Screen protection on 10+ - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Wondering if anyone has removed the factory screen protector on the Note 10+? Mine since putting it in my pocket has become all scratched up. I'm thinking of removing the OEM screen protector and replacing it with something similar like the white dome.
Has anyone removed the OEM protector?
I had a Note 8 and used the zagg and it was great!!! Although they haven't released one yet for the 10+, the White Dome is the closest to the OEM. Ideally I would like to get the OEM one from Samsung but I dont know where to get it???

Buy whitedome or amfirm

I just removed mine two days ago, it became scratched, and I could not stand it, it lasted looking fine for about 3 months, which was totally expected being made of plastic

been using the whitestone dome since launch, fingerprint scanner works and it's still in perfect condition, I would strongly recommend that and just making sure you install it too the letter of the install instructions, better to take a while to install and have it work well rather than try to rush it.

It's a plastic film. Peel it off...
Don't install another one on top of it.

You can remove the OEM protector by simply pulling it off.

They have released the Zagg Invishield for the note 10+. I just applied mine yesterday after my OEM screen protector was looking a bit ****

it's no different to a cheap plastic film other than it being better fitted and sized due to being applied at the factory, just like any other protector carefully lift a corner then just peel it off and it should come off clean. then just do the normal cleaning with the wipes and such before applying the new protector.

It's quite a bit better than the plastic ones you buy because it cured and sticks to the edges. Those plastic ones never work out

never said it wasn't but as far as removing it, it is no different.

I was impressed with hoiw well the original plastic screen protector worked - but it did begin to peel in time. I discovered several plastic screen protectors that have worked very well. One in particular that I like is the Otao Note 10 Plus Screen Protector - TPU - it comes with a tool for installing the screen protector with optimum placement - you can find it here - 3 screen protectors in each package - good prices - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VHBNRJP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Hope this helps you

Samsung screen protector for S10+

Has anyone been able to purchase the stock original screen protector that came with the phone? I swear I saw it briefly on Samsung Canada site under accessories page but it's no where to be found now.
Stock protector feels so smooth once you applied a oleophobic coating on it! Not to mention perfect fitment for the phone.
Part number: ETFG975CTEGCA
Does UK, US or other country Samsung sells the stock protector?
Thanks

I believe they're 18.99 for Samsung UK (ET-FG975CTEGWW). Samsung US has a supply of them, but they are not accessible via sales.
It is 19.99 here in the States.
I was able to purchase one but not going to get it shipped till 4/5.

Got myself a Gadgetshieldz screen guard for the S10+ when I ordered my skin from them. It’s a self healing one and no scratches till now and most importantly it works fine with the fingerprint scanner. This one looks much better than the actual Pre-installed Samsung screen guard. The screen and guard cost me only around 10$ including shipping.

To each his own I guess, I hate self healing skins as they have a orange peel finish and it drags/not smooth. The Samsung original one is PET material, not as smooth as glass but much better than self healing protector.

I'm using the screen protector for a while, No orange peel effect. And it is not a glass protector, It's a plastic protector as you know it's more smooth than glass.

How do you apply the oleophovic coat? Where can I find it?
You get 2 protectors (3-5 would've been nice) and they are made in Korea just like the phone. The packaging mentions shock protection, dunno how valid that statement is!
Otao Screen Protector for S10 Plus
I always liked the GLASS Otao Screen Protectors so I thought I would try the plastic one when it came out on Amazon. To Be honest, I was very pleasantly surprised.
Easy to install (Dry install and not wet) and there were no bubbles or any issue after I installed. I have been using it with a Case (Ringe Crystal Fusion) for about a week and I am very happy with it. Fingerprints work fine with it.

Do these have the same cutout for the front camera or is the whole corner cutout?

I've been using these for the last 3 devices. No issues. On my S10+ the top keeps trying to lift. I'm on my 4th one now and about to give up. They install perfect reach time but after a few days you can see it starting to lift near the top bezel. No case touching it. Anyone else having these issues?

I have the same issue without a case as well. If you look closely you'll see that there is still a thin strip of adhesive keeping it dust tight but still lifting around the edges.
Are there any dry application screen protectors that cover the entire screen like Samsung protector? Those case friendly protectors look weird since they leave margins on the display

Same here, i have been using them since Galaxy S8+, never had any issues, once fitted it stayed good until damaged or removed. Now for S10+ i've had 3 replacements under warranty as it is lifting up or peeling of as they call it, and it is not even close to the edge, i have another replacement waiting to be fitted so i will try to put more glue maybe? as it looks like there is just about in the tube, I am so tempted to remove it and have just natural screen without any protectors but it is an expensive phone
All sold out here

Preinstalled screen protector?

As titled.
Does the note 10 + come with a preinstalled screen protector?
I believe the s10 came with them.
I was told it does just like the s10. No case though(only international)
Yes, saw on YouTube video. It comes with preinstalled screen protector. In indian units transparent back cover is also included.
Thats what i heard but some unboxing didnt say anything.
Just looking for something for day one.
I ordered a case with built in protector. Just dont know if the screen protector will work with the fingerprint

I have a S10+ that came with one and while the fitment was perfect it wasn't much thicker (if any) than the plastic that you peel off the back. I don't use screen protectors so as soon as the cutout for the front facing cameras started bugging me when I would pull the notification shade down I took it off (maybe two days of owning the phone).
Generally when applying a new screen protector you would take any existing ones off first.
It does.

I had no issues with mine. Got S10+ on release day and used it up until a month ago and replaced it with ringke dual easy film. Was not a bad screen protector at all I'll probably rock the factory one in note again for awhile until it's worn out
Good to know.

It is difficult to find screen protector with curve glass. I had changed so many tempered glass for my s8+.
Another issue is the fingerprint sensor. Is there any screen protector that doesn't block the fingerprint sensor?

I have found the screen protector on the S10 plus I have is great. Still looks the same as it did out of the box.
I didn't use a screen protector on my S9 plus and I had no issues with scratches or anything. Only reason I left this one on I figured if it bubbled or came off I would just remove it and go with nothing.

Anyone interested to see the quality of the screen protector on the Note 10+ at the 6:40 mark he takes the screen protector off and you can see how cheap it is.
Yes, it does come with a screen protector installed.
However, the pre-installed protector is nowhere as good as the ones available online. it is prone to get scratches easily. So, I recommend you get one to protect your phone.

Yes but then the fingerprint sensor goes very bad.

I'm impressed with the built in screen protector

I am more impressed with the built in screen protector after one week. I've tried film screen protectors before and they showed marks from the s.Pen this one doesn't (yet). And the fingerprint works fine. I know it doesn't help much if you drop the phone but helps re scratches. I've always found that the glass screen protectors eventually attract dust on the sides. Im also using the included case for now which too is not bad.. What's your thoughts.

I thought it was excellent but mine had to marks underneath out of the box and I was worried that it was the actual display that was marked so I pulled it off and it was the actual screen protector that was marked, been a pain in the arse since getting a protector that is decent
Wish I never removed it :silly:
It would be nice if Samsung provided a service where a new screen protector can be reapplied when original one is worn out.
After a week mine is badly scratched.
Already looking at the options for a replacement, not too keen on tempered glass.
Sent from my SM-T835 using Tapatalk
Its quite nice but mine is scratched all over and I'm not rough on the phone at all. I'll probably just leave it on, scratches and all. I am not wasting money on a Dome or some Tempered Glass solution that is cheaper that isn't going to fit or work well.
I had the S10+ Which also came with a screen protector but I honestly think Samsung did something to improve it - the one that came on my Note 10+ seems better than on the S10+ I had.
For what it's worth, I also don't want to spend the money on Glass - and don't want one where I have to put liquid on the screen to get it to work -I never had any luck with those - BUT, there are some very good plastic screen protectors that work exceptionally well, are easy to install and will make a good alternative if you need to replace the one that came with the phone.
The One I found that I like best is the Otao Screen Protector on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/OTAO-Protector-Coverage-Friendly-Anti-Bubble/dp/B07VHBNRJP/ref=sr_1_25?keywords=screen+protector+note+10+plus&qid=1567359663&s=gateway&sr=8-25
The Video they posted on amazon definitely helps you install it perfectly and it is very affordable - just over 7 bucks and you get two of them.
Looks good - works great - lasts a long time (It did on my S10+ and I am sure it will on my Note 10+ as well.
THere are others that are also good, but this is the one I found that I like the most. Good luck....

This is the downside of in-screen sensors. I personally like matter screen protectors which don't show marks, fingerprints and look clean. I don't want to buy one for it to not be compatible with the sensor. Any info if matte screen protectors might work?
the glass ones dont work well with fingerprint sensor. I wouldn't waste your money! I bought a 360 deg case and it doesnt work on that either.
Shame sammy doesnt sell the one that came on the phone. Mine protector has a scratch on it already though I was on hols last week and it could've been sand so its saved the screen!

Same, sand and s-view cover bad idea lol. Got fair few pits in the protection.
I do like the built-in screen protector but as other people have mentioned, mine already has scratches on it nothing deep or crazy but it works fine for now. I've pre-ordered a Whitestone Dome, though expensive, I have mastered the process to the point that I don't make a mess. I've been using them since my Note8 and have had no complaints. Hell, it's even protected my screen when I've dropped it face down. The Dome cracked but my screen underneath was intact. I am a bit concerned about the Fingerprint scanner since it's not the greatest at recognizing my fingerprint but ah well.
The tempered glass screen protectors DO NOT WORK !!!!I'm on my third one. The sensor does not pick up.....I may just rock it raw dawg!!
I'm typically not a screen protector sort of person, but it was a week before i even noticed that the note 10+ had one on it.. I'm so impressed i'm leaving it on.
Yeah, I'm staying too on this one untill I buy whitestone dome as always! Hope that it works on this phone too with spigen tough armour; s8, s9+, note 9 works withouth problems!

I've been very impressed with the factory protector as well. Hardly noticeable that it is there.
If they would sell this for cheap i would buy like 10. They get scratch easily but is so clear, finger glide and doesnt leave fingerprint. They only problem would be installation since this plastic screen protectors are a paint to get a perfect installation

I think I've only seen one of them on Amazon so far (this one). It looks like it might be fine - but I'm not sure $36 is where I want to be. I'm hoping we'll see some more options pop up soon.

I'm really thinking I want something on there considering that the Flex Mode will basically be resting on the screen side whenever you use it (or you'd get a wobble on the cameras).

If it has a factory installed protector on it, leave it on until it wears out. They provide better protection than you might first think.
Ha-ha I "tested" the one on my 10+ the 2and day I had it and faceplanted it on a rough piece of 1/16th inch aluminum angled upwards.
Marred the protector but no damage to the screen... it hit on the curved glass area, hard.
Sand will scratch these screens.
I would lean towards a wet apply urethane screen protector as they are durable, remain clear, fairly easy to apply, bubble free, self healing and are inexpensive.
Been having a good run with Gorilla IQ Sheild on my 10+. Bought 4 three months ago and still on the first one. Shows some wear on the keypad area but no scratches and I'm not babying it. Similar in feel to the factory installed protector.

Do you know if this is necessary on the fold 2? The only reason I buy whitestone tempered glass for my samsung phones is because the screen is curved and whitestone makes the best glass for curved screens. If the z Fold 2 doesn't have a curved front screen, then I think most tempered glass screen protectors should work.
So I guess my main question is, does the z fold 2 have a curve to the front screen?

The screen protector is for the outer screen, you dont need a protector for inside screen. Whitestone is a good company, sadly the code did not work for me. Did anyone get lucky yet?

Because of the edges of the glass. I can feel the edges when playing games
Just received the Whitestone screen protector and installed it. It lined up perfectly with the hole punch camera, but doesn't quite cover the entire front glass. Had no adhesive dribble out on to my phone. But, did have to move the holder around to get the adhesive to fully disperse. I'm now just hoping that the first case I put on (when one of the five I ordered arrives), doesn't break the screen protector.

Question Just installed a glass screen protector and FPR won't recognize

I did the steps people have said to do like increase touch sensitivity and re add all the fingers I would use but it still won't work. I don't know who made this protector since I got it off a marketplace site and when I met with the person all he gave me was the screen protector. It was only $5 i got it for so no big deal if it's ****.
Other than that it feels good and everything else works fine.
There are some other threads on here about glass screen protectors. The majority don't work with FP, but there are some that do. Check those threads for info.
In general you need to go for the UV glued type..... All the ones with just glue on the edges will leave an air gap between screen and glass, this heavily impedes with FP functionality.....
Is the brand on Google's approved list?

The air gap has nothing to do with it, the Pixel 6 with its perfectly flat screen has the same problems, my wifes Spigen one has rendered her FPS useless.

I'm not disputing that, i was just clarifying the Pixel 6 suffers the same problem even with a flat screen.
Never had a problem with a 1+ phone using a glass protector over the FPS even with the cheapest crap i could find so as far as i am concerned all the reasons Google are coming out with are absolute cobblers.
So should I just take this thing off or wait for a software update from Google?
I for myself have installed a TPU screen protector presently, awaiting delivery of a UV glass protector as I like those more
I'd hope Google improves the behaviour of the FPS, in how far however I don't know.....
I am currently using the below TPU screen protector and could not be happier with it. My fingerprint scanner works nearly every single time and I have not had an issue. Once the screen protector has been properly applied (I admit, I screwed it up the first time) I cannot even tell that it is on my screen visibly or by touch.
Having said that, I am a little concerned that a TPU screen protector is not as good in general as a glass one. I have not had an issue yet, but I also have not had an accidental drop or anything.
I will also say that I have registered each of my thumbs twice. I will get an occasional "longer" read, and by longer, maybe a half a second longer. However, I have noticed that when that happens, my thumb is slightly out of the read circle. When my thumb is dead center, it reads it every time really quickly.
I am not all that excited about a UV glass protector as I have read horror stories of discoloration and some users not being able to get them off.
Supposedly Google has released their approved screen protectors list. I am not about to spend 50 bucks on a Zagg. The one for Panzer was more reasonable, but it disappeared off their website. The Otterbox is another TPU and I like the one I have:
Amazon.com
I might just take this off and use nothing. I didn't use a protector for my s7 edge or s10+ and didn't get a single scratch. I only got it because I wanted to preserve the oilyaphobic coating. This thing only cost me $5 in the end
Did peeps make sure to use the increased screen sensitivity setting for use with screen protectors?

yes, it makes zero difference.
Typically with curved screens, you need a full-screen adhesive in order for the FPR to work after installation. Either that, or one with edge adhesive with an area over the reader that also sticks to the screen, but I personally think those are kinda ugly. For the regular P6, my girlfriend ordered a brand called "TOCOL" for a glass protector, which is working great all around.
If/when Whitestone Dome releases one for the P6P, that will be the only really good option. It's either that, or buy an edge adhesive style one, buy LOCA glue and a UV lamp, and DYI it. Only way you're going to have glass and a working FPR.
I'm using a TPU protector and a case. TPU has come a long way tbh, the dry install ones I got feel like a naked screen and give me some piece of mind in regard to small scratches. The case does the rest as far as drop protection. Victus Glass is pretty good for shatter resistance generally, but crap for scratches.
OP, I would remove that one if you want to use the Fingerprint Reader. There isn't a software update that's going to solve that problem unfortunately. I'd just use a decent TPU for now and if you really want glass after you try it still pray for Whitestone Dome. There's another thread on here dedicated to working protectors, I'd check that out and pick one.

If you prefer the 9H glass protectors, you'll have to find a glass protector that is "Google certified" to work with fingerprint reader.
These are glued to the screen to make 100% positive contact with the glass protector.
I'm guessing you have a 9H glass protector like mine that has a very small air gap between the screen and the protector. Even with the enhanced fingerprint reader setting, my fingerprint reader doesn't pick up anything.
The TPU flexible protectors supposedly work well, but I like the 9H glass protectors.
The Google Certified 9H glass protectors that I've found are between $15 - $39 per protector, and many of them are "out of stock" at the moment.

The air gap has nothing to do with it, the Pixel 6 with its perfectly flat screen has the same problems, my wifes Spigen one has rendered her FPS useless.

Yeah it's only the Pro model that has curved screens and requires UV glue protectors, which there is currently none available until Whitestone Dome releases. I managed to get this and it works perfectly but it's already out of stock [3 Pack]Google Pixel 6 Pro Screen Protector,Akcoo Liquid UV Tempered Glass [Full Screen Adhesive][Edge to edge coverage][Compatible with fingerprint sensor] for Pixel 6 Pro 6.7 inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KC72DW...abc_YW4QX456AX8GJ33BV928?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
