Hello guys! We just bought this Philips TV and was not aware it is using this Saphi OS instead of the Android OS we usually find on Android TVs. I have some questions about this TV.
1.) Any users of the OS that have find several key apps that works well with the TV? (e.g. Netflix, Youtube and other useful apps)
2.) Do you know if this OS was just recently implemented and hopefully get better even if it is intended for entry level TVs? The firmware on my TV was made on June 2019 even if it is just built on Android 6.0.
There's no option on exchanging the TV and since most users are not tech savvy, I'm focused more on using it to its full potential.
Same Prob
Same here. We just bought the same tv yesterday and we were told it was an android tv. Netflix was installed manually from a usb flashdrive and youtube. Youtube was working but Im having an error in the Netflix.
I hope there's a fix on this. The TV is great, but we need netflix.

Sir, this is the specs of the TV
Android Version: 6.0
Software Version: V1.0.5
Model 40PFT5883/71
UI: Philips One UX
Saphi OS to Android TV would be amazing. I'd rather pay for development of such cfw/rom then buying extra device like Chromecast/TV box. Saphi OS is very non user friendly, video player is powerful but with very limited options with subtitles (no load option), apps are limited and few.
40fpt5883 complete Android solution available

Hi All,
Is it possible to download the Android TV app and install it on a standard Android box?
Also iv noticed apps such as 'IGN for android TV' view differently and more conveniently in TV mode rather unlike the phone version of the app. So the IGN android TV app displays everything neatly for TV mode but the phone version has a very different layout. Is it possible to install android TV apps on standard android box or switch the viewing mode? Im trying to get the Android TV mode experience on a standard box. Does anyone know how to do this please?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks.
No

Hello guys, I purchased XIAOMI 4a smart TV, inbuilt patchwall UI is no doubt good for general purpose, but when you want to play games and do many things like doing on smartphone, it is not upto the mark for me. I want Remix os as an option for this TV.
There is Bluetooth drivers folder in root directory but you can't use Bluetooth in it. (Intentionally not provided)
-----------No support for game controller to emulate touch control as in Remix os.---------------
You can't create wifi hotspot.
And many more.....
Also if someone can give me ideas to emulate touch via Xbox controller, it would be great help.
Edit:
I tried to install Google play store TV , Google account manager, play services, and service framework. Everything installed but after opening play store it gets force closed each time.
What is the display size?
43"
Lets open a common thread for all the MiTV owner to share ideas and know-how regardless of tv model and versions available as well as regions. Hoping a development and mod could be bring together.
Install this app and share me the screenshot.

Have a look at this. It will give you some insight of how wierd it us to do so.
Hey guys, this is to inform you all regarding this model is added in "certified Android Devices" list, so in near future you will get Android support officially.
And if some development as in progress than you might get chance to have different rom support on it.
Hey friends,
This model is about to get android pie update officially.
Bro I didn't got it yet your post is 2 years old please help me
Which TV model is yours ?
If this has been asked elsewhere, I apologize.
I have a Philips Android TV (android 10), and I'd like to use it as an extended display for my windows 10 laptop.
From what I've read, it's supposed to be supported kinda automatically by windows since both devices are on the same network, but windows 10 can't find the TV as a display device. It was my understanding that since both devices use/support Miracast then it should just work but ... not for me
Unless I'm missing something Teamviewer, VNC, etc all just mirror the display - I want to be able to use the TV as a true second monitor.
Possible?
Thanks in advance!
HI,
no - Android TV does not support Miracast - only Chromecast
Just use the Google Chrome browser on your PC to cast your Desktop.

I appreciate the response. Before posting my question, I googled it and the first answer said it was supported - I should have read further - my bad.
I'm aware of (and use) Chrome remote desktop which works great, but I'm looking for an extended desktop solution, not simply mirroring.
Thanks for your time. GC

Hi Gneechee,
you can try Spacedesk.
For me it works like a charm. (Philips Android TV)
In Windows - your TV appears as a real second screen - with the advantage of a wireless screen.
Best

Hey there Hans, thanks for responding!
Not sure why, but the Spacedesk android app isn't available for Android TV, so I just grabbed the APK and sideloaded it ... and it's working just fine!
Sideloading is my new best friend. haha
(maybe that should be on a T-shirt <G>)
Anyway, thanks mucho lots!

Various Android TVs come with Miracast / Screen Mirror Apps / Feature inbuilt - Maybe ought to check if yours does?

Hi,
proposal: install latest firmware + use an HDMI stick with Android TV.

Hey guys,
New here, expanding my horizon trying to learn new things.
I'm stuck with this TV, not sure if i should sell or try my luck and change this idiocy of an Android Platform Parody?
Not sure how to describe it!!
Even though its a 2015, but it really is a great TV, minus the smart part, which is curable with the likes of a Xiaomi Mi Box S, Amazon Fire TV Stick 4k and such.
Is there a way to change the platform, install a real Android TV platform, this particular Philips TV does not even have Google Play Store!!!! ( )
HI,
it's a 2019 TV... and it's a Linux based OS called "Saphi" (no ATV at all) - latest firmware is TPM196E_091.004.094.001
You cannot change the OS - use a Fire TV stick...
