[Q] Lock Screen Password Reset?

Hi All,
My 10 y.o. son changed the lockscreen password on his Kindle Fire 2 HD 7" and is now unable to access. He has used all but 2 of the allowed unlock attempts, and is now 2 tries away from an automatic factory reset. The device has all stock settings, has not been rooted nor any other modifications. I'm trying to figure out if there is anything I can do to crack/read/reset the lockscreen PIN / password with the device in its current state, or if a factory reset is the only option? The big issue is he does not want to lose his game save data. I work in IT, and am very comfortable with both Linux & Windows command line tools. Is it possible for me to access the files on his Kindle, or to perform root modifications while unable to get past the lock screen password? I have read many posts on this forum, but cannot find one which speaks to my specific situation. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Thanks for the link; I am not sure if USB Debugging / Enable ADB is enabled on this Kindle Fire HD device. If it is not, will this approach work? Since the lock screen password is unknown, I am not able to go into the device & check/modify this setting.
The YouTube video is not of practical use, since I am trying to avoid having to perform a factory reset.

No, the instructions there assume you have debugging enabled AND your computer is added to the list of authorized computers (on the device) to send adb commands. That's a nice little security feature Google added recently to prevent stolen devices from being hacked into

Thanks, so if I'm reading this correctly - if I am unable to connect via ADB, I have no option except for the factory reset? Am I able to root the device while the lock screen password is unknown, or would that process also be blocked to me? The factory reset is easy enough, and I know we can reinstall his games, apps, and books - but the big problem (for my son at least!) is that he will lose all of his Dragonvale progress save data!
I have a different approach on it that may be more complicated and I don't know the full method of doing this, but if u can flash twrp onto the recovery and the custom bootloader for kf2 (is it fff?) Then in twrp u could mount the partition, plug it into your pc, and copy the data folder for that game. But I am unfamiliar with the process for modifying the boot loader on kf2's since I don't have one. I know u could probably flash twrp from fastboot, but idk if the kf2 has be booted up with adb and root to install fff. Probably could force it into recovery by softbricking it but I don't suggest doing that from fastboot because it might hard brick if u flash a bad image for all I know. Only way I can think of safely getting it to soft brick and go into twrp is to get someone else with a rooted kf2 to do something like use adb to move their framework-res.apk to sdcard and then backup the system partition while the kindle is in a broken state and pull the backup, then put their framework back, chmod it and reboot and hand u the system image that's broken so u could flash it from fastboot. Usually when you do something like this the ki dle will go into recovery. Told ya my method was really complicated and well slightly risky.

As you are an IT experts, you may try to unlock your lock screen password with some free tool, such as Ophcrack. Also you can try other Windows Password Recovery tools to keep all data safe. I got this Youtube video: youtu.be/QyGptsC3VLg

[HELP] Can't update recovery / Can't bypass 'Just a sec' dialogue in setup wizard.

I need help with my Honor 8 Pro.
So, I unlocked my bootloader and installed TWRP but after some days I screwed up something and the TWRP's gone and now there's just the erecovery available (However its only giving me 'Update and reset' option instead of usual wiping and it's failing to update itself on clicking that option)
Second part is, I can boot my device but its getting stuck on 'Wait a sec' screen after entering WiFi details in the setup wizard (and I can't bypass it because of 'The way you restored factory settings may pose security risks. Please verify your identity with your Google account' message)
Any help would be appreciated.
P.s. USB debugging is turned off so phone is not getting detecting in ADB/Fastboot

authentication required...please sign in to your google account??

I'm considering the purchase of a nexus 7 2013 32gb for really cheap. However it has "authentication req. you need to sign in to your google account" on the screen. How do I get around this without the password?
TIA!
Why dont you buy a Chuwi hi9 air ?

Let's see if I can actually answer the question at hand.
When does it show this? If it's at boot, then the tablet was wiped from recovery mode and there's no skipping it.
It's to prevent theft. You have to enter the enter the account and password the device was last on then factory reset from settings.
If it's not at boot then factory reset from settings.

The authentication prompt comes from Factory Reset Protection (FRP) which requires wifi/online check so it is not implemented in boot/bootloader but in OS. FRP bypass on N7'13 is easy because the bootloader is simple to unlock and then all partitions can be accessed. The OS hides FRP data most likely on the 'persist' partition and it can be cleared with a fresh P4 image...

Should this not solve the problem, then finding the FRP's hiding spot will not be difficult. In any case, flashing LineageOS w/o gapps should sidestep FRP entirely.

G960F - Knox Enrollment on first configuration

Hello everyone,
I've needed to replace a motherboard for a friend of mine, bought on Aliexpress, installed but no matter which fw version I install, it starts the Knox Enrollment procedure after entering any internet source.
Motherboard works fine, GSM signal too. IMEI checked on imei.info, confirmed to be an S9.
Factory data reset missing both from recovery and General management.
In Settings>About Phone>Software Information is present "Knox Configure" it tells me that "Your phone is configured for Samsung Electronics UK" with phone number and email. Latest profile applied: RDU S9.
Firmware downloaded from Frijia.
DrParser mode, in usb settings is missing ADB. Ther's only "rndis+acm+dm".
Q1: If someone put personal information in this phone (photos, accounts and so on) are visible from the owner of Knox account with motherboard's Imei binded in?
Q2: there's a way to fix this issue?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

[Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite (gauguin)] need help for firehose file patching

My mi11 bricked. The screen only shows errors: system ui isn't responding,I entered recovery mode and then upgraded to the latest system now.but nothing changed.I also restored the factory settings, but the problem has not been resolved.
Miflash error: Flashing is not allowed in Bootloader Lock Stateso,i need help for the firehose file patched to skip the EDL authentication for flash rom (gauguin_images_V13.0.11.0.SJSEUXM)
Many thanks for your help .
It will be you are hard to find. Weather try in developer options to unlock bootloader wait 7 days and flash again
its bricked.Unable to enter settings, unable to open developer options
I bought a second-hand mobile phone to restore, because the display was broken, the seller said that there were no associated accounts, as the display did not show an image and only sound, I deduced that everything was going well, when I tried I found that I had an MI account associated. the seller don't know also the mi account information, now I can't use it at all, I didn't want to spend more money on the phone so I tried everything that is within reach on the internet. The mobile has:
1. My account (I don't have the information)
2. Impossible to unlock the bootloader (I can't access the mobile phone)
3. Impossible to enable debug mode (I can't access the mobile phone)
4. I can connect in fastbook
5. I can connect in adb sideload
6. I can connect in EDL mode (Qualcomm 9008)
I tried QPST, QFIL, but it always gives an error, maybe because of the firehose.
As the bootloader is blocked, I have no more chances for free, the last hope was to try Firehose in Auth for this model, but I can't find it anywhere.
The cell phone does not detect the Touch, and every time I turn it off it restarts automatically. However I can use a mouse in OTG.
I thought if I did a flash it would solve it too.
The last solution is to pay someone who can do the job and guarantee that it will work without restrictions, for that you would also have to find someone you can trust.
