an incomming phonecall not load enough. I am using a program called ringo ringtones in order to use MP3 as ringtones.
As a PDA is the 9000 great but as a phone...well it could be a lot better.
Anybody any idea what could be the reason of the delay of an incomming phonecall and the low volume...

Did not have low volume problem since last orange Rom (June 06)
for Ring delay you can use : Tweaks2k2
http://www.tweaks2k2.com/portal/staticpages/index.php?page=20050224182009983
The volume is loud enough if a listen to the ringtone in ringo ringtones or even in windows, but when I receive an incoming call there is a big difference in the volume...
the problem usually comes when you use vibrate with tones. try to remove the vibrate and you would notice that the phone responds much faster with just the tones.

Is there a way other than using tweaks2k2? For example registry modification..
Yes, I have switched to tones only and the phone starts calling after the 1st ring...even the volume seems solved now...
THX guys...!

Ring Delay Solved
Someone told me to look here

Interesting...but it seems that it only works with wav. files.
I have a mix of MP3 and Wav files. I wil use Audacity to boost the volume of the mp3 files...Will keep you updated...

I actually downloaded the cab files and tried it on my Uni. And it worked like a charm. You can hear the ring almost immediately after the caller calls, and the ring volume is loud enough. The catch is, you have to use 'ring' only and .wav files for your ring tone.
But, when I'm in standby mode, the delay is still there. It takes time for it to power up and ring. So I disable power off and close the clamshell to conserve battery power. The device works good in power up mode, not in standby mode.
When I have the Q in StBy mode in ring only, it takes 1 ring before my phone starts calling...Thats an acceptable delay for me. I am not gonna instal the cab files as I would like to keep using MP3 and wav files...As my wife complained about here P800 being not loud enough I will try to boost the volume of here ringtones using the program audacity. I will be happy if I could solve it in this way!

Change ringtone/vibrate/LED flash characteristics
If you would like more control over how your device rings/vibrates/flashes its LEDs on events, you can can change the Script values of these events. For example, for an incoming call performing 'activate device, play ringtone, wait 3 seconds, repeat':
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "apw3r" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
For performing 'active device, set volume to 33%, play ringtone, set volume to 67%, play ringtone, set volume to 100%, play ringtone (no repeat)':
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Script = "ac33pc67pc100p" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
The following are the full codes available to you. Please note that all the codes are executed simultaneously except after a ringtone play / wait code. E.g. 'v1p' will vibrate and play at the same time, while vibrating for 1 second. But 'pv1' will play the ringtone through all the way first, then start vibrating for 1 second.
a = activate device
cN = set volume to N in percentage max volume
fN = flash notification LED for N seconds
p = play ringtone. Note that this will play the ringtone all the way through before continuing with the next code.
r = repeat. Note that this should be the last code in your Script string, if used at all.
vN = vibrate for N seconds
wN = wait for N seconds. Note that the device will wait this long before continuing with the next code.

Try this
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\"
Change "CacheSize" value from "0" naar "4096".
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize=0x1000(4096)"
Change "EnableCache" value to "1"
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\"
Change "ReplStoreCacheSize" value to "4096"

Doesnt work either.
But I solved the problem already thanks to craigiecraigie4 hints, I just need to transfer my ringtones and contact pictures to internal memory instead of storage card and the delay is gone. Maybe I'm using a low speed storage card so it takes time to access all the data from there.
Hi,
Is there any hack/option/software to change the softkey(s) when the phone is ringing? ive tried a search but the utils seem to cover the softkeys during idle time.
My actual problem is, the Oribt is docked in the brodit holder running Tomtom, incoming call brings the notification window to the top, with the option to answer or reject - and return to tomtom.
But.. if the phone is 'keylocked' - as tomtom is now on top (after the call is answered) again there seems to be no way (without exiting tomtom) to get back to the today screen to unlock the lock, to then get to the speaker button - All a bit of a hassle when driving!!!
So what im looking for it to change the 'Answer' softkey to Answer on Speaker
Phonealarm will somewhat allow this through profiles, but i'll never remember to change profiles each time im in the car!!
Any Ideas anyone?
Bump.
Any Ideas anyone?
Unfortunately no solution, but as I have the same problem I will risk a small kick
--EDIT--
And a small search in the manual gave me this answer:
During a call, tap Speaker On, or press and
hold TALK until the speakerphone turns on. The
speakerphone icon ( ) appears in the title bar.
Now see if it works during TOMTOM operation
Originaly posted this in the Nike Accessory section, but this device has worked on a couple of my phones so I thought it would be great to post here a well. I decided to write this post after testing for two weeks to make sure my excitement has held up to the initial expectations and to see if any woes present itself. So far I stand by my initial comment; this is the best Windows Mobile accessory I have found to date.
I originally bought this device as a GPS for my car and thought the bluetooth capability would be an added bonus. The handsfree capability of this device is by far the most impressive use of bluetooth I have seen. I have only tested this on the HTC Touch Dual 20 Key (Nike), compatibility and functionality may vary for other devices. So far no real problems; it connects, it works as stated and quite well too.
Highlighted capbilites in order of importance/functionality (to me):
(see screen shots for examples)
Handsfree Bluetooth carkit
Phonebook retrieval with Spell/Search Function
(dynamicaly uses phone address book not programed GPS contacts)
On Screen Dailer/Phone Pad.
Incoming Call Notification (image shows number but also displays name)
Call History (From phone, not GPS)
Phone Status (Signal/Battery)
Loud Speaker
Great Mic w/External Mic hookup
Voice Comand/Dail Compatible
General use description - Use images below for reference:
Device connects within 6-20 seconds after initial GPS bootup(about 20 seconds)
When calls come in there is an easy to use screen with Answer or Ignore option.
To make calls goto the main screen, press phone icon and select either phonebook where you can spell name and it will narrow down, or you can voice dail or use your call records or look up Point of interest and select dail from the results.
Call options let you pull up the dailer, mute the phone or transfer audio back to the phone while you are in a call. You can navigate while in a call, press the red call status button in the map mode to to see the status or end a call quickly.
I have so much more to tell you about but I will leave with this and for anybody to ask questions.
Like everything in the world there are always flaws or downsides. Here are a few (not necisarily flaws but fixes that would have made it better)
I listed voice dail last because the use is great but the audio feedback/voice prompt is quiet and I felt was least usefull in comparison to the other features. (using MS Voice Command 1.6) Voice recognition works great with the Nike but it requres a few key presses to initiate through the on screen buttons.
This GPS can send and receive text messages and read incoming aloud but this feature is not compatible with this phone. Maybe we could fix this another time friends!
Slow Device Bootup (20 secs), but fast paring most times after bootup. I have this device permanetly mounted and the slow boot doesnt bother me ever; its rare when I get a call before I can even pull out of the garage but If I do it will connect within seconds.
Thats all for now but if your interested this device retailed for about 600usd, I got mine on clearance for about 350usd.
Have a good one

Thanks !!!

How do you get Voice Command 1.6 to respond? I have a Nuvi 680 and Tilt but nothing happens when I press Voice Dial.
I rarely make calls in my car, so I do not know if this was much of an issue on my older head unit*, or if it was a symptom prior to root.
I have a new unit from Pumpkin - MTC8-KLD6-V2.81
Rooted with Malaysk's latest ROM
My phone (HTC M8) is connected through bluetooth. Music plays just fine through the system.
When I make a call, however;
1) Music Stops and head unit goes silent (not a problem)
2) I hear a bit of static (I have had low volume static since I upgraded to Malaysk if the head unit is on and nothing is playing)(again, not really a problem)
3) Phone starts to make a call.
4) Static suddenly goes away, as if the volume was suddenly turned down
5) I can barely hear the phone ring through the head unit.
I have tried turning up the volume all the way on the phone (volume on the phone seems to do nothing when in a bluetooth call) and turning up the head unit. If I have the head unit all the way up, I CAN hear reasonably well, but that's at a volume of 30 when everything else plays loud enough at 5.
I have looked for different setting on the phone and on the head unit and have found nothing. I have adjusted the Factory Settings -> Audio, but that changes bluetooth as a whole and make the music play too loud.
I would say that the issue is is similar to switching the phone from "regular" (where 1-10 is set for being near one's ear) to "speaker" (where 1-10 can be heard across the room) and the phone is telling the head unit to stay at "regular".
Actually, on my first head unit the problem was just the opposite and phone calls were always way too loud.
Anyone have ideas on other settings I should try?
Thanks
I think there are options in the factory settings are for individual volume controls.

There are, but the option is for "Bluetooth" in general.
Bluetooth itself is fine, and I can listen to music from my phone through Bluetooth at whatever level I choose. The problem is that when it switches to phone (dialing out or coming in) the volume drops drastically and I have to turn the head unit's volume up all the way to hear at all. That means the music from Bluetooth will come back at speaker (or at least ear) damaging levels once the call ends.
If adjusting the BT volume is not enough, test with others volume settings lowering/raising some of them.
the norm is the hands free on these units are not the best and there are some mods out there on the forum..
Listening to music I have no problem with sound, but when someone calls and I take the call through the headunit I can barely hear them. Anyway fix to this problem?
In the factory advanced settings (the 126 password) there is a tab for various volumes - radio, music, bluetooth, phone etc. Check the values there in case phone or bluetooth are set too low.
Which volume is necessary to increase?
Changing bluetooth volume in that menu has no effect on calls, and there is no option like "voice" or "phone". Anyone else figure this out? It's almost unusably quiet even at maximum volume. The slightest road noise makes the other party inaudible.
Are you're front channels connected?
On some of these chinese units bluetooth phone audio as well as nav audio is routed to the front channels only.
